Pavement in Glasgow City

Sadly Pavement has now closed, thank you for the lovely nights we had in here and happy retirement. Pavement is reopening as a mexican pub/ restaurant, so I'll update when I've been in.

Ho mangiato bene, le mie uova alla Benedict erano buone e belle. Non tutto era perfetto nel servizio. Qualche ritardo, i piatti non sono arrivati tutti insieme come dovrebbe essere e c'è stato un problema con il menù bimbi che oltre al ritardo non era per bimbi ed infatti l' ho pagato come piatto normale.

Really nice atmosphere and let alone the food. Highly recommend 👌. I will be going to this place each time I'm back in Glasgow ......

Went for Xmas meal with great friends on a Saturday evening. Food was superb and a great atmosphere. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this lovely bar/diner.

There were 2 of us and we each had 2 courses for lunch. The food was excellent and portions were very generous. I had Gambia’s Pil Pil to start. Very nice indeed and not too spicy. Then for my main I had the beef from the specials board. It was melt in the mouth and lots of veg , which included a surprise red cabbage which was hiding on my plate. I really would love the recipe for that one it was so tasty! I felt the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent , as well as very friendly. The only negative comment I can make is that we were not warm enough. It was fine to start with, but definitely cooled down . I am still giving this 5, as everything else made up for that. Would definitely return and recommend.

Popped in for a drink with my wife only negative said it was cash only which was not a problem but could not change a £50 note in which my wife had to go out to a cashline when we already had money on us

Was in Glasgow for a few days and decided to meet up with a friend for a pint or two and then find somewhere for lunch. We met at Pavement in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. I would call Pavement quaint on first blush. There is a small bar (maybe 8 chairs?) and about the same number of booths and tables. The bar staff was friendly and attentive. But when we looked at the menu on the chalkboard on the wall, quickly realized that this is not what I would consider "bar food" (or do they call it "pub grub"?). Of course, they had the usual suspects of burgers and fish n'chips but when you see the lamb shank and beef cheek, you realize this place is solid! We had the haggis bon bons; beef cheek w/carrots, onions, and mashed potato; black pudding w/goat cheese; and chicken pakora... all of which was more delicious than the next (although the beef cheek was OUTSTANDING!). And if all that wasn't enough, here comes the chocolate fondu cake that was fabulous with a dram or three of whisky! If you're passing through, you will be glad you stopped here. If you work in the area, I don't understand how this wouldn't be your regular stop for lunch, happy hour, and dinner meetings. Can't wait to go back.

A fantastic wee bar and restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. The menu is consice and very tasty, with options like Scotch broth, braised beef cheeks, fish and chips, burgers. I think there were a couple of vegan options too. The beer and spirit options were impressive for a small business, with the draught especially varied from wheat beers, ipa, lager, blonde. It has seats outside as well for watching the bustle of the town. Will be a new favourite to go to.

Went on Halloween last minute with a family of 5 and small dog. Service was absolutely first class. So attentive and catered for my fussy teenagers tweaking what is already a top menu!

It’s a great place to have lunch and the food menu also is a good selection of local food. The service is great and the bartenders engage you in good company.

Outside bar/restaurant for tasty food at great prices. The special on the Saturday 21st was fillet tail, with a mushroom and cream sauce and beef cheek and potato cake which was a massive tasty potato croquette at £14 was a steal. The wife had the salmon and lentil Dahl which got the thumbs up as did the chocolate brownie dessert. The staff working when we visited (young girl and guy) were both very friendly and helpful and cheerful which always makes a visit to a restaurant that much more enjoyable. Don’t let the little dated appearance of pavement put you off as this is defo a wee hidden gem in the merchant city area of Glasgow.

Fortune to have this so local to me. Food is always outstanding, better than many restaurants in the area. Regular rotating specials and friendly staff. Personally I'd say more of a bar/bistro style, don't go expecting live music etc. However, if you want relaxed dining and/or a few drinks this is the place 👍

My wife and I found this great little place by chance on a night out in Glasgow. Fantadtic food and enough variety to please everyone. The menu changes regularly, attentive staff, a good selection of beers and a chilled atmosphere. Whats not to like.

