They do a decent breakfast cob at a fair price

Highly recommend for egg and vegetarian sausage cob! Everything looks good though.

I rarely write reviews, only ever to praise great experiences. Whilst the food is quite good, the service undermines any good in the experience. The woman with short blonde hair is quite abrasive. She will greet most with a smile and friendliness. Every time I go in there I am met with frowns, mutters under the breath and a sense this stranger dislikes me for absolutely no reason. I am always polite and respectful, only to have any morning I go there start off with a sour face and unwarranted attitude. Will not return, probably to both our delight. The rest of the ladies are lovely and welcoming. It's a shame.

Visited twice in the last week for breakfast cobs and I’m very pleased, the staff are friendly and the food is perfect! There’s so many options to choose from definitely recommend 🙏🏼 I had a cob and only asked for 2 toppings and the lady was sure to let us know we could add another 2 toppings for same price 😊

There are few places in this capitalist hellscape these days that are still down to earth independent delicious eateries.. Peckish is one of the few greats. A famous spot within our community. I work in Norfolk House, an office building across the road. When you walk back into the office with that white paper bag, heavy with cob, the people will know where you have been. A sly smile will rupture across their face, eyes glittering, as they say to you, ‘Peckish?’. And almost like with a contagious yawn, you will have started a domino effect of people needing to purchase their own delectable breakfast joys. The prices are affordable, more than affordable i would argue in this cost of living crisis. A cob with 5 fillings of your choice is currently £4, that's a bargain if i’ve ever heard of one. My personal favourites, their hash browns. I could write a love letter to those crispy potato triangles. I don’t know how they make them so perfectly greasy and delicious. I almost don’t want to know, it would spoil the magic. The queens behind the counter are effortlessly efficient and sweet. Even when it’s busy and you know they’d rather be anywhere than there, they will still serve you with warmth and haste. Even when you walk in with a list because your colleagues wanted cobs too and you have to list off lots of things and feel annoying (you are being annoying), they will still welcome you with open arms. Please visit this delight on the corner, I dread to think of them ever being replaced by a horrendous American franchise. Go and experience the joys of a soft white cob laden with fillings of your choice, warm and comforting during the worst of commutes or mornings at work. Please just make sure to keep enough hashbrowns for me <3

Hello is that the police? Because I’ve just been robbed in broad daylight. £4.00 quid for a small ham salad roll. Certainly do not recommend this rip off sandwich shop.

Fleeced on a sandwich. £6.50 for a chicken and bacon roll. Appear to have been charged for each individual item. No warning as I was placing the order and no apology. Disappointed with the sharp practice. Won't bother going back....

Nice place. Good spot just off the tram stop, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Decent for a morning breakfast on the go.

I've been coming here for a long time now and I generally haven't had any issues with the food or the staff. I don't get why people moan about it 💪

Should not be preparing food with long fake nails, and did not wish hands after having a smoke. It's very unhygienic, all sorts of germs and bacteria under those nails. Also bread bun roll was very cheap quality and charging too much. Chicken mayo was nice. Need to send your staff to a food hygiene course. For hygiene purposes will not be going there again. Cleansiness is always a priority in food business.

I have to say very disappointing service… I’m a returning customer and buy sandwiches almost every week. Today I went there and bought a sandwich and a coffee. The boss knows that I’m a student and earlier I showed my student card. It also says on the black board that student discount 10%. But she didn’t give me student discount today even if I asked for it. She said oh I already put it in. Since there were many people waiting, I didn’t argue with her about this and paid for the food. I will never come and buy anything later. Very disappointing experience…

Fast service, reasonably priced, fresh produce with lots of choice

Bang on. As far as breakfast cobs go, look no further. Would happily visit again when I’m in the area. Quick, easy service.

Had a cheese roll….. was £2.70 for some vaguely cheesy stuff. The roll itself was the cheapest type you could get. Disappointed.

I was a regular at peckish as I used to work opposite the cafe. Food is delicious breakfast, cobs, salad boxes and jacket potatoes. Staff are really friendly and they work really hard to get your food prepared as quick as possible. People are always queuing out the door. Their bacon is the tastiest I've had. I really miss going here wish they did delivery

Staff can be rude at times. Unhygienic. Does not wear hair nets or gloves when handling food and serving customers. Inappropriate long nails and jewelery worn on hands. Coughs in hand and continues to serve. Disgusting

A menudo voy por una mazorca grande de 5 artículos con salchichas vegetarianas, frijoles hashbrown y queso. El mayor problema que tengo es que usan el mismo cuchillo y pinzas para las salchichas vegetales que para las salchichas de carne, lo que obviamente no es ideal para dejar residuos en las salchichas vegetales. Pide un cuchillo y unas pinzas nuevas y te enfadarán. . ¡Espero que vean esto y cambien! !

