Paul's Golden Chippy in Sunderland

Nice food but terrible delivery service first delivery car broke down so arrived in taxis . Second one food was late because it was dropped on floor and went all over Thought third time lucky but no one hour 30 mins last chance every time over 90mins to deliver

Always go here for our fish and chips never disappointed beautiful food , pizzas , kebabs , all fantastic

Never leave bad reviews but I have to be honest what was delivered tonight was terrible. The tandoori wrap had hardly anything in it, the pizza wrap shouldn’t have been sent out.

Ordered £20 worth of food that arrived 2 hours later and stone cold absolutely disgusting attitude from bloke on phone who didn't care really.....dogs enjoyed the food I think

Food was cold ordered 2 chicken kebabs came with no pitta breads when phoned to complain was told we didn't ask for pitta breads and if we wanted them would have to pay another delivery charge I clicked 2 kebabs if I Ordered cheese burgers wouldn't expect to have to ask for buns will never order again

Food was amazing way better quality than loads of other places I've ordered from. Food was delicious and hot, food was a bit late but I expected it as it's a Friday night. Didn't expect such nice kebab meat from a chippy place. Would 10/10 recommend

Normally love this place but absolutely livid tonight. Placed an order for me and my partner and when it arrived their was a missing item. Called the restaurant to explain and the woman tried to make excuses and said ‘what did you want me to do’ and sounded annoyed when I said I needed the missing item delivered. Promised it would be sent ASAP. 45 minutes later no item. Rang back man on the phone was so unbelievably rude and simply said that he wasn’t sending the item because they were busy DESPITE HAVING TAKEN MY MONEY. I demanded the food be delivered but over an hour later after the second phone call I am still waiting. Absolutely disgusted.

Sadly disappointing. First time we’ve ordered in a long time and first time for delivery. 25 mins late. Food warm but not hot. Girls enjoyed their patties and the gravy and curry were ok. Chips were predominantly scrag ends so uneaten. will not be ordering again anytime soon.

Puzza was looking good but was undercook i call restourant to add garlic souse they say yes no problem but delivery arvived without it

Ordered cheesy chips n wasn’t disappointed. Loads of cheese chips were nice and a good portion. Delivery driver was really friendly and delivered on time. Great service will use again.

Food was missing, food was burnt and when the restaurant was contacted the attitude of the lady was a disgrace! I’ll never be shopping here again

The pizzas must have changed as it was quite thin and I paid for extra cheese but was probably same amount of cheese you would get normally, chips were a little scraggy too. Don't normally write reviews but this time I had to, I'll give Paul's another shot though.

Our go to takeaway. Only ever had the pizza or fish before but both lovely, and the fish is huge. Plus you can't beat proper chippy chips.

Used to order 2/3 times a week spending £20/30 each time but the orders started to come burnt or something missing... after having to write on the notes to tell them not to burn the food or not to forget something we decided to try again tonight.... food was absolutely ridiculous and the attitude from the foreign lady was a disgrace!! Told us to never order from there again and put the phone down!!! Don't worry we won't be ordering again!!! Horrendous customer service!! (Let's see if they delete this review as they deleted my last bad 1)

stopped going to Paul’s a while back as the delivery times were getting worse. decided to try again, order was expected to arrive at 7:55( already over an hour after ordering) didn’t turn up until 8:20 without so much as a sorry its late. won’t be going back again

Love the food from Paul’s although usually I go there personally rather than order a delivery. Tonight I ordered a naan kebab wrap with chips (nothing wrong with the wrap my daughter said it was delicious). I ordered a 12” thin crust hot n spicy pizza with an extra topping of garlic. When the delivery arrived it was a 12” thin crust cheesy garlic bread with cheese with extra garlic on it. I rang them up (the girl on the phone is so lovely) and they were going to send out a replacement. I did receive the correct pizza however no garlic on it let alone the 90p extra I paid for for the extra garlic. Tbh saying the pizza was cold - no stringy cheese when you picked up a piece it was like it had been left for ages and unfortunately I feel it was my original pizza that wasn’t delivered instead of a fresh piping hot one I was promised. I have had to try and warm it up in the microwave to soften it up as it’s so dry. I paid £16.60 for the kebab wrap and this pizza and delivery and I ordered at 1845. Initial delivery was 2000 hrs. And about 2055 hrs when I got my “fresh” replacement. I am very disappointed, a takeaway is a treat for us not an everyday thing and upset about the money I have spent for substandard food. Had better pizza when it’s left over from night before the next day. I’m not saying I wouldn’t order again as generally the food is very nice. But if I order through just eat I won’t be paying via it, cash on delivery as if the food is poor I won’t be paying for it. Sorry Paul’s!! The lady said she was passing on my details to the manager tonight and hopefully will get some closure on the matter!!

The food was really late. Worse was being told that it was on its way and when I rang back they admitted it hadn't left the restaurant. The estimated time was 1hr and 15m after ordering, so it actually arrived almost two hours after ordering.

Got cheesy chips from here and took them back as they weren’t up to the standard they normally are, however one of the staff would’nt give me a refund as he said it wasn’t an option... absolutely disgraceful!!! A wouldn’t accept this in a restaurant so why would I in a chip shop???

Kebab on nan was lovely, garlic bread just as good!

Usually have outstanding feedback about this place but As a regular customer who orders around 1 or 2 times sometimes 3 each week spending £30 plus each time we getting really disappointed... last few times the food is burnt! Orders have been wrong & The pizza wraps have hardly any filling in.. have to put a note on to say (don't burn the food) and still come burnt... don't know what's happening but the only decent thing from this takeaway lately is the customer service from the lad who delivers in the white van 5* 👌👌

I try not to buy takeaway too often but I know I can rely on Paul's fish and chips to hit the spot, crispy fish lush chips. I can totally recommend them.

Chicken Kiev Pizza was lovely. The size of the garlic dips are just what you need. Food was ready to collect on time. Couldn’t fault anything, definitely my new place for pizza.

Every think spot on canny size portions fresh salad and the chilli is 👌 only thing is the price of the dips defo need to do smaller ones

Best fish and chips I ever had! I have tried all those known as ‘the best’ and Paul’s Golden chippy is still my favourite. They were so kind to give me a bag of chips when I ordered fish and mushy peas. This place is my go-to for a quick fish and chips fix! :D

The food from here is lush but the garlic sauce is the main reason i order from PGC, i havnt tasted better anywhere else😊 Would highly recommend PGC to anyone, the staff here r great and 5* customer service too but where has the main delivery driver gone? He was so fast my food was on my lap before i even ordered it 😉

Food was still hot and delicious. Arrived a little early which was a bonus. Saved the wrap I bought until the next day and it even tasted delicious cold!

I went here to get a quick takeaway as I was busy. I got sausage and chips. The chips were disgusting and the sausage was really hard and dry. I eat about 6 chips and had to throw them away.

arrived at stated collection time, order marked as collected as soon as I got there, handed over 20 mins later, got a text 40 mins later saying food ready to collect?

Food was due at 7.05pm. Got notification saying it was en route at 7pm. Didn’t come until 7.47pm. Food portions are a lot smaller than they used to be too. Food was still nice though!

Slightly disappointed this time. Chips were rather soft and soggy. ordered half and half pizza but no prawns available so tried doner meat. Unfortunately this was too dry. Better next time hopefully.

Lovely food all round. Chicken tikka pizza is the best. Large tubs of garlic making it easy to share with family. Piping hot and very tastey. Normally chips are bad from other take aways. Pauls are proper fish shop chips and are lovely. highly recommend x
