High Gain House in Oadby and Wigston

Lovely food ! There’s no shortage of Chinese takeaways around this area but in my mind this is the stand out ! 5/5

Piping hot and delivered nice and early too which is always a bonus one of the best chinese places

I was impressed by High Gain House for contacting me to let me know about the non availability of an item. They offered a suitable alternative and even gave us some extra portions. Not only that, we enjoyed our meal.

Worst crispy duck ever. It was mostly skin and I found a large bone in with it. Onions were tough like they were old and had no taste. I would ask for a refund if I could as it went in my bin. Don’t serve food you wouldn’t eat yourself!!! Disappointe

Ordered before and was really good so used you again and it was only ok; a bit dry, not hot. Also left delivery note with very specific instructions but delivery driver had to call twice and still ignored where I said to meet me. What’s the point of even having a section to leave a note if it’s ignored?

actually vile why were the spring rolls soggy and the ying yung chicken tasted like absolute cough syrup do not reccomend. chips were good tho ig

Most of the food was lovely. The curry sauce was spicy and wasn’t the best, the honey chilli chicken was not worth it, the chicken tasted rubbery, couldn’t finish that. But the prawn toast, barbecue ribs and salt and chilli chicken was lovely, would recommend them

They forgot the egg fried rice so had to call to get it send and by the time it was delivered we had finished our food. It also turned up a bit cold and we could not find much chicken in the chicken chow main

Order two chicken curries with vegetable rice. So over-laced with salt they were both inedible. Both meals had to be binned. The food was foul. It makes me wonder whether the high levels of salt were simply a product of poor cooking or to mask the fact that ingredients were not fresh. Either way, I won't be using this takeaway again and urge you not to do so either.

always use as our go to chinese, really disappointed this time. chips stale like they were left over from yesterday, sweet and sour sauce like jelly and the rest of it was cold and no taste other than the chilli.. unfortunately will be looking for a new chinese after this one!

Had a delivery yesterday 2/12/23, around 6ish , food came within 30-40 mins , on a whole the food was very nice and tasty , the pancake roll was lovely and crispy and filled with lots of meat and beansprouts and a little spiciness , beef chow mein was tasty , had it with sauce that elevates the flavour , noodles had the lovely burn from the wok flavour , my only criticism is that the bicarb they use to tenderise the meat wasn't rinsed off enough and that leaves s slightly fishy flavour ,that being said it was still very tasty , we also had chips and chicken balls , the balls were delicious, you could really taste the freshness , nice tender chicken unlike other rubbery pre- made balls , the chips though , were a bit rubbish , I wish takeaways would please stop pre frying them , it really dries them out and gives them a stale flavour , while many people don't believe chips should be on a chinese others feel its an integral part of the meal and chappy chips just ruins it a little , chinese chips used to be wonderful, all in all it was an enjoyable meal and would order again and recommend

Great meals but unfortunately some of it was cold on delivery and had to be reheated.

Normally food is very good, however the order that was delivered today was terrible . It was all cold and the curry was so salty we couldn’t eat it and although we ordered salt and chilli chips the amount of salt applied was ridiculous

Very very salty and High gain special fried rice was slushy and not great. Not like a normal rice should be!! Sweet and sour chicken balls were good. Everything else wasn't!! Disappointing.

Chicken had a funny texture and sauce in the chow mein was really salty. Chilli chips were great.

Chicken was under cooked and slimy not seasoned . Slat and chilli chips were just a bag of chips with no seasoning no peppers or onions. Over cooked chicken balls. Duck was under cooked and slimy

Fantastic food, fantastic service

I don’t know how they cook the chicken but it smelt strange and I couldn’t eat it. It was quite slimy too. My sticky beef was stuck together and hard. Only thing I liked were the noodles. Sorry but it wasn’t what I’d expect

Disappointed- usually our favourite Chinese takeaway. 1/4 aromatic duck - was not crispy, skin was still soft and slimy. Crispy spring rolls were more pastry not much filling. Chinese roast pork curry the sauce was very grainy.

Not really what I ordered. The meat was fatty and tasteless. The sauce was very thick and salty.

Ordered crispy salt chilli chicken which had zero spice and was cold, chow mein which was over £7 only had about 8 small strips of chicken and was luke warm, and curry sauce tasted strange. Ordered here before and wasnt great, thought we would try again and was possibly worse. Chicken balls and chips were ok. Wont be back.

The food was really tasty. The sweet and sour chicken bing king style needed more peppers and pineapple and Szechuan pork could have been spicier but all in all we enjoyed it. The plain chow mein was really tasty.

Hot and tasty all very good. Best Chinese in Wigston and best hygiene results so all good.

Had the Munchy salt and chilli box, absolutely loved it! Very happy! Deffo order again, faultless!

The food was delivered in great time and there was loads of it, but the food itself was dry, tasteless and plain. There was also very little chicken in the chicken balls, it was all batter plus the prawn toast was pretty much inedible it was so hard. It was all nearly cold too. Won’t be using again. Sorry.

Been work all day I was looking forward to a nice take away. The delivery came and we were disappointed the chips were so over cooked the rice was cold the chicken was like slop. Worst take away were had in ages. I won't be ordering again.

Was let down by large chunk of meat in a vegetarian meal, for this to happen there must very poor stanards when cooking vegetarian food . Also was way to salty. Partners meal was ok , Chips where good. But the meat has put me off ordering again.

The good was poor chicken didn’t taste nice Curry sauce tasted very sweet like it had sugar in it the Choi main wasn’t nice and was thrown away Very disappointed unfortunately

Delighted with the early delivery. Portion size was excellent.

Rice was missing to complete meals rang and was told it would be brought straight away .after 30 mins I rang and told them not to bother as all the food was freezing cold and was barely warm when it came in the first place . The beef tom had more onions then anything and not much beef .Disappointing!! Wont be back .

Lovely food, crispy chicken in peking sauce, House special rice, English mushroom omelette. Hot, early delivery and very tasty.

Although the food was lovely the tubs were only just over half full. This was a meal for 2 and whereas we used to get tubs filled right up tonight the beef with mushroom was just over half full and our prawn dish was bearly half full. The chicken balls were tiny and the prawn crackers burnt

Ordered chicken curry with extra mushroom (at extra cost) only got one preice of mushroom. Ordered roast duck in orange sauce. Got more pineapple chunks than duck and not sure what the sauce was but it definitely wasn't orange. I DON'T TOLERATE BAD SERVICE, SO I WONT BE ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN.

Kung po prawns was delicious- right level of heat. Chilli chips were good but just a little too salty for us. Wontons we’re lovely and crispy and the crispy chilli chicken and noodles was just right. Overall great dinner and will order again

Always the best Chinese in Leicester by miles! We have tried other places and always been disappointed as nothing compares to High Gain.

Shocking food, was all cold despite being 30 mins early which is worrying. Chicken was cold and mushy and some of it was slimes and the restaurants attitude towards this was appalling. Never again.

Food was fast delivered, the food was very very Salty, you can’t eat it, Chinese food shouldn’t really have salt at all!

We had chicken curry in a box , it was a thick stodgy mess , not enough sauce . The boxes were broken on delivery so it was all mushed up inside . Never again .

Just wanted to leave a message to say Thankyou for years and years of service. My Family has been ordering from High Gain for over 15 years and we’ve never had a bad meal. I always ask them to make my Szechuan chicken crispy and they always do it for me even though it’s not on the menu. Highly recommend.
