Stopped in here on Sunday to pick up some treats and coffee. The bread (sourdough loaf in my case) was phenomenal. We also got a tremendous pecan sticky bun (massive) and a chocolate and almond croissant plait thing that was amazing. The coffee was also very good. However, the bread and pastries are definitely not cheap (worth it though) and the coffee making was so amazingly slow I nearly cancelled the order. Despite the negatives, it's great.

Good service from the friendly front of house person and easy ordering system with the distancing rules met. Breakfast was top quality produce, piping hot and perfectly cooked. Cakes look amazing to! Will be back to try their jam and frangipane croissants.

Had lunch here, having just got a table before they were all taken. Our sandwiches were very fresh and tasty, and the choice of hot and cold drinks was excellent with some interesting possibilities. Service was generally good though we were kept waiting for well over 5 minutes before our order was taken. This, and the rather expensive prices, mean I'm giving it 4 rather than 5 stars, but it still stands out a mile from the boring chains.

Almost always fabulous tasty food. Dishes change weekly, and locally sourced ingredients make for an interesting menu as well as the welcome now usual healthy items on sourdough toast. The staff are friendly as heck and the kitchen staff work magic in small work areas. Great atmosphere, and music is never intrusive. Only negative things I can think of is the avocado can be over salted sometimes and their bathroom needs a right old freshen up.

Lots of friends have been recommending this local cafe on one of Bristol’s most popular high streets for some time. This week I finally had brunch there. From the outside you wouldn’t think it is particularly special but the food and the coffee are excellent. There is no shortage of savoury and sweet options and both are equally good. I had mushrooms on sourdough toast. Need to find an excuse to return to try the pecan buns which looked fantastic. Bakers and Co will be one of my go to places in this part of Bristol. MORE AT TripAdvisor

I have been to this cafe several times, and always really enjoyed the food - raved about it to friends, even. Today I went with a party of 4. It was pretty busy (to be expected on a Saturday), and we were told we would need to wait for a table, and there were three tables of 2 in front of us. Fair enough, especially as we could see several tables preparing to leave. Two tables for four vacated almost immediately. Given the queue also behind us, I could be forgiven, I think, for expecting that some of these couples might be asked if they were willing to share. But no. Each couple took one of the tables. I was told that the policy was to allocate tables according to who arrived first, not to size of party, because they didn’t want people to have to share and feel ‘cramped’. Ok... I accepted this, but still thought it wasn’t exactly clever management, given that the queue of people meant that the diners at the front were precisely cramped because we were standing on top of them. Then two seats at the bar became free, and the final of the three couples were given the seats. Quite right, of course. A few minutes later, a table for four became free. Hurrah, our turn! But no. The third couple, now happily seated at the bar, were asked if they would like to move to the table for four!! When I protested, I was told that this couple had arrived before us - and it did not matter how calmly and clearly I pointed out that they had already been seated confortably at the bar, and asked why would they be moved so as to take up a space for four, meaning that we had to continue to wait and the couple who arrived AFTER us would now sit down before us (taking the two seats at the bar), the waitress could not be moved, and neither could the manager. So much for ‘first come, first served’ - this policy turned out to be utterly inconsistent, and neither member of staff seemed to able to grasp this. It really was quite ridiculous and spoiled my impression of this place, which had been a real favourite until today. Furthermore, when you are offered constructive feedback about the running of your establishment by a customer, especially when the logic of their disgruntlement is perfectly clear, it is good practice to accept it, not argue about it. I could actually have forgiven the ‘first-to-arrive’ policy, however uneconomical it is - but the moment where they moved two people from their table-for-two to a table-for-four to make them ‘more comfortable’ while a queue of people was snaking out of the door was frankly a joke. By all means offer bigger tables to smaller parties when it is quiet. When it is busy, you simply don’t have the luxury to do that without needlessly upsetting waiting customers. It is a shame, because the food is actually good.

