Camping locally and ordered a takeaway. Food was delicious and still really hot when we got back to the campsite. Really easy to order online. Friendly staff. Will definetaly use again. Thank you

After reading some of the reviews we were a bit optimistic but we could not fault the food here, I am gluten free and they reassured me that the sweet and sour chicken was coated with potato maize, not flour. It was delicious. The vegetarian bean curd meal was well recieved and my son enjoyed the special fried rice.

Just a small shop in a tourist town, didn't expect much. But literally the best chow main I've ever had. And they aren't even Chinese. My wife agrees, and we have very different tastes.

Chinese takeaway. Chilli beef, sweet and sour chicken, ribs and chicken chow mein. Food ok but nothing that really stood out to give it an extra star.

Being from the Midlands i love me a decent Chinese. Silk Road blew me away last night...everything hot fresh and delicious...could not fault any of the food...which took 20 mins to prep so just enough time to get a cheeky pint in at the Bank Tavern over the square. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Chose this one from the two available in Keswick and so glad we did! Really lovely food and proper prices! Would recommend and they delivered to Braithwate 👍

Wow the best takeaway Chinese ever

Very delicious alternative when it's impossible to get through to the other Chinese in the town. This is take away only, there is a small shop front to stand in to wait for your order, so in busy times expect to get friendly with strangers

Like the ancient silk road of old, bringing trade from the far East, through the middle East and finally arriving in Europe.. Silk road in Keswick attempts this, bringing the MSG flavouring from the far East, sold to you by middle eastern men and eaten by overweight Europeans.. But it is undoubtedly cheap for Keswick and somewhat tasty.

Christ that was the worst Kung Po I've ever tasted! Didn't even resemble the dish. Half went in the bin. They're lucky there's not much competition in Keswick or they'd be out of business. Wish I read the reviews first

We had a takeaway delivered while staying at castlerigg Hall caravan site & couldn’t fault it, from ordering online to delivery was very easy. We were a bit worried after reading the reviews but food was lovely, chicken curry, special chow mein, chicken satay, egg fried rice which was very fresh, we really enjoyed it & would definitely order again when staying in keswick

Worst Chinese iv had in my life.

Been order twice:- Good Friday is 12" Pepperoni Pizza and Sunday is 12" Inferno Pizza. Taste perfect, no affected on tummy bug and no diarrhoea, no food poisoning. Saw the guy full responsible to making phone call for order and origination very well. Good price. 10/10

We usually drive to cockermouth for our favorite takeaway ,unfortunately tonight they are closed. Thought we would give our local another chance. Wished we hadn't bothered. £4.50 for salt and pepper chips which were cold, soggy, undercooked frozen chips with a few bits of onion and chilli thrown in. The beef curry contained mushrooms that tasted vile which leads us to believe how old were they? We had to spit them out. The stir fried roast duck, a staple dish in most Chinese takeaways but this was swimming in a greasy, watery garlic flavored sauce and the bamboo shoots were far from fresh. The king prawn chow main was edible but very salty. The duck and the beef dishes went in the bin. We will never return. Would not have even given one star rating but could not continue with review until I did !!!

Up in keswick for a week and decided to have a take away on our last night unfortunately the Chinese with the best rating was closed for a week so we went here ….. mistake! Childs portion of chips half a bag of cold chips, sns chicken was ok but the spare ribs were very sloppy and very fatty obviously boiled then thrown in the sauce. Chow mein overpowered with garlic and thai chicken was very watery. Lesson learned 40 quid most of it in the bin

Very decent Chinese takeaway. Guy who took our order was friendly. Waited 20 minutes but was not disappointed with the food. Great hot and sour soup!

Just had a meal from this Takeaway and can honestly say it's was beautiful. Delivered early and really nice. Definitely use again.

We ordered food at 17:55 hrs . We called two hours later at 19:55 to be told we were being impatient(!). It’s now 20:35 and there is still no sign of our food.

