Was absolutely disgusted with the manager marko He has no customer skills at all The bar staff Tara and ashleigh were brilliant had all the skills to make a customer feel welcome the manager marko made me feel uncomfortable and awkward Would not recommend a visit if he is behind the bar or on the premises those poor girls have to work in an environment that is not friendly for a pub/club night spot in town has not been an enjoyable visit

Una mesera tomó mi vaso con un cuarto de pinta dentro y luego juró ciegamente que estaba vacío. Ella no se ofreció a reemplazarlo y su actitud fue tal que la habría despedido si hubiera sido su Gerente. El gerente, que estaba allí, no ofreció ningún comentario ni resolución de ningún tipo. Me mantuve muy tranquilo y educado durante lo que solo puedo describir como una arrogancia excepcional. ¡Luego! después de pedir otra pinta, la dejó en la barra y la ignoró mientras llevaba bandejas de bebidas a otras mesas, haciéndome esperar 15 minutos mientras se calentaba y se aplanaba. Me hicieron sentir muy incómodo porque soy un hombre de cuarenta y tantos años que acababa de entrar por un par de pintas mientras esperaba a alguien y sintió que querían irritarme para que me fuera para poder liberar mi mesa para más clientes. El personal de la puerta fue educado y acogedor, pero el gerente y la camarera eran incompetentes y sus habilidades de servicio al cliente son pésimas. El barman desarrolló una actitud cuando solicité educadamente un reembolso. Es un lugar terrible si no eres adolescente. Claramente, les gusta cierto "tipo" y harán que cualquier otra persona se sienta muy incómoda. Si me ofrecieran un vale de 50 no volvería.

Look guys, Pavlov’s Dog is 5 minutes away from my house so I regularly go there to work on my laptop, have meetings or socialise with friends. I went into Pavs on Saturday afternoon and simply asked for a coffee and a breakfast, one of my breakfast requests was for scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs, so the girl that served me went to ask the chef if it was possible ( I’m obviously expecting a yes at this point because even my 3 year old nephew can make them), only for her to come back and tell me that their chef said he couldn’t do it? Why couldn’t your chef make scrambled eggs? Is it because he’s lazy, has questionable hygiene, couldn’t be bothered and thought f*ck it, we’re closing for refurb soon and no ones going to call me out on it? Well here I am mate, I’m calling you out on your bullsh*t. It’s quite embarrassing to be honest, I don’t think a refurb is going to change staff attitudes, you lot might as well not re-open if that’s going to be your attitude towards customers. Btw, the girl who served me made absolutely no effort to resolve the situation or get her manager involved, she just simply didn’t care and was happy to lose a customer.

Nos detuvimos en el pub para tomar el último trago alrededor de las 11 pm en la noche del Orgullo de lectura. El servicio debe haber sido el más lento en lectura. En 10 minutos, solo 4 personas fueron atendidas por 3 personas. Un barman estaba más ocupado hablando con sus colegas en lugar de mirar la cola y luego tomando órdenes al azar haciendo que la gente esperara aún más por sus bebidas. Evitaría este lugar y aconsejaría poner más personal en turno en un día ocupado.

This is a nice little pub in the town centre with good, friendly bartenders. There is an outside area at the back of the pub. I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat there but the menu looked good.

Put a few reviews on trip advisor and visited this place for work as I was away, wings Wednesday was awesome and the friendliest bar staff in reading served us and couldn’t have been more helpful. It looks and feels like a student pub, and guess what, it’s a student pub but the wings are great, the beer is great and the bar staff especially Saffron and Willow couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Best bar staff in reading without question! Thanks Saff!

I only recently discovered this place and highly recommend it. I love their selection of beers that change every Friday!

We went there last night to meet up before dinner. I don’t think I will be going again because no one was cleaning the tables . The tables were sticky and looked like they had not cleaned the tables at all last night and someone nearly hurt himself by tripping over a wire that should not have been there. I am really not recommending this place at all. It is a shame.

