Park View Cafe in Rhondda Cynon Taf

I always remember park view fish shop being so nice, popped in last week for takeaway - small chips, jumbo sausage and curry sauce. It was very disappointing, chips were anaemia, the sausage was tasteless and the curry sauce wasn’t nice either. I won’t go there again!

told on reopening that it would be gluten free chips as the chips would be cooked in separate fryer to fish/sausage. Make sure you check before you buy as this is not the case. Very disappointed with old owners and shame on new for not adhering to dietary (not life choice as per vegan) needs

Not much common sense amongst the staff. I asked for a tray of chips and curry and a large sausage in batter, not realising until I got home that the male had not closed the tray securely because he (for absolutely no reason I can think of) put the sausage inside the tray on top of the chips which resulted in the curry leaking out of the half-closed tray which leaked through the entire paper wrappings. Is it not common sense to ensure the contents inside the tray are closed securely by wrapping up the sausage separately? So that it is not crammed in the tray causing it not to close securely so all the contents can leak everywhere onto the rest of my belongings????? I ended up only eating about a handful of chips with the ones I could find curry on, the rest and the full sausage went in the bin as I had no sauce to dip it in. Sounds like a petty review but I don't appreciate paying for a meal which ends up going straight in the bin because of pure staff laziness.

Used to love this chip shop and sit down cafe called there today me and my wife had pasty gravy and chips no drinks cost £13 pounds food was nice but the price not so nice

I haven't been to the cafe for years and was out and about so thought I'd take home some supper. I really wanted some faggots peas and chips. I got there and no one was queuing but 3 people were waiting. No faggots so I ordered cod, chips and mushy peas and paid over £12 for this. Not too long a wait but there was a wait and I was eventually given my order. I got home and while the portions were good I wasn't overly impressed. The fish was okay as was the mushy peas but the chips were just awful, just dry and tasteless, in fact I couldn't eat them. So for an okay piece of fish and some mushy peas I paid over £12 - never again. Maybe with a change of ownership things will improve but I am in no rush to go back! It is nowhere near the quality it once was obviously the owner has just given up.

Small portions & expensive prices even allowing for the present cost of living. Food is ok thought but not better than some local places.

My father and I would come at least once every fortnight for chicken curry and chips of the bone, we haven't had it for about a year so I thought I'd call in and grab us one for one time sake and well the difference is night and day. Before it was a good size meal and half a cooked chicken stripped of the bone and then curry sauce is added etc. Well the new one is less than half the size also the chicken is not of the bone its that cheep frozen breast cubed. I phoned the cafe to complain and long story short there is nothing they would do about it I made it very clear that they and I have a massive difference in food and told them they couldn't live upto the was it was done before. Also price is crazy expensive these photos speak for them selfs

Always loved this place. Dint know what's changed but it definitely isn't working. Hair in my food and service was very slow.

Ordered Fish bits and chips, place, and cod . Took 3/4 of an hour even though we were third in the queue. Got home no fish bits, chips cold, cod and place swimming in fat. Do not eat here

The fish and chips here were really nice. The staff were friendly. The service was good and really fast. Great food and service. Would recommend.

This is appauling, instead of giving me fish they gave me SPARE RIBS. I thought it was a fish shop, not a chinese. The toilet was clogged, not to mention minging stains around the seat. The chips wasn't even cooked, they were hard and tasted like mouldy potatoes. And not forgetting about the ice cream, it was ICE, tasted like baby powder and condensed salmon.

Ordered food at the window along with 3 other people, then someone else came along with a big order who the server obviously knew and they served that person first. We then had to wait outside for 15 minutes while they recooked! Add to that you are paying nearly £20 for fish and chips which is stuck to the crappy grease proof paper they use! Utter rubbish!! Never again

Two jumbo sausage in batter. Large chips & a curry sauce, £9 !! The sausage looked raw as if they had been cooked first THEN battered as it was peeling off and extremely greasy. To top it off, this place has an heigiene rating of just 2. Never again

This fish and chip shop is probably the very best in wales. They only serve FRESH fish with the tastiest chips anywhere probably within the western hemisphere. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are pleasant polite and always very obliging. I alway look forward to a visit whenever I am in the vicinity. This is a business that has been in existence for over fifty years, and the taste of the food cetainly proves this point. The proprietor Peter and his son Carlo know this business "inside out" as it were, and every aspect of the business reflects this experience, from the food, to the staff, and of course the service, Thank you very much to the team that work here and especially to " the Cruci" gang. You are the BEST in every sense of the word.

We came to Pontypridd on the train, because if I am not mistaken most of the car parks around the town centre restrict you to 3 hours. The day started with a cooked breakfast followed by a walk through the park. After this we spent 2 hours looking around the shops because we needed bits and pieces for our holiday to Spain. I managed to get shorts and t shirts from Pep & Co, flip flops from Peacock's and sun cream from Savers. We got all of the toiletries from B & M and managed to do the weekly shop at Iceland supermarket (they delivered it for us). After all the shopping we were feeling peckish so decided to eat at the Park View Cafe. The cafe was quite busy but the tables were spread out and the staff cleaned the table before we sat down. (We felt safe despite the threat of the virus). We received a warm welcome and ordered curry and chips. They were delicious and of a good size. Next time we return I am going to try the fish and chips and my partner fancies the pie and chips.

One of the longest established in town, well over 50 years i'd say. Always been good but seems more pricey these days. A sit down fish & chips is £9 in here, take away just over £6 but only had a not so good take away once recently when i ordered chicken curry off the bone which turned out to be raw ingresients other than the chicken then simply heated up in the microwave, it wasn't nice at all. Hving siad that the meal last evening was very nice, chicken chips & rissole. Perhaps not that lareg a portion of chips though.

