Franklins Sports Bar in Belfast

Bar staff don't care and it closes when they want. Kitchen closes without warning so dont count on food. No commentary on any sport as the staff are too busy listening to their latest playlist. Avoid at all costs.

Have to scan a barcode at your table to order food, out the table number in, waitress still couldn't find our table. Loaded Nachos were a disgrace, chunks of cheese on top as grater must of been broke. Chicken wings were laughable at best. Food just horrific. Massive screen for football, however the atmosphere in the place was just dreary and boring.

Did not eat there. But had a massive screen for sports

Went in to watch the match, food was great and staff were very friendly. Service was spot on, everything well managed. Found there were plenty of other sports to watch as well - I'll be back!

Great sports bar with a giant main screen and various other TVs around the place. Good selection of beers and a reasonable menu; burgers, loaded fries, wings, etc. Pool tables as well. Excellent service from all members of staff.

We wanted to have just a drink, without meal, so we had to take really bad places even though there were a lot of available tables

Need to get the beer garden sorted. Very scruffy and untidy.

If you want sports this is your bar. A massive screen and then tons of other screens dotted about

Sort it out. Get a manager who knows how to run a bar and staff who actually can do their job. Awful projector (one week it has a yellow box, next week it’s all distorted), disgusting toilets, awful food and staff who would rather chat to each other than work. I’m done with this place. So much potential, wasted.

A very bizarre place. It's almost like they don't want the business to succeed. Been here 4 times now, today bringing a group of people, and it will probably be my last. Great screens, decent sound, decent seats, good drinks. Awful food. FREEZING COLD - everyone had coats on! No crisps or nuts. Only two bar staff on. Toilets downstairs broken...again. Toilets upstairs - dryers didn't work. Female toilets downstairs, door broken. Its been the same EVERYTIME. I want to love this place so much but don't think I will be back. UPDATE: May 2024 Gave it one last chance. Had a huge yellow box in the middle of the screen. "Something wrong with the projector. One of those things" the barman shrugged. Gf complained about no toilet roll in the women's toilets - 2 hours later, was the same. Every single table was sticky. Ugh. Could be a great place but clearly needs a decent manager and more staff.

When we arrived it was quite full because there was still a game from Premiere League playing. The employees were quite nice and informed us, that once the match was done, they could change it to the Bundesliga for us. You can order your food through QR-Code on the table and that quite practical. With the drinks was a bit annoying always having to go on the bar to order it. But it was still okk. Over all it was a good experience to watch football.

We were here from England over the weekend. The barstaff were fast and friendly, the manager even went and got us seats in front of the screen as we are an older couple. Absolutely recommend wonderful night!

Great bar for watching sports. Each screen looks like it can have a different sport. Able to order food from the table.

Be prepared to be disappointed if you want to watch a game of football . you might be lucky and they will show it on a TV that you can see but when I went there they had a game only on the big screen that hasnt many places to watch from

Great place to watch the sports. The staff very kindly put in the Dunfermline vs Dundee United game for us. Very nice Indian lady behind the bar.

The main appeal of the the place is as a “sports bar”. However they’re showing the sports from NOW TV. Which is obviously a streaming platform. And again obviously that means the live sport is not “live”. You 30-40 seconds behind actual sky sports or whatever it may be. So if you’ve got idiots with their phone out spoiling it as they know a goal has gone in or a race has been win. It really defeats the object of marketing itself as a prime destination for sport. Had to leave on Gold cup Friday as a group of lads behind us had their phones out cheering horses that had won, despite the race being only halfway round on the franklins screens.

Pints were very poor but I was advised the gas wasn't good that day.grub mediocre nothing special staff are really friendly

Not the place to watch all 6 nations games they favour the football first

Went for a works night out. 17 or us. 6 or 7 rounda of drinks and a feed for 15 of us. When asked was there any chance of the other 2 meals we were asked to leave because the waitress felt intimated. Have since learned this has happened to other groups. One member of the door staff (who I done the door with years ago) told us it happens all the time with groups of 6 or more. Will never be back...

Nice sports bar, reasonable prices. We were hoping to grab some dinner but they had stopped serving food. Huge screen which was great. Slightly chilly in there so we did leave early as we couldn’t get warm.

