Pata Negra in Bristol, City of

A great restaurant where the food is amazing, service is wonderful, with a lovely atmosphere. The pork rib starters were particularly delicious. We had a table of 13 people and chose the £28 per head set menu. The food was great quality, although not plentiful and hence the slightly lower score for VFM. Despite that - I will return to try some things outside of the set menu - although the ribs will be ordered!

The food is very good but I would say overall this restaurant is quite overpriced. The lunch menu seems like a good deal beforehand, but then the drinks are quite expensive (£6.60 for a can cider) and a 12.50% is added to the final bill as service charge, which was not disclosed before handling out the bill and I ended up paying without realising. I am not sure why I have to pay 12.50% extra for having the food delivered to the table, when the waiter did not even check if everything was ok afterwards. I would think this is basic service and would not have to pay extra for it. To sum up, even I really enjoy the food and atmosphere, I would not be coming back, it all felt like a rip-off and the service was not great.

We booked through first table to get an early pre show discount booking. You book for 5pm which gives you plenty of time to enjoy dinner and a few drinks before heading over to the hippodrome which is just a few minutes walk away. You get 50% off your food bill which makes it amazing value. Really great food, lovely indoor and outdoor seating and fab drinkies and really good service. Our offer made it amazing value. I ordered the pork ramen after not having the boa bun in. Maybe the biggest regret of my life? For 15£ I had some very weird tasting noodles which just seemed off which I find difficult because it's noodles and can't wrap my head around how you can do them wrong. We was sat at the table for 15mins with half eaten food away from us and no one came over the take it away and Christ I felt sick. Luckily we got the dish free but wouldn't recommend. Additionally the broth was cold :)

Fantastic place found in Bristol. Food was absolutely lovely and very well priced. The one thing I will say is please get an air con or open a window. Many people were a little upset due to the heat of the place.

Wow! Amazing food and such a cool, quirky vibe! Can highly recommend the pork Dan Dan noodles, curry fries and tonkotsu Ramen. I can’t wait to go back and try the Korean chicken burger, it looks unreal!

Absolutely amazing food - slightly on the pricey side but you do get what you pay for! Excellent variety of dishes and well worth a visit if you like your Asian food

Good food, very poorly managed. We were surrounded in staff who were more interested in their mobile phones and each other than serving their biggest table. Sorry not to be positive, nice enough people but zero management or leadership as far as I could see….

What a brilliant place. Amazing service from start to finish. Funky decor. The food was absolutely brilliant! Loved the gyoza and the pork Dan Dan noodles. It's the best food I have ever eaten!!! It tasted delicious, and I would highly recommend this venue to anyone. Cannot wait to return :-) Also we had a nice chilled sauvignon blanc which was reasonably priced!

So disappointed. We came here a week ago for my wife’s birthday and it was less than average. The tables were dirty, the place was more like a student bar than a restaurant. The portions were tiny and the food nothing special and the overall bill was extortionate for the average food and overall disappointing experience. The website and Instagram page make the place look a hundred times better than it is which I’m guessing is how they get people through the door! I spent the whole time staring at Poh over the road wishing I had booked there :(

Visited this restaurant while visiting Bristol. We have nothing as adventurous as Korean food where we live so we thought we would give it a try. We didn't have a booking and the restaurant was fairly busy but we were shown straight to a table by a lovely waitress. I suspect, based on customers that evening we (in our 50's) are older than the usual customer base- most others were in their 20's. We did wait quite a while for our food, but when it arrived it was really tasty. The portion size wasnt overly generous, but as we had had a big lunch that day they were perfect for what we wanted. It was quite pricey for both food and drink , which surprised me as it had quite a student vibe Overall good food and service- something different for us and if there was a rating in between Average and Very Good (ie Good) i would place it there.

For a restaurant that was pretty empty (only 3 tables at 5:30 on a Wednesday) the service was poor. Had to get the barman’s attention to get an order in as after 10-15 mins no one had even taken a drinks order. He took our food and drink order. Food came out quickly and was hot and honestly so lovely! We cleared our own plates to the side and a waitress came to collect them half of them. We asked to order a few more dishes, she said she would clear and come back. She never came back and never cleared the rest of the plates so we had to ask again. All in all the waiting staff were lazy and would rather just have a chat. Considering the street food/tapas relaxed style of dining regardless of table size there is a service charge automatically added which is discretionary, it is wasn’t food my kind friend I wouldn’t have paid it as I think the service was poor. Such a shame for the people to let the food down.

Went here for dinner and the food was amazing but after seeing the chef come out of the kitchen and talk to his friend whilst rolling some tobacco up infront of me was quite disgusting. Service was also very average to say there were less than a handful of tables in the restaurant.

Good for larger groups...maybe not for that intimate first date!! A good selection of tapas, including for vegetarian and vegan diners. A reasonable selection of drinks...but could do with a greater selection of sherry to match the tapas. Overall, pretty decent and worth a visit.

