Pear Mill Vintage Tea Rooms in Stockport

Excellent to see vegan options added finally - they have been a long time coming. I have been visiting the tea room for several years and visit a couple of times a month on average. Lovely mix and match teapots, cups, and plates. Some of the teapots could do with a slightly better clean of the spout to remove ingrained dirt but nothing too severe. An excellent selection of cakes are available. They’re mainly store bought/for-trade and you’ll see them as standard offerings in lots of cafes; there is absolutely nothing wrong with this and let’s face it, all we’re looking for is an honest slice of cake to go with our tea or coffee, not a French Patisserie experience. Lovely to have dominoes and cards available on the tables to play games and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere where you don’t feel rushed, which is rare. The Tea Rooms also have some of the space to sell product towards the back of the mill and on a couple of occasions, I have been approached very nicely and kindly by staff to offer to help or show anything I am interested in. This is quite the welcome contrast to the attitude of the staff on the till at the entrance/exit. 50p extra for oat milk is hopefully something that will become just a standard option in future, considering the £3.00 cost for a latte that is smaller in size than a Starbucks small drink, with Sbux being cheaper for the same size before the addition of the oat milk charge. Likewise, the markup on several soft drinks is more than you’ll find in motorway service stations. Inflation is impacting everyone, however, the price point of “not worth it” isn’t too far away for several customers on quite a few items (from conversations I’ve overheard over the past six months or so). I hope the tea rooms continue to thrive in the Vintage Emporium.

I go here 2-3 times a week and it is always so lovely. Best coffee around ; food is lovely and the staff are so welcoming and helpful.

Extremely bad experience, really unmannered manager with nasty actitud, treating costumers like rubbish. Avoid t all costs. The staff is untrained and completely caos. Please AVOID!

We were served quickly with tea and cake, we ordered, but waited nearly 50 mins for a panini, and ended up having to leave just as these were ready. The panini's have been good in the past, though the service again for lunch slow, and the cake was lovely today, but the organisation around the order taking and bring food out really needs to improve, particularly as it didn't seem very busy. Would recommend them for tea and cake, but not for anything more substantial due to the organisation around the service

Yeah was good food but that big girl at front of desk is so rude it's untrue made me feel uncomfy heard her shouting at other team members for nothing will go again if she doesn't serve me need new staff

What a great place, a real welcome break after exploring the vintage items and shops surrounding this place. Great service, great selection of food, served in a great atmosphere, with cards and dominoes available to keep you entertained.

I love that everything is served in vintage cups, saucers and teapots. Brew Tea brand tea locally sourced and all those homemade cakes. A lovely spot for tea, coffee and lunches!

Visited the tea room on Sunday and 24th July and the place was very very busy. staff were run off their feet clearing tables and serving people. There was a very angry old woman, I would call her a lady, but she was far from it. She was barking instructions, waving her arms ranting and raving at this young girl who was doing het very best to clear the tables. She seemed to go totally out of her way to humiliate this poor young lady. My partner tried to console the young lady, but she was too upset about the way she was treated, and she was visibly crying . There are ways and Means to deal with staff, not standing at the end of a room with a face like thunder, waving her arms about and shouting and bawling at people this was happening all the time we were there. My partner wanted to go and have a word with a Rottweiler at the end of the café, but I’ve persuaded him otherwise, and told him not to get involved, but she needs to learn how to look after the staff not Berrate and show them up.

We went for lunch enjoyed it so much we came back for afternoon tea! I can highly recommend the paninis. Sooo tasty and piping hot. With a little salade and coleslaw on the side a delicious lunch treat. Smiley happy welcoming team serving. What's not to like? There were lots of scrummy cakes to choose from for pudding. We went back and had our cake with a cuppa later after having a good wansmder around the mill.

Really disappointed was told they use tittertons pork sosage however they don't they were from rileys.. totally different flavour was very dry and tasteless. Not to mention the lack of enthusiasm from the staff. Not surprising with the angry lady owner on their back constantly very off putting

I love this place. You’re greeted with a smile and delicious food is on the menu. There’s a buzzing team in the café getting orders out at top speed. It’s hospitality at its best.