I visited Franklin's Sports Bar on the Saturday between Christmas 2023 and New Year's (Sat 30th December), to meet a friend for a few games of darts and some drinks. The bar staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. My one-star review is for the chef who is based upstairs, in close proximity to the dart board. Throughout the duration of our trip to the bar (approximately two hours), he was engaged in a fantastic routine of picking his nose continuously and then mixing flour, spices, etc., in bowls, with his unwashed hands. He did this while glued to his phone throughout, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings or to the fact that paying customers could actually see what he was doing. Doing this while cooking at home would be grim enough. To do it when in a position of cooking for actual paying customers, is on another level. As I walked downstairs to go to the bar, I felt sorry for the people I passed who were eating burgers, pizzas, etc., having presumably ordered their food on the assumption that basic standards of hygiene and decency were being followed. It was one of the most disgusting sights I've seen in a hospitality setting. I'm leaving this review so that other people can make an informed decision when considering whether to order food in there.

Manic, packed out for Man Utd v Liverpool. Queued for 20 minutes to get a pint, but cracking atmosphere. Great fun. Easier to get served another night.

Proper sports bar. Mostly men but that didn't matter. If you like a beer and the footy then this is the place to go.

Friendly staff and a great atmosphere for those wanting to watch live sports! I’ve been to quite a few sports bars over the years and this easily has the most guaranteed viewing experience with the giant screen! ⚽️🍺

Pool tables too👍 It’s a big place so it’s probably hard to keep warm but it’s positively freezing in the place 🥶 which is also the reason the food arrived candle warm . Service and staff are really good tho So it could be a really good bar if they sort out a couple of things. And please sort that gents toilet door that bangs horrendously every 20 seconds

They don't take reservations - which is poor, especially, if you want to see a specific sporting event. Apparently, they do food, but there is indication if do on their webpage. When you call them your answered with appalling manners. Moronic is a good word to describe the service. That, to some extent, is not the serving staff's fault, but the management's fault. The management don't hire the right people, nor do they train them properly. To add to the above, they had the sporting event on that we wanted, and with commentary. We wanted to have food. Kitchen did not open until 13:30. We pre-ordered - they took our money. When noticed it was late and asked about the food, we were told the chef had not turned up! No apologies, no offer of getting us food in, or a drink - nothing. Male toilets on one level were out of order. It is fault of the people who run The Perch, Sweet Afton, Henry's. They are all poorly run. If someone is reading this and they're into running bars, can you open a decent sports bar, where people can get something to eat and have decent service.

I love coming here but please, please, sort the toilet situation out!

Went for a drink with friends. Service was atrociously slow, staff were not even aware who was next to be served and some who had been standing 10 minutes were over looked for those just in. Was not pleasantness with them either.

Contacted the bar before arriving as wanted to find a bar that was showing a specific football match. Sent message on Instagram and they got back to me straight away. Arrived 30 minutes after they had opened and we were the only ones in the bar. Great big screen and lots of smaller screens too. Fantastic venue to watch whatever your sport is. Would have given 5 stars but there was no food available due to an oven issue but this didn’t spoil the enjoyment.

Had a lovely family day ruined by one staff member. I have never experienced anything like it. Unwarranted rudeness and threatening behaviour from someone who needs a wealth of training before he should be working with people. Swift response from manager when first reported, but over a week on, I am yet to receive an update, despite requesting this as part of my original complaint.

Went for a lovely day out with 3 family members to watch rugby on 18th March. We queued in the rain to get a good seat. Got settled and staff member told us the seats would have to be given up at 4.30 pm as they were booked. Which is strange as when a few days before we asked to book seats and was told we couldn’t. We agreed without a quibble. Enjoyed the rugby, spent a lot of money on food and drinks in the meantime. At 3.50 pm the same staff member came back and told us to drink up and get out of the seats. We said we would be ready to go before 4.30 as we were finishing food and had just ordered another round of drinks. At 4.10 he came back and said “I have been more than nice to you and you can either hear it from me or the bouncer to get out of those seats” We were ready to go and just waiting on a round of drinks to come to take away to stand somewhere as there were no other seats available. It was only 4,15 pm. We gathered our things up including nearly finished food that had arrived late and still no drinks. He made no effort to clear the table and we had to stand at the table to await our drinks order. It was humiliating and he looked angry as we were still beside the table unseated. Others piled into the seats who hadn’t booked and sat there to at least 4.45 pm. He was rude to my daughter as well and she was more than polite to him. A pig of a man who ruined our day. Don’t go there is my advice to you. Other staff were nice but he let them all down. Management now know who he is as we complained directly to them.

