Peartree Pantry in Braintree

What a great find, Lorraine and Jess made us very welcome as this was our 1st time. The food was delicious and a very vast menu, Lorraine you make a superb coffee would highly recommend this little gem will definitely going back

What a hidden gem. I was lucky enough to have been treated to a birthday afternoon tea by friends. The pantry is delightfully clean, well decorated and bright. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient, catering to all our needs. The choice of food was good and the quality was excellent. Would I go again? Yes looking forward to my next visit which will be soon. I’m thinking lunch next time.

Lovely welcome when we arrived for our Sunday roast. The food was beautifully cooked and the meat, potato, veg ratio was sooo good. And, plenty of gravey!!! We had the beef, which was perfectly cooked. We didn't have desert as we couldn't manage it but there were plenty of options. The fire was lovely and made the restaurant feel cosy. There are cakes to eat in or take away. Peartree has great options if you're gluten free both on cakes and main menu.

Arrived with my dog to have breakfast with friends and was met by Sue, who was lovely. Full English ordered by all and it was one of the best I‘ve ever had. Well done Nick, the poached eggs were excellent. My dog (Bonnie) got some treats too. Would highly recommend this venue and I will definitely come again.😁

What a lunch experience. We were welcomed in by a lovely waitress called Lucy, showed us to the table and explained the allergens of which I stated. I ordered the roast beef that was on the menu, and it was cooked to absolute perfection! They offered to cook it more if required however it was marvellous. The assortment of veg and sauces were lovely! Suze another waitress was extremely friendly and sorted our deserts, the sticky toffee pudding was up there with the best I’ve had. Hats off to the owners and staff for such a beautiful and well organised cafe! Thank you and we will be returning soon travelling up from East Sussex.

Had the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and the dish was presented beautifully. Staff were lovely and welcoming, will definitely be back there soon.

What an absolute find! Fortunately my sis in law moved to Hatfield Peverel the week before New Years Eve weekend and had noted The Pear Tree Pantry as close by and good reviews. We had brunch on Sat 30th Dec - amazing quality of produce, service and atmosphere. It was so good we went back for late lunch on the 31st Dec and were not disappointed. What a great breakfast, this is the first time I have visited since the new management has taken over. I loved the little book swap and the whole experience. We were informed of the large gathering before it happened and had a good conversation in general. The pot of tea was great and the sausages were excellent.

This wasn’t the first time we’d been here and tbh it wasn’t great before but that was years ago so we gave it another chance. Tuesday morning with only one other table occupied who had almost finished so we were their only customers really. We ordered 2 sausage sarnies, 2 teas and a sausage for the dog. The tea was very quick & hot. The sandwiches took almost half hour, I asked a girl where it was, she said she’d check and I never saw her again. The excuse was that they were cooked fresh but the dog sausage was stone cold so I’m pretty sure it was reheated. Barely a teaspoon of spread in the middle of bread and super thick, end of loaf, very dry bread. We paid £18 for the privilege Will never visit again!

Travelling down from from Suffolk to Maldon to visit friends, by the rime we reached Hatfield Peverel, we were definitely in need of a rest room break and some refreshment, having stopped at the Pear Tree Pantry on prvios occasions we headed for it, hoping it was still there. It was there and as good as ever, on arrival we were greeted by a most pleasant young lady who greeted us with a smile and seemed to want to help rather tan the usual "Yes" that one gets in these fast food establishments, it was no problem to advise us as to what foods were available and to generally advise us. We only had time for tea and cake, but the premise and staff were very welcoming, I would certainly still recommend Pear Tree Pantry to any one travelling or even living in that locality. We took our parents here for lunch to celebrate their diamond anniversary. Our party of 10 recieved a warm welcome from the team at Pear tree pantry and our dogs were promptly served with fresh water and biscuits ! The service was excellent, as was the food. Found this place today, following recommendations from fellow cyclists to give it a go.We all opted for the sausage muffin special. Oh my god, this thing is huge, but just the ticket for those out on a long ride.We were also spoilt with free pastries following our order of the special, a nice extra touch.Really friendly service, and a nice choice of cafe dishes, as well as decent coffee made this the perfect stop.We'll be back, thanks for a great visit, we needed that!

