We visited this establishment over the weekend….and we wish had not! But the first place we saw had no customers (even though it looked nice from outside) so we came across this place and as it seemed quite busy, we decided to give it a try. Well what a mistake that turned out to be! Uncomfortable / too low seating, chaotic ordering system and messy looking menu, slow, inflexible service and most importantly, the food and drinks we ordered were all horrible! Milkshake was bland, tea was like dishwater, coffee was too strong and the food was burnt/greasy. Apart from all that, it was marvellous! Seriously, avoid this place folks - there’s plenty of other food/drink establishments nearby.

Ordered an ice coffee and a banana milkshake with our lunch, both drinks were warm the milkshake was room temperature milk obviously not kept in Fridge, had to ask for some ice to cool the drinks which didn’t work I was expecting ice cold drink's . The food arrived an English breakfast the egg wasn’t cooked properly. We were bombarded with fruit flies to top it off. Owner / staff member sat on next table overheard us saying our drinks were warm but never offered to help us. Terrible service….

Went to helm as had been recommended by a work friend. Terrible place , ignored by woman on counter on phone talking about a baby . She finally served me and was very abrupt . Waited ages for food and I presume that’s as I went to bathroom I saw staff outside smoking and complaining about wanting get off as going on holiday .Also staff must be terribly unhappy as I could clearly hear the woman on counter and a woman who came out of kitchen have a loud discussion about how stupid and bad a woman called Julie is and talking about how other members of staff are lazy and don’t do anything .

Went in for breakfast on bank holiday Monday with friends. Sat in the secret garden . There were 16 of us and all our meals came together beautifully cooked and tasty . I also took home two scones and a bakewell slice , best scone I’ve had in years reminded me of the ones my mum used to make and the wife said the bakewell was amazing. Staff were polite and worked hard the place was packed out and all were smiling and helpful . Will definitely go again and recommend to anyone wanting a great breakfast and if you go you got to try the scones .

Full of conspiracy theory idiots, couldn't believe the sheer amount of stupidity I was being subjected too, the prime example being one of them Banging on about 5G then complaining that her phone service was rubbish. I then went to pay with my card for 2 separate orders which sparked another controversy. These people need help not customers

Im absolutely ashamed of the managements way of speaking to her team. Some poor girl in tears after her manager shouted and gave her whole life story. This is unacceptable. The treatment of staff was horrific, I was sat with my family and could hear the manager yelling at a young staff member to the point where she was crying. This is not how young people should be treated in a workplace and I I’ll not be visiting again.

Honestly this whole place was a mess, not only was the manager rude to staff, but the food was horrible, cold and all around poor and the treatment of the staff honestly put me of , I never want to come back, who would want to sit in a toxic environment and listen to the abuse of staff, down right embarrassing for the owner, the only positive was my lovely server who had a wonderful smile and made an effort to make sure me and my family were well looked after, I think her name was Millie she was a wonderful girl .

I dropped in to The Helm as I do whenever I am in Cleethorpes for a coffee and cake. I first visited in late 2020 and found it to be an oasis of sense amongst the insanity of the COVID-19 fake pandemic and the pseudoscientific 'measures' imposed by the Government once businesses like this were permitted to reopen. I decided it was a business I'd like to support wherever and whenever possible. My latest visit didn't disappoint - a lovely coffee and delicious cake with the friendly and welcoming service I've always experienced. Keep up the excellent work 👏🏻

The food and drink here is great. Most importantly, the owners have persistently stood up for the sovereignty we should all be standing up for in this day and age. Their display of those most neglected by society, those whom were unfortunately fell victim to the emotional abuse campaign and tricked into taking the experimental cocktails and lost their lives because of it, is a true testament to choosing authenticity over conformity, and this should be rewarded.

