Had a lovely set menu meal for two. Chicken & sweetcorn soup, small combination tray, sweet & sour chicken, beef in black bean & rice. All tasted good was lovely. Drinks good. Nice atmosphere & setting. Prices really good too. If I had to be negative I would just say staff are all miserable not very friendly at all.

It’s stuck in the 80s decor wise. Why would you deep fry in batter ribs? They were also tough and fatty. The duck was dry, the chicken full of colouring. In a word awful.

All the food that we ordered were delicious. I specially liked the ribs-it was deep fried and crisp with deliciously marinated!! Will come again

Can’t count how many times friends and I have been. Everytime we go we have a good time, great food and service. No dish has ever been substandard. Only issue is going back downstairs to near the entrance to use the toilet.

Don't bother with this provider. Rude staff. No manners, unwelcoming. Terrible experience. Don't know how you survive. The hospitality industry is not helped by this kind of behaviour. Terrible food. Wake up and take a look in the mirror please. Cold plates with chips in the enamel. Stained table clothes. VILE.

Amazing food from start to finish. Only got 4 stars because when we booked for Valentine’s Day they never told us it was banquet only. We even sat down with the full menu for 10 minutes deciding what to order then when we went to order we was told banquet only. We just about managed to change enough items to make a meal we really enjoyed. service could be a bit more friendly but was ok. Highly recommend and hopefully the service issue was a one off.

Whilst Ormskirk has several Chinese Takeaways, it only has (I think!) 2 actual Chinese Restaurants, of which The Peacock Inn, is by far the superior of the 2. I've visited twice; the first time was 22 Years ago, following my University Graduation, and the 2nd, last Weekend, to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Both Times were with Family Members. It's an ideal Location for both, Business Lunches, and special Family Celebrations, surrounded by authentic Chinese Decor, and Hospitality. The Restaurant is situated on the Town's Outskirts, and requires you to navigate the, "One Way System" to get there. Although the Restaurant is situated by a, "Pay and Display" Car Park, this is often quite busy and full. There are, however, several other, "Pay and Display" Car Parks within easy Walking Distance. The Restaurant is situated on the First Floor,of its Building, with Stairs being the only method of Entry and Exit (so may be unsuitable for potential Diners with Mobility Challenges). Booking is advised due to its popularity, especially if the Booking is for a large number of guests. Welcome, Hospitality, and Customer Service, is First Class, as is the choice/price of the Food and Drink Menus available (can highly recommend the £14.95, 4-Course Sunday Lunch Menu). A fantastic experience, and highly recommended. See you all again soon.

No warm greeting, in fact shouted at "have you booked" which we had. Food OK no complaints there, just served by very miserable staff. I noted six staff, one of which smiled, a young lady with glasses. Maybe she could do some staff training on how to be pleasant. I felt like I was in the middle of the Adams family. A smile is the window to your soul that let's us know your heart is at home. Please a simple hello and goodbye goes a long way. Won't be returning anytime soon

We ate at this establishment on Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy. However the food was excellent as was the service. This was the first time I had visited and had a very enjoyable evening. Thankyou.

We got a takeaway from Peacocks as it was a birthday so thought we would try something a bit more special. It wasn't worth the extra money compared to any other chinese. We spent £59 on 5 meals 2 rice and 2 chips and that included the 25% discount for it being a takeaway. It was tasty but not worth it sorry!

I am a frequent visitor to the Peacock after being recommended by a friend. I went once and hook. I either eat in or get takeaway.I love the salt and chilli chicken here. Food is always top notch and staff are wonderful, love the family atmosphere.I do have one small gripe I think as a restaurant its ok pricewise but takeaway its very expensive, they need to look into that!

I have been here on numerous occasions because its the only chinese in Ormskirk with friends and with my partner and children. Everytime I have been I thought ... "I need to re-mortgage my house to pay for this". The staff constantly walk past you waiting to clear your plates, there is no manners witrh this place. I just feel they wear little black masks and its you that ends up being over nice to them. One time I went in with a girlfriend and ordered a meal between the two of us and no word of a lie,, the manager had a little chuckle as he took our order.Overpriced restaurant with bad manners!

Very good selection of dishes - staff able to offer excellent advice as to quantities, delicious food albeit a little on the expensive side.

The food cannot be faulted and service is really good. This is probably the best Chinese food anywhere and generous portions. The only problem is the pricing as mentioned in other reviews. The best thing to do is order loads of starters, don’t bother with a main meal. We have been going there on and off for 8 years and have noticed that the restaurant is not as busy as it used to be. The take away side seems busier. This is a real shame because I cannot praise the food enough. The restaurant is so clean as well even the toilets. You have to go if you are looking for a decent meal in Ormskirk.

The Peacock serves very good quality Chinese food. The only drawback with the place is that if you don't order the banquet menus, your almost paying that amount (£20) for a main and some rice. The problem is, if you do order the banquet, you end up with too much food. If they allow it (which they did the second time we went), order a banquet for 2 between 3, or a banquet for 3 between 4 of you. That gives you just the right amount of food, for decent value. Don't know why they price like they do, but its really quite annoying. Service and food both very good for a Chinese. They are a friendly and personable team.

I love Chinese food and The Peacock is another class. It's a cut above most Chinese restaurants and going there feels like a special treat. The takeaway food is also an excellent standard

Very short staffed only 5 staff to serve the food and drink...When we did get our food it was very nice( rose wine was a no no) but certainly not cheap... My wife and I used to love going peacock but will be giving it a miss in future

Great food. NOT a chippy, a Chinese takeaway, so no fish, sausage, pie etc. Remember that before you go. It is very good Chinese takeaway food!!
