Wouldn't even give this lying shyster one star. Wedding food booked and paid for in 2016. Turned up with nothing, heard telling someone on the phone that he was at a last minute booking. His 'staff' bought food from local co-op. Hope he's bankrupt so he can't do it other people - I see from the reviews we weren't the only ones shafted by him

Paul’s Kitchen have attentive and friendly staff. There is indoor and outdoor seating for those sunnier days. The menu has a good amount of choice in food and drink. The veggie breakfast I chose was delicious. Make sure if you go here based on the Groupon offer, that you call ahead to let them know. It looks like they have an alcohol licence also, serving Gin and Prosecco, which is cool for a small business like this. Would return again!!

Looks lovely from the outside, the lady serving was also really lovely.Unfortunately the inside smells quite greasey, and didn’t really match the look from the outside, the food was okay however the eggs benedict wasn’t great, I’m unsure what sauce was on the eggs but it definitely wasn’t a traditional hollandaise sauce, it was very pale and had bits in it.I’d order the sandwiches again but definitely not the eggs benedict

What an absloutle disappointment. Ive had 2 bad experiences and thought 3rd time lucky, infact it was worse the 3rd time to the first. What is promised on groupon is not what they offer in the restaurant. The chicken came out cold as if its been in the fridge. The mushroom starter was as if it came out a microwave. I messaged the owner the following day in hopes something could have been done. Instead i was ignored. Sont waste your time dont go.

Its a shame i have to leave a bad review but after having 3 bad experiences i went back to try again. No wonder a lot of my friends warned me of the place. I purchased a groupon offer , all halloumi dishes were out of stock ,a chicken dish i had to pay extra for of £6 and my husband had to pay an additional charge of £2 for his sauce. My chicken came out frozen so whilst my husband had his steak i had to wait for my chicken to get warmed. Would i recomend this place absloutley not, will i give them a 4th chance no way ! Good luck to this place

Visited with two friends for lunch. I'm usually quite an easy going person but am picky about hygiene. . First impression was that menus were old and grubby. Next thing that the two tables pushed together had food between them. Next thing was that milk for tea was in a little bottle that was dirty inside and had only been rinsed out rather than washed. Had mushrooms on toast (being a non meat eater) . Felt I needed a little salt but the grinder was empty. Then found that I was chewing on a piece of caramelised steak. The mushrooms had obviously been cooked in the same pan as steak. I was thinking of bringing my daughter here but I feel that they are lazy and need to have more pride in their place, which could be lovely.

Unfortunately, I have had similar dealings with Paul’s Kitchen like many other unsatisfied customers on here. They are uncontactable through phone and hardly ever open. I tried to book in for afternoon teas throughout ALL of August to redeem my gift voucher. Finally, booked in for 15/10/19 @ 1 and they were still not open, despite the reservation. Clearly, they don’t care about their customers!! My aim is to get them taken off of group on so they can’t con anymore people. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Went on Saturday evening on the basis of photos online and the promise of “award winning chef”. Had the chicken skewer which was 3 bits of chicken with a bowl of rice and lots of salad, shared a meat platter which looked like it had come from Asda. Service was good but higher expectations on the food which were ultimately not met.

Not worth a visit. Went for afternoon tea today and were very disappointed. Don't be misled by the photos on the website, it's certainly not what you get. Wish we'd read the reviews before booking. Cutlery was dirty, cups were chipped, teapot was badly cracked and the milk bottle was filthy. The food was served in small wooden crates lined with kitchen roll. Sandwich fillings were terrible. Cakes were all shop bought, (Mr Kipling bakewell tarts were the last thing I was expecting!) and the strawberries that were used to garnish were well past their best. We were done in less than 20 minutes. Very poor.

