Strange one this. It's inside Debenhams and Debenhams have their own coffee shop and cafe and a restaurant so Valerie always has plenty of seating. But it comes at a price. A pot of tea and a regular coffee come out at around the £3 mark each and a butty is around a fiver so do the maths first. Mind you the Valerie cakes are legendary.

Called in here for a coffee before we got down to walking around Liverpool shop's. The young man on the counter was extremely patient while I looked for my Vectis card to apply a discount. He was efficient & friendly. The coffees tasted good and were extra hot like I had asked for. As for the custard slice my brother said it was fantastic. Will definitely call in again next time im in Liverpool.

Have stopped here a few times mainly for hot drinks while shopping in the area. On this occasion service was very good, quick and friendly. Drinks were made and we're good as you would expect ordered hot chocolate and a pot of Tea. Unfortunately on this visit we found the restaurant looked uncared for with dirty tables that had not had been cleared up or cleaned so customers were wandering around looking for a clean table which is a shame as otherwise it would have been another positive experiences. Not sure if short staffedbut didn't give the impression you would expect. Hopefully was a one off

We ordered 2 teas and a scone. When we cut into the scone it was white and looked as if it had been left too long in a freezer before being cooked - it was hideous and we returned it as inedible! How can this cafe get it so wrong with a simple scone. Glad we didn’t order anything else. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic and actually refunded our teas and the scone.

After visiting this establishment for the first time, I had my little boy with me in a pushchair. So I ordered a pot of tea and a cake. I got no assistance to help with my hot drink to a table so I had to do several trips to pick up my drink and cake. I sat down and shortly after finishing my cake a assistant came over to me and rudely pointed to my plate without any words. I said 'yes I have finished thankyou' I would not recommend this place at all, the cafe inside Debenhams itself are much more friendly, helpful and very considerate. The customer service was appalling.

Visited today with my daughter and had afternoon tea and it did not disappoint.Staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. Ordered our tea and cappuccinos (these were bottomless!) and waited for the stand of goodies to arrive at our table. The waitress who brought it out was lovely and so complimentary of my daughter. The food was delicious we actually couldn’t finish it. The sandwiches were lovely and the cakes were so fresh. I will definitely return. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is that the toilet is on the top floor so afterwards had to traipse up to the top floor, never the less it was a great experience and I would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Situated in Debenhams this is a nice place for a coffee and cake. The coffee is good and the cakes the others had looked good and they said it tasted good.

We were given a voucher as a present from our son and decided to try this Valerie in Debenhams. We arrived at 11.55 and were told they don't start afternoon teas until 12.00. No problem, we took a seat for five minutes and then went back to the counter and ordered. It was well worth the wait. Everything was presented beautifully. Very fresh sandwiches, warm scones with jam and cream, quiches and a lovely selection of cakes. The waiting staff were very polite and attentive and they told us we could have more tea/coffee if we wanted it. Can't understand previous reviewers regarding the tables being dirty, we found it to be spotlessly clean. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

I'm a huge fan of Patisserie Valerie's cakes so was pleased to discover this new outlet just below Debenhams, ideally situated when you're out shopping in Liverpool One. Each time I've been in for cakes to takeaway however, the selection available has been hit and miss, even early in the afternoon. Last time a friend was visiting we popped in to the actual cafe for a treat. So disappointing! It feels cheap and nasty, perched just by the main sales floor with uncomfortable chairs and tables, not well cleaned. The serving staff were friendly enough but the atmosphere was terrible, I felt ashamed to have taken my friend there. Plus, I ended up not having anything other than tea as they only had a few pastries left. And although they serve the excellent Suki tea the teapot was stained and battered. Avoid this Patisserie Valerie and get their cakes from Sainsburys outlets, this cafe is doing the brand no favours.

This is in the Debenhams basement with a door on to the street. No toilets on this floor - had to go up 2 floors for that! Cakes were ok. I had lemon cheesecake - it was a bit heavy! I left half of it....

We are experts on afternoon teas in Liverpool. No alcohol at all to help celebrate an occasion. Would not visit again. Would rather pay more for a hotel.

I managed to sort out my friend's 22nd birthday cake in April in such short notice and may I say it was absolutely gorgerous, to how it looked and tasted! I would 100% recommend Pastisserie Valerie to anyone who hasn't tried it.

I'm generally a fan of costa coffee - the tiffin is usually great, the coffee is fine. However, on this occasion it just didn't work. Quite a limited choice of food on offer, and one of the least friendly customer teams I've come across. The toasted sandwich also tasted a bit stale frankly. There was also no decaf coffee on offer. The tiffin was lovely however. Not sure I'll visit this branch again soon - better off going to other places around the corner.

Very good staff and service especially the apple pie but my friend is gluten free but no bread so no sandwiches for her and not one cake unlike what they had in Chester who had 3 different ones .