We had a fantastic time in Franklins the staff, food, drinks and atmosphere was brilliant. Obviously Ireland won too the icing on the cake. ☘️☘️

Franklin Sports Bar is cheerful, welcoming and huge, just like your own sofa! There you can watch many matches of not only mainstream sports but a wide variety. The architecture and design of the place brings you to a really different experience. I can assure you that you will enjoy your night over there 💛

Went to watch the Leinster Ulster Rugby. Was first told they couldn't show, then they put it on upstairs on one TV. Lost coverage with 30 mini to go. Half hour queau at the bar for a pint. Don't think I'll be rushing back.

Went to franklins to watch the match. Manager Stephen couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating of our query. Great customer service. Will definitely be back!

Do not go here if you want to watch sport. Before arriving I made sure they were showing what we wanted to watch. They confirmed this. After showing some of the event they changed the channel to another sports event. I asked them to change it back and they did thankfully. They then turned it back and there was a massive delay (I knew the results before watching from my bets) of at least an hour. They clearly don't use legit streams for sports events, even though this is a sports bar. After finally fast forwarding the event to the right point it then continually froze, presumably because either the WiFi isn't good enough or they used a bad stream. They also loudly played music rather than the sports commentary That being said, all staff were great. Just don't go here if you want to watch sport, really expect better from a sports bar

Service is good but sports showing is terrible, the main TV is fine but single TVs around the bar are all on streams and keep losing quality/freezing

Honestly I would give this a 0 if I could. I went into the bar to watch the premier league, the waiter came upto me and told me I was barred from the bar and asked me to leave for no reason. He couldn’t give me a reason. I refused to leave, and he brought security to remove me, the bouncers were straight up rude and till the end they didn’t give me a reason. He said if I had to argue more he was gonna use force to remove me. He asked me to come up tomorrow to talk to the manager and sort out the problem. Im an indian international student, been like 15 days since I was here. Watching the game at Franklin is what made me kept going here. I was alone in the bar and I did nothing. I think these guys are just straight up racists. Such a terrible experience here and I could do nothing about it. No one really wanted to help me there.

Sports bar. And a good one. Plenty of screens for multiple games. Clued in bar maid. Decent selection of beer. Nice crowd. English doorman was sound. Does what it needs to for a city centre sports bar.

Waited over an hour for food. Ordered a vegan pizza for my weird mate and after 45 minutes we were told this was not available. The bar staff offered a free round as an apology which was fair enough but then we were told this was not possible over half an hour later. Worst of all Max Verstappen won the F1

This was our first time here and we Loved this place. Not a big food menu but you've everything you need on it, food was lovely and we went to watch the Newcastle vs City game last Sunday. Great match and what I liked about Franklins was because there's an upstairs with pool tables we stayed downstairs watched the match and wasn't overly loud which was good. Cheap enough too for some drinks especially during happy hour when the matches are on. We'll definitely be back for sure.

Great place to watch live football on massive screens. The staff made me feel welcome on my first visit to this lively city. Drink promotions were wonderful, and there's a decent buzz about the venue.

As a raging sexist, it was nice to see a place keeping segregation alive! This bar has no women and that's how it should be.

Great big screen sports viewing. Decent selection of draught beers....in theory. But service really leaves a lot to be desired. Food pretty slow to appear - which is hard to understand on a relatively basic bar menu. But the main irritant, and I've seen this on more than one occasion, is the inability to keep the draught beers on tap. The likes of Staropramen seems to be off more often than not. Come on lads, sort it out.

Decent prices for the city centre. Unbelievable sports coverage, showing any requested sport, as well as at least 10 TVs with a cinema size projection. Definitely worth a visit for any sports lovers!

Went to Franklins to watch the England game as advertised their website and grab a bite to eat. Have to say I was disappointed with both. I had to ask them to put the England game on after kick off and as for the £14 chicken burger, the less said about the service the better. I love waiting half an hour, chasing it, then having it 'placed' on my table with no apology and not given the option of condiments and napkins. Won't be going there again if I go to Belfast!