Nestled amongst a busy and vibrant seafront arcade of shops is The Helm Cafe, a cozy and popular place to eat and drink whilst simply sitting in and watching the world go by. There are plenty of tables and plenty of staff on hand to keep orders flying out and from our observations, very well presented meals with generous portions. We chose as our preference the ever popular Special English breakfast and we were not disappointed. Plenty on it and left me very satisfied. If it’s simply drinks you want, coffees and cappuccinos are coming out in decorative fashions, Hallowe’en faces. An adjoining family business sits at both sides of this Cafe so whether it’s something for the home you’re after, or something for the beach activities going outside, have a browse at your leisure. I believe dogs may be welcome but please check first. There’s tables outside on the front and to the rear in the private garden if you have these. So, next time you’re in the area, fancy a quick bite or drink, don’t pass up the opportunity. We use this Cafe very often and never lets us down…. The Helm welcomes you

If I could give this place no stars I would! VILE owner! Speaks to her staff like utter dirt, she should be ashamed of herself. She made a member of staff cry whilst we visited. We couldn’t not say anything as it was that uncomfortable! When we arrived, 4 adults and 2 babies, we needed 2 tables putting together, the owner immediately came over and told us to stop as we will scratch the floor, which why have flooring in a public place that you’re so precious about when people walk/ move chairs and tables all the time. The girl who got spoken to like utter dirt should leave as she is worth more than that, we felt so sorry for her, bearing in mind it was her 3rd shift and she explained this isn’t the first time she cried. Disgusting boss, think her name was Julie!!! Maybe Julie if you spoke to people nicely you’d get the respect back.

We visited today for a quick bite with our friends and kids and they told us not to move the table and chairs incase it scratched the floor, (a cafe that gets lots of people in and out all day everyday) Also we overheard the boss talking to one of her staff like she was a piece of dirt, she should be ashamed of the way she spoke to her, we then saw this girl outside crying because of how she was spoken too, she told us it was her third shift and it’s not the first time her boss has made her cry. This owner needs to understand that people need to time to learn how to do the job and not speak down to her in front of people in the cafe. If I could give this cafe a zero because of the owners actions today I would.

Popped in for a quick lunch with husband and dog, we chose this cafe as it was listed on a couple of dog friendly websites. On arrival we were told that dogs were allowed if kept under the table, no problem our lurcher is well behaved and we'd brought a towel for him to sit on. Husbands choice from menu wasn't available and my choice wasn't available either (my fault for this one, I'd looked at an old menu on Facebook), I do think they should have menus on the tables though, the food menus are on the wall but didn’t see a drinks menu. Asked for some water for my dog, was told they're not allowed to let dogs drink in the cafe. To be fair, the lady was lovely and when I explained dogs age and that I had a bowl for him and would keep it on his towel she let me have tap water for him. We've been to a lot of dog friendly places that have happily provided water and sometimes even treats and sausages! This was unusual as we felt the dog was an inconvenience to them. Food was good although expensive for what it was.

Went for breakfast and coffees. Coffees arrived we quickly, 35min later when questioning where breakfast was, was informed that there was a power-cut (although servers didn’t think it was appropriate to come and tell us this?). When food finally arrived 54 mins after ordering, waitress was short in telling us we needed to get our own cutlery, something we evidently wasn’t told when ordering, no apology or acknowledgement for our wait. Went to this little cafe on a recommendation and found it very nice as I walked in the door with my fiance, we was hoping for a nice quiet brekky and a chat. We both opted for the posh breakfast (£6.95) which sounded lovely, granary toast..bacon...avocado..poached egg, we was asked what drinks we would like and both ordered coffee. When paying the bill they charged us for drinks when all breakfasts come with a cup of tea or coffee in with the price??? . We took our seats and waited five mins for coffees to turn up followed by our "posh brekky" which to my shock was a thin layer of avocado...two pieces of toast...one piece of cremated bacon and a poached egg?? Then there was an awful salad...yes salad...with a breakfast ..lol?? If I had seen a pic of what I was paying for I'd have chosen something else, but then on our first bite of our avocado smearing it was obvious the avocado was sour...we both told the waitress who took our plates...said she would sort the problem then disappeared into the kitchen until we got tired of waiting....very poor service and food was awful..well the posh breakfast anyway...total RIP off

