Food was nice but the staff is a bit slow

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had! Food was completely tasteless and didn’t even taste like Chinese food. Thai food is tasteless as well so don’t order if you want authentic cuisine

Ordered from Paya's Reading at the start of January. Had mixed starters to start. Literally a spoonful of crispy seaweed, ribs were tough, fatty, little meat and tasted rancid. I had Kung po king prawns, but it wasn't! It was a few prawns with a bit of veg, nuts and a dribble of bland sweet chilli sauce. Not like any Kung po I've ever had, and I've had a few! I complained via email, never had a reply. I've spent a few quid there over the years but won't be going back! Avoid unless you want to pay good money for poor food...

I have been ordering from this place a few times every time the food has been PERFECT and every time I had my order hot like just came out of the kitchen I just want to say THANK YOU GUYS KEEP IT UP

The food was nice and affordable. I will give 9/10. Sadly, we couldn't dine-in. They said they didn't have the license for that.

Amazing food and good customer service

Had many issues with our food tonight. firstly the restaurant called 2 mins before the estimated delivery time informing us that they didn’t have one of the items we ordered. We were told on that call that the food would be 20-25 mins but it was over 40 mins after that, around 1.5 hours for a 2 person meal, and we thought that was bad until we actually got to the food. The rice was cold, the satay chicken was dry and tough. I found not one but 2 hairs in the rice and prawn crackers. We will never order from here again!

Great and efficient service . The prices are reasonable and the food is great , great variety of dishes, will definitely recommend chicken or beef noodles.

Good and affordable food, ready in 15-20min. Great customer service, they easily accommodated food allergy substitutions and the meal came with a complimentary fortune cookie and hand wet wipe.

very disappointed, low quality food, small portions, over 70min waiting time.

Ordered Crab and Sweetcorn Soup as one of the starters. They sent what looks and tastes like wallpaper paste with those fake seafood sticks instead of crab meat. When I called to complain they said they didn't believe me and to take it up with Deliveroo.

Prices have shot up and smaller portions!Whats that about?They should be careful-they will go out of business!!

Quality seems to have gone down hill and their prices have been racked up. I don't like seeing a price for a dish and then finidng out it's going to be a couple of pounds more to have the meat added! Not to mention the fact they are now stuffing more vegetables and less meat into the dish! Shall be avoided from now on!

Love the different selections and tasty food

We ordered online thru deliveroo. Food servings were enough for 4 people. We were really fond of the crab and corn soup which was really good. The chow mien we order just lacks a bit of flavour, the ribs (barbecue) was also good and the salted chicken was tasty. 🙂

Chose the king prawn pineapple fried rice: The positive is we got a lot of prawns BUT this dish tastes nothing like the original!!! The rice was overcooked, the prawns were tasteless and clearly only boiled, I couldn't really taste the pineapple and that was it, nothing else in the rice to really taste. The most tasteless dish EVER. First time I've thrown away food.

Ordered 3 times and has been over 20 to 30 minutes late each time. The 3rd time I selected a time well in advance and it was still late. Last time I will ever order from here again. Terrible service

Have been ordering from Paya for quite some time have to say the food always tastes amazing. Worth every penny. The Nasi goreng is my favourite dish without a doubt. Food always comes on time aswell. Definitely going to be ordering again from this place! Best in Reading!

Spent nearly £35 from this takeaway as our main other takeaway was closed. We decided to give Paya a try since they are close to us and we wanted food quickly as we have two young hungry children. The delivery was fine, the guy didn't say much just handed the food over. However upon inspection and eating, it appears that the duck spring rolls were burnt to a crisp, they hardly tasted of duck whatsoever. The sweet and sour hong kong style dressed chicken was chewy, horrible and did not taste nice at all. The same could be said for the beef. The beef was chewy, stringy and was so difficult to chew through that we just couldn't give any of it to our children in fear that they would choke! The pad thai hardly had any chicken inside it, in fact I had to fish the chicken out and only counted about 5 small pieces. The chow mein was decent but overshadowed with the rest of the bland, burnt and chewy food we received. I don't think I will order from this place again, better to stick to the regular that we know! The only plus I would give the place was the prawn crackers and the coke bottle. I mean, how can they mess up a coke bottle!

Left food outside without knocking (aparantly) so it was stolen. Rude on the phone and didn't seem to care. Surely you'd make sure someone comes out to take the food before you do anything???

Food didn’t arrive, but restaurant adamant it did. Instead of making sure it was sent or resending, fobbed me off to Deliveroo. Don’t recommend - they simply don’t care!

Food was reasonable however, the delivery driver was very rude. My partner opened the door and was a immediately insulted by the driver who then dropped (not placed) our food on the floor and walked off. Completely unacceptable and uncalled for.