Having seen this venue listed in the top 10 brunch spots in Bristol we thought we'd give it a try. The place is certainly popular, which unfortunately translated into somewhat chaotic service. We were 'invited' to a 15/20 min wait outside for a table, during which we were offered drinks in paper cups. I didn't get the milk I had ordered with my Americano, but on telling the waitress this she simply walked away never to return!! When we finally got in, the table was a little sticky and not particularly comfortable, and the popularity of the venue makes it quite noisy. Another wait ensued before we could order from the limited menu but in fairness the food arrived relatively quickly. It was tasty and quirky but clearly not to everyone's tastes - my 17yr old left half of his but my wife and I thought ours (I had the main breakfast, she had the smashed avocado) were delicious. It's subjective but I felt that the prices were higher than the food justified, and I can't understand how a side order of, say, black pudding, can be priced at £3.00 which is almost 1/3 of the cost of the entire dish (£10 something?).The owners of this establishment clearly have a large and regular local clientele who are extremely happy with the set-up. Having travelled 5 miles to get there (we took a detour and stopped off on our way to a function in the centre of the city) I didn't think it was worth the trip.

So this is my first time visiting and one of my first proper long visits to Bristol. Came here with the other half as she'd been here numerous times before and recommended it highly.Upon entry you're welcomed with a smile by the many staff in and around the front of house either making coffees, bread, prepping food or serving customers. As you enter there's fresh produce (avocados, sourdough, general fruit and veg) right by the entrance. It has a nice vibe and atmosphere. Very homely and doesn't have that try-too-hard-to-be-hipster decor of wood shavings on the floor, broken bare brick walls, random pipes hanging from the ceilings and reclaimed bargain basement wonky furnishings. We were seated instantly and given menus. We ordered two americanos and a beetroot smoothie which came almost instantly. The coffee here is a grower, thought it was pretty standard espresso roast but actually had a very nice cereal nutty note to it. Full bodied and moreish! As we were starving we ordered the banana bread to start. Omg. NOT NORMAL! This was by far the highlight! Like seriously FREAKIN FABULOUS. Texture, taste, the way it's served warm and the butter melts. It's honestly the best banana bread I've had. A MUST! Would return time and time again just for the banana bread. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros which is a black beans, fried eggs, tortilla and salsa. Must say I really enjoyed this!! Was very good, but highly recommend you get a side order of chorizo as it compliments the plate very well. The other half ordered the smashed avocados on toast. These were the bomb! Presentation on point and I had a little try and must say did have a bit of food envy here. Very very good!! Also got a side of the fried potatoes with aioli. AVOID! Only disappointing part of the meal. The aioli was bland and didn't have enough garlic to it; seriously BLAND! And the potatoes were just halved new potatoes with a slight olive oil taste. No real seasoning to it. Would have been better if they'd served them more like Patatas Bravas with a spicy tomato sauce and a better aioli. As a sort of dessert... although had it ordered with our mains (we have BIG appetites) we got the Morning Toast with peaches. Really nice. Would have been better with caramelised bananas instead of peaches but definitely hit the spot. Really enjoyed it but wouldn't get it again unless they started doing with bananas. Service was very attentive and quick. No complaints at all. Also there's free water which you can help yourself to mid way down the shop.Toilets were clean and had Bayliss and Harding Liquid Soap and Hand Moisturiser which is a nice touch. I had a rather shabby experience there today. Had a rather dry and overcooked and one of the most expensive sausages I have ever had -£3; two overcooked poached eggs and a small portion of over priced mushrooms again £3, a portion of sour dough cost £2 and jam £1 - for this underwhelming and over priced experience we had to wait about 40 minutes and by then the restaurant was fairly empty. I complained about the overcooked poached egg and was offered a replacement, but it would have taken too long and to drive home. Also complained about charging £3 for a single sausage, the waitress was pretty offhand size of portion Staff were a bit 'up their ...! And was given a seriously dirty look for not leaving a tip, why because they didn't deserve it. I have had brunch in quite a few places in London which are better food and service and many cheaper. I would like to think it is a victim of its own success but sadly believe it is an 'emperors new clothes' situation ie. everybody says it's brilliant and few prepared to comment otherwise which i sad because with humility things might improve; with the attitude they currently have today it will go downhill. New but looks like it has been there forever. I walked past here a couple of weeks ago and I am sure it wasn't there then. Maybe it's one of those shops that travel through space and time? Distressed wood tables, benches, bar and fittings. Shop front with long corridor going back to the loo. Fittings new but already a bit battered. Three wooden benches out on the pavement. Decent espresso but quite pricy at £2. Bacon roll £3.50 - on the kids menu? Mini Breakfast £5. Full breakfast £11 - includes all manner of exotic ingredients like fried duck egg , sage and allspice sausage, and morcilla. I had to google that - it's Spanish black pudding. Smiley attentive service. More staff than customers first thing in the morning, but will probably pick up later. They sell cocktails which seems an odd mix. Looks like they bake their own bread. Big bags of flour on the floor, loaves cooling on racks. If you are bringing a rugrat in a pram it's a bit difficult to get in the door because of the flour, and then there is nowhere to put the pram without clogging up the whole place. Ditto wheelchair users.

