We have friends who live in Kirriemuir and we visit them every year. A must do every time is a visit to see Wee Bear, and to have breakfast . The place and it’s surroundings are beautiful, as is the food. My personal favourite is the Blueberry scone, with bacon and cream cheese, with maple syrup. Absolutely delicious. We always find the staff very friendly, and all in all this is so much more than just a breakfast stop, it’s a destination stop too. Dogs are more than welcome too

Lovely evening at one of their pop up events, but my goodness it was expensive!! £25 for a burger, 2 onion rings, 2 slices of halloumi and half a small bowl of chips. Crazy prices. Food was ok but you’d expect to pay that at a very high end restaurant in a city, not a wee cafe in the country.

We have friends who live nearby, and when we go ti visit them, a trip to Wee Bears Cafe is no 1 on the agenda. The location is perfect, so peaceful and beautiful . The food is delicious and different. My personal favourite is Bacon Scruffin mmmmm!! and then of course there’s wee bear himself. Such a gorgeous friendly dog, who has now been joined by the beautiful Winnie. Best just happens to be the double of our dog Tess, who sadly went over the rainbow bridge a few years ago. There simply isn’t anything not to like here. The humans too are lovely people and always up for a bit chat! Even the customers are friendly, I think we exchanged greetings with everyone there, and even got to sit in a customers classic Volvo ! It simply doesn’t get any better.

Beautiful spot and cakes looked amazing but we didn't try any as when we had to wait for over an hour for a cup of soup, a bagel and a sandwich, without any staff coming to explain the reason for the delay and no discount offered, it really soured the experience so any cake tasting took a back seat.Unfortunately this wasn't just our experience as 3 other couples had the same issues as us.We were told the reason for the hour wait was that a brie bagel takes a lot longer to prepare.I find it hard to believe that any brie bagel would take one hour to make!Very disappointed in their lack of candour or accountability and sadly as a local to the area, I won't be returning!

My good lady and I called at the cafe for lunch. It was not overly busy, and the sun was shining. I ensured my disabled wife was safe in an outdoor seat and went to the kiosk to get some menu's. I asked the person behind the desk what the soup of the day was and was told it was mushroom and wild garlic. I returned to my wife and we selected our lunch. I returned to the kiosk and advised what we wanted only to be told that I had to return to my seat and our order would be taken. We then sat for 25 minutes whilst the girl at the kiosk stood doing little or nothing often looking in our direction. An older woman ( perhaps the owner) seemed to be delivering instructions to the girl at the kiosk and again frequently stared in our direction. Another couple came in and sat at the table opposite us, and the girl brought them some menu's. She then came over to us and asked if we were wanting anything. I explained she had already refused our order at the kiosk and told me to take a seat. She then said that Ann (The owner?) had instructed her to tell us that I had to place my order at the kiosk. I have no idea what the internal problems were but when I go out for lunch I expect some form of service. As a disabled person myself using a walking stick I don't expect to be shuffled from pillar to post to simply order my lunch. I don't expect to sit so long without being served when staff are standing around doing very little. I always try to be very fair to hospitality venues when reviewing the service on offer but I remain confused as to why we had to suffer such glaringly shocking customer service?

This little cafe has potential, being a good stopping place for a walk by the loch and there was a tempting choice of cakes as we entered. However, on a cold day we were disappointed that there was only one kind of soup which turned out to be very salty. Ok, it wasn't much money, but this could have had serious consequences for my friend.

We had gone on a walk and decided to try the Wee Bear Cafe for lunch. Lucky for us! Since it was a warm summer day we got to sit outside. The small well thought out menu had some great choices but we both decided on the Sir Douglas Sandwich. This is a really yummy sandwich on a fresh roll. The roll was chewy on the outside, soft on the inside. Fabulous sausage and a touch of mustard (we chose the Dijon). The sandwich comes with a little salad that had lettuce leaves, flowers, tomato and thin slices of onion. Sandwich so good! We met Wee Bear, the ever so cute dog we welcomes attention. I saw gorgeous slices of cake inside and hope to try some soon. Dining inside looked inviting too. Friendly service, great food.

Each of us had a different cake and they were among the best we have ever eaten. This was our first visit to this cafe and we will certainly be back.

Located by the loch in an old grist mill building, this is a cosy café. Plenty of reading material and the coffee and cakes are the best. The owner Gareth has all the local knowledge and is keen to assist. Thoroughly recommended!!

Finally made it to this lovely wee cafe today. Just had a coffee (tasty) and a bit of cake but I'm told by Sharon that the coffee and walnut cake was the best she has ever had......high praise indeed.

We were spending our day in the Angus Glens. I had passed The Wee Bear a couple of times before, but had no need to visit. What a neat place, with the café set in an old horse mill, really comfortable and welcoming. There's a limited lunch menu, but as far as possible all home made - soups, focaccia bread for the 'sandwiches', extensive menu of cakes, including GF and DF. Our soup and sandwich combo, served with tortilla chips and small side salad, kept us going well into the evening! Limited opening hours, 10.00 - 16.00, Friday to Tuesday. Closer in to a town, this would be full all day long. There are also six B&B; rooms attached to the café.

No matter where you are. No matter the season. No matter the place. There’s always chickens. There’s always eggs. Dippy. Scrambled. Fried. Poached. Eggs. So simple. Uncomplicated. Magical. So easy to mess-up, eff-up. The joy of eggs done right. It’s a nod. It’s a smile that doesn’t fade. Doesn’t go away. Chef Rosie. Thanks for making me smile.

Great little pub, everyone welcome, felt like a home from home, (not that we stay in a pub)! Will definitely be back any time we are in Forfar.