We are going here very often and usually perfect service. The only perfect thing this time was bar staff. We ordered some breakfast, wings and onion rings and it took more than 30mins to come. It was not busy at all. I didn’t see any food coming out before ours. It looked like they changed chef as this never happened before. That waiting is not the worst, chicken wings were completely burned. Breakfast looked like served to prisoners. Mushrooms cooked probably from morning. Looked like black pudding. Not single piece of bread, burned egg, bacon hard. I used to work in hospitality and this was how it shouldn’t look like. Only good and tasty this time was that onion rings. We will definitely go for beer again, but food that is question.

Been here a few times for drinks in the sun, finally got the food and omg it was amazing The angry fries are perfect! Great service :)

We were let down by SMASH, the pizza oven was broken. I had 30 people for a work event (they hadn't told us to make sure we didn't cancel). They knew as 5pm, we turned up at 6.30 and were told then. I went into panic mode,thinking what do I do with 30 people to feed in the next 20 mins! I ran over to Pav's not expecting the amazing service I received. Spoke to Luke and he said of course, not a problem at all, they would clear an area and speak to the chef, Jake came out to see me, plan what we wanted and what we could do in that time frame. I got the rest of the group from SMASH, came over and they had cleared an area, cooked enough food was everyone, put water out on the tables (all in 20 mins). Service was quick, amazing service, food was excellent, everyone happy :) Thank you guys, both of the guys should be commended for the service we received! You saved the night! :)

The food and drinks we had ordered were great, the staff were friendly until we used their secret DJ app we had put 3 songs on but it had seemed like they had cut us off early as our 2nd song stopped half way through

Food is quick and tasty and cooked to a high standard, drinks are served quickly and efficiently and all the staff are so polite and lovely, caters to all people, selection of ales and beers are diverse and aimed to suit all tastes, wonderful bar, would return time and time again.

I had thought it was just a bar until the menu caught my eye and we noticed families inside on a late afternoon. We had the Tuesday pancake special - 25p per pancake and 50p for the maple syrup. The drinks on offer were rather expensive so we took a pass even though I did want to try the perry. Left just as the office workers were strolling in for their evening drinking sessions before going home.

A great and quirky place wth a variety of craft beers and lagers plus excellent value food and plenty of screens for sport watching (if that's your thing) plus part of the 'more' card scheme make this place well worth visiting and saving while you spend.....

Group of 6 of us came for a works lunch. There was only a couple of other people in the pub - which was just as well, as it looked like there was only one overworked guy cooking and serving. Our meals were served one by one over a period of around 25 minutes. None of the dishes were served with the mushrooms that they should have been according to the menu. Portions are quite small, but fairly tasty and prices are very low - comparable to Wetherspoons. Good to see a couple of hand-pumped ales available and a decent pint of Brew Dog IPA at a not unreasonable £4:60. Overall, for the very low cost, the food isn't bad here and vegetarians are fairly well catered for. If you're very hungry though, you will probably need to add on a side order or two.

They don't do tabs. You pay at the bar when you order. That is to make sure you don't leave during the wait. That is really long.

Visited on a quiet sunday for a quick bite to eat with my family,although it is set up as a restaurant /bar there are no high chairs which was a bit disappointing.

Cool little bar.. friendly staff. Slightly stressful with freshers in tonight but seemed to handle the situation well considering the circumstance!

From time to time all pubs smell, but this pub has a consistant stench. Like a vomity sewer.

The bar its self is okay nice and spacious and good outside area... okay selection of drinks. That's where the positives end and quickly. The bar was busy and yet only 1 women serving behind the bar. When i say her attitude was awful i mean her attitude was awful.. Never have i had someone so clearly p***ed of with serving customers. From huffing and puffing to slamming glasses around to serving my larger in a ale glass then looking at me like i was the biggest scum on the planet.

First visited this place a few years back whilst I was at reading festival. Loved it at the time and wanted to visit again. Have since visited on 4 separate occasions and every single time the staff have been rude and uninterested. Different bar staff each time which makes me think that’s a problem with the pub rather than individual personnel. The food is good value for money, but often can take around an hour to come, and each time there has been certain parts of our meal missing. Staff really don’t care for the customers which is sad as it could be a great pub. Avoid.