Had a fantastic brunch cooked right in front of our very eyes! Lovely little bright cafe with super friendly staff and an amazing choice of meals and ingredients. Excellent coffee too. Everything is made from scratch, including their own sourdough bread!

After several visits I finally had lunch here, it was amazing1 The romanesco, avocado barley mash with perfectly boiled golden eggs was tasty, sensible and so healthy! Drinks were beautiful & delicious. With an infant and child in tow we were made very welcome for an unbooked lunch. Their sourdough bread was popular too. All sorts of people eat here which makes it interesting. I'll definitely be back, perhaps for the brunch til 4!

I decided to give it another go after a few disastrous experiences at Bakers and co in 2016. The stuff is rude and who i think is the manager, has very poor knowledge on how to treat clients. 0/10

Before seeing any food being served, just reading the menu alone made me salivate. Whilst deciding on what to eat for breakfast, we ordered some drinks to wake us up; two fresh orange juices, an americano and a dirty chai. The OJ was fresh, the coffee wasn't too tangy and the chai wasn't too sweet, just right. As for food, I went for the soft boiled egg on a bed of romanesco, avocado and buckwheat. My partner chose the Baker's breakfast with a fried duck egg, bacon, fennel sausage, morcilla and pinto beans on sourdough toast. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the vegetables were fresh and the morcilla was especially incredible. Throughout the service the staff were lovely and attentive. So far, this is the best brunch I've had in Bristol.

We've been here for breakfast three times now, and have been very satisfied on every occasion. This place is always busy, but the staff are friendly and helpful and not hassled. The menu is relatively small, but everything that we have tried has been tasty. The baked eggs (which seem to come and go off the menu depending on the week) are amazing. And this cafe makes a lovely cafe cortado, which you don't see on many menus. Try one. The bread that you can buy to take home is also recommended.

We visited Bakers & Co on a couple of occasions now. The first one was a Sunday late morning, which was absolutely chaotic and the second one was an early Saturday morning, which was far more civilised! The staff are always friendly, smiling and with a great dress sense! One waitress was wearing a t-shirt with a naked Quagmire...I found that hilarious! The decor is basic and one gets a feel of something missing from the whole equation! The space is limited and in certain instances it can get packed, but the staff will always be there to regulate the situation! Now, onto the more important matters, the drink and food! On both occasions, we had coffees and I had a flat white, which was quite smooth and not too strong. I quite liked it and it was presented nicely too!Food-wise, we had the baker's eggs and they were absolutely magnificent! The mushrooms used in the dish gave it a very nice taste and texture, whilst the cheese they used stole the performance for me...it must have been manchego cheese or something similar, but it binded all the ingredients together nicely and did not allow me to think anything negative in relation to the lack of meat from the breakfast dish!Overall, the place is well worth a visit, but try to avoid busy days!

So we went for the crushed avocado with lime coriander an poached egg, so glad we did it was very good but felt a little something was missing. But we really did enjoy it the restaurant was clean an staff were efficient. We will return.

Tasty food, decent portions and a good price. Staff were friendly. Be aware that it is very cramped so there is not much room for the staff to move around in, so it all seemed quite hectic. There's no room for pushchairs and I think wheelchair users would find it a struggle.

I had been wanting to go for brunch at Bakers & Co for about a year but never got round to it so I was extremely excited when the opportunity arose. We arrived at midday, and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The food lived up to expectations, we all enjoyed our various brunchy delights. I had avocado, poached egg, and bacon on sourdough bread, which was very tasty. Could have done with a tiny bit more seasoning but that'd be my only criticism. It was great being able to see the open kitchen working too!