Very disappointing which is a shame as this place could be fantastic ! This is our second visit and on both occasions the service has been very very slow and the staff appear to be unhappy… It wasn’t busy and we unfortunately had to wait over half a hour for a panini, when asked how long our food would be it appeared nearly immediately which made us think they had forgotten. The cafe is a great addition to the shop itself but the front of house/kitchen service needs to be improved, then this place would be great.

I loved our visit here. It really matters to me to be eating in a positive environment. All the café staff were helpful and welcoming. We had panini and lattés. Everything was just perfect. Bravo team Pear Mill Tea Room :-)

Found this on a internet search, it looked very quirky and ideal for a birthday visit for my daughter and grandson. However, on arrival we asked for the ingredient list of the cakes as my grandson is intolerant to milk protein, they said they had a list but would not or could not supply this (despite this being a legal requirement)! They just said all of the cakes contained milk! My daughter was understandably very frustrated by this attitude. I was told that they did not cater for people with food allergies. My reply was, they need to put this on their website!! If you have any allergies or food intolerances this is not the cafe for you.

Just visited here and had a coffee and a crumpet. So nice all the cakes and sandwiches looked lovely. What made it was it was dog friendly too. Offered water for my pooch too. So glad I’ve found this place as I can now have a coffee and cake while waiting for my husband when he’s been shopping.

Few of the cakes are homemade. Some frozen or market bought. Young staff spoken to like dirt buy the very rude elder ladys who I presume own the place. And the staff are very subdued. Almost morbid. Lovely surroundings awful attitude

Food, service an staff all to be commended. Love the vintage feel of the place, makes it homely and friendly. They also play 60's music which is a big plus.

Booked online, only when I called to confirm told me they rarely look at there online bookings so not booked! What can we say it is 2021! No apology either

I used to work at the Tea Room and absolutely loved it. The staff were all amazing and our boss Rachel provided us with a free meal every day whilst we had our breaks (and occasionally a lovely slice of cake)! Absolutely can’t fault the Tea Room or the staff there. Such a lovely place to go for an Afternoon Tea or to go on the hunt for some brilliant vintage jewellery or tea sets!

iFrst of all Linda who served us was wonderful and Rachel , the manager a credit to the tea room. So four of us my sister, wife and Italian brother in law , had coffee , tea and cakes . the coffee was the best Ive ever had. Shocking treatment of staff..... young adults treated like slaves. Filthy kitchen... Cakes not fresh.. they are frozen and defrosted from a wholesalers. Staff told to cut mold off bread and serve it.

We visited today, a last minute plan! And had sandwiches and a selection of the cakes which were lovely. I mentioned to the lady behind the counter that it was my mums birthday, and the next thing we knew “Happy birthday to you” was playing...

Absolutely a great place.... the mill is nice to wander around & it's a relief to be able to sit, eat and/or have a hot or cold drink, & even lay cards or other games which a on the tables.. food and cakes are spot...

On arrival,table groaning with beautiful cakes but not one of them vegan,NO plant based milk for your hot drink,a lot of it is “long life” so wouldn’t be too hard to get some in stock,one lady was helpful and I ended up having a full...

As fairly regular visitors to the antique emporium and tea room we were happy to see they had reopened. We went midweek and were pleased to see hand sanitizer, most staff wearing masks and a one way system which encouraged social distancing through the antique...

We had a reserved table for afternoon tea which was fabulous! Lovely vintage crockery, tasty sandwiches and choice of delicious cakes and scones all served by friendly staff. Perfect! Highly recommended. Will most definitely return 👌☕️🍧

First visit to this cafe and this will be a very honest review. We ordered food and the menu was ok. Not a great choice to choose from to be honest and nothing vegan. I’m not a vegan but I still think there should be...

Nothing for vegans!! Out of 20 odd cakes there was literally nothing for vegans apart from (apparently) soup. GREAT. I personally am sick of places not catering for vegans, move with the times! Some of us don't want to eat the bodily secretions of cows...

Great choice of hot and cold lunches or afternoon tea and cakes. Even ice creams for the kids. Good prices and friendly quick service.

Drinks brought straight away but waited ages for food. Very average pannini's and at £5.50 each thought they were expensive. We were really disappointed after reading all the great reviews.