Went here to get quick lunch. After a hour of waiting we gave up and got money back. Place stank and was sick visible on pavement outside from our table - not their fault, but I would have hosed it down if it was my pub! No argument about getting g our money back so guessing they have to do that a lot.

Pavs acaba de conseguir un nuevo menú que incluye mucha comida vegana, que es genial. El pan bao, la hamburguesa de jackfruit y los tater tots eran todos muy buenos. La calificación es puramente para la degustación de comida realmente buena. . . la comida tardó una hora en llegar y los tater tots eran una pequeña porción al principio para 6, que preguntamos y nos enviaron de regreso, para que nos dijeran que la cocina pensaba que eran una porción lateral aunque no estaban disponibles como un lado? Recomendaría veganos para comer aquí, ¡no esperes que nada más sea increíble!

Lo visité por una pinta o dos antes de comer. Tuve que ver al barman tratar de enseñarle a un nuevo miembro del personal cómo sacar una pinta de Meantime. Esto se hizo tan ineptamente que debería haber sido el alumno. Vaso tras vaso de espuma, tanto de hecho, que cuando tomé una pinta estaba caliente. Mencioné esto y me dijeron "así es como es". Tablas sucias y fanáticos del fútbol gritando completaron una visita que no repetiré. Evitar.

went here with my girlfriend for lunch, the barmaid was uninterested/rude and the food was a real disappointment, mine was okay but hers was burnt and tough and expensive for what it was, if you want to eat in reading there million better places

Barmaid was “ uninterested” in serving us however the bar & food were good, the toilets however were awful! Clean,yes, but all toilet seats were broken!!!

This place seems to be packed all the time. No wonder, they serve good food and nice beers. The service is a bit slow, but otherwise okay.

One of the best pubs i have been to, it is lovely and it has all sorts of entertainment and a back yard.very nice food and a big assortiment of beverages.prices are lovely and you have these cards where you gather money on every purchase and you can spend it back there.Amazing pub i highly reccomend it

Awesome bar with cheap drinks deals (especially on Thursdays, £3 craft beers and cocktails - Woo!) and lovely friendly staff. Regular food and gaming competitions!

Pavlovs dog is a first choice in town pubs for me and my friends. Always have a great time and get great customer service from old and new staff! Always somewhere to sit and the smoking area is great. Food is also a must try! There’s board/card/consoles to play on so guaranteed entertainment. 10/10

5 of us visited during a Saturday lunchtime, they were quiet. The seating is weird in that despite being quite big there aren't many proper tables downstairs, mostly barstools which wouldn't be good for kids or older people. 3 of us had cocktails, they have quite an extensive cocktail menu for a standard pub, so we were quite excited for these! But they were awful, they honestly tasted like they had been watered down, and didn't taste of anything, it was genuinely a struggle to drink and only 1 person managed to finish the drink. The place itself is fine, a bit dated and not very clean but I'm sure it's fine for a night out.

I went here to watch the Mayweather vs McGregor fight and it was excellent. The friendly staff dealt with a few inquiries by email. When we arrived, the staff were welcoming, drinks were great, food was great too. The locals were friendly. This is one of the best bars I've ever watched live sport in. Loads of TV's and they manage entry so there's not too many people.

I went to Pavlov Dog with around 20 of my work colleagues a couple of weeks ago. My friend who had had a few drinks fell over at the bar and was understandably was kicked out. Next thing I knew, I was also being kicked...

So last night (Saturday the 9th) me and a few friends headed to pavs for a few drinks. As I was deciding what to drink, I saw someone having a drink from a branded Hop House 13 glass. By the time it got to my turn to be served, I ordered a Hop House 13.

Popped in for lunch whilst in town. The menu seemed to have a decent number of choices. I chose tortilla chips with cheese and chilli.

Went to Pav's with some friends for a couple drinks at the weekend and we ended up spending most the day here. It was a lovely atmosphere with lots of sport being shown to keep us entertained and the big house burger meant i was very full! Very knowledgeable staff, I can't remember the boys name but he was absolutely fantastic with us and made sure we were having the best time possible. He had dark hair and glasses. Would totally go again! 5/5.