Have visited twice in the last few weeks. Once for lunch and once for breakfast, and found the food and hospitality excellent. Covid measures were strictly enforced, which made us feel safe and did not spoil the occasion. Our dog was made very welcome and enjoyed her sausage.

I visited Pear Tree Pantry on 29th July with a friend. Service took approximately 40 minutes and when my sandwich arrived the bread was stale. I pointed this out to the lady serving, and she offered a replacement. But I was on a lunchbreak, so time was too limited to wait for a replacement. I was given a free coffee, but the meal was not refunded.I reviewed on Google Maps and the owner claimed my review was fake because she had no record of my visit (it's a cafe, so not surprising really), and that she had reported me to Google. I contacted her by email with the details of my visit, including the payment from my bank card. She told me I was being "petty and uncalled for". She wrote an abusive reply to my feedback and claimed I'd bombarded her with personal emails (I imitially provided evidence of my visit to the email address shown on their website. She insisted on putting up untrue replies to my review, so I sent subsequent emails stating that if she continued to post untrue comments about me I would take legal action). Shocked at the aggression my initial review received, including being called a fake! It's a shame because this used to be a good place, and I was a weekly customer. It could so easily have been resolved with a simple "this isn't our usual experience, and hopefully you'll come back" instead of aggression.

I took my partner and son here for our Sunday lunch on the 9th August 2020. We had a fantastic meal here and although not the cheapest it was finely cooked and very well presented. The prawn and salmon cocktail was so fresh and tasty and the roast beef was cooked to perfection. We finished with the Eton Mess that was one of the best I have ever had. Last Sunday the roast was amazing this Sunday however must be a change of chef. Very ordinary and disappointing. Lacking in stuffing. Pigs in blankets and watery gravy. Why change from what was perfect

Stumbled upon this venue completely out the blue. Had an excellent roast dinner and staff did everything to make us feel welcome. Even produced an off the menu snack and sandwich for our 2 year old. Warm friendly welcome with a glowing wood fire. Full English breakfast was well cooked and presented. Not long to wait for fokdr. Staff very chatty.

Four of us and a baby had lunch here on a weekday in October, going for the lasagne, bangers and mash, soup and spinach pasta. All of the food was fine.The place inside wasn't that busy, but the car park all the way round the back was full somehow.

I had a wonderful Full English Breakfast, with fresh orange juice. Alex and the girls at Pear Tree offered great service and I thoroughly enjoyed my Breakfast here. The pantry as a whole is very clean, and you can the employees take pride in working here.I would recommend this to anyone in and around the Chelmsford area.

Myself and 3 friends went to Peartree Pantry for a mid week lunch. The menu is varied and there is also a specials board to choose from as well. Two of us had lamb, bacon & mint pudding, another chose fish cake with the other friend having macaroni cheese. All the meals were delicious and served piping hot.The service was very friendly and polite. The atmosphere and surroundings were keeping with a rural setting and also delightful and colourful furnishings. A fantastic find. Tucked away but worth the trip. We held a baby shower there and you have the place to yourself. The staff are lovely, welcoming and helpful nothing is too much trouble. Although described as out-of-the-way this is situated right on National Cycle Route 1 between Wickham Bishops and Ulting. The welcome was lovely, and the tea and coffee and cake excellent.The loo is impeccable. The whole place is clean and bright. Bikers are especially welcome, but I guess it would be good to phone ahead if there is a large peloton.Alexandria has been in charge for 6 months and has really tried hard (and successfully) to make this a top-notch café. She is very much a local by upbringing, and not surprisingly knows the area well.
