Pascal Bistro - French Restaurant in Bexley

There is no other restaurant that could put Sidcup on the map. More people should travel to Sidcup purely to dine here. As I write this review I fully understand that I potentially make table reservations more difficult in future.

Simple, unpretentious and delicious food; homely flavours. You can bring your own wine; they will even pour it out for you; they won’t charge you a penny! By the quality of service and friendliness, it seems all who work there own the place. Small and cosy place. Great for enjoying downtime with small company. They also sell preserves and cakes. Not cheap - but you get good food. And not having to pay exorbitantly for restaurant wine helps. This was our second time. Highly recommended;

Excellent, we took our own booze, the food was fantastic. Will definitely be going back to this hidden gem.

Great food, great service, well presented, well priced

We arrived with no expectations other than the website pictures and reviews. We were not disappointed. Pascal who owns and runs the restaurant with his family clearly loves what he does, and what he does is excellent food served with polite professionalism. The menu is extensive and supplemented by daily specials from the board. The presentation of the dishes is excellent and the quantity represents great value. I only go to restaurants under duress these days as I am invariably disappointed but I will return here whenever I can.

Went here by off chance on a Wednesday and got a table for 5. It was already quite busy. They fitted us in even though 2 of us were not eating. It was very hospitable and the price was very good. They told us straight away that the restaurant was a BYO and had no licence. Popped over the road and got a decent bottle of wine and a few bottles of beer, which saves you a fortune. Would recommend booking as we were lucky.

My first time last night and I cannot praise this place enough !!! The food was amazing...everything was first class ..we all cleared our plates and finally the tiramisu was epic!!!!

Decent find despite my initial reservations that any establishment with the word 'bistro' in it would struggle to serve a decent full English breakfast. Overall I'm happy to report that I've been proved wrong, although with a couple of caveats. Firstly, what is this policy that restaurants now seem to adopt when serving breakfast where you're either charged for swapping items or as, in the case here, at least according to the menu, you are not permitted to swap at all. As I have an intolerance to eggs I was concerned that I would not be able to exchange them for another item. Once I mentioned this to the waiter however I was permitted to exchange them for a portion of bubble and squeak, although I have to report it did not appear to resemble the dish that I remembered from childhood, it certainly didn't appear to have been fried, with the appearance and texture of mashed potato with some vegetables mixed in. Overall however the quality of the food was more than decent and well worth the £8.50 asking price, although I did feel slightly cheated when I discovered this did not include a cup of tea which was an additional £2, bringing the total bill to £10.50, still decent but not quite the bargain it might have been. Would I return?, yes, although of slight concern was the fact that when we arrived at 10:30, one would assume a fairly busy breakfast time, we were the sole diners. If like me you tend to judge establishments by how busy they are, this is something you may wish to take into account. Obviously I can only comment on how busy it was when we arrived and ate there, it may well be a different story at other times of the day / week.

11/06/24 Went for a Lovely meal @ Pascal Bistro and it didn't disappoint. After a delicious selection from the starter menu we moved on to Main course and my Wife chose Escargot which i said i would never try but did , and it was spiced and peppery and delicious . Myself i chose Chicken Breast with peppercorn sauce on a bed of Veg and it was Amazing . The Prices are a little expensive but i guess that depends on your budget . The staff take care of your every need and the Atmosphere is nice and relaxed . We would 100% recommend this for a relaxed night out with friends or Family and will no doubt be going there again .

Good food, excellent service. Not a chain restaurant so refreshingly different. Reasonable prices, good sized portions and all cooked to order. Nice busy atmosphere with no need for any background music - just the sound of people enjoying themselves.

We visited for the first time for Sunday lunch. Warm welcome in a lovely boutique restaurant. You bring your own alcohol as they do not have a license. They do NOT charge corkage either. Great food and service.

I have heard many good things about this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. Really good menu and authentic French dishes. Shared escargot and beef merguez sausages - both delicious and very authentic. Same experience with the mains- I had rabbit and the sauce and flavour made me think I could be in France. Prawn and sea bass dish was a real wow dish. Creme brulee and and cheese after. Great atmosphere and lovely hosts. Will defo be back soon and keen to share with more people.

Cosy, homely restaurant. BYO alcohol, no corkage. Good food in a typical neighbourhood restaurant, a tad old fashioned but really enjoyable, good portions and nice service. Would definitely return.

We love this place. It is one of the best restaurants in Sidcup and surrounding areas. It produces some of the best food I’ve ever had and you can bring your own booze. The service is excellent. They really can’t do enough for you. Always welcomed and always time for a quick chat.

Lovely and friendly service. Attentive service given throughout and without being over baring, ensuring a really enjoyable experience. The escalopes for starter were nice but could possibly do with a harder/harsher grillI/pan fry for my taste and a garlic and onion sauce to accompany them. For main I went for a classic fillet steak medallion which was on the specials board and was not disappointed, cooked to perfection with a side of a well balanced portion of sauteed mixed vegetables. The whole experience was relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed.

Very good little bistro. Cosy interior with such a lovely touches of french culture. Food was presented very well and tasted delicious! Friendly staff. If you fancy a nice lunch you can try a Chicken chasseur or a Claves liver. All comes in good amount of source with some potatoes and broccoli. Highly recommended!

Lovely little French restaurant we often visit with friends, the 'bring your own booze' policy helps keep the price reasonable at around £50 a head on average. The food is always good, with a tasty menu of traditional French favourites, catering for both the adventurous (Frogs Legs, Snails) and more conventional (Steak, Chicken) palate. Inside the place has a real French feel to it and the staff are polite, friendly and efficient.