A Reading resident for over 10 years I was pleasantly surprised when Pav's had its make over. I remember it in its heyday - £1 a pint student night and the off to Sakura for Rock night..good times! Sadly the new facade of faux US Low and Style restaurants is unable to mask the very poor service I received this week along with the duty glasses and to finish it off they haven't had ice the last 5 times I've been. They have however introduced a row of retro consoles.

We visited as heard the place was good for food and drink. The visit took place mid week and there was two staff. One grumpy lady, who really didn't look like she wanted to be there and a guy that was messing about making some form of cocktail with coffee beans and ginger ale.Each time going to the bar was an ordeal.The wings, ribs and burger were very average. They tasted microwave (pre cooked).

Often start a Saturday night here with a few 2-4-1 cocktails. The bar is small and gets a bit crowded so get there early

Went in for a drink with friends (couples) we commented on how reasonably priced the drinks were. We stayed for 2 drinks and ordered the sharing platter which I must say was absolutely gorgeous, it wasn't greasy at all either. Def worth the money. Great friendly staff present too. Would return most definitely.

Me and few friends came here on a Thursday night, craft and cocktails all £3 there was massive choice in craft beers! 5 on tap and loads in cans and bottles! I choose the can cocktail which was called the bohemian raspberry and it came with sweets! Overall had a really good night! Staff where on top form. I didn't eat but the food looked good! Will definitely be back!

Came here to watch the football and have a snack. The chicken wings are fab. and the the wine and beer were good. Lots of screens to choose from and the seats are comfortable.

Some friends and I dr idea to visit last night after we had been for a meal.It is long established, well known and has a reputation for a good atmosphere, reasonably cheap and next to the market.Inside it is similar to a student pub with live bands, board games, ample seating, tv's showing sport and computer games for people to enjoy.

Ich bin gerne in diesem Pub. Die Bierauswahl ist gut und sie machen hervorragende Burger. Ein muss sind die Süsskartoffel-Pommes. Der Service ist schnell und freundlich.Es gibt auch einen Außenbereich sowie Billiard und Dart.Außerdem gibt es auch kostenloses Internet.

Lots of screens to see the match of your choice, not all showing the same one which is good. Great selection of lagers and beers. Bar service was quick and polite. Customers were a bit rowdy for a Tuesday at 8 o'clock but good atmosphere none the less.

It's a half hour walk from home to here, but I do it because this pub is better than any other. Friendly staff, good drink selection, good menu (including a very good veggie & vegan) and cheap. Good for a pint or two in the afternoon, or for early drinks before moving on the a club or bar. Can't keep me from coming back.

Stopped in here whilst shopping in Reading. Friendly staff and very reasonably priced menu. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Long time waiting, they put the food in a rusty and broken dishes, totally disappointed, I don't know how they didn't loose the license.

Been here a number of times and it's alright. Not the best pub in town, but they do good value for money food trays and serve a decent variety of beer. I saw other comments complaining about staff, but I guess I was lucky because I never had any problems.

Ci siamo fermati in questo pub per vedere una partita di champions bevendo qualcosa e sgranocchiando uno snack. Ci si serve al banco e poi si portano le bibite al tavolo. La sera che siamo stati li, c'era parecchia confusione e una delle ordinazioni è stata fraintesa dal personale (forse il rumore, forse l'accento diverso) e, con evidente malavoglia, hanno cambiato l'ordinazione sbagliata. Il cibo è di pessimo livello. Non merita.

Stopped in for a footy game. Good snack food and beers make for a vibrant atmosphere. FYI we found best value nearby parking at Church St, RG1 2SQ!

They do show a good range of sport! They have a good range of beers - but served too cold! They have an interesting menu - but doesn't live up to the eating! The best I can say it was hot! Such a shame, it could be much better with a bit more attention to the details!

Since the rest decor it's even better. Got a huge range of different beers and good viewings of the TV if your after the sport. This is now our usual meeting point in town before a night out and often end up here as it's open until 2 at the weekends

I've used this venue a few times. They show the sports which is a bonus however the sound is never loud enough to hear the commentary, with the TV's and equipment they have it should be heard. The food is pub grub and good value at a fair standard. The staff are not overfriendly, nor are they rude. They do a job to a standard and when asked a question a direct answer normally follows without any 'chit chat'. Lots of age ranges from students to workmen and people just wanting a beer after work.