There are a few reviews advising of rude staff and terrible service. I have to agree. And they do treat some customers differently, from what I can gather this seems to be based on colour of skin, whether you have tattoos, or whether you're a regular and one of their circle! The food used to be much better as well. I had a terrible experience a couple of weeks ago where the breakfast cob I ordered wasn't what I was expecting. They'll ask if you want margarine and then spread a square inch on one side (what was the point?). No smile in the service at all.I also wonder if the woman who works Saturdays is a little bit racist or just miserable all of the time. So I thought I'd give it another go this morning and this seems to be their normal policy now. The same level of quality and service. There are much better cob shops around and I won't be going there again.

My work mates rate this place highly. They buy huge breakfast rolls and then baked potatoes at lunch time. I've had a vegetarian sausage roll a few times and they are amazing but they haven't had any for weeks which is a shame. Tried a meat sausage roll and it was cheap pink sausage meat and had a slimy texture so won't be buying one of those again. Had an egg and hash brown cob one morning and it was nice but a bit too greasy. Think this is a proper greasy spoon takeaway.

My toast was burnt black, I ordered for collection got to work and it's beyond burned. Buttered the cremated toast and served it. Disgusting

Not liking most of the components of the £4.35 full breakfast I opted for just eggs and bacon, for this I was charged a princely sum of £5.60! How? The bacon was so hard it was inedible and not a bit of runny yolk was to be found. Toast was as hard as wood. Won't be going there again, shame coz the staff are nice. Awful egg and bacon.

Often pop in for breakfast or lunch and found the girls fine with me however I've noticed they clearly don't treat all customers the same as was very rude to another customer in front of me!! As well as this there is swearing behind the counter not professional at all. The foods not bad it's decent value for money but I don't think they do follow strict food safety guidelines in the sense I've seen them use tongs for meat and tongs for non meat items and it should be separate!!

Used this place a couple of times this year. Breakfast cobs tend to suffer from cheap ingredients (sausages in particular). Service also tends to be rather charmless.

From breakfast cobs to lunchtime sandwiches and meals, they cram a lot into this little shop. I basically had a full English breakfast on a massive cob. Everything was cooked well and there was barely a wait. Would recommend.

Ordered a bacon cob and a tea. The individual who served was SO RUDE AND SWORE!!!!!! Food was slammed on counter and I was told to go to Greggs next time, she then proceeded to say ****** OFF. Disgusting way to treat customers, they don’t deserve any. Whoever this person is ( I wouldn’t call her a woman, that would be an insult to women ), she needs a course in customer service and manners. HORRID INDIVIDUAL, AND THE MILK WAS OFF IN THE TEA!!!!! COB UNEATABLE! LEFT IT FOR THE PIDGEONS! SORT THIS WOMAN OUT MANAGER!

Follow the construction guys - I said it before and I say it again. If you want good value for money follow the workforce to their favourite places . Nice sandwhiches , english breakfast - anything a hungry worker or traveller can ask for - friendly staff and two tables to enjoy your breakfast at a busy junction..

Very nice food, variety to suit eceryone.The Chocolate cake is out of this world. I have visited multiple times as a student on my break. Prices are great and beat any subway or Greggs for both freshness and quality.

Friendly staffs, and the coleslaw is great. However, the sausage taste is slightly plain and just ordinary.

I went in to get lunch today for a jacket potato. I was asked if I would like butter on it to which I replied no. The lady then warmed it up for me as often their potatoes are lukewarm at best. By the time she had done this she had clearly forgotten our original conversation and took the potato away to the back counter which she then slathered loads of butter. I spotted this too late and said I didn’t want butter. She then said for ‘f*** sake’ (not quietly) and threw it back into their warmer. At which point I am kicking myself as I should have just left but was on limited time before a meeting to get lunch. She then made me what I actually asked for and gave me my change. To which she then under her breath said ‘f***off then’. Needless to say I will not be going there again!!!

Went in on friday, ordered myself a 5 filling breakfast cob. Not to badly priced. Asked for it with red sauce as I'm allergic to brown sauce. Get to work, open it up and it has brown sauce on, so i rang them up to tell them, i had to leave a voicemail. I explained my cob has brown sauce on and that im allergic to brown sauce, Iv had no reply or nothing. Well thank you peckesh, I could be in hospital now for your stupidity. Obviously you care about your customers that much.

I have been here twice in the last couple of weeks. I was very impressed. They offer a student discount and were generally quite full. Their jacket potatoes were great and were very cheap. It cost me £4 for a jacket potato with two fillings and a dessert. Re customer service i didn't mind it and was happy to eat in.

I really like peckish, the foods lovely and it's really reasonably priced. It's so handy for people at the tram stop or when your on the way to college/work. I always pop in for a giant jacket potato with tuna which is only around 2.50. It defiantly doesn't deserve the ridiculous reviews about its hygiene.

these guys have a ZERO FOOD HYGIENE RATING! found out from a local newspaper, that means they are close to being shut down, RATS, FAECES, E COLI, DIRT AND GREASE, MAKES ME SICK, SORT IT OUT PECKISH thats not acceptable in England.