Not even sure where to start with this.... I guess one of my main things with a Chinese is to judge it based off their hot and sour soup. Usually if the soup is good the rest of the meal will be. The soup was like dish water and about the only positive thing was it was hot. It was dull, mainly flavourless and I didn't enjoy one mouthful of it. The duck in orange sauce was about 90% fat and skin. What meat their was was chewy and not very nice. The sauce was weird. The salt and pepper chips were just regular chips tossed in a few fried veggies. Nothing authentic about them. The salt and pepper chicken was like leather and chewy. And the lemon chicken was like it had been cooked about 8 times before being served about the best part was the egg fried rice and that wasn't anything special. The next day I didn't feel too clever either and I'm not going to blame the meal directly but there was no other reason for me to feel like that. Just avoid this place it's grim.

Would never recommend this establishment to anyone. 1.Ordered carry out of beef curry, fried rice and a portion of chips at counter and waited 35mins. After 30mins I enquired why the delay and was told large delivery orders are completed before single orders. 2. Chap behind counter who takes orders also prepares and makes pizzas and handles money and payment cards. He did not wear gloves or wash hands during my time observing him fulfilling the above duties. Customers kept waiting while he continued to prepare pizzas. 3. Food is cooked upstairs out of sight of customers and occasionally another person comes down to assist. Dressed in shabby dark jeans and shirt, I raised my concerns with him but stopped when he became very rude and had an aggressive tone. 4 The food provided was very bland and in my opinion well below the standard I have got from other establishments. 5 Goes without saying, I will never be back to this establishment and would not recommend it to anyone. Don’t be taken in by it’s fancy brochure/ menu that is wilt distributed

Spicy Chicken pizzas here are the best in Keswick as the pastry is just as delicious as the topping itself - and upon entrance the whole place smells even heavenlier than a bakery and the taste and texture is just as delicious !!!

I have always given Silk Road a 💯, we’ve had fantastic meals since they 1st came to Keswick, unfortunately our meal last night was poor , I contacted Andy the owner and he wouldn’t accept our complaint, the food was poor , which is a 1st for us , we will never order from Silk Road again, not only was the food poor , but Andy would not accept our complaint, a shame really if Andy had been more acceptable of our complaint we would’ve ordered again, his attitude was if you want to order elsewhere then do , a very loyal customers for over 15years , we won’t be back , times are tuff at the moment and will only get worse, I think you should look after your regulars , obviously he doesn’t care about regular locals .

Instead of getting the king prawn I got beef chow mein, the beef was so chewy I couldn’t eat it and didn’t taste great, the special fried rice tasted mostly of egg and oil. Not good.

After waiting 2 hours for food they decided cancel order as couldn't deliver. Hung up phone on us. Had to go take away to collect order and then dwhen got home order was incorrect. Food was not that good and wouldn't recommend. How they had the nerve to charge a service charge.

Don’t know about the Chinese, but we all had the pizza at the end of a lovely day in the Lakes with friends. Easy to order over the phone, not too long a wait, and everyone was happy with their choices. Would definitely return.

Ordered take away here. Food was prepared quickly and piping hot. The menu is quite localized but food is fair - a bit Cantonese style.

I read the reviews on this takeaway and to be honest I'm pleased I ignored them. The food was delicious, we has sweet and sour chicken, chips, soft noodles and chicken fried rice with curry sauce and beef in green pepper and blackbean sauce. The portions were big enough that we heated it up and had it the next day.

Awful Chinese.. on holiday and ordered from here. Delivery was quoted at 1hr.. 2 hrs later it arrived.. food was awful.. not worth the money or effort

Had a takeaway last night , beef curry and a special curry, large portions and it was definitely one of the best we've had, will go again on our next visit

I've just read some of the reviews wish I had checked before lol It is bad if your expecting good Chinese food Everything wet with sauce so chow mien wetter than an over done pot noodle and crispy beef hot but with no depth swimming in sauce A Chinese person would not eat here im sure

Sweet and sour sauce was bright red and overpowering. The chicken chow mein was slimey and rubbery, genuinely don't know how you make chicken taste like that. It was inedible so thrown away. Phoned up to complain and was hung up on! Avoid at all costs!

Favourite take away in Keswick!