With no beans or tomatoes as an option, my small bun and tea in a paper cup was terrible - what a disapointment after a long walk. There is far better for a lot less money; I don’t mind paying if it is a decent size bun. Tin foil wrapped around the bun would’ve also been nice. Definitely a better option than the paper bag I received, it’s not the best idea with a broken egg yoke. Never again.

Parkies cafe has had a full revamp and the effect is a definite wow- decor and food! Sort of up market surfer shack style with a very up to date menu without sacrificing the classics !! - crushed avocado on granary toast with crispy bacon and vine tomatoes, topped with a poached egg- just wonderful. Traditional full English still available. Paninis, salads, curry also on menu. Childrens menu also available. Quality ingredients. Very well presented. Reasonable prices. Lovely staff.

This is the newly refurbished Parkinson's cafe now 'The Helm'. Ashamedly I wasn't aware it existed until recently as it is now incorporated within the the shops Banana Leaf and Reef Rash. Cleverly combined and quirky, it has an appealing ambience, good selective menu and attentive staff. Highly recommend a visit.

What a lovely cafe! We have just discovered this cafe after it having just been refurbished! It is friendly and up to date with a great menu. Best of all, it's dog friendly!! About time we got a decent dog friendly cafe in Cleethorpes!

Fantastic improvements...loved it..Great food & coffee, staff couldn't do enough for you. We found the price's to be reasonable...you get what you pay for these days. Places like Parkinsons have to move with the times, the owners should be proud of what they have done.Great to be able to take our dog into the cafe after a lovely walk on the beach with the family...

Over priced food. Coffee was Ok, but the item sold as "Tiffin" was nothing of the sort...crushed Maltesers, or the Aldi equivalent , mixed with cheap chocolate. This is NOT 'Tiffin'....at £2.75 a slice...we expected quality. We didn't get it.But the main thing that shocked us was the fact that customers had dogs with them. When a family, with small children were eating on a low table at dog height...gross

Visited the new 're-furbished Parkinson's, and a bit underwhelmed. The charm of the old cafe was its no frills image, with decent reasonably priced food. Now it's gone a bit up market, but prices have gone up, decor is interesting, but seating reduced, and stool seats rather uncomfortable. Also, the cafe is now an open plan arrangement with Banana Leaf, so you feel like your Sat in the shop. Early days, so maybe teething problems, but the charm seems to have dissipated.

Parkinsons have recently had a major redevelopment, it looks amazing, perfect seaside cafe. Still in its early stages but WOW, its good. The shop links into the cafe so all the decor in the cafe can be purchased at source..................brilliant.

This place has changed over the years, after last year (2023) I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back, but I'm glad it did. Myself and mostly Gluten Free family had lovely carvery. - Good Cleanliness - Decent Atmosphere - Nice Setup - Meat was cooked to perfection. 🤌🏻 There's were however a things that wasn't particularly great... - I was the only person in the line for a carvery and I watched 12 minutes go by. - The roast potatos were VERY crispy. - No more refillable drinks! I got very annoyed standing there, I have a blue badge due to my disability and my lordosis wasn't doing great but I managed. I know people that wouldn't be able to manage that kind of wait which could take away their independence. Admittedly I only had one roast potato, I like to think I pick the ones that look the best and look fluffy. But the texture and taste wasn't great. Could have been a bad pick, bad batch or just a bad day. I have really enjoyed them in the past. For a refillable drink it only cost 15p more than a regular pint of pop. 😬 So I was shocked to find that there is no more refillable.

Chicken and pepperoni pizza was a generous size and had plenty of chips too. Staff friendly, don't remember asked if our meals were OK though. Good overall though.