This is the silliest customer service I have ever received in my life, restaurants like this need to be shut down for lack of business etiquette, this Chinese restaurant is actually a joke, I hope the so called 'manager' sees this comment, because he even makes matters worse with the rude stunts him and his delivery guys pull, by the way they act they might soon run out of customers. ONLY ORDER FOOD FROM HERE IF U WANT TO BE INSULTED FOR SPENDING YOUR MONEY.

Ordered Chicken Fried rice and Prawns fried rice! The portion sizes are good! the dishes were on the drier side, but it was warm and nicely done! Can give try to other dishes as when it comes to Chinese - Fried rice is the safe bet and now I can experiment more :)

A little over priced but definitely the best in reading

A friendly delivery driver and tasty food! It arrived earlier than expected, and was delicious. Some constructive criticism, less sauce on the chicken satay and better sized dim sum!

Slightly more expensive than some Chinese takeaway, but easily worth it. Delicious food and fast if you collect.

Part of my order was missing. The only communication I received was that the food was on its way. The guy arrived and said by the way part of the order isn't there so you'll get a refund. This is unacceptable as I would rather know in advance so I could amend order, replace item or even order elsewhere to ensure we have enough food. Obviously there is a reason we ordered what we did and to get only some if it after waiting for 5 minutes is simply not good enough. Also no sign of refund so I am going to have to spend time chasing that. So the service would get a zero rating if possible, as would delivery time as it was. Quality of the food I did receive was mediocre and tthe Pad Thai was baiscally plain noodles with chicken, no Thai flavour at all.Never ordering again .

THe food is alright, but I can’t order from here anymore, twice in a row someone’s food hasn’t been in the bag, instead of it being delivered they tell you, 10% off next time. You order again and more food is missing. Good Chinese but can’t guarantee your getting your food or that it’s warm, when you complain the staff aren’t bothered. No customer service at all.

Not great food at all. Expensive tasteless food. Would not recommend this food, chefs are not the best and struggled to find anything worthwhile to say about this place, other then avoid if you are looking for good Chinese.

I dont usualy order chinese takeaway, I always cook my self but because i am ill today dan need to eat. I order from oaya take away thru hungry house website. Chinese drunken chicken, spicy tofu and veg, mushroom fooyung and steam rice .... the foods is disgusiting ... tasteless ...especially chinese drunken chicken ... thats not the way we cook chinese proper chinese drunken chicken ...its so yucky ... thats just chicken fillet cook with corn flour with chinese wine and thin slice spring onion ...i wish i can put the pics about their food i ordered. The muahroom fooyung not nice at all. No idea why watery ...thespicy tofu and veg just cook with kind chili oil ... Please dont waste your money ... go order somewhere else ...i am not hapoy at all spent that much money for yucky food. Better go to cosmo reataurant .... at least you can find something nice and taste nice ...

Chinese takeaway with good food nothing flash but good quality

Just had to return my meal for a refund, first time ever doing that for a Chinese. This was the absolute worst Chinese I've ever had, the food was dry, tasteless and cold. Never eating here again.

I received my order but it was missing the crackers (which I paid for), the hoisin sauce is watery and disgusting, the duck over-salty and a very ungenenerous (warm) portion of spring onion and cucumber. terrible

Hour and 20 mins for a cold bag of greasy disgusting food to be delivered and the could care less about it.. rather eat road kill than eat from these people again ! But if you like that sort if food and service then they are ideal !

Simply awful, cold tasteless rubbish and an hr late. Spring rolls had no filling literally, two spare ribs were just bones and worst black bean sauce I've ever tasted. Would have given minus stars but not an option. Go elsewhere.

Took over two hours for food to arrive, food was cold and also not cooked. Not worth the time, even when called they didn't seem bothered!

Just tried lemon chicken which tasted and smelled so bad, couldn't even complete one bite. I contacted Paya to complain and the stated in an online chat with them: nothing they can do, I am only welcomed to leave a review. Very disappointed. I shouldn't give them any stars but Google reviews won't allow me.

Wish I'd read the review before ordering! The chicken is rubbery, the curry is bland, it is a mistake to order here...

Just got the food, chicken is not edible and 'thai' red curry tastes like chicken chow mein. Worried we will get food poisoning due to the quality so it's now going in the bin!

Food hygiene concerns. The takeaway was delivered quickly and tasted pretty good, but both my partner and I had an upset stomach the following day. Sadly, this seems to be a theme in the non-generic reviews for this restaurant.

Got food poisoning from this place. The food tasted OK, but given that it's about the only thing that could have caused my past 36 hours of diarrhoea and intestinal cramping, won't be going back.

Quick delivery. Bad food, although quite edible. Their "Thai" red curry seemed to be a thickened water based sauce. Overpriced given the poor quality.

It was just the second order from paya and especially the mains and rice were not eatable. The only reason why it is 2 stars is because of relatively good dim sum and delivery on time. Despite that, i would definitely not order again