This is the worst Chinese I have ever bought, it all went in the bin, chow mein is like a one of those microwave chow meins you get, and starters are like the frozen prawn toast you get from Iceland, absolutely disgusting, the satay sauce was lumpy and looked microwaved did not even dare taste it as it looked really weird.

Decided to give this place another go after a couple of years ago we ordered a chicken curry and some of the chicken was raw. Nice and easy to order using the online app, chicken and sweet corn soup was really nice, sweet and sour chicken was okay but all the veg was very undercooked and far to much raw onion, peking sauce with prawns was nice, rice and noodles very good. Would order again. Delivery driver very friendly.

good food at good price, we stay in Keswick 3 times a year and this is our favourite takeaway, we use this place 3 or 4 times when we are here. Never had a bad meal.

On the whole quiet a good takeaway good service and good food, squid was alittle over cooked and so was the beef but no body is perfect!

I can’t fault the service, and we have ordered from here with no issue in the past - but this time, despite clarifying we are vegan several times on the phone we still received rice with egg in it, and in the black bean tofu dish I found a large chunk of what I think was beef - definitely some sort of meat. It ruined an otherwise tasty meal and makes me nervous ordering from there in future.

I didn't expect a great Chinese as they also do pizza and burgers. I was wrong!!!!!! Really good food and for Keswick the price was very reasonable. Will go again next time I am here.

not tasty at all - the chinese food. Ordered a lot of different dishes but all cooked the similar way - either sweet and sour or black bean source. Not real Chinese food. I doubt it's a Chinese chef....

respect what everyone else says, however, having been initially quite worried that you could get a decent Chinese from a place which also provided pizzas and only going there because nowhere else was open on a Tuesdsy, we ordered the Set Meal for 5 to be picked up at 1900, arrived there at 190 and it was ready, got home and thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal, and based on our experience would very much recommend!

Don't bother! Put the money towards a trip to China, you will actually get some decent food. Salt and petter chips bland/tasteless/soggy/. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Nice food. Portion sizes are just right. The only thing I wasn't sure of was the sweet and sour sauce. But would have food from here again.

Absolutely awful. Salt and pepper chips soggy and tasteless. Curry was ok but the chicken was the usual horrid rubbery boiled variety. Fried rice was like something microwaved out of a packet, it’s was not pleasant definitely hadn’t seen a wok.

The special chow mein (minus the prawns) was large and full of meat - it was great. The Singapore noodles were excellent as were the prawn crackers, however the spring rolls were slightly under cooked

Have eaten from here in the past, however the most recent visit will be the last. Opted for crispy wun tun starter, which was 4 pieces of soggy rubbish with a bit of prawn inside. The main of crispy beef was overcooked, the rest of the meal was laden with red and green chillies, onions and some carrot to the point it was overpowering. My son had popcorn chicken and chips which was lukewarm. Food didnt taste fresh. Waste of money.

I've eaten at the old restaurant many times and was always impressed but this was my first time at the takeaway and it was disappointing. The food did not taste fresh.

Had a lovely takeaway from Silk Road. Can't fault it good portions and delivered promptly. If we are back in Keswick we will use again.

Pedimos para la colección que estaba lista para nosotros cuando llegamos allí, así que el servicio es muy bueno.Sin embargo, la comida no era buena.Conseguimos 1/2 pato que he tenido más carne de 1/4 en otro lugar.Las bolas de pollo no eran comestibles ya que eran como bolas de masa con un poquito de pollo adentro.El curry estaba bien.El plato de pollo al limón y el langostino en salsa de Pekín eran medias porciones.Tengo esos platos donde vivo y los cartones están llenos hasta el tope.Llamé para quejarme por no recuperar mi dinero y el hombre ni siquiera se disculpó.No hace falta decir que no volveré.Muy rara vez hago una mala crítica, pero no podría dar nada más en esta ocasión.

I had spread ribs in Peking sauce and crab and sweet corn soup. Bother delicious. The prices are good. 7.50 total . That is better than going to casa bella where they charge a fortune or any other restaurant.

They kindly squeezed us in without a booking on a wet miserable night, the food was good as was the service.

