Wish I could give zero stars! Totally ruined my 40th birthday! All I wanted was a relaxing holiday and a nice take away with my family but the food was so bad we literally gave it the dogs and ate pot noodles! Paid £10 for some duck with pan cc akes and I know it's called crispy duck but you couldn't even chew it it was dry and rock hard! Not edible at all! We have had better from Iceland that you microwave! Absolutely discussing!

Staying in Wigton overnight present few dining choices. Pearl City was good for a takeaway. Certainly not cheap but the food was tasty.

Always have a good takeaway from here, we order a selection so we can all share, aromatic duck with pancakes, Cantonese spare ribs, sometimes seaweed and a soup, sweet sour chicken balls, shredded beef peking sauce, chicken Kung pho, a curry, prawn crackers and fried soft noodles, with a selection of chips and fried rice, I can’t remember if we have ever had a bad meal, never to greasy ever, my kids are very fussy and this is our go to Chinese.

First time using Pearl City and wasn't disappointed. Phoned the order, went to collect after half hour, only had to wait 2 mins. Staff were friendly, prompt and covid safe. All food was hot, tasty, decent sized and enough meat to satisfy most. Veg in the dishes were slightly chunky but nice and crunchy and sauces were very good. We had beef curry, San chow chicken, Shredded beef with peking sauce and egg fried rice and sesame prawn toast - all were excellent , tho the prawn toast was a little oily underneath like fried bread. Still tasted good tho. Would recommend for sure, and will use again.

Not very impressed. Spent £34 here and everyone is disappointed. Food doesn't seem to be cooked very well, raw noodles, soggy chips, satay that's so spicy it not nice and salt n pepper chips soggy and full of raw onion, not to mention seaweed that's got a sweet artificial taste. Needs to sort itself out, this used to be a really good takeaway.

Used to be one of the best Chinese takeaway restaurants I’d had the pleasure of visiting, must be under new management because now it is the worst I have experienced in my lifetime. Got my order wrong despite several times of checking order -when I got it home my Thai chicken fried rice was a solid block of starch gloop! BBQ ribs were bone soup with no meat on at all. Disgusting meal ! Would have rated no stars if I could 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Popped in this carry out when I was in wigton the other evening. I ordered crispy beef with honey and chilli with fried rice. It was awful - slimy beef in tasteless glob , not very warm and a very small portion. Save your £7 and go somewhere else.

Thought I'd try this place again after my last disappointing visit. I used to love this Chinese, but it changed hands about 18 months ago and went severely downhill. This time my meal was better - barely passable, but not great and they still give out much smaller portions than they used to in the past. The sweet and sour chicken was dull and uninspiring. Also the new layout with the horrible garish lighting on the low ceiling, and the busy open kitchen, is rather unpleasant.

Average chinese take away with average prices. Nothing to write home about but good enough for a quick tea

Always provides very good quality food. I particularly like the barbequed pork chop suey! If you're looking for a great Chinese takeaway, look no further!!

Service sometimes lets it down, they tell you a time to collect and you can still be sat there an hour later.

It's a Chinese takeaway - enough said! But it is reasonably priced, the food is good, the service is fast and friendly. What's not to like?

This place used to be pretty excellent; however in recent months they have had a change of chef and now, quite frankly, it's awful.

We use this takeaway regularly and there have been occasions when this has been so good hubby has actually phoned to say so. Other times it's just mediocre. We haven't quite worked out what influences this. I would say the weekends, when you have to wait at least 30 minutes on average, is better than during the week. The portions are generous and most of the dishes would probably feed two normal appetites and the sweet and sour chicken balls are enormous and would feed a family!! I had the king prawns with water chestnuts and bamboo and didn't enjoy it, the sauce was nondescript and far too many onions. Mother in law had chicken in orange sauce which she thought was fantastic and good value for money.

This used to be the best Chinese ever, you never no if it's going to be open or the food is actually going to be what we want, but when it's correct and they seem to be working, then it's fantastic, shredded beef Peking sauce is iffy but when right out of this world alone with so many other dishes love this place when they get it right

Booked meal for two by phone, gave time I would be there, but still had to wait 20 mins. for it. The Chicken and Pineapple was so sweet with a pink sauce that it was almost inedible. That meal and the Chicken with ginger and spring onion was so full of onions that they overpowered everything. Not impressed at all.

Tonight I had sweet n sour chicken balls and it was vile. the chicken had black bits on it ,and tasted as if it had been in another dish before being rinsed off and deep fried..and the batter was white and uncooked inside .The rice was hard and the sweet n sour sauce was like water. Please read the other reviews before ordering from here,This place is definitely the worst chinese in the whole of workington.

Great food and friendly service. I visited here twice last week and both times the food was delicious, cooked quickly and still hot when i arrived at my flat, a five minute walk away.

I am very sorry for the Owner of The Goden Hills and his poor health but I wish to complain about a meal I purchased to-day 05/11/24 which he assured me had no ginger in when I queried this, but the meal came with Ginger in it
