We absolutely love this restaurant. We organised a celebration for daughters 21st. !5 close family and friends. Josh and Jade really couldn’t do enough to make the evening go well. From helping us sort out a set menu to organising a big table for us, it was perfect. The atmosphere and surroundings were perfect, the food was perfect, the wine was perfect, the service was perfect. I cannot recommend Pear and Olive highly enough. If you are anywhere near, be sure to visit

New owners Jade, front of house, and Chef Josh, have created a little gem. Every course was beautifully prepared - both the cooking and the visually. Every dish was a wonderful balance of great technique - both fish dishes were perfectly cooked - and just the right level of sauces and seasoning. We started with a home made chicken terrine with artichoke, superb, and river trout with pickled beets and sour cream. My monkfish on a bed of seasonal vegetables with a grapefruit reduction and tiny pieces of grapefruit was an inspiration. My wife’s cod was lovely. It is so rare, in and around Cambridge, to find a restaurant the does good, classic cuisine really well without trying to go over the top and imitate so called celebrity chefs. We can highly recommend the Pear & Olive and will be going back again.

There is a smart restaurant area, a more relaxed conservatory area and eating outside areas in a very attractive garden. They offer a small carpark but there is carparking space on the street. The owners are young and full of enthusiasm for you to have an enjoyable experience together with the staff who were helpful and friendly. The menu is small and more fine dining prices but the food was excellent.

Absolutely delicious three course meal with friendly and relaxed service to match. We loved everything we ate and it is obvious the chef takes great time and pride in perfecting each item on the menu. From the starters and mains, through to desserts, without doubt the best anniversary meal we have had in over twenty years and can't wait to return!

What a find! We’d passed this place a few times so thought we ought to give it a try one weekend lunchtime. What a lovely suprise to find such a gorgeous place. The sun was shining so we sat outside - a lovely outdoor area. We had a warm welcome and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. We had no idea what food to expect but everything we had was delicious - more fine dining than pub food, really fresh and great flavours. We had a beautiful heritage tomato and burrata dish, followed by delicious cod and then a tart tatin. And a gorgeous glass of Sauvignon blanc to top it off. Really impressed, looking forward to coming back.

I was tasked with organising a dinner for 25 people. The Pear and Olive just went that extra mile to accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble and we planned it together. The evening surpassed all expectations. The food was absolutely sublime. I have never tasted anything so good as the lamb wellington. The standard of service was exemplary, the staff just lovely. I have run out of superlatives to describe the experience, so I urge you to go and try it yourself

We have been to this restaurant many times over the years but this was our first experience under the new management. We were not disappointed, the refurbished restaurant and bar area have been transformed into a comfortable and charming place to spend an evening. This was our second Sunday lunch under the restaurant's new owner chef. It really is a "find" - great food, charming service and good wine. The raw cauliflower with curry flavours starter looked and tasted EXQUISITE, the english asparagus sauce gribiche was very good. The roast chicken - served with seasonal vegtables, roast potatoes and yorkshire was very good sunday fare, the pan roasted stone bass on a leek & spinach with mussel sauce was a really tasty alternative to the sunday roasts. For pudding we enjoyed a refreshing homemade blood orange sorbet. There was a good selection of wines by the glass and we enjoyed 2 different whites. The place has a good vibe and as word gets around, I imagine its conservatory bar and outdoor area will do equally well. We look forward to returning!

The Pear and Olive offers and rural and stylish setting. From the moment you arrive the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. As a starter, I was intrigued by the raw cauliflower, toasted almond and curry salad, but changed my mind. At the the last minute though, I changed back and went back to raw cauliflower and was very pleased I did. It was absolutely outstanding. The same goes for the sea bass followed by Tart Tatin. Both truly excellent. An evening meal can be spoilt by bad service, but not here. The service was every bit as good as the food. We're very pleased we live just 20 mins up the road.

Myself and my partner stayed for a weekend break and were met by Jade one of the owners and shown to annex which was beautiful and bed was extremely plush and comfortable. The kitchen area was complete with a fridge full of drinks and local milk. In the evening we dined in the restaurant and it went from being a lovely stay to an amazing one as the food was epic and I could do a separate review for on its own, suffice to say we can’t remember having a soup that was smoother and fish (Stone Bass) was incredible. There are a couple of walks within a couple of hundred metres that are really picturesque and a farm shop that is only 5-10 minute walk away that does brilliant coffee and has pop up food stalls on a Saturday so you can really have a relaxed time and not need to drive anywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning and the new owners have done really well in such a short time.

All I can say is that if you have a complaint about the food be aware you will receive the wrath of the owner!!! Very intimidating & sarcastic, I could even hear her slagging me off to her partner after I had spoken to her!!!so unprofessional!!This was in front of my mum & daughter, ruining what was supposed to be a little treat! I imagine there’ll be a reply to this but whatever reasons are given it doesn’t excuse rudeness & unprofessional behaviour!I must add that her partner did act in a professional way & kindly refunded my mum her money. Shame, as it’s nicely set out & coffee is good.

