Cosy and clean. Not keen on the dogs but it's fine.

Very strong smell coming from the salmon so didn’t eat it. Coffee was disappointing.

This has quickly become one of my favourite spots. The interior is charming and inviting, creating a cosy atmosphere. The coffee is excellent, and the feta quiche is absolutely delicious. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. I'll definitely be returning soon!

The team are warm and welcoming at this lovely boutique bakery with ample seating in a cosy vibe. The food selection is great and also delicious.

The crepes especially savoury ones are a family favourite and absolutely delicious. The food is always fresh and the patisserie, there's something for everyone's taste.

I came here during my London trip, and I wasn't disappointed. The waiters are so kind and welcoming, and the food is so good, perfect french food ! All perfect, I recommend. The place is also so cute. Thank you so much !

I used to come here regularly but not anymore. I ordered coffee/ toast and jam - Coffee came quickly but toast took well over half an hour! I was considering going over to Robert Dyas, buying a toaster to return and make my own toast (Would've been quicker). My parking ran out waiting forever for a piece of toast. Nobody cared. I felt service was non existent. Despite this I gave place benefit of doubt (twice!) and put it down to a bad day? However on return, the same nonsense. I think most customers understand that things can go a little wrong sometimes but as long as there is some communication and respect, are totally fine with it. Maybe my last experiences here were a little blip that they have now sorted out? But honestly If you treat the customer like you can't be bothered, you will get the same 'courtesy' back.

I've not been here before as I thought that they only do cakes and hot drinks. The shop actually has various foods from breakfast to main meals which was a pleasant surprise. Its however slightly on a pricier side. Nice ambience, though, I would go back.

My experience is for this morning and I had coffee and carrot cake, the staff were talking loudly and their service was very slow while the shop was quiet, I do not recommend at all.

On my last visit I was quite disappointed with my experience. I had a panini sandwich and the bread was burnt. This is the second time this had happened so i never order food anymore only pastries. Also the male staff are so loud talking to each other from the kitchen. They were slow to notice that customers were waiting. It seems like they are treating the place like their hangout chatting loudly instead of working!

Bought a latte with oat milk to go, it took the guy ages to make it and when I got to taste it, in my car and on my journey to my next destination the latte was like dish water! and he hadn't used oat milk as requested. I had to chuck it away after that initial taste, it was undrinkable. the latte was expensive and a total waste of money.

The Barista was an idiot, he could not get the order right, he tried to make the Oat Mocha with Dairy Milk and then fob it off as Oat, but when pressed he claimed he misheard, even after saying otherwise. The female server seemed to be the boss and she was chatty and nice, maybe they just need to hire a better barista! The coffee’s were ok at best.

The chocolate and lemon cheesecake with the physalis on top is amazing!!! The price is good. I will go back and try something different ❤️

Terrible service, wrong food served and no apologies and when I checked my bank statement they had charged me £3 extra from what the bill was. The service charge had already been added to the bill. Only realised now. Be aware before swiping your contactless card. would not recommend to anyone.

Haven't used this establishment for a long time but was convenient for my needs. Quality very good, but incredibly expensive as I had been told, hence why have not used. £16.80 for four small fruit tarts is ridiculous and why is nothing priced?? There are alternatives in Barnet!

I was waiting for half a hour and they cooked our food terribly,cooked our food wrongly,and also brought 2 of the wrong dishes this place is terrible and j would never come here again

this place is terrible I came here with my family and they gave us the food we didn’t order (we waited an hour) then they said they will give us the correct order we had to wait another hour and they gave us one of our meals half an hour before the other ones overall I would never come here and never come here again because it’s absolutely terrible

Useless!!! Such a dirty place! The staff don’t clean the table, the Iranian girl just wiped with her hand. Ordered breakfast, waited 35 min and the girl who was serving sat down to have her breakfast while i was waiting for mine! When I’ve asked where is my breakfast she said calm down!!! I could hear every table was complaining.

This place is infuriating, we have tried a few times and whilst the food is generally pretty good (the cakes and pastries are some of the best around) - the service is terrible, despite what appears to have been at least one change in custodian over the last few years. Baffling.

Excellent range of tadty food, helpful staff and great atmosphere.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. They prepared a nice fruit pot for my baby that wasn't on the menu. The highchair straps were not very secure though.

Patisserie Joie de Vie which also has branches in Temple Fortune and Ballards Lane has lovely food and atmosphere, but the managers and staff are not very nice, especially in terms of those with invisible disabilities and charity.