This restaurant is incredible. The food is sublime & the staff are wonderful. Best restaurant in the area by far 🇫🇷 👌

Top place. We were in Sidcup for a weekend break and found this little gem. Nice food, good service in a relaxing atmosphere. Was nice to meet the owner also. Remember to bring your own alcohol though. Muscles in white wine sauce was a nice starter. The veal in a mushroom sauce and beef stroganoff was excellent. The brownie cheesecake was good, but the pecan pie was mmmm.

Found by word of mouth. A little bit of rural France in Sidcup, amazing atmosphere, lovely food and reasonably priced in this day an age, service excellent definitely going back.

Four of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last night, the bistro has a lovely relaxed ambiance and the service is excellent. Our food was all fabulous, seafood starters and rabbit dijonnaise and calves liver mains - thank you Pascal and team.

An excellent local bistrot restaurant with a menu ranging from full English breakfast to well known French dishes. The eponymous owner, Pascal, and his brother Kevin are usually present, as is the owners son. English is the Lingua Franca, but the background music is essentially French.

Great, wonderful food, attentive service, lovely ambience, nothing to fault. Desert was incredible. Chicken and steak were impeccable. Charming staff. We will be back.

Great place to eat. As the name suggests, it's French. The food is fantastic and there's plenty of choice. The service is brilliant. You have to take your own alcohol which they look after for you. I thoroughly recommend this place.

Two couples on a Saturday night . Our first time at the restaurant, weren’t sure what to expect . Everything was brilliant , the staff were great , really pleasant atmosphere . Then the food , nice big helpings , cooked and served perfectly . Full marks all round .

Three meals one cleared plate tha other two were too big fantastic meals .beef stroganof to die for.

Refused service because it was 9.20pm on a Saturday evening with just a shake of the head when they shut at 11pm. Wasn't even given the option for a quick meal.

Good food and big portions,friendly and welcoming worth a visit

First time at this restaurant a meal with 2 other friends. From the minute we arrived we were rushed into choosing our meal with the owner saying to hurry up the cook wants to go home! Throughout the meal it felt as if staff were waiting on you to finish they were ushering people out and getting their coats as if they all wanted to all go home. Only advantage was you could take your own alcohol & no corkage fee. Also found desserts quite expensive 3 for £23. Then had to query the bill as wrong items had been put on our bill. We finally left half hour before closing time as we felt they were waiting for us to leave so did not even have time to finish our wine which we took and finished at home. Unfortunately I would not be returning to this restaurant & neither would my friends. Food was mediocre my sauce on the chicken was very bitter, very disappointed.

Ordered Vegetarian breakfast without egg. Most of other restaurants add Hash brown instead of egg but here there are no changes..if no egg still same cost though for less quantity..

We love Chez Pascal and the quality of food, the decor, and the repartee, excellent service. They also offered excellent meals during the lockdowns which saved our sanity. Merci beaucoup, l'équipe!

it isn't licensed and you don't have to pay corkage on the alcohol you take. Good food, quite large portions, good service. It isn't cheap - we paid c£50 p.p. ( we had steak )

In the evening, the bistro serves high quality, rustic French cuisine. Bring your own bottle with no corkage. Highly commendable and will definitely go again.

Quirky bistro serving a variety of delicious meals. Good ambiance and fabulous owner with a great sense of humour. Only minor downside is they have no alcohol licence, but you can bring your own wine, which they will serve for you without corkage charges. Recommended 👍👍

First time I've been here and it was fabulous. I went with 5 friends and we all had a wonderful meal. It's BYO and there's no corkage. The staff were lovely and friendly. Four of us had the seabass special (in photo) which was so lovely. The menu has something for everyone. It was packed too and a great atmosphere.

My partner and I went to this restaurant while staying in Sidcup and expected a lot due to all of the glowing reviews; however, were disappointed. I have to say that the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, which is really the reason for the three stars.The food wasn't bad, but, it wasn't great, just meh. I had the Chicken Basquez, which was quite tasteless and frankly could have made something better and cheaper at home. I just ate the chicken really for the protein, not the taste. Chicken Basquez should be braised with bone in chicken and white wine, this was a boneless piece of chicken that was tough, and the broth/sauce could not have been cooked for long, as there was no flavor. My partner had the special, starter mussels in white wine sauce and the duck with orange sauce. His meal was better than mine; however, was still just basic, not much flavor. I would also like to add that the restaurant's website is sorely in need of updating. The online menu is not accurate and the prices indicated are half of what the actual restaurant menu shows. This restaurant should either update their website or remove the menu altogether as it is incredibly misleading. The restaurant was quite busy and perhaps we just ordered the wrong things, but I wanted to write this review as a sort of awareness, which I don't ususally do, but if someone is going out to spend their hard earned money somewhere, you want it to be worth it.

Absolutely outstanding.... Best restaurant in Sidcup by a mile.... Terrific, friendly and funny service from Pascal and his son. Food is so authentic and delicious- every course was great...I had the steak and partner had salmon and prawn. Both done perfectly. Dessert was awesome. Also byo drinks which was a nice unexpected surprise. Highly highly recommend. Lastly they are dog friendly with my Labrador joining us out the front terrace. Thank you for a terrific experience from start to finish.

We had a fantastic brunch here for my birthday. So came back for an evening meal. Absolutely superb food, staff are really friendly and whitty 🙂. Main meals are LARGE so make sure you are hungry. We were invited to have 2 starters instead of a main, they are so versatile. Definitely be back again and again. Thank you guys 👏👏