Called into the cafe with my brother who was over from Australia.We had a great day, the cafe is brilliant we had a pot of tea and cakes.The 2 ladies that run the cafe are lovely and chat to all the regulars.I will defo visit again thanks girls :)

A charming vintage cafe in the massive Pear Mill Vintage Emporium. The cafe has a great range of food and snacks - you can get cooked breakfast, sandwiches, toasties, home made soups etc - but they are best known for the huge selection of mouth watering cakes - from home made scones, flapjacks to special cakes for every taste- they even have vegan and gluten free options. I had the dark chocolate and orange cake and it was fabulous. Staff are really helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this place!

2 of us had some lovely home made leek & potato soup with a roll. Large bowl so plenty of it. 1 had equally tasty brie & cranberry panini. Large pot of tea between the 3 of us with lovely china crockery & tea pot. £15 for all that so very reasonable.Went back later for coffee & cake. Delicious. Plenty of choice.Nice clean cafe with friendly staff.

Called at the mill to look at some curios,at the vintage emporium,,to find the vintage tea room set at the back of the room ,absolutely amazing,sat at the table eating real tasty food with local sourced food ,home made cakes...really friendly staff that make you feel at home..,also surrounded buy really interesting items that your can view and buy...makes for a fabulous experience ..,thankyou

My partner and I had our wedding ceremony here. We had been looking for somewhere unusual for our wedding. One day we just straight up asked if we could take it over for the day. The staff were brilliant, and really helpful.

Great food, great cakes and excellent coffee served by nice people so will definitely be back soon- fab!

A lovely afternoon tea and browse around the stalls in the tea room. Very much a blast from the past on the stalls. A lovely find in the stop over before flying from Manchester the next day.

From the mismatched furniture, the array of cakes on cake stands to the eclectic mix of china when it all arrives on the table .. and the staff who are always friendly. Noticed last time we were in that there were games on the tables .. a fantastic addition. There is no hurry here.

Fab little quirky tea room! Sadly we didn’t have time for a slice of cake after our panini’s (which were lovely) so will definitely be going back for some cake! Lots to choose from, staff very friendly and lots of cool stuff to look at!

5 star cakes and drinks,sandwiches and much more.Beautifully clean and very friendly.The numerous cakes are fresh and under glass domes so presented at their very best.Just difficult to choose from.!!!!

What a surprise the vintage tearoom was I stopped off for a coffee and was tempted by the leek and potato soup cooking away in the kitchen a lovely family run tea room with polite staff and excellent music

I love going to this cafe, I can have a mooch round the vintage stalls first and finish my shopping with a lovely piece of cake and tea, or a delicious steaming bowl of home cooked soup and a fresh bread roll. The staff are lovely, very friendly and are happy to welcome dogs into their cafe. The tea is served in a pot and to your table, all the china is mismatched and there are vintage games on some of the tables. I’m never disappointed by the food or service here.

Situated at the back of the vintage emporium you will find this amazing tea room filled with cakes a plenty you will be spoilt for choice. We went mid week and it was very busy so i can see its a very popular place with locals.

Had sausage muffins and cornflake cake....staff are very efficient and friendly...vintage crockery matches ambience created by music and surroundings. Great place to visit if you’re into vintage. A Northern gem

What a gem- in the middle of an old mill surrounded by vintage products including the tables, chairs and crockery. Scrummy cakes, food brought to your table, games to play on the tables.

Been here a couple of times an and have not been disappointed .Lovely food and it's quirkiness of the china cups and teapots and even dominoes to play .Always had service with a smile .Highly recommended.

This is a vintage themed cafe inside a large vintage shop, part of a former Mill building. There's ample parking and lots more to do on the site, so you can easily kill a few hours in shops.

I was so shocked when my mum told me that this place existed, and was literally right round the corner from our house! I had never heard of it, and now I’ve been, I definitely think it needs more exposure.

Great value ,the food is fresh and the service is with a smile we had a ham and cheese panini ,coffee, and a nice piece of orange and chocolate cake.

Excellent Called in by chance. Fab cakes and vegetarian range. Quirky. Vintage teapots and china cups. What’s not to like. A definite must. Great to browse through the vintage china not to mention the treasures in the rest of the store.

Best homemade soup I've had for a long time. Staff very friendly. Would highly recommend. Very knowledgeable about the range of food as I'm vegetarian.

Bright and spacious cafe at Pear Mill Shopping Village. Coffees, teas, even a temperance bar! Too bad the juke box wasn't playing when I was there. Very interesting as many of the items are for sale. The cake was delicious.