I came long time ago and the service was much better. We have to wait a long time to order (in the end I have to order in the counter) and it took 45 minutes to get our brunch. The food was delicious but service needs a looot improvement. Very dissatisfied.

Got a carrot cake to takeaway, it was awfully dryy… not moist as it shoild be. Not coming back

I had the chicken caesar salad and the tiramisu and it was so good. Staff were polite. Restaurant was clean.

The service is friendly. The restaurant is nicely decorated. You feel good. The hot chocolate alone was lukewarm.

After waiting for about 7 minutes for a menu, I finally caught the eye of a male waiter, who then walked up to my table and said"Yes", in the manner of an annoyed teenager, I had planned a meal but with the rude "yes" I asked for two cups of coffee, Now that was my mistake, I failed to mention I didn't want a 1 cm piece of lettuce in the bottom of the cup (Silly me), on leaving as I was paying, I was asked "Was everything ok?" I told her about the lettuce in the cup, she just smiled and asked for £6.40, once again I said there was an issue with the "free salad in the bottom of the cup" she looked me straight in the eye, and said "Yes, six pounds forty" sometimes you know when to give up the fight" So my advice is to say "No" to Patisserie Joie De Vie, unless you're a in favour of a vegetarian coffee!!!

I genuinely recommend Pistachio and raspberry cake!! And apple cake, too. The coffee is not as great. The service is lovely.

I keep going there with the hope they change.. this place is cute, but it has terrible service and the coffee is on of the worse ! A simple latte that cost £3.50 which I threw in the bin straight after!!! Food quality is disgusting! In all of this … it’s overpriced! I mean … No other comments!!!

I came here for lunch with my friend, we had a delicious soup and bread. The staff were friendly.

Charge more than prices marked on item. When queried they claim the marked prices are take away prices. But nowhere, or at least nowhere clearly visible do they show the "eat in prices". Feels like a cheap trick to get a few extra pounds out of us really.

Nice place but coffee can be a bit hit and miss and food is ridiculously overpriced. £7.50 for a ham and cheese croissant, with ham that looked canned? You can find cheaper food in central London.

Nice place. I like to go there for coffee and tea and some chabata bread or cakes, with my child or friend.

Unwelcoming and rude staff. Honestly the only reason we proceeded to stay and order was due to the pastries. The main staff leader, lady with a blonde/brown bob had horrible customer service skills. We entered the shop, she ignored us and other customers, we waiting around 5 minutes at the counter, when she served us she didn't greet or smile at all, looked down at the till and asked us what we wanted. She was very blunt in asking questions, when we (my mum and I) were discussing whether we wanted to eat in or takeaway, she repeated her question as if we weren't talking. Had no manners throughout the service, her attitude stunk. She was also touching the food served to customers with the same gloves that she was touching money and the cash register with, not very hygenic at all. The service was quite slow too, we ordered 2 bakery products and 2 cappuccinos. Towards the end of our stay at the patisserie, a young male staff worker with short black hair had greeted us kindly and acknowledged our presence. "Enjoy your food and have a nice day." Despite the rude customer service, he was nice to us. Food was very nice, too sweet with the blueberry muffin cake, cappuccino was great too. Overall quite costly.

Lovely cakes and pastries but what an awful service. We were standing at the counter for a good 5 minutes without being acknowledged at all despite two members of staff were behind the counter. Not a smile not a greeting. Finally the lady with a bob took our order....so rude and so impatient.....not a thank you not a please. So off putting! I would have walked off but my daughter was keen to try their cakes. Also noticed she was taking orders at the till with disposable gloves on and without changing them she would then touch the food. I wouldn't go back ever again!

I used to love this place but today's visit left me disappointed. I had a pecan tart that was dry, and tea for two was a couple of PG Tips tea bags in a tiny pot for £4. Overall, it felt like prices were not worth what we got. On the plus side, it is dog friendly.