Having read some mixed but generally positive reviews we decided to take my partner for afternoon tea. The drinks were very good but the food was much less impressive. Tasteless sandwiches and shop bought cakes did not warrant the cost. The tea, also pretty tasteless, was served in chipped, heavy mugs that had seen better days. The toilet, just off the kitchen, was filty and seeing the chef outside smoking didn't impress either. I felt the service was provided by someone with something better to do and the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming. I, unfortunately, wished we had booked somewhere else for a Birthday treat.

I saw Paul's Kitchen on Facebook the photos looked amazing, I purchased a Groupon for afternoon tea for four with the hope of taking my mum for a special birthday treat. These hopes were quickly dashed when we arrived at Paul's Kitchen. The decoration downstairs is lovely but it was not clean. The bathroom is off the kitchen which is accessed by a dirty staircase. When walking though the kitchen you can not help but notice how very untidy it is. The bathroom door was hard to close and lock. The bathroom was FILTHY! There is absolutely no way it had been cleaned recently! To have your premises clean and tidy is a basic requirement, the state of the place is not on!When the afternoon tea arrived to say we were disappointed is a complete understatement. The sandwiches consisted of cheap white bread with next to no filling. What was there was extremely poor quality and cheap ingredients (possibly the thinnest ham and most tasteless cheese I have ever had the misfortune of trying). The cakes were obviously shop brought, the most noticeable of which was a cheap chocolate Swiss roll. Whilst shopping later that day I found "your" frangipane tarts for sale in a local shop for the grand total of £1.00.The tea was served in one pot between four which was cracked and stained around the spout. The scones, jam, cream, and alcoholic drinks were fine.To add insult to injury we were charged £20.00 for having afternoon tea at the weekend, taking our grand total to £65.00. This means you only save £5.00 on the Groupon deal. All in all we felt completely ripped off by Paul's Kitchen, to be charged so much money for such poor quality food in a dirty restaurant is completely ludicrous! This was quite possibly the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. If you had a fiver and a local shop you could probably do a better job than Paul's Kitchen. Disgusted.

I purchased the afternoon tea with Prosecco as a gift for my mothers birthday from Groupon for £45. The furniture is tightly packed and the place is generally quite dirty. We were particularly disappointed to have dry sandwiches with limited and basic fillings, shop bought cake and poor quality tea. The toilet was very dirty as was the kitchen next to it. To add insult to injury, there seems to be a £5 surplus charge for having an afternoon tea on the weekend. The total cost was £65 which means we had only saved £5 by booking through Groupon. The cost was utterly ridiculous for what we received. Sorely disappointed. Having sifted through a few more reviews it seems that others have already mentioned these issues but little has been done to rectify them.

Went here with my Mum and Dad for lunch. We had a mezze platter to share which we as perfect for the 4 of us. Mum said her chicken salad was delicious and was a very good portion. My husband had sausauge and mash, again a very good portion which he said was extremely tasty. I had Macaroni cheese and a side salad which again was vwey tasty and a really good portion, so much so I took some home with me. Dad had the fish platter but as there were no muscles he was offered salmon instead which wasn't a problem. Of all the he dishes this was the most expensive and whilst no cely presented didn't seem as substantial as the other meals we had. The prawns were trally more the size of shrimps and he said the fish was a little dry. That said, never one to waste food, being of good old yorkshire stock, he ate the lot. The restaurant is small but has a lot of vely atmosphere, our sea ver was pleasant and attentive and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The cherry on the cake was getting 50% off our mains as we had a taste card. I would definitely recommend Paul's even without a taste card.