This was the best place to enjoy the end of lockdown2 - the food is just amazing.I had heard from a number of friends in the area that it was well worth trying. But even though my expectations were high, I couldn't believe just how good this food was.The deer decorating almost every bit of wall space prompted me to start with the Venison - it was both tender and tasty. But my lamb rack mains (one of five choices on the menu) was just out this world - cooked to perfection and just dripping with flavour. We shared two puddings between 3 of us - I am normally a Creme Brulee supremo, but the rich chocolate slab was to die for.The staff here are very friendly, and it was lovely to swap notes with the lovely Chef at the end of the evening. With 22 covers, you'll have to fight hard to get a table in this lovely gastropub. A great Sunday roast is hard to pull off, it takes organisation and flair to get all the component parts served perfectly and the pear and olive gets it right. She was running around making sure we had everything we needed and was so prompt with our food and drinks (which were amazing)! I had a posh panini and it was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had!! After speaking to Jasmine she went on to let us know that the chef has actually worked of some major Hollywood celebrities and it doesn’t surprise me as the food was epic! We've been here quite a few times, but always to eat inside, where the food is fabulous. Outside, at lunchtime, post-Covid was at small tables and chairs in the gravelled courtyard / garden. There is now a little wooden hut for purchases of nice relishes etc and a limited menu for dining here. When we saw a small range of panini and some avocado on toast on the blackboard, our hearts sank a little but we should not have worried. This is nothing like the run-of-the-mill stuff you get in town. The brilliant French chef patron creates some stunning effects and we ended up wishing for more, if our stomachs had not been full. This restaurant is an absolute gem. The food quality is impeccable, whether you come for a tapas night, roast dinner or a different occasion. Visited this restaurant several times and the dishes were always outstanding, whether it had meat, fish or was vegetarian; whether it was a starter, main course or dessert. For me, the composition of flavours in various courses is really a work of art performed by the restaurant’s chef.Pear and Olive is unusual for a typical restaurant goer as it is a ‘scratch kitchen’. It means the restaurant does not have a set menu and each day offers something different, depending on availability of ingredients and the chef’s inspiration. Rather than coming with something particular in mind, come in and let something tasty be put forward for you. It’s worth it – your meal will be composed of the freshest and best quality ingredients, supported by skill and knowledge of the owners. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a great selection of wines while waiting for your meal – remember that culinary art of top class requires time. It's a perfect place to celebrate any significant occasions with your family friends or partner. In terms of prices, they are higher than when you go to a pub or an ordinary restaurant around the area, but considering the quality of food, they are not too high and well worth it!

I went with three friends and whilst the food was pretty good the service was terrible. It’s clear there are just not enough serving in the restaurant. The waiter was rushed off his feet, having to serve drinks and food all on his own. This is certainly not a review for his obvious hard work, clear to see. An impossible task! For a restaurant of this calibre it is quite astounding to have to wait long periods and the wrong drinks were served. It is an extremely busy place and could do well, also expensive so why oh why have you not yet sorted the service out. This tainted the evening and it is safe to say we will not be returning.

This place has been recommended to us as a place, where you can have "the best Sunday roast". So we booked and went to experience it. Sadly, what we experienced was far from the best experience we anticipated. The place is rather small/cosy, but has a lot of character brought by interior design. So plenty of good vibes. However the service really let it down. Issues:1. Despite the rather imposing wine menu on the table (no food menu available today) and beautiful glasses, the waiter did not think was important to take the drinks order (wine), until we called another waitress and requested a single glass of wine.2. The other waitress, attempted to bring us orange juice that we did not order and was a bit confused if we have ordered or not already our food.2. The choice of roast was great - 4 types. However, would you be happy if the meal comes incomplete and on several occasions you need to remind the staff that they forgotten to bring the complete meal out? No excuses, that was busy, as we were only the second table to be served. However, the attention to detail was really lacking. The Yorkshire puddings (that have been promised by the verbal menu the waiter originally delivered) were forgotten, then towards the end of the meal, you realized that the staff have also forgotten another element - to bring the cauliflower cheese.Very disappointing and feels that the front of the house and the chef today (not the main chef), who was bringing the meals out of the kitchen, have really let the place down today. According to what was delivered to us today, I am afraid the place did not meet the expectations and will not be returning nor recommending it to others.