Great food but a friend noticed that the cutlery and crockery coming out of a dishwasher possibly, were being wiped dry with a dirty tea towel

Such a disappointing experience, poor service, food took ages and was wrong and burnt when it finally arrived. This was previously one of our favourite places for coffee, cakes and lunch in Barnet. The cafe was quiet but I had to go over and ask if the waiter could take our order. We ordered two salads, one with grilled salmon as an additional item. Our juices came shortly after and we expected to wait for a bit for our food as usual. Two groups of people arrived after us and their food came promptly. Ours was still nowhere to be seen. After 15-20 minutes I asked after our order and was told it would be a few more minutes as it was ‘complicated’ and would take extra time. (If the cafe had been busy at this point I would have understood more but it was very quiet.) A few minutes later I asked again, a different man, and was told the food was coming. When my daughter’s chicken Caesar salad finally arrived, several more minutes later, instead of croutons it had burnt toast, and there were olives even though she clearly asked for no olives. My salad arrived and was really underwhelming (small and very very oily) and there was no pesto as the menu had suggested. I went to the kitchen hatch direct and asked for the missing pesto and the man gave me a small dish of green oil. I asked a few more times and another chef pointed to the fridge and eventually I was given the pesto. A few minutes later the waiter brought over a plate with some rocket and avo, acknowledging the salad he had brought was sub standard. There were 6 members of staff working in the cafe and they were behaving very unprofessionally, laughing and joking with one another as if they were on a night out, not working! (The exception was the female of staff.) As a customer I felt invisible and ignored and therefore did not enjoy my lunch, which was £35 for the two of us. What should have been a treat lunch out turned into a really stressful time where I felt like I was treated very badly by staff. I definitely won’t be returning which is very sad as we used to be regulars.

It's an amazing brunch spot on the high street! I highly recommend it and the staff are very friendly. My personal favourite is the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and the dressing on the salad is excellent. The coffee and homemade smoothies are delicious aswell.

Terrible service, not asked if everything was ok, I told the guy behind counter that the cucumber was partially frozen in my bagel he shrugged his shoulders ,will not be going in here again!

Will not be going again, arrived and asked for table for 2, was told to take a seat. No me yes we’re given and she was eating her own food at the counter. When she finished eating she came over so went to place an order and was told sorry kitchen is closed 🤨. Was confused why we were told to take a seat if this was the case .

Evidence of covid social distancing still evident in partially worn yellow and black tape on the floor. It almost feels retro now we have forgotten about the lurgies! We devoured a delightful raspberry and pistachio almond tart. The moist, soft fruitiness of the raspberries played well against the almond base, which had bite on the outside and was soft on the inside. The chopped pistachios gave a third dimension and a bonus was that it was frosted lightly in icing sugar. Did you know teddy bears adore icing sugar! Staff is friendly with the woman wanting to hold me and a man speaking with me. *Update July 2023* Here again yesterday and had the apricot crumble. Yummy but it could of done with a touch more apricot at the bottom but was was, was succulent. I was wondering if there was liquidised apricot in the crumble itself as it had a reasonable fruity sweet moistness.

Delicious 😋. Have been here quite a few times now for coffee with a friend. Have had the patisseries and also the breakfast, all yum. The interior is comfortable, and there are many places to sit. The window looks amazing, and it's hard to choose what you'd like. The scrambled eggs on wholemeal were so yummy, just the way I like it made. My friend had a smoked salmon that she also enjoyed. I should have taken a picture of breakfast, but I had scoffed it all before I thought about it 😄 The staff are polite and our waiter made a perfect recommendation for my friend. Always a great experience, so we'll definitely be going again.

Beautiful shop Beautiful food Friendly staff! I get my car serviced in Barnet once a year and while I wait, I always ensure I visit this shop! Best coffee around barnet and their bakery is the BEST! Will be getting my annual car serviced next week and can't wait to visit here again

Cappuccino is stellar (although a bit too cold). Service was not great (eg 1. no menu given so after 10 Min took it from another table, 2. Nobody asked how the food was, 3. Item on menu wasn’t available that I ordered (grilled salmon became chicken) and 4. Broccoli was over cooked for my liking and there was almost no spinach in the dish and 5. Caesar sad was drenched in sauce: pls offer the sauce in a separate container so people can dose it themselves ). Slightly disappointing but might give this place a second chance in the future.

Lovely welcoming cafe, with a great cup of coffee - the cakes also look delicious.

Fabulously retro French in style with a convincing selection of patisseries, bread and hot food with the darkest roast to be found locally; enough to pretend you are en Francaise enjoying an “expresso” rather than an espresso, particularly if you can block out the din of English conversations. Furthering your delusion, most of the team speak French if you feel the need to practice your skills while you enjoy a drink, cake or more.

