Everyone gravitates to Costa at these services, where there is frequently a long queue. Stroll across the atrium to Patisserie Valerie where the quality and service are good and there is not normally a queue. The coffee is just as good!!

Stopped in for a breakfast hoping to get something a little healthier / classier in there as opposed to the neighbouring Ed’s or Costa. Staff seemed good and service was quick but Mashed Avocado breakfast had cold eggs and WiFi was useless so the additional price wasn’t warranted really. I’ll stick to Costa next time (and come here for cakes only!)

The only down side with Patisserie Valerie is their price but quite frankly I do not see many places making quality confessionary.

It doesn’t matter which of Valerie’s delicacies you order at the pastry counter, they’re all yummy. While the apple tart I had last month wasn’t as good as the tarte au pommes I’ve had in Paris or Brussels, it was still delicious, and reminded me of the continent, as did the “almost” milles feuilles. :) The cakes are quite good, although not nearly as delicious as those at Neates Cakery in Eastbourne! Still, I prefer any of the offerings at Valerie over many other patisseries. The atmosphere inside is also very pleasing, and there is seating outside in case the sun magically appears.

Stopped at services for lunch. Decided on Patisserie Valerie based on experiences at other branches. Ordered one full breakfast and coffee plus two quiches, salad and new potatoes with tea. The breakfast was ok as was the coffee. However, the quiche was dry and rubbery, the pastry having been overheated in a microwave and not much filling. The potatoes were drenched in a thick mayonnaise tartare type of dressing so heavy that the potatoes weren’t visible and couldn’t be tasted. (I scraped as much as I could off but still couldn’t taste potato and was left with around three tablespoons of the dressing covering almost half the pkate). The salad was a few leaves and an olive but equally drenched in a caesar type salad dressing. The tea was fine. We bought cakes to take away which as ever were lovely. Overall, would not recommend the meals but tea, coffee cakes is what they’re good at.

Lovely stop for a coffee break and a rest from motorway driving. The coffee was lovely and the pain aux raisins freshly made. A great selection of pasties/cakes to take away. Will certainly ensure I call in again the next time I’m on that particular stretch of the motorway.

Many years ago Patisserie Valerie was the place to go on the high street for a taste of a real French Patisserie, sadly that not usually the case now. At the start there were only a handful in the country. There are numerous cafes/restaurants on the high street selling French style patisserie, indeed there are many Patisserie Valerie – some of theses are good, some woeful (see previous reviews). This outlet (I believe they are all franchises) is located at the Cambridge A14 services. We ordered buttermilk pancakes with bacon, plus coffees. No bacon ! How can an establishment producing breakfasts run out of bacon? The staff member on the till, was new (I can only assume so); she was incredibly slow, and asked the most inane questions. Indeed it was obvious that her colleague preparing the coffees was getting fed up and very frustrated having to help her out constantly. The actual food arrived reasonably quickly, and was nice – the pancakes were fresh, with good quality blueberries, and the coffees were good. So a real mixed bag, decent food, slow service, bit expensive (but you knew that anyway).

Travelling up to Kings Lynn, we needed a service station stop for a bite and a drink. Not a great deal on offer, so we thought we would try Patisserie Valerie for the first time. Well, what a sad lunch we had. So my wife had a salad. She said it was o.k. and quietly consumed it. I chose a panini, with avocado and I think some type of cheese. It was warmed up in seconds, just seconds. But then placed immediately onto a thin tissue which of course stuck to my potential lunch and proved near impossible to remove. Can I say just how foolish this practice is. One occasion is just too much for me. I assume this practice is to be found in all Patisserie Valerie's across this great country of ours. I think I shall just look elsewhere on long motorway hauls.

We had a voucher for afternoon tea and a box of cakes to take away too. The lady serving ( I believe she was originally from Poland ) - was excellent. The pot of te came straight away , quickly followed by the afternoon tea. The sandwiches, scones, and cakes were excellent and very enjoyable. The lady who served us originally came over to remind us we could have unlimited tea refills, and that when we were ready she would box our choice of cakes up to take home !

My bruschetta with red and orange peppers and rocket was absolutely gorgeous. My husband had the chicken skewer with pilau rice and side salad. He loved it. The chicken was juicy and the pilau rice tasty and hot. We followed it with a warm pecan tart with cream and it was so delicious. We couldn't believe we were actually sitting in a motorway service station! We complimented them before leaving which is something we don't get the chance to do very often. The tea was tea leaves and again, very enjoyable. 10 out of 10 for this establishment. They've certainly got it right. The menu is full f delicious options. Don't change a thing!