Having walked across the fields from Linton we arrived at the Pear and Olive to see a board outside saying ‘Tapas. Garden open’. We went towards the garden and looked in at the open door where another sign showed the opening hours from 11am on a Friday. We asked if we could have some coffee. The reply, shouted from inside was ‘I’ve only just arrived and we don’t open until 12’. It was 11.20am. We left. As we walked past the front door an individual came out and said ‘we open at 11.30’. We pointed out the sign at the back which clearly said 11am and also the blackboard which said that the garden was open. He was completely uninterested and verging on surly. What shortsightedness on his part. We might have come back for dinner in the evening. How difficult is it to say’give me 5 minutes and I’ll make you some coffee’. He needs to get another job. In fact, if he were working for me I would insist that he do just that. I shan’t be returning.

I have never before been to a restaurant that did not publish the menu in the restaurant. Perhaps it was there but we weren’t made aware of it. There was also no wine list. The wine was topped up and we were not sure what we were drinking or how much it cost. It turned out to be a tasting menu with fish. The portions were delicious but tiny. We had no idea how much they cost. The bill was high. We went home still hungry and had cheese and biscuits. It is a shame because it’s all a bit pretentious but the service, decor and ambience are very pleasant. We may go back but only after checking what is on the menu and what the charges are, will avoid ‘tasting ‘ menu as this seems a code word for skimpy food, no carbs to speak of and no vegetables either.

This place has an excellent reputation so we visited for an early evening drink and checked that they would be open for lunch the next day that they confirmed. I even spoke with the chef as my wife is lactose intolerant to be sure that he could adapt his cuisine. We duly turned up the next day for lunch to find the place closed. Our guest, a local resident, phoned them up to be told that "he" was out getting some parts as they were very busy in the evening and might open later! I am sure that their food is good BUT their customer service is non existant.

We have visited The Pear and Olive a few times now, always lovely food and knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is when they are really busy or are short staffed you can be in there for three hours before you finish! May I politely suggest that whilst having the waiting time explained to us, it would be really nice to have maybe homemade nibbles or olives, nuts, bread etc to fill in while we are waiting as it is such a long time to go without eating anything alongside our alcohol! It makes diners very restless just sitting with drinks and waiting such a long time for their food to arrive.

Visited now for the fourth time and it is very nice to see a changing menu every time we have been here in the last 8 weeks.

We had dinner on a Friday night. Benefited from a table of five having ordered five of the six mains on the menu, all of which looked excellent. To start tuna carpaccio (soft and delicate) and scallops (pleased that the coral was on and in an excellent broth). For mains perfectly cooked sea bass and pheasant, the latter with an excellent selection of heritage vegetables. Don’t normally have desserts, but we shared a chocolate torte - rich but not too sweet. Very well paced meal, with excellent and friendly service, the chef also took the time to speak to all the diners. Will come again.

Truly wonderful food (only 7 miles from Cambs), the chef is brilliant: his food amazing. Service was personal and excellent throughout. I came across Pear & Olive by accident (02/02/19): booked on a whim for that night: it was a very lucky find. We predominantly chose from the specials, there were loads!, but that’s surely the point of a ‘scratch’ concept. Bored Cambridge people looking for something better and new: this is the place! Only minor fault is that the kitchen isn’t McDonald’s speed, but we weren’t there for fast-food, we went for great food and Pear & Olive certainly delivered that.

Having read previous reviews we were really looking forward to having dinner there this weekend. We were very disappointed with our meal ,having been seated we had to wait nearly 2 hours for our meal to be served and when it did eventually arrive it was not as described on the menu. We ordered the home made tagliatelle this was slopped together with seafood and thrown on top some mussels which I do not eat and were not mentioned on the menu. Don’t think we will be going back.

My family and I stumbled across this place when we had an unexpected extra night in the UK. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere great, and the rooms were lovely to stay in.

First time visited premises with family after re opening. Made to feel very welcome by Michael. Menus are being updated so only had a drink. Good selection of wines and beers. Nicely refurbished and will certainly call again.

We spent a delightful evening at The Pear & Olive. It is comfortable & inviting for pre dinner drinks, the friendly staff didn't rush us to decide & we moved to dining table when meal was prepared. Food is excellent, menu changes frequently according to availability of produce - some options were 'off' by the time we chose at 20.15hrs, but a good selection remained. It is expensive but food is beautifully presented.

We stayed at the Three Hills early November 2024 and were very impressed. The room was lovely and well equipped. It was very clean and comfortable with an ample and luxurious shower room.

Visited for lunch and WOW!! Decided on the omelette and it was the nicest one I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and full of my chosen fillings. Asked for a glass of water and it came in a lovely decorated bottle straight from the fridge - lovely touch!!

Booked a Sunday lunch for 2. Good service and the food was excellent. The only observation was that I could have done with a little more meat but that didn’t spoil the meal at all. Loads of vegetables and cooked perfectly, not too hard and not too soft. All washed down with a splendid pint. It’s not the cheapest but it’s not the most expensive and I’d say you get good value for the cost. Very much recommend a visit.