My husband ordered a pint of ale which was very cloudy and tasted of vinegar. He returned it to the bar and the manager refused to exchange it or give him a refund. The manager was extremely rude and did not have any customer service skills at all. Would never go back.

This is a student bar so it is what it is .... Cheap food cheap drinks foods just about edible if you're pissed enough

The refurbishment of this place is never going to make up for the extremely rude staff and poor standard of foor.

Not much to say about this pub. It has little atmosphere a limited menu and rather disinterested staff. On the plus side it does have a rather big TV screen if there is a sporting event on that you want to watch.

Waited 40mins to get served waste of time we tried everything from moving to jumping winking it was stressful so in the end we simply gave up

Me and my partner are regular visitors here for food and drink. It is what is. Cheap and cheerful. Food has always been of a satisfactory standard if you are looking for a cheap bite to eat and a couple of drinks. Only downside is keep your belongings close, there are a few scroungers who like to steal in there. One of the smack heads had my mobile last week from my table. Leave nothing unattended at any time. Apart from that thumbs up from me.

Today hubby, toddler and I all ate gorgeous fresh meals (great for veggie options), for a great price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also love the colourful and happy decor.

We went here end of January, on a Saturday. The woman behind the bar didn't know how to make the cocktails and grabbed the menu from my partner's hand when he ordered a pitcher, and had just bad attitude - clearly didn't want to be working there. We ordered a couple of side orders which took over an hour to get to our table and were cold by the time they did.It was a busy Saturday and it was only the woman and who I assume was the manager who flitted in and out from behind the bar, they definitely needed more staff on. Shame because the place and atmosphere was quite lovely and I would have gladly stayed there for a while, but after the bad service and attitude we left quickly after having our cold potato fries - which would have been lovely hot.

Really shocked to see all of the bad reviews. Been here twice for Saturday lunch with a veggie bf, both meals we had both times were good. The veggie selection for him is much better than a lot of places. I had the chicken breast burger, sweet potato fries and coleslaw both times and really enjoyed them. Far better than the usual chains around and a really good price.

Came across this restaurant pub by accident but it was a great find. Good choice of food at very keen prices. Very lively atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good value for money.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast on Saturday (since it was approaching the 11am limit for other places to serve breakfast). The place was almost empty and now we know why..The guess this is more of a evening/night spot where you can get drinks and food, but for breakfast its better to take a detour. we order the traditional breakfast (the lady serving us spoke rudely when my husband wished to change his order to a large breakfast within 2 mins of placing the order). The breakfast came in tin plates (felt like eating in a prison with the white tin plates :() the bacon rashers were inedible and the rest of it was ok, not too great.The menu said toast with Jam, but when asked for jam, the server informed us that they don't stock it! so hey, why put it on the menu..Overall, we had a bit of an unpleasant experience, both staff n food wise and would most likely avoid it if we have any other options. The only good point was that it is in a good spot where you can get some sun sitting in the restaurant , if only the pub put in some efforts to draw the crowd in..

Good music & atmosphere. Great reggae band played. Ate earlier in in the evening but the food was terrible. Recommend the pub but not the food.

Have been there yesterday, we joined some friends of us who were already there. First thing we noticed is that the menu don't show the prices for the beers and only few prices were displayed; we asked the barmaid for the prices of the beers and her response was that they just had different prices said in a very bothered way.I know that after a day of work one could be tired but to be fully informed about goods and services before making a purchase is a consumer's right covered by law.We had to order without knowing the price of the beers we were buying. Also she showed great disrespect for my girlfriend who politely asked her to repeat a sentence she did not understood, she repeated it much slower than needed emphasising every word in a very ill-mannered way.The group we joined was composed by 4 people who already had ordered one main dish for two people, two individual main dishes and two sweets.After a while the same barmaid brought the two sweets to the table saying that these were the first to be ready.Since a sweet is hardly an appetiser we talked to the manager, he wasn't too polite either, he argued that we should have specified the order in which we wanted the dishes. I think that 4 people ordering main dishes for all of them and 2 sweets don't need explanation.The food wasn't good too, I ate an hotdog that was sloppy messy presented and had cold fried onions.I will never go back in this pub, it is nothing special, the food is poor and the service is one of the worst I encountered here in this country.