I read all the good reviews and maybe we just chose a wrong day to come here for the first time... The cafe looks really nice and we originally wanted to have brunch. They took our order for coffee, it took ages- I tried to make contact with the staff, they finally saw me (they were not busy, they were on their phones or chatting among themselves) and the reaction was a quite rude gesture meaning "it's coming". They never came back to the table to actually ask if we want food. Ordered an orange juice at the same time as the coffee which also never came. We went away and ate somewhere else. The 2 stars are for the quality of the coffee. With so much choice and competition, don't waste your time... Can't comment on the quality of the food as we obviously couldn't order any - it looked delicious though! 😏

Went there today and ordered two coffees a chocolate gateau and a salmon quiche. Coffees and dessert were nice. The quiche was microwaved to be reheated which made the pastry chewy and wasn't not nice at all. I explained this to the waitress and she took it back but then I was still charged for it and I had only taken one bite. Very poor customer service with regards to that.

We discovered a charming local coffee shop/restaurant on a Sunday drive to Barnet high street, seeking a change from the usual coffee chains and hoping to support a small business. The front window of the restaurant was attractive, featuring a delicious array of pastries and sandwiches that immediately caught our eye. The large windows allowed plenty of natural light to flood the space, and the rustic decor added to the welcoming atmosphere. On a quiet Sunday morning, there were many available tables, though the restaurant did get busier as we enjoyed our breakfast. The interior was spacious and warm, but the only drawback was the harsh acoustics that made every sound echo throughout the space. However, the absence of background music made for a pleasant environment. The menu offered an excellent selection of breakfast and brunch items, including traditional breakfast fare, shakshuka, various paninis and sandwiches, and a tempting array of sweet treats. The prices were somewhat high, which may deter some customers. The service was efficient and friendly, and all requests were quickly taken care of. Although we had initially only planned on getting coffee, we couldn't resist trying a panini and almond croissant, both of which were fresh and delicious. Overall, we had a positive experience and would definitely recommend this lovely local coffee shop/restaurant. Next visits I hope to sample the crepe offering.

Delightful cafe on the main shopping street in Barnet. Very reasonably priced delicious and well presented food. Large selection of beautiful cakes and pastries. Lovely friendly but unobtrusive staff. Definitely worth a visit

Great little cafe. We only popped in briefly for a hot drink and afternoon treat whilst passing through Barnet. The coffee was good and my son said his hot chocolate was really nice. There was a great selection of cakes and pastries and the menu says they do all day breakfast and other food. Looking around at what other people were eating, it all looked tasty. Not the cheapest food and drink, but it was good value.

The most comfortable welcome a a rainy day.. I will return

Ive been seeing and passing this place whenever we go to high street. At last, we tried. It was a really nice place, good ambiance, exceptional service, courteous personnel and the food superb! And they serve Halal viands! We now keep coming back!

Sat for half an hour being ignored by the staff and then got up and left. It wasn't even busy, and people who came in after us got served. Not sure what the problem was...

What a nice restaurant. Menu is really good, fresh food and healthy. Drinks, with fresh healthy options and to be fair best coffee in the high street. Staff was fantastic, friendly and attentive. Can get busy so be patient. Recommend

Fabulous cakes for a treat nicely packaged in a box, plus a super hot takeaway coffee. Great quality and nice ladies serving. Lost a star as felt at £10+ on the expensive side. Will visit again though!

I found a foreign body in my cheesecake, which they replaced, last month they over charged for a second cake, when I only had one, when I checked the bill it still was over, they had charge for a cappuccino when I had a Americano, never again.

We only had coffee and the Opera cake based on recommendation from a friend. Both were nice. Service very friendly and attentive.

We have been meaning to try this place for a while and finally we did! Great looking place, has a nice feel to it, very welcoming. The guys there were very welcoming and inviting and the treats on show were very tempting . They have a vast amount of patisseries where our friend talked us through them all. They have smoothies, milkshakes, I had a banana and it was amazing 😁 along with a carrot cake and my friend had a chicken panini, but it wasn't processed chicken either ! Great quality and they have a great choice ,you probably need to see the menu. Great service with a smile and a choice to suit everyone. We will be visiting again 100% thanks guys 👍

Awful had poached eggs on rye bread tiny piece of bread and poached eggs done in an egg poacher. Plus coffee £8. 50.

Good overall, but hit or miss. Service can be slow at times (from seating to having order taken). The food is good most times though not amazing, with the odd miss. E.g. poached eggs being served as hard eggs.