Local atmosphere, lovely but unpretentious, with great staff and most of all a really good menu that will make you come back.

Popped in for a quick beer and the service was good. Good choice of beers and friendly barman. Sat outside as it was a nice day. Food looked good and overall a pleasant atmosphere. Would visit again

Just arrived to Glasgow and seeking a mid afternoon lunch place with vegetarian options for our group. Excellent restaurant, in a quieter location with lovely outdoor patio. We were served hot (temp), expertly prepared foods. Delicious beers on tap. Simple red and white wine options. Friendly staff. Modern clean interior. Overall we were so happy with our lunch, sharing battered fried fish and chips, veg pakoras and chicken pakoras. Delicious meal and highly recommend this restaurant.

A great little dog friendly bar / eating place . Fab food . The burgers were amazing. Tacos on the specials board were fab. The staff very helpful and attentive . We were a group of 8 and the service was excellent.

Chose this restaurant/pub based on reviews on here. Absolutely delicious food. Small menu executed really well. We had the macaroni burger with skin on chips - really lovely. Smoked haddock, potato cake and lemon/lemon sauce - delicious. Excellent service throughout.

Such a crackin' wee bar! All the staff are super friendly, efficient & attentive. There's a great outside seating area or comfy booths inside if it's too cold to sit out. The food is top notch & very reasonably priced. The macaroni cheese was out of this world! It was served up, bubbling hot with a side of 'proper' hand cut chips and delicious homemade coleslaw

Great wee bar. Delicious food and value for money. The muscles were magic. The Hutchie lager is very pleasant and easily absorbed. The staff are attentive and down-to-earth.

Great wee hidden gem in the Merchant City. Had a fabulous dinner here tonight. Superior pub grub, there's the menu and a specials board both with starters and main courses. Food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back

Lost our Pavement virginity. Saturday 17th June 2003. Had a fantastic experience. Lovely staff, so relaxing. What a great pub/restaurant! Food and banter was AMAZING 👏 nothing a bother for the staff always responsive to customers. Great menu and specials board. We both thought its an oasis in mediocre pub/restaurant environments in Glasgow. 100% our new destination for us and our friends when we are in Glasgow City Centre. So far removed from the norm. Quality. And my wife's favourite saying..." buy cheap..but twice" Pavement was worth EVERY penny! They do exactly what it says on the tin!

Myself and my husband went for first time yesterday. Had chicken pakora to share them pavement burger and peri peri burger. The food was absolutely beautiful! So so good! Reasonably priced for town as well. Could have chosen a few things off the menu as they sounded great but we went with the burgers. Owner is a lovely guy, great banter and out speaking to everyone. Lovely atmosphere in place. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely be back. A must try

You couldn’t write this up. Asked for crispy potatoes with sauce and some bread and butter. I’ve received old bread, so I went to the bar and just said. The old man start shouting and almost swearing at me said they bake it fresh every day. But the bread was old. I walked away. Start eating my potatoes with sauce and I found long hair it it. Disgusting. Never visit it again.

There is a fairly limited menu, but everything we had (chicken shawarma, veggie burger) was delicious and came quickly. Staff was lovely. The restaurant is small and intimate, the folks are friendly, and it is blessedly quiet.

First visit back to this lovely wee place since Covid. Great welcome back from Gerry, the owner. So pleased that it has not succumbed to recent troubled times. Looking forward to coming back in the not too distant future.

Last minute change of eatery, Pavement was less than 5 mins walk from my accommodation & looked to suit. I wasn't disappointed, small bar, excellent service and quality delicious food.

We went here for a quiet birthday lunch with my partner. Service was great, friendly and chatty and professional. The food and drinks were also lovely. We tried the mussels, patatas bravas, chicken shwarma, and one of the specials. It was all fantastic. We finished off our meal with a coffee and a cocktail sitting outside, all round great experience.

