Nice pub for a friday afternoon pint in the covered back yard. Apart from not doing decent cider ( why do most pubs in Bristol not do decent cider? C'mon it's what we're famous for! Asspalls is not decent and its not even from the west country) it reminded me of a pub i used to know called The Robin Hood?? Friendly staff and nice chilled vibe. Didn't eat anything so thats good too, a pub where you can just have a pint.

Not all pubs are born equal. Some have the benefit of a great location, some *are* the location, and others have that intangible quality—a vibe that goes beyond the usual. The Grace, perched confidently on Gloucester Road, is born better. It’s not just the alchemy of its positioning or the weathered brickwork. It’s the curious blend of clientele, décor, and atmosphere that creates the sort of Sunday afternoon experience you didn’t know you needed. People ebb and flow with a brisk regularity, giving the place an energy that feels as though something is always happening, yet you’re never in a rush to see what it is. The staff? They’ve mastered that fine balance of attentive without hovering, casual yet competent. You feel like they’ve got it all under control—even if you’re slightly convinced they’re having more fun than you. And let’s talk about the Guinness. It’s *excellent*—that creamy, velvety elixir that too many pubs neglect. But not here. Oh no. It’s properly poured, properly cold, and exactly as it should be. That’s not something you overlook. We didn’t come to eat, which is something I now regret. The food looked and smelled as if it had been crafted to tease every one of my senses without me ever lifting a fork. Plates wafted by with dishes that seemed to know their place—neither trying too hard nor playing it too safe. It all just… worked. There are dogs, of course. There’s laughter, the kind that feels contagious but isn’t too loud to be irritating. There are energetic people, the ones who look like they’ve just come from a run, and others who seem like they’ve never run a day in their lives, and both sets coexist perfectly. Bravo, The Grace. Even if it’s not on your beaten track, go. It’ll restore your faith in what a pub *should* be.

I want to take a bit of time to single The Grace out as a really fantastic, welcoming place. My family has complex allergies and we arrived tired and hungry yesterday for lunch without a prior booking. The team could not have been more welcoming, nor more accommodating. A member of the front-of-house team talked us through the food options, listened to our needs and explained how they would handle things. The result was one of the best Sunday lunches we've ever had - really outstanding food, great drinks, lovely atmosphere and a real sense of confidence and assurance that we were in good hands. We'll definitely be going back and if you're in the area, I can't recommend it highly enough!

Popped in here the other day just for a quick drink to unwind. Was really hoping to get my hands on that local gin I’ve been loving lately, but turns out they didn’t have it in stock. Bit of a bummer, but no biggie. The atmosphere of the place was quite nice, not too loud, just right for a chill evening. Service was definitely a highlight - the staff were super friendly and quick. Even though they didn’t have the gin, they recommended a couple of other drinks we might like for next time. We ended up staying longer than planned, just because it was so relaxed and the vibe was good. They had a nice selection of snacks too, which we didn’t try this time but looked tempting. We’ll probably come back to give them a go and who knows, maybe they’ll have that gin by then!

A good sized and long-established pub on the popular Gloucester Road strip, we were booked in for Sunday lunch, and found it was still full to capacity even for our 3:00pm sitting, which created a buzzy, if slightly noisy, atmosphere. I opted for the Pork Belly, with a pig in blanket, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. It was just the one pig in blanket, not the more usual pigs, but then it was also a full size sausage, not the usual miniatures! Whenever I’ve had this before it’s been served as a single, oblong section of meat. Here it was quite long and thin, with bone running down the middle, and to be honest I would really have known it was pork belly, it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. There was some separate crackling, but this had been swamped with gravy, whereas surely that should be kept dry? The potatoes tasted a little stale, as though they had been hanging around for a while, although the accompanying vegetables were very good, being a decent selection and a good amount of flavour to them. We would have had cauliflower cheese on the side, but apparently this was off due to a “technical issue”. Overall, I was a little disappointed with this. It’s a nice pub, and the staff were all friendly and helpful, but I’ve certainly had better Sunday lunches elsewhere.

It’s my fourth encounter with their hostile front of house; hence the review..I’m not one to play the race card, but it has been odd.. So rude it’s palpable. It’s hard not to take it personally as it’s happened time and time again eg; (no food yet they serve food to other people the last time we were there)..it was embarrassing as we had to ask how they got their food as they had no reservation and arrived after us. Service and ambience is great. Food needs to match this! It was a quiet weekday and this was pointed out by the restaurant manager, however, food was average. Mixed grill was ok, luke warm and mackerel overpowers the dish. Lobster thermidor was again ok, lacked flovour. Would definitely return, when kitchen is focused, as loved the overall experience.