My first visit to Paul’s kitchen after being recommended by a friend unfortunately I came away feeling disappointed and so much so feel the need to write a review (never do that) places our order for drinks of which my son spotted the Oreo milkshake so was really excited I let him order that, it came and looked delicious but unbeknown to him it wasn’t until he got by the layer of cream it was mint Oreo milkshake, my son hates mint flavour, so he had to leave it, I mentioned to the nice girl but she says that’s how it is, I re-read the menu and a couple of lines below there was a mint choc chip milkshake but nowhere did it say mint Oreo available ! I do think this was very misleading, so I had to order another drink to replace the 1 he couldn’t drink ! We then waited 35 mins for the food, of which I ordered a breakfast of which the bacon had been over cooked and nearly broke my tooth trying to eat it, my friends creamy mushrooms on toast was only like warm (not hot) the only good from the experience was the pancakes and the latte was beaut ! Maybe I’ll just go back coffee 😀

I have wanted to try this cafe/bistro for a long time after hearing great things about the food. Well a mixed review from me. Lovely and cosy place. We were given the menus and had decided what we wanted within minutes but our server took quite a while to take our orders as he was preoccupied with preparing drinks for the Spanish themed evening. Anyway we chose the vegetable platter with the bread basket and really enjoyed the starter. However for the main course I chose macaroni cheese, hmm a tad disappointed, very creamy without a great deal of cheese in the 'Mac n cheese', side salad with hard avocado, a few rocket leaves but couldn't locate the pine nuts as stated in the menu. My husband had the tapas and he was underwhelmed with the lack of flavour. We were fairly disappointed and found the mains to be overpriced considering the lack of flavour. Will not be returning, service slow and food very mediocre apart from the starter.

First visit to Paul’s Kitchen and was disappointed. It got off to a bad start when my friend was virtually barked at for daring to have a buggy with her. Chose chicken parfait with onion marmalade, we’ve run out of onion marmalade, okay I’ll have it without. They must have run out of the advertised rocket and pine nut salad too because I got undressed mixed leaves from a supermarket bag. The parfait itself was a laughably tiny portion, barely 2 tbsp. My friend had duck pancakes. Her cucumber batons were semi-frozen and halfway through she spat out a bone from her meat. We would have complained, but the waitress was scary. The chips were nice (and thank goodness we had ordered them) and we weren’t rushed out at the end, but I see no reason to go back.

She received two barely toasted slices of white bread (halved) and half an unseasoned avocado, sliced and littered around her plate. She had to pay £7.50 for that absolute disaster of a breakfast, and when she asked for more avocado she was told it would be chargeable. At somewhere like Kai you are charged the same for more avocado than you can possibly eat, well seasoned and well presented. Not sure why the portions were so stingy.Another friend's Eggs Florentine was tasteless and exceedingly average. Also, the toilet is in the Kitchen?????? Great layout.Go here to eat if you want to get absolutely taken advantage of.

We went for afternoon gin tea, using a voucher received as a gift. The gin was the best bit! The sandwiches were on fairly thick white bread (no choice) served, with the cakes, on a wooden platter. The cakes seemed as though they had not been thawed out properly and the scones were rather heavy. We were sat at normal bistro type tables without table cloths and with a thin paper serviettes. In all, not what we would expect from an 'afternoon tea'.

This is, bar none, my favourite place to eat, drink, hang out in the area. Staff are fab, Paul, the boss, always has time for a chat. Adam and Claire are always friendly and of course getting to talk with Lucie who is amazing, makes the visit worthwhile always. The food is too notch. An astonishing Gin collection makes the time pass quickly (please add gin martini to the offerings)Do visit. You won't regret it.

Absolutely fantastic. We visited for a birthday party, there was a really cosy atmosphere and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, the food was excellent and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you to all at Paul’s Kitchen, we’ll be back soon!

Visited as a couple and pre booked the afternoon tea, I had a coffee and the wife tea which was served in a Union Jack teapot! The scones were served warm with beautiful fresh cakes and a selection of sandwiches, we had loads but the waitresses told us if we wanted any more food just to let her know but we ended up with a little pack up to take away, keep up the good work

I arranged to meet my client here for a meeting and a bite to eat. Without me having to ask and with no hesitation, as soon as the lady working saw me take out my laptop, she came straight over to offer me the WiFi password. My client arrived and fancied a cooked breakfast and although it was past 11.30am which the menu stated breakfast was served till, the chef very kindly allowed us to have a breakfast. I had poached eggs with salmon and the eggs were cooked perfectly, my client had a Paul’s breakfast and he said it was one of the nicest breakfasts he’s had. I have certainly found myself a new meeting place.