Fabulous restaurant, highly recommend. Friendly welcoming and an amazing specials board too. Had a fantastic meal - pan fried salmon and bean Ragu, could eat it every day!

Atmosphere was wonderful and the food was amazing (although my chicken burger did fall apart towards the end). If I wasn't in Glasgow on holiday I could definitely see myself going here more frequently.

Such a warm welcoming and friendly place! I had the pan fried salmon off the specials menu and it was superb, highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again on my next Glasgow trip!

First time here on Saturday with friends. Cosy friendly,great service,attentive without being intrusive. Lovely food and great drinks. I'd advise booking as it's a little place. Great find will definitely be back. We were a group of three but larger groups were accommodated and to no detriment of service to the large groups themselves or other guests . We ended up staying for more drinks after our meal, even though the table was needed we were simply moved to a booth , nothing was any trouble. Top marks!

Visited this small bar mid afternoon for food and drink prior to going to gig in Barrowlands. Food was very good and wine reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. Bar was busy but not overcrowded. Really good atmosphere and I would have no hesitation in returning

Great wee pub with delicious food

I visited Pavement bar for the first time in early December. I went during the day with a female relative. We were welcomed by a tall Asian waiter named Ethan. He was extremely friendly, warm and welcoming. We had some drinks, and ordered some food...

Great staff, very expensive but

Food was amazing — the mac & cheese was delicious, as was the Malteaser’s cheesecake from the specials menu. I ate it slowly just to savour every bite, it was incredible! My partner also enjoyed his lamb broth and mussels, said they were lovely too. Bar is dog friendly and the staff were extremely welcoming, will definitely visit here again!

Friendly staff good food good atmosphere

Lovely friendly wee place in a brilliant location. Unpretentious, good food, great wine, reasonable prices. Didn't feel rushed at all. Loved the wee booths, great place for a casual catch up with friends. Will definitely be back!

Honestly, we were looking for a place that included haggis on its menu. How can you go to Scotland and not have this?! In The Merchant Sector, there are plenty of American eateries, Italian, dessert hubs and fancy (read expensive) restaurants. Pavement is more of...

The staff here are SUPER friendly and the prices are not too, too high given the very touristy location. There were some obvious regulars, indicating to me that this is a bit of an establishment in the area. It seems the food menu changes regularly and I was not so lucky in terms of selection, but what I did have was…fine.

Great little ‘hole in the wall’ pub. As it is around the corner from where I am staying I’ve popped in a few times. Seems like a good local haunt, friendly team who are happy to chat.

Been here a few times. Every time the service is nice and the food is outstanding. Today I had shepherds pie, topped with a cheesy mash. Beautiful. My wife had the Avocado salad, again gorgeous. Great place in the merchant city.

Almuerzo al pasar sorprendente. El mozo con una buena onda, atento y simpático que te sacaba una sonrisa cada vez que venía. Precios lógicos. Unos bocaditos de polenta con salsa y tostadas con mix de hongos realmente muy buenos. Me encanta descubrir estos lugares tan locales y únicos.

Food was excellent,4 of us had starters and main courses,1 whisky,2 beers,2 bottles of New Zealand wine,only£100,superb,I would highly recommend it.

Excellent vibe, really relaxed atmosphere. Decided to go tapas style and order from the starter menu. OMG- unbelievable flavour. If you want great food, in an relaxed place, this is it.

Excellent location with a great outside area. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere but the best bit is the food! Visited yesterday and had king prawns to start and the special rack of ribs for a main, both were delicious. Would recommend 100%

I lovely friendly cafe. Great tapas style food and nothing small plate about it. This Southerner was very impressed with the quality and variety.

Nice and relaxing restaurant and bar

I have not ordered food for a long time and decided to try Guinness steak pie and very cheesy mac and cheese. Wow! So much steak chunks stuffed under pastry. Yummy! £21 for two awesome meals.

Lovely small restaurant. Most tables had Reserved signs (Thursday evening) , so I expect reservations are usually warranted.