In truth it’s difficult to quite put my finger on what I didn’t like but just not quite the full tapas experience. Relatively limited menu and I have truly never been to a tapas restaurant that doesn’t have balsamic vinegar for bread. Service was ok. Don’t get me wrong what we had was quite nice but I am struggling to be any more effusive about this place.

Visited here tonight for tapas. Had the shared tapas £25 each and bottle of house wine £22. Wine just ok. Food, ummm quite bland, read came with oil so asked for balsamic, along came a jug of malt vinegar. The garlic prawn was nice as was the lamb chop. Everything else was just bland, no flavour. £40 a head I could have had a good steak meal with wine. Safely say won’t be recommending or returning.

We visited for dinner and were extremely disappointed by the quality of tapas served.. selection of cured meats, potatoes with a dash of some kind of garlic sauce and the most awful croquettes filled with gristle.

We stumbled upon Pata Negra on a cold evening and decided to give it a try. Wonderful selection of tapas at good prices. The atmosphere is warm and the staff was very friendly. Loved everything we tried.

Tapas before watching the Lion King and initial feeling on seeing the menu I was concerned that there was not enough choice and there wouldn’t be enough food. I was proved wrong and am happy to say that the food was lovely. The charcuterie was stunning as was the cheese board. The best for me was the lamb chops and the croquettes but all the food was very good. Service was excellent and very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Will go back

Nice inside, Staff ok, although the ‘chefs’(I use the term very loosely) seemed more interested in chatting to a friend sitting at the bar, but the size of the portions is shocking(I had to go and get more food down on the harbour and I’m slim)and not much to say other than very poor food, grilled broccoli is just that covered after cooking with raw garlic in oil, beef skewers were heavily salted, tiny and sooo chewy and then 2 prawns for 7 quid(just seemed like no pride in what they’ve doing, lazy)Ordered three dishes and a small beer came to over £25. Wished i’d Of gone somewhere else, as not like there isn’t a lot of choice in the area.

Our first visit to the Pata Negra. The variety of food is exceptional, it was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. The atmosphere and decor are casual and relaxing, with lovely distressed touches. Finally, our server, John Dean was superb...thanks!

Hard to understand exactly what the menu item actually are and we asked the waiter what things were but were still

We stayed near Pata Negra, and after walking by a few times, we decided to pop in. On the surface, it looks great and the dishes on the menu hint at proper authentic tapas. We ordered a fish/veggie selection and for the prices paid, we were massively disappointed. Many of the dishes were very basic, and entailed nothing more than arranging stuff on a plate. For example, we had the anchovies which were lovely but we've have experienced something of a similar quality purchased from a supermarket - for a fraction of the price and for a larger quantity. The flavours for most other dishes also didn't work for us and were just mediocre than anything special.

We went for the prawns, vegetables and manchego, calamari, spinach and chickpeas and octopus ( which was so good we had to get it twice)! The food was all very fresh and flavour were divine! Texture of all the seafood dishes were on point and it all came within a Good time. The white wine was delicious and the man serving us was friendly gave honest and good recommendations! In Putney looking for tapas ? Look no further!

The food here is really good and every dish I have had has been exquisite, however it is very expensive for what it is. The staff are friendly but often rushed off their feet so service can be slow in terms of ordering and getting the bill but the food comes very quickly. A good option if you are in the area.

Before that I knew a bit of Spanish cuisine. And I say 100% that this place reflects it perfectly. A real masterpiece. Great products and tasty dishes. Nothing more nothing less. We will definitely be back. 10/10

Llamamos aquí a las nueve de la noche y el lugar estaba bastante lleno, pero obtuvimos un gran asiento en el bar. Acabo de pedir jamón, queso, pan y un buen vaso de rojo. Todo fue excelente. La camarera que nos cuidó fue amable, eficiente y eficiente. Amamos España, es vino y es cocina y es gente. Este lugar lo tiene justo.

Visited with business colleagues while staying in Bristol. Great atmosphere, friendly welcome and a good wine list too. It's not a huge menu but the food is really good and packed full of flavour! All fresh and very tasty. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bit pricey but then I guess the standard of food justifies it. Will visit again for sure!

The restaurant has a very authentic atmosphere. However, that is about it. The food was overpriced and re-heated from the day before whilst the service wasn't much better. The squid we ordered was lukewarm, flavourless and tiny. Zero authenticity. The manager was obnoxious and the waitress was very poor. Management wasn't even interested in the fact we were not happy with the quality of the food. For the price that is charged, I would recommend anywhere else than Pata Negra. The worst meal I have eaten in the 2 years I have lived in Bristol.

As many other reviews point out this is not cheap but the food and service is fine. Tapas should be simple but good quality and Bellota ham is good and I didn't mind paying £15 for this. But overall another £30 for a lump of cheese two slices of bread with tomato pulp and two glasses of wine is a bit steep.

I’ve had much better tapas in Bristol. I think this is overpriced for the quality of the food. It was all just ‘ok’ and for the price I’d want at least one of the dishes to stand out.

Lovely position in this busy central of Bristol Corn Street with lots going on. Friendly efficient staff. Plenty of wines to choose but our first choice was off the nmenu so we were offered another at same price. We chose a different one which was excellent.