Dropped in here for a quick lunch and a drink on saturday. Staff didnt know how to make the cocktails on the menu, and were very unfriendly. The food took 40 minutes to an hour to arrive, and when it did it was cold and had been sat for a while. We ate, didn't enjoy it, and left as quickly as possible.

Surprised by the miserable bar maid behind the bar tonight. We weren't ordering near closing time and there were a fair amount of other customers, so there was no need for her stone cold manner towards us. We all work behind a bar having to put on a smile each day, and at the end of a long week, wanting a few drinks with friends, we are greeted by a stroppy, rude, and unwelcoming woman, who quite frankly scared us with her evils. From what we had left of our drinks after she threw them down on the bar, we hid from her, and wrote the reviews as we were in such shock!Sadly, she was the worst barmaid I have ever encountered, and a job involving zero social skills would suit her, much much more.

I went here with friends for a few drinks after dinner, despite the new deocrations its still the same old pavlovs dog. Its nice but to be honest the layout in here has never really worked for me - so not really any better than before.

I visited during a weekday daytime, when there was around 4-5 other customers. The first thing I noticed was that the floor was still sticky from last night (bearing in mind this was around 11 in the morning). The second thing I noticed was that the woman that served me looked sick, sniffling and generally looking Ill (not what you want when you enter an establishment that serves food). I asked her if I could please charge my phone in a socket by my table (many wouldn't even have asked) and she replied with a hesitation before a surly "Yeah". Customer-service with a smile!Later, I was addressed as "Dude" and "Love". Now whilst this venue tries to appeal to a certain 'student type' crowd, there is still a level of professionalism required. I ordered a breakfast and coffee. I was told they don't serve decaffeinated coffee, so I had to settle for caffeinated coffee, which was weak and tasteless. My breakfast was served in what can only be described as a dog bowl on a tray! An attempt at being "edgy" has resulted in a ridiculous and impractical manner of delivering serving their food. The only saving grace was that the food itself was actually quite decent. Plus, at a reasonable price. They refit this place around a year ago, but seemed to have become complacent and just stopped there.

Have eaten here quite a few times now. They do a good Breakfast and compared to others Pavlov's is very reasonable.I've never had a starter here to cannot comment, but have tried all their Vegetarian Menu and every single time it has been tasty. Food prices are extremely reasonable and it's always been packed whenever I've eaten there. Prices for drinks are similar to any other pub in Reading.You order at the bar, you are asked "where are you sitting", given a wooden spoon with a number on it and then food is brought to your table.Service - it depends how rushed off their feet the waitress/barmaid is. Last time I ate here she wasn't at all friendly, but other times they have been quite friendly and chatty. Guess can't keep on smiling all the time! Am having a girlie night fairly soon in Reading and will eat at Pavlov's Dog as it suits all of us - Veggies, meat eaters as well as fish lovers and it's close to bus-stop for us all.

i used to frequent this place back when i was a student, and saw it has had yet another refurb since last time i was in reading, so decided to stop in for some food with a friend. service was quick and friendly, reasonably priced (neither of us were drinking though) and the food arrived quite fast.... but everything was SO greasy there were pools of dark brown oil in the bottom of our dishes which was really offputting. the food was okay, but not on par with the new look

Not going to set the world alight but they sell some very nice real ales and craft beers and have a cheapish uncomplicated menu. Had the Pavlov Burger with fries and Colesalw which was good value , even though the burger was a bit overdone. Definitely worth a visit

Definitely recommend coming here- Good food, good drink, good atmosphere. Been here several times and always enjoyed it, and the prices are decent too!

This place has been given a lick of paint and now they charge about £5 for a beer. Service still as slow as ever. Won't bother going back any time soon.