Here on holiday wanted something quick and easy so came here for a pizza. Was quick, hot and really tasty

We ordered a take away and was told to collect in 15 minutes. We did but were handed the order. We didn't realise until we were back at our rented apartment. We had to take the food back and collect our order. By the time we got our meal it was cold and not very enjoyable. Not sure if we will be going back. Shame really because we have used this restaurant before and the food was great.

Recibí una entrega a domicilio, por 22. 20, pero cuando el repartidor llegó a la puerta, me informó que llegaría a 25. 20, ya que "el costo de envío es 3". Acepté eso, y fui a buscar dinero extra, antes de entregar el dinero al hombre que le dije, el recibo indicaba que la cantidad total era 22. 20, pero una vez más me habló de los gastos de envío, así que cumplí. Después de que se fue, inspeccioné el recibo, que acumuló los precios de toda la comida que pedí, y un 2. 50 gastos de envío, todavía a solo 22. 20.La comida estaba bien, pero desafortunadamente el hombre de entrega me estafó y por eso no volveré a llevar mi costumbre a Silk Road

Possibly the worst Chinese I have ever had, I would feed it to a heard of starving cats enduring a blizzard. The colour of the food was unnatural, a red which can not even be found on a Dulux colour chart. Didn't eat it. Tasted like Sellafield.

Sweet and sour chicken so red with colouring it stains the table and glows in the dark.... we tried 6 different dishes and can confidently say that the rice and prawn crackers were the only edible parts.

Fancied a Chinese takeaway , luckily we found the silk road. Must admit the menu does not sell it to well but to be honest we found it to be excellent. Great taste and a fair price unlike the restaurant further down the road. We do not use takeaways regularly but we would certainly try some other dishes from here again.

We bought take away meals for 3. They were ok but nothing special....rather dull I'd say.... My szechwan vegetables was in desperate need of some chilli sauce !

Staying at Castlerigg camp site, ordered as we were stranded in the caravan rain hammering down, dogs asleep. They drove up and delivered in good time, food all tasty and hot. Decent value too. 28.00gbp for 4 dishes with chips as a side delivered price.

Usamos Golden Hills y Silk Road para nuestra visita, la comida aquí es mucho mejor. Nuestros platos favoritos fueron la sal y la pimienta, la gamba, el pato en salsa de Pekín y el pollo a la miel / limón. El único punto para el personal, la tapa de cartón lateral de aluminio, i thin está destinado a ir al lado de la comida para mantenerla caliente: -). Frente de casa muy eficiente y fácil de ordenar.

This is the worst Chinese I have ever been to, the noodles tasted like mush which was a huge let down as it wasn't a cheep takeaway either. The chicken didn't have much taste and was very rubbery, the only good thing we ordered was sweet and sour but we didn't get any rice with this as noticed afterwards you have to order rice as an extra with any meal, this seemed odd to us as this is something that we have normally had with the meal and come with it as standard. Definitely won't be returning... This was the only time that we have ever wasted a Chinese

Just arrived in Penrith for a weeks break and this takeaway does great food.

This was a great restaurant. My favorite local Chinese. How ever it has closed and is now a far below average Italian restaurant. Not sure if silk road has moved but it is no longer at this location sadly.

Very acceptable Chinese restaurant.

Although uninspiring from the outside, we thought we'd give it a go and were not disappointed. The food didn't take long and the Chicken Curry and Duck Curry were both as good as we have had from a takeaway. I particularly enjoyed the mushrooms in the sauce, which I'm not used to.

Rang and ordered in advance. 20min wait was just right. Food was hot, home-cooked and delicious- loved the salt and pepper chicken and the crispy peking duck.

Lovely food and service was so fast! Inexpensive too! After a slight problem they had with our order, they delivered an alternative, replaces rice with noodles, which were delicious, and followed up by phone to make sure we were happy with the order!

We order takeaway pizzas here as they has stopped serving Chinese food. Never again...unless you like margarita pizzas just called something different

Very poor food quality. Got 3 calls from the take away within 10 minutes after being called to tell the food was ready. Husband who normally doesnt complain about food in general, didnot even finish his portion. Horrible chinese food ever tasted.