My favourite spot in Bristol for brunch. Reasonably priced for excellent food!! The menu changes regularly depending on what's in season, and they get a lot of their produce sourced locally.

This place comes highly recommended by lots of people so me and partner visited recently twice in a week by chance with high expectations.First visit was just for coffee and cake, tried the toasted banana bread and a flat white. The coffee was well made although I'm not a massive fan of their personal blend. They forgot my cake though and after a long wait and the same waitress visiting our table to clear other plates I asked for it. It had clearly been forgotten but these things happen.Second visit was for breakfast, all the food was delicious, tried the french toast with baked apple which was a very generous portion. However my partner tried to order another coffee when the food arrived and this never appeared. When the plates got cleared we both ordered another coffee and the waitress made no mention of the previous one so had clearly never put it through the till and had completely forgotten. Although the food is excellent and it's a really nice place to have coffee/ breakfast I can't help but feel that it's resting on it's laurels a bit. We visited at times when it wasn't very busy (week day morning and afternoon) so it just feels like with a big reputation the service should be a bit more on the ball especially during these times and although the service was nice it definitely let the visits down for me.Hopefully on the next visit the expectation will meet the reputation.

Visited this spot a couple of times. Extract coffee is good. The layout is quite compact with an open plan kitchen. There are a lot of diverse food options here, I've had a full breakfast for £11 which I thought was very pricey. Last visit I had avocado and scrambled eggs. Both times food was pretty good. It's a busy place and a good location. I'm not local and would I hurry back... probably not.

We came here for brunch last Saturday after reading some recommendations. The place looked really nice and it was quite busy, so we thought it would be quite a good place for a late breakfast. We did not have to wait much for a table and the waitress kindly warned us on the wait to be served due to how busy they were. We were not in a hurry so we decided to wait having some smoothies. My first disappointment came after seeing the small size of the smoothies (especially disappointing considering that they are not precisely cheap). Once the food arrived, my full english breakfast was ok, but that is all. The egg was slightly overcooked and the bacon was almost cold. It was not a bad breakfast, but way below of what I was expecting.

Gloucester Road has so many places to go for brunch but Bakers and Co. is by far the best. If you have to queue for a table it is well worth the wait.I can also highly recommend after tea or coffee.

dropped in on spec to see what the breakfast was like following a recommendation from a friend. Quite a small space and extremely crowded on the day that I visited. Took ages to get a table and the same to get served but the staff were very nice at all times. They had a varied menu and I had avacado on toast with sausage's which I have to say was delicious. Would say give it a miss if its crowded unless you dont mind waiting.

I've been there 5 times since they opened. The food is ok, decors are nice. Definitely a cool spot judging by the appearances.. However everytime I've been there I experienced the same poor service over and over. Rude stuff, no smiles, they brought my coffee and food and just dropped it on the table. I asked for a glass of water and the waitress told me to help myself at the counter, where they have water jugs, even though the place was half empty. Definitely won't be back.

I love the piles of produce at the door of Bakers and the slightly "let's do the show right here!" feel of the place. It's astonishing that such exquisite dishes can come out of that tiny kitchen, and the way chefs and waiting staff move as a ballet around the place is all on display to the clientele. Personally I prefer it for lunch rather than supper; but that's just me. I like the simplicity of the dishes on offer. Gorgeous juices too - the beetroot apple and ginger is fabulous.

We first popped in to bakers and co a couple of years ago on a recommendation from a work colleague and from day one we were hooked! So refreshing to have somewhere local that produces really fresh, organic quality food. Good size portions, but not cheap and greasy. The staff are brilliant and always on hand to recommend a meal if they've changed the menu (which is often as they like to keep things interesting!). Does get very busy, so we are often ready for a queue but the coffee and the cinnamon morning toast is always worth the wait. We now visit monthly, and always bring family for coffee and cake when they come to stay - it's not rare for us to stay so long we end up having two meals!

Amazing spot for a date or friends night, we were kindly taken care by the staff, even with a big bday being celebrated at the same time in the other room. Lovely food that mix different flavours and also almost every dish was gluten free. The interior is cozy and different from any others that we’ve been, totally recommended!!