Myself and 4 friends went for lunch at Paul’s. All I can say is from the minute we walked in till we left it was amazing. You walk into a quaint little cafe and are instantly greeted by a smiley face and good afternoon. We told the lady we were a table of 5 and instantly she rearranged the tables to accommodate us. We all got settled and then she came over and told us where the menus were and asked if we would like any drinks. When she had done this she took our order we had a mix of meals and one of my friends wasn’t feeling so great so asked if she could have just 1 egg on a piece of toast which isn’t on the menu but was no trouble at all.Well when the food came down what can I say it was beautiful presentation and looked so appealing. I had the Paul’s meat plank which comes presented on two cans underneath with a board of so many different continental meats and olives and cheeses. It tasted amazing aswell. A few of my friends had burgers which also looked lovely and they said you could tell it freshly made. All the time we were there the lady serving us kept checking we were happy and if we wanted anything else but not intrusively. I can honestly say we will be definitely going back thank you Paul’s and keep up the good work

My son took me for breakfast at my 60th Birthday - I ordered coffee wrong coffee was given to me with dirty spoon. Then i ordered Toast with crushed avacado with chilli sauce, I receive few small chunks of avacado with few drops of chilli sauce. Informed the waitress all she could say is "oh Sorry".No compensation paid in full - she did not deduct a single penny willingly and i was not going to argue to get anything off them - its customer service to get people back in.

My friends bought me a voucher for afternoon tea (the ones you get my like WHSmiths) they paid £34 for it There’s really not many places local to me and Paul’s kitchen had some poor reviews but I decided to give it a go;No one ever answers the phoneEmailed to book and got a confirmation Arrived and they had no booking in the diary and the girl didn’t have access to the emails? Menu charges £21 for afternoon tea for two? So my voucher had been bought for £34 ?????? Waited ages to even get a drink and hey ho my friend couldn’t have a latte just a normal coffee included in the price Sandwiches hard on edges, not very appetising and cakes scones shop bought, certainly no effort madeNot enough staff and they kept disappearing upstairs and customers walked out after not been attended to We finished and wanted to visit the toilet but no one around and the door to the toilet had been wedged closed with a beer keg and no staff around to askWe left and then a member of staff chased us down the road to ask for my voucher to pay! I said I’ve emailed it all when I booked and again she didn’t have access to email Very bizarre and no where near a Betty’s afternoon tea!!!! Not alone my granny’s! Won’t be returning sadly as I hoped to have found a new regular coffee shop to meet up with friends

Went for afternoon tea with mum and 2 sisters, food was ok and service was good but please be warned that they charge a £5 supplement PER PERSON for booking on a Saturday which I think is appaling considering the amount already paid for the groupon and the fact that you don’t get anything more than if you went on a week day! Also it doesn’t state this in the fine print on the groupon so you are not aware when purchasing, only when making a booking. When I questioned the lack of this detail in their fine print their response was “well that’s what it is and it won’t change!” All in all turned out to be a rather expensive afternoon tea and no different to the ones at maybe Drucquers which are a lot cheaper!

Would be good to be notified when food is on the way, which didn't happen here and then showing it had been delivered with no food! This was surprising and a phone call to the restaurant was partially reassuring as they said it was on the way and be here in 10-15 mins, it only took an extra 5 mins. The side (tots) were OK, a good size and cheese and ham flavour was good, a few of them though did have black spots of bad potato and these were avoided. The pizza was hot and tasty.

I moved to the area in May and after moving decided to go to Tesco for a quick easy lunch before our first food shop, we have more or less been weekly since. The staff are friendly, helpful and inviting and the food is great quality, especially considering the price (£2.50 for a child’s meal deal!)
