By far the best food in Montrose! Fresh, local and presented beautifully! This is our first choice for breakfast or lunch.

We had a lovely lunch at Pavilion Cafe yesterday. As always the service is amazing and Rosie and her staff have got it just right. I had a mushroom omelette and it was honestly the best I have ever tasted! Full of spinach and tomatoes and bursting with flavour. Absolutely delicious. You are also guaranteed of a great coffee here which isn’t always easy to find. Definitely the No 1 choice in Montrose for lunch ❤️

I've lived in Scotland for 15 years and eaten a good few full breakfasts in that time and the one I had at Pavilion Cafe today is probably the best I've ever eaten. I realise statements like this can seem like hyperbole, but this one isn't! Every single item was cooked to perfection, clearly locally produced, crisp, hot, and full of flavour. Seriously impressed. They must hang on to their chef! You wouldn't get a breakfast nearly this good in many 'high end' places. Friendly, professional staff too with a good sense of humour. Will be visiting Montrose again just for this place!

This place is faultless, it never fails to impress me. I'm very stuck in my ways with what I eat, but I've often wanted to try eggs Benedict, and as Rosie cooks everything fresh I knew here was the place to try it. Within minutes of our order being taken I heard the sauce being whisked in the kitchen, no fears of a packet ever being used here. When our food arrived it looked as good as it tasted. Everything was the best quality, the ham was so delicious, the eggs were just perfect, the muffin just the right thickness, but oh my goodness that hollandaise sauce. I could easily become addicted to that, rich, creamy, smooth, so delicious it was an absolute triumph. As always the cafe itself was cosy and the staff welcoming, and it's always spotlessly clean. If you're planning to go book a table as it gets very busy and they often have to turn people away.

This is a cute little cafe in Montrose with excellent staff and serving very good lunches and cakes. Not at all expensive and well worth visiting.

Excellent! Went today with my mum and niece, and wow this was the best breakfast i can say Ive ever had. The quality was excellent, portion massive and service was outstanding, the Ladies were lovely. Would love to go back again when im back up visiting. Cant renommend this wee place enough !

Thanks to a Google search for places to eat enroute to Stonehaven we came across the charming place for lunch in Montrose. Its a former bowling green pavillion which still has some of its original features. The food is exceptional to the point that I had to know how to make their quesadilla at home and the owner was glad to share ! Its a small cosy place so booking would be essential on the weekends but I can't recommend it high enough and hopefully will make it back again soon.

Brilliant lunch stop on our way down coastal route. Delicious homemade soup, hummus, olives, crusty bread and pittas. Great service, passionate owner and the cutest venue.

Real gem - glad we found it. It is in a nice, quiet spot. The food was notably good with my husband raving about it. We sat outside but had great, friendly service. It gives the impression of having nailed their menu and we will be back.

I installed Trip advisor just to review this place. Best breakfast I ever had! From the perfectly toasted sourdough to the delicious meat, all was made with care.

Having read the reviews we popped in for breakfast prior to our coastal walk to St Cyrus. We hadnt booked (strongly recommended) The breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked to order and portions were amazing. I had the full breakfast and my wife had the eggs benedict, amazing stuff

Visited for lunch on 14th June 2023. What a wonderful experience; great service and truly delightful food. Freshly cooked / made up to order. Booking essential as the cafe is very popular and there are only a modest number of tables . Incredible value for money and thoroughly reccomended.

Phoned up to book a table as I’ve heard how busy this place is. My friend and I had our little ones in their prams and got fitted in no bother. Lovely atmosphere and the place is immaculate. We were served straight away and our food came out in no time. Food was lovely and fresh and generous sized portions, worth every penny. Will definitely be back!

Met family in Montrose and visited The Pavilion for lunch. We were welcomed and placed our order with recommendations from a very helpful member of staff. Our food was excellent and we all enjoyed our choices. All the team were very attentive. We would highly recommend this delightful eating place and will definitely visit again.

The most beautiful building (lovingly restored by the owner from a derelict shell) and setting for a spot of lunch. The food is always spectacular and changes often, with Rosie’s flair for creating amazing dishes with a focus on local produce.

Lovely lunch today at Pavilion cafe. Pastry on the quiche was melt in the mouth wonderful & the taste was amazing, came with a plentiful fresh salad and the most delicious homemade chips, best I have tasted in a long time. Had Rosies picnic baskets yesterday with friends. All the food was absolutely 1st class. Lots of food on offer and we certainly didnt go hungry. The sausage rolls and scones were favourites😋 Will definitely be having again and can highly recommend.

We were going to have some lunch here after reading the reviews however when we arrived...we were met with quite a mixed welcome. The first lady said we could sit on the terrace as we had our dog (very well behaved) with us. I went inside to have a look at the cakes whilst my husband and our dog went to sit down. As my husband went to sit down, he was approached by another member of staff who was extremely rude to him. Very abrupt, stern and ordered him to sit down and put a face mask on (even though other guests were not wearing one and there was no one around him) the seating was also outside. He was made to feel very unwelcome and whereas there are safety measures in place, other guests and staff members were not waring face masks who were sitting and working in the same area (under the terrace). We decided not to stay and went elsewhere. Shame really as the food did look very good, but we were clearly not welcome. I have seen how the owner / manager responds to this kind of feedback and I can assure you that the staff member was very rude and actually caused us to leave.

First visit to Montrose, so Googled, this place came up so tried it out, definitely worth a visit, top marks all round, maybe advisable to book. Delicious daily specials and menu, and cakes. Loved it and would certainly return!
