This is my local chippy. When it first opened the lite bite was excellent value for money. Enough chips and a decent size fish. On the last 2 occasions I had the lite bite the fish wasn't much bigger than a fish finger. Long wait in the chippy as they were busy getting online orders out. You would do well to remember your local customers!

I don't think you will find a better large fish, lightly battered, anywhere in the country. Simply sensational.....and large. The mushy peas were well above average. The spicy curry was bland but the chips were disappointing. Lots of scrag ends and no consistent thick well cooked chips. I travelled about 8 miles for this. Would I go back?? If I had HP sauce and bread & butter back home, I would go back for fish & peas. There are better chips much closer to home

We all had the large cod and chips. And to be fair it was nice and fresh. But it was cut on the thin side but wasn't over battered.

Rarely have fish and chips but just fancied it during lockdown, so we tried Paul's Fishbar as they delivered. The menu said small cod and large cod...so, naturally, I assumed the small cod was small and the large cod was standard....nope! The small cod is standard and the large cod is LARGE...so large, in fact, that it didn't even fit in the box properly. So everything was reasonably priced, the service was quick and efficient...I think 15 mins from ordering to delivery perhaps. The delivery guy was great and the food was still hot. The batter was crispy and not greasy, chips were perfect chippy chips....the mushy peas were good and the curry sauce was spot on. Cannot fault it, perfect seaside fish and chips in Moss Bank, St Helens. I highly recommend.

Womble Inn is a small place in the Hardshaw shopping centre which is part butchers, part deli and, thanks to a counter at the back, part fast food takeaway. The range of food on offer includes breakfast barms, burgers, chicken nuggets and curry and chips amongst others. When I visited there was a fairly long queue whereas the Waterfields Choice bakery a few doors down was empty which was a promising sign. I opted for a beef brisket and onion barm which for £2.60 was very good value with plenty of filling and certainly for me was a far better option than going to McDonald's for a processed beef burger. I'd bought my barm before going to a rugby match at the TW Stadium and was so happy with what I'd been served that I went back after the match, but unfortunately they'd stopped serving hot food by then. I'd very much recommend this place as a better option than McDonalds or KFC as you'll not only get better food at a decent price but you'll also be supporting a local business. I don't know when I'll next be in Sint Ellins in the daytime but I'll be most likely be heading to Womble Inn for lunch whenever that might be.
