Oriental Star in Oadby and Wigston

Ordered salt chilli beancurd and salt chilli chips. They always arrive hot, fresh, and cooked to personal preference. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff. Never ever received food that was less than perfect, from here. Everyone that i know, that has tasted this food, raves about it.

would of helped if just eat had updated saying it was Preparing your order sooner as had to ring the restaurant to see if they had received my order

Very disappointed with the food, the rice was over cooked and mushy, same as the beansprouts. However the beef and mushroom was lovely, beef tender, nice mushrooms and good flavour sauce.

We've had a few Chinese this year, and this was by far the best. Fresh, crispy not soggy, tasty. Everything we could hope for (but note - no free prawn crackers much to my kids disappointment). Superb - we will be back!

First time experience was brilliant!

Got a takeaway from here on Saturday. Was good overall but rice was a bit clumpy. Had Sweet and sour Chicken HK style, plain chow mein, egg fried rice and the Oriental Star appetiser. It doesn't tell you what you'll get on the menu but is for 2 people. We had 2 dry ribs, 2 small chicken pcs, 4 spring rolls, 2 samosas, 3 small prawn toasts and half tray of crispy seeweed. Not sure if it worked out good value for money at £8.70 but was all tasty enough. Had trouble seeing if they were open for business as a lot of links on google were saying that they only did delivery (like no collection option) and items that weren't available to order?? I think it has something to do with Just Eat or Deliveroo!?? Was easy though to just go in and order and take away. The April 2022 price list is still the current one in case you were confused like us. 👍😊

Food was amazing, delivered on time & piping hot. Only thing we were disappointed about was we spent £45 and didn’t get complimentary prawn crackers! Every Chinese we have ever been to has given a complimentary bag of prawn crackers when spending over a certain amount. Was disappointing considering how good the food was.

Used this takeaway for many years but not for the last couple of years but was always good. Decided to go back tonight for myself and my daughter and quite frankly never again ! The most tasteless takeaway I’ve ever had the disapointment to eat ! Even the instant curry sauce that you whisk up in minutes at home tasted better than what I paid for ! My daughters house special chow mein was mostly veg and noodles and extremely tasteless as was my duck and king prawn curry ! Never again ! Sorry for the poor review but paid for good food and was delivered very poor tasteless food !

Iv tried many takeout chineses and oriental star is by far the best . so tasty we have been customers for 3 plus years never had a bad Chinese .Thankyou oriental star

Been ordering from here for years. Don't order regular but won't order Chinese food from any other place the quality and standard is just always as expected. And the food always tastes as i expect it to do so. Especially the crispy chilli chicken haven't found a place that makes it too the same quality as these guys

Just before the pandemic really hit here our favourite Chinese takeway (New Golden Chef on Claredon Park Road) closed down for good and we knew we had to find another one to fill that void. We tried Oriental Star for the first time over 2 years ago and I can say with full confidence that it's the best Chinese takeaway in the Oadby/Stoneygate area. We've tried several over the years because we find it hard to believe that one on our doorstep is also the best, but it's true! We always come back to Oriental Star and nothing compares to it! If you're within delivery range you have to try it! And even if you're not, you could always collect! It's probably worth the travel! Few tips- I'd suggest ordering a while after opening time to ensure you get the freshest food. Ordering your food for 7/7.30 tends to be the sweet spot for us. And if they're busy, it might be worth the wait. We had to wait 2 hours for our food yesterday (they told us this prior to ordering, so not an issue) and when the food arrived, it was incredible! My cousin Simmy hasn't stopped smiling since she ate the food!

Had a beef curry last night of which more than half went in the bin. This was truly the worst Chinese meal I've ever had - it didn't even taste like curry - more like watered down, processed junk with 2 random slices of carrots and 5 peas thrown in for good measure. Absolutely awful!!!

Also put in the note to ring me with any issues. They cancelled it immediately without bothering to ring me and when I rang to ask why they had cancelled, they said it was because they were busy and couldn’t be bothered to check the ingredients of our food. I asked them if there was any egg or milk in the tofu dishes to which they responded “we don’t know” and continued to tell me they didn’t have enough time to talk to me and the chef was also yelling at me in the background. Worst part is, this was my first place trying this out… DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE EATING RESTRICTIONS/ALLERGIES as they do not know or care what they put into their food. Disgusting service.

Have ordered with Oriental Star before and had no problems it's been on time and lovely but this time it was 15 minutes late. Not sure what happened as always pre-order in the afternoon. Delicious food and Just Eat delivery drivers are always pleasant. Would still order again!

Well after reading all the good reviews I thought I’d order, well what a mistake that was. .My food was over an hour late and when I rang to ask.. how long it would be a lady told me she was really busy and I either wait or have a refund. … very nice! When it arrived it wasn’t that nice tbh. I think some prawn crackers as an apology would have been nice but no chance. I won’t order again. I wish I’d had my money back !!

asked for dish to not comtain shrimp/prawn, I have done this many time before and it hasnt been a problem, sadly the rice dish this time did so I could not eat that particular dish, the rest was nice though.

My first Chinese takeaway for nearly two years and my first time here, well I can only say it was fab, delivered at the time requested, piping hot and delicious. I have never experienced such decent portions either, will Devi make this my place to go in future.

Really delicious food. Everything tastes really fresh and authentic with sauces the right consistency and plenty of meat and Chinese vegetables. Given no Thai places deliver in my area, the Thai red curry is pretty good too! My go-to place for Oriental takeaways.

Chow mein was slimy, as was chicken in cashew nuts. Beef in black bean had very very small pieces of beef, the dish was mostly vegetables. Crispy wonton had almost no filling. Salt and chilli chicken was chewy and tasted only of garlic. All dishes lacked flavour and seasoning.

Ready on time, good food and good service. Would order from here again.

My pork was overcooked and burned. It was impossible to eat. I telephoned to complain but apart from a "sorry " no replacement or refund was offered .

We have ordered from here many times but since the new management have taken over, they have changed the curry sauce. It is very lumpy and bitty and not like any other Chinese curry sauce we have ever tasted. Very disappointed.

We always order our Chinese from here. We’ve been using this takeaway for probably a decade. They deliver and we usually have a set menu which is great as you get more choice at a better price. If we have friends or more family visit we just order the set meal for more people. Food always delicious. Thank you.