We were in the area and wanted a quick cheap lunch. The service was good and the prices more than reasonable. The food was better than we expected for the price. If you are not looking to spend and just want a something to eat it is worth considering.

Had to try it but regret I did. Worst bar for ages beer poorly kept and poured. Staff lack enthusiasm, and service with a growl. Would not recommend.

Food's been fine each time I've been, average 20~ min wait. Treated myseld to "The Dirty Burger" for my birthday, fantastic. Shows sports too which is a plus. No issues with the place, staff seem fine, was a fan of the old decor but the new makeover looks great too!

I hope they give it a makeover. It looks from the outside that it will have character, but when you go in, the character is just a tired middle-aged guy trying to hang out with students - sorry!

This maybe a student focused venue, but you still should cater for those that are local, and just want to have a quick lunch, after waiting 30 mins for cold food, no ice in my drink or offered, and the tables filthy, will never be back again!

My wife just loves the scream burger which has been nice for her. I had a lasagne which tasted like crap cold and bland. But my wife loves her burgers here and that's all I care about

The clientele are somewhere between pikeys and chavs. They do craft beer but then everywhere in reading does. Used to cater for students which I'd choose over the scumbags that have set up camp here now. Took ages to get served too... Sorry Pavlov but the beer garden smells of puke.

Popped in after an interview I had on a Thursday afternoon, was meeting my boyfriend there and was first in. I ordered a coke only as was waiting for my boyfriend before I was going to order some food. I ordered the coke, there were two bar tenders behind the bar and it appeared as thought I had interrupted their conversation. However, my request didn't seem to phase them as they continued to talk and ignore my request!!! The place was completely empty as it was about 4.30 in a Thursday - but yet I was still kept waiting while they discussed something. At one point another bar girl came over and checked if I was being served to which I replied 'yes just very slowly'. This annoyed me so much that i left and didn't get food that day. On another occasion I was having food with work mates after work - we ordered the platter between us. It was nothing special at all. Garlic bread reminded me if something from tesco - really not impressed with the food at all.

I never had such a bad experience in the pub! Absolutely terrible service and attitude.It was a nice day and footbal was just about to start so i came in, i came to the bar and asked for a pint of stella and at the same moment when the bartender was just about to start pouring i said : excuse me i actually rather have magners ( as it was a nice hot day ) then he showed me that he started to pour, then i politely appologised and asked for magners, then he started to pour magners and was saying something that i should have said it straight away what i want, and now he wasted a bit of the beer, i was shocked of his attitude, and asked whether it was a really big problem for the pub, then i told him that his customer service need some improvement, then he asked me a question: do i wanna a leave,,,, and that was it, i just turned around and left immidiatelly as i was absolutely shocked,,,,i didnt really want to speak to anyone in charge but this is shocking, it was my second visit to pavloves dog, first one was not great either, with a could food and dirty glass, well for sure no more visits there, not recommended at all!

Great refurbishment. The food is good. I had the chilli - amongst the best locally. Good choice of craft beers, try the Dead Pony. The one negative is the coffee - not so good.

This place has been refurbished and looks so much better than it did. I never liked it in here before the recent changes, but I really like it now. The menu has lots of choices and the prices are very reasonable. We particularly liked the £11.95 sharing platter (the potato wedges served on this were superb). The staff were friendly. There are lots of TV screens if you want to watch football etc. This is somewhere we will keep returning to as we think it is clean and comfortable and excellent value for money.

I can't begin to say how bad this place is! Absolutely no atmosphere, staff all look miserable & definitely don't know a thing about customer service. Simple things such as dirty glass ware, filthy sauce pots & no check back on our food when there was barely anyone inside. As for the refurb It is far too try hard, I can see why students might like it at first but with the prices they charge I can't see it being more than a flash in the pan pub. Food merely filled a hole, nothing special & again was trying too hard to be 'cool'. If this place is ever busy I will be shocked. What a complete waste of money

Popped in with girlfriends yesterday after reading about the refurbishment. Great transformation and friendly service. Prosecco £11 a bottle a bargain and a nice bottle at that. Had a great table in the 'alcove' we stayed all afternoon and ate too. Food was very reasonable and tasty too.