We have eaten at many of these bakeries and enjoyed them but this was a let down. Service at the counter was slow and the cakes were dry and didn't seem fresh. Really disappointed. Even the coffee was not good.

Being as we are regular users of our excellent local Patisserie Valerie we were delighted to find one in a roadway services. The food was of the usual high standard. I would agree with other reviewers that the coffee was awful though, it is not often we leave coffee but we did on this occasion, it was really bitter. There was another area that greatly disappointed me. On our arrival on a busy Saturday I was pleased to see that there were plenty of empty tables in the seating area. That is until I tried to find a clean one! In all the time that we sat having our lunch I watched several tables being cleared of cups and plates but not one was wiped down. There was a slice of toast by one chair and milk on the floor by another. What a let down, especially knowing of the high standards of hygiene usually found in Valerie's. On our return journey four days later it appeared that the waitress serving food and coffee was also cleaning tables on this occasion, leaving the counter unmanned. Not an ideal situation and maybe more staff are needed here as the ones that were working were doing a great job. Despite these criticisms I still have given four stars as I really did enjoy my poached eggs on toast for lunch!

We stopped off at Cambridge Services in search of food to see us through the day. As service station food can be rather samey, I didn't have high hopes. However, Patisserie Valerie was amazing. We had the 2 course menu for £9.95 and it was tremendous. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We will certainly make for this place again when passing and suggest you do too.

Had a light lunch here on my way along the A14 to a meeting. Although the Cambridge services has everything you would expect in the way of fast food I noticed that this restaurant seemed to attract a more adult customer base (although no reason why children were not here- probably just preferred burgers). So I decided to have a sandwich and coffee here instead of out in the main services tables area. Please be aware though that if you have no will power (like me) that you will end up also buying one of their wonderful cakes. My coffee, sandwich and cake arrived quickly and the coffee is the best in the services. Recommended if you have to stop here.

Nice service and reasonable food. Pricey but the service station prices are all shamefully high anyway, I've never had any complaints and the coffee is the best here.

Poor breakfast (poor quality for too high a price), and not generous in proportion to ££. Slow service cooking the breakfast too. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return. Staff weren't the best either - I'd describe them as being 'offish', when it costs little to be friendly!

Visited this place last week . Waited at the counter for about 10 minutes . Two staff members stood chatting away and refuse to look our way . By then another person joined us and queued . She gave up after a few minutes . We then decided to walk around the counter to ask for our order . The way we were spoken to was a disgrace . The girl clearly did not know what she was doing. She then asked the other person for my order , that person barked, tell them we ve run out and go to another outlet . She did not even look our way . Service, what service!! The place was empty i wonder why??

Just wanted to thank Nikos, Hayleigh and the team at Lot 25 for looking after us so well at the Wake we have just held there at the café. The treated us with compassion and understanding from the first meeting to organise everything and kept us fully posted up to the day, where they looked after our group of over 100 family and friends so incredibly well. A superb venue, lovely staff and lovely food, thank you.

Always enjoy visiting here for something to eat and drink, usually breakfast items such as a bacon and egg roll, scrambled eggs on toast. Food quality is always very good, and I think the staff there are excellent. Polite, friendly and always very helpful. Visit about two or three times a month. We have bought plants, bags of peat or compost, and I like the collection of greeting cards for sale. Always good to spend the money accumulated on the Loyalty card.

£9 pounds for 3 cold takeaway sausage rolls at 4pm. Rip off. didn't display the price either hence ended up buying it as the guy had packed already. His friendly attitude doesn't cool the pain of such waste of money.

Sunday lunch. Loads of well cooked veg and tender meat. Only criticism was the vast amount of thick (bland) gravy poured over the entire meal. Would have preferred a gravy boat so could choose how much gravy to have. Unfortunately the gravy dominated all the other flavours - other wise would have been a delicious Sunday Roast. At £20 a head I would have expected delicious (non-generic) gravy that compliments the meal. Sticky toffee pudding was to die for ! Lots of warm sticky toffee sauce and a light and delicious sponge , and some lovely vanilla ice cream ! Staff were lovely , service quick and efficient. Lovely ambience. Minor tweak with the gravy recipe / and a gravy boat and would have been top marks !

We first visited about 10 years ago when our daughter moved from Scotland to this area. We went in and were immediately spotted by the host "Yes sir, what can I get you?" with a welcoming smile. I was unfamiliar with the local ales, and was invited to try a selection free of charge. "Are you eating" he enquired. "Then have a seat, I'll bring your drinks over and get your order". And so it has continued for about 10 years. A place to really enjoy. In 2 weeks this will end. I just hope that when we next return, the new owner can continue this service. In the meantime, thank you!
