Patisserie Valerie in Belfast

This place is for a treat. It's expensive for the size of slice. I did feel abit bored half way through a slice but my cuppa tea was nice. The staff zoom about like they're flat out even when i was the only customer. I'll get again but maybe as a gift

Visited this store today and what a mistake!! We ordered a tea, diet coke, pain au choclate and a strawberry tart and this came to £14.20. The drinks were brought to our table first by a waitress with an english accent and the tray was filthy- all dried milk stains. I pointed this out to her and she asked me what did i want her to do with it, and did i want her to clean it. I said that tray should have been cleaned a long time ago. Anyway, she went to get the buns, and whilst she was doing this, we noticed the inside of the milk jug was stained with brown stains and the cup was also dirty. When she arrived back with a raapberry tart instead of a strawberry one and the pain au choclate, i pointed out the dirty jug and cup and said i wouldnt be eating here and wanted a refund. So i went inside for a refund and another female member of staff demanded my receipt- which i didnt have - so she was refusing to process the refund. The first waitress advised her to go ahead and process the refund of £14.20. I had paid by card so the "refund" was being processed on the card machine. She asked me to enter my pin, of which i did- she gave me the receipt and on it, it said sale of £14.20. So in actual fact i was charged another £14.20. I pointed this out to her but she had walked away from the till at this point, i asked her if she put it through as a sale or a refund and she said she didnt know! So i told her i was going to check my online banking, of which i did and sure enough she had charged me £14.20 instead of refunding it. She then reqiested to see this! I repeat, she requested to see this on my online banking app. That in itself is totally inappropriate and i pointed this out to her before giving in and showing it to her. A refund was eventually processed for a total of £28.40 & after many attempts of pointing out my annoyance at this, she blamed the card machine- i told her it was nothing to do with the card machine, it was up to her to concentrate and mind what she was doing. Absolutely NO customer service and a filthy establishment. We will not be back. An email of complaint has also been sent.

I was attracted by the PV deal on the board on the street as I was wafting by, oblivious to most things around me. It was early, bright and warm and my initial focus was Hotel Chocolat for a great flat white. All the staff there are charming. Now, like it or not, as a customer I do like a tad of courtesy and an occasional smile when I’m out shopping - and especially in hospitality. Not much to ask for, I’m a please and thank you shopper and when I don’t get it I usually brush it off but here irritated me yesterday (12 August 22). As I said the free pastry deal required £3.45 for the offered coffee and my choice of an almond croissant but I wouldn’t return here. M&S do a far better almond croissant for £1. So the PV coffee was good but not great. 3 star. The PV almond croissant was a doughy 2 star and would benefit from lightness and more almond it’s more a croissant that may contain almond. The server and service were both grim and minus 5 star and no one should need training to be courteous and mannerly. I stood inside for a few minutes. the only customer, I could see the young lady who was doing something several feet away. I expected her to come along to serve me but as I stood and waited she continued whatever she was doing. So I cleared my throat and coughed and my my dimensions I’m not quiet and at 6’ 4 I’m hard to miss. But no reaction and no service so I coughed again - a real bad flu type but nowt. After several minutes coughing and throat clearing I just said loudly hello. It worked but as she approached she offered no greeting, no smile it was simply what do you want, so I chose my pastry and she made the coffee and bagged to pastry all while looking around and it was as if I wasn’t there. I paid and she returned to what she was doing and here’s what bugged me and tipped it over. I walked to a table to put the bagged croissant into my rucksack and she loudly snarled at me to tell me I’d ordered takeaway and had to go - that’s how it came across - as if I was stealing the sugar. I simply noted I was bagging up the croissant and she did not say anything more. I left thinking wow that’s not acceptable and downright ill mannered. No wonder I was the only customer there for quite a time. I went into Hotel Chocolat a few minutes away joined a queue and got a great coffee and a warm welcome. If you like ill-mannered, unpleasant staff and shoddy treatment this PV store will be right up your street if your not asked to leave oh and if you don’t the good news Is there’s an alternative is two minutes away.

Currently sitting in Patisserie Valerie with my daughter having coffee and a cake. We were greeted with a HELLO when we came in and then the staff ignored our presence while they cleaned and replenished the window. Should have left at that point but we didn’t. We ordered and sat down. Coffee arrived adorned with chocolate. When I told her I was allergic to chocolate and I APOLOGISED! Reaction was passive aggressive. Another latte arrived and we enjoyed the cake. However I would think twice about returning. Customer service is so important and the staff here really need to get their act together and make customers feel welcome and certainly not an inconvenience! 🙁

Took my mother in-law for coffee and cake yes most of yous will all think you get on with your mother in-law that much lol ...but yes we are very close anyway had the nicest person greet us, it felt like I had paid for a personal assistant Ashleigh went over and beyond for the both of us nothing wasn't a trouble, even though this girl was snowed under she still came over to make sure everything was okay and if we needed anything else ie( extra milk or the coffee warmed up) .. you know what it's like when you get talking lol just want to say thank you for making us feel like we could of sat there all day with out a bother .. if you have never been please go and see the warm welcome this girl Ashleigh gives you 👏👏👏👏

Ashley went above and beyond for our family who have allergies. Was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

After arriving in Belfast we stopped here for lunch (and to escape the rain). The sandwiches were decent but the bread was a bit too hard for my liking. I was given a lint covered glass but it was quickly replaced at my partner's request. Our server was prompt and courteous.

A shout out to a young man doing his best running the front of the store alone. Thoroughly polite but unable to keep up. The cappuccino was good, the pastries a bit tired as the beautiful store front pulling in the unsuspecting. We’ll try elsewhere next time.

Visited the Forestside branch a few weeks ago with my toddler, my mum and my sister for lunch. The only people eating was my sister and I, toddler had his packed lunch and mum just wanted a coke. So that's 2 meals, 3 drinks and a (SUPER SMALL!!) side portion of chips - I was charged £31 !! In hindsight I should have queried that because for 2 sloppy toasties, limp side salad and tiny minuscule portion of fries I wouldn't even have paid a tenner. The 4 of us had lunch again today, this time at the lovely Treat Street in Ballyhack. 3 drinks ordered, 3 paninis which came with lovely side salads and coleslaw and crisps, plus a ham/cheese croissant for the toddler and a portion of chips for the table (3 times the size). Came to £30. So not only bigger portions and fresher, tastier food, but 4 meals, big portion of chips and 3 drinks at Treat Street is cheaper than 2 meals, small portion of chips and 3 drinks at Patisserie Valerie. Big company name should take not from the local cafes. Overpriced disgusting food, they won't be robbing me again.

My wife and I visited this cafe for lunch on Friday 20th May 2022. Never been so disgusted at the attitude of the manager. He was rude and ignorant not only to us but other customer as well. My wife spoke to him regarding his attitude and was treated in a sneering and condescending manner. We will never use this outlet again and would advise others to avoid it as well

One of the best Patisserie Valeries I have been into. Always busy and great food . Bubbly atmosphere while still being very cosy.