Young lady serving was listening to customer in front of me &/or was flustered as she provided meal. Long queue though. Chips lovely as always but uncooked onions on the chicken curry off the bone? Unheard of, isn't it? Why is it £1 dearer i.e. £7 not £6 if one sits in?

We called in for fish and chips (pre ordered)..Best fish around.. We l;ive quite close so is a regular haunt..Highly recommended

Called in when in Ponty today as when I was spending lots of time there years ago I used this cafe regularly. Just bought a bag if chips. Mistake. More like a bag of soggy mush. Maybe left overs from last batch? But please don’t sell them like that. In garden now waiting for the seagulls to eat them.

I usually sit in, either on my own or with one of my kids. The staff are so friendly and seem to be genuinely happy in work and not faking the smiles. Not the most salubrious of venues but it's clean and welcoming.It's always busy in here with a constant stream of people eating in and taking away. Everything is freshly cooked and good quality and quantity.

Fabulous food, generous portions, brilliant staff and reasonably priced! An also now pay by card!! Result ....... A proper chippy, no gimmicks just great food xx

Waited over ten minutes for a sandwich told in rude manner they had no bread no apology no sign on window or menu saying no sandwiches which where advertised.staff could been more polite

Feeling lazy and hungry so called in for breakfast with the grandkids. A lovely filling Breakfast and easy on the pocket. Clean plates all round. 'Can we come again?' they asked. That says it all. 👍

After the belly pork takeaway noshed in a pub in Cardiff, promised I would visit and dine, have been twice in a week! Really great place, lovely friendly staff, very welcoming

A friend from Pontypridd rates the Park View very highly - so for the "boys" Saturday afternoon private nosh in the pub, the idea was for the belly pork! And lovely it was too, marinaded a couple of days earlier in something delicious, generous size pieces and properly cooked. Ans till warm - as we were in Cardiff!

Good service and great food. The staff work really hard. Highly recommend the breakfasts as well as they are great value.

Just eaten the best fish and chips I’ve had in years. A really thick piece of cod with a nice light batter. Chips were really yummy too. This used to be a regular of mine and the only chippy I would use when I lived in the area but I now live 150 miles away and cannot find anywhere nearby that lives up to this place! I would highly recommend.

Still and always has been a nice clean and steady chippy ! Has a fair sized seating area for eat in meals with a large and varied menus for both take away and the cafe area ! Staff are great and friendly always !

I have frequented this place for over 35 years, so I thought it was about time to tell everyone how good it is! Simply, they do it right, top quality ingredients, expertly cooked at very competitive prices... Tonight I had Cod, Chips & Mushy peas, it was absolutely delicious! Their fish is specially selected from suppliers by Carlo, the current manager/owner. Carlo along with Lynne his assistant gave me their customary welcome even though it was extremely busy. There is nothing to dislike about this Italian family run business , I'm so glad they settled in Pontypridd!

This is now almost the only place in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area that my partner will have chips from (we haven't visited them all, though!). She likes 'real' chips done well and this place very rarely disappoints. I've been going on and off for years.

This is the ONLY place in pontypridd to get your chips I'd never go anywhere else been getting chips from here for years you got the park straight across the road from here so buy your chips and go sit in there or you can sit in they do everything from fish n chips to cooked dinners and the food is always fresh the owner is a real nice friendly person

Opted for fish and large chips to take out and eat over the road in park totalled £6.10, staff were friendly and gave some lemon for the fish. Cafe and outside seating available, they were good fish and chips.

If this place changed its staff it could improve they are so unhappy and rude, the problem with the food is they are charging the same prices for fish n chips as some of the best chip shops in Wales but insists on still wrapping them in paper not a cardboard box , the issue with the particular paper they are using is that it is sticking to every chip which means by the time you have pulled them all off you end up with a mashy mess ,such a shame it could be so much better if they served them differently. Portions are also very small .

Go here over the rest of the chippies in the area because it's lovely. Biggest jumbo sausage this side of Jupiter aswell!!!! Whoever said the staff are unfriendly are mental. Top staff and a top service.

Whenever we are in the area we always make a point to visit Park View and enjoy their fish and chips. They are usually freshly cooked and I don't know what they do to make them so tasty.There's usually a line, which is a sign of how great the food is, but they serve everyone quickly and efficiently.If you're in Pontypridd or the local area, this is the place to eat great fish and chips.

This place has been a family run business for over 50 yrs i know of. A place has to be good to survive because there are so many other similar businesses out there & because the general public can be so demanding these days. Lovely, clean with nice staff/owner & great food, ok not gourmet but just good, honest, tasty, fresh fish 'n chips etc. The chicken curry off the bone with chips is a great fill you up scrummy meal particularly. It's perhaps slightly more expensive i think than many chippies in the area but worth that bit extra nonetheless.

The title to my review is pretty self-explanatory. The chippy has a fantastic reputation in the local area and definitely offers the nicest fish and chips around. The prices are fairly steep though. The staff always seem miserable and moody which can make it quite off-putting going there. I realise they are probably over-worked and tired but a friendly and upbeat demeanour wouldn't go amiss.

Portion sizes here are amazing they never skimp on servings. Not as good as its hay day, but still some of the best chips around!!!

I don't live in the area but was visiting someone and was starving. I put vest fish and chips in ponty into Google and this place came up. I was just round the corner so tried it. It was reasonably priced, the sausage was freshly battered in front of me and the chips were nice. Unfortunately the curry sauce was revolting. It was orangy red in colour, fruity, not spicy at all. I realise it is personal preference but I didn't like it at all. Other than that the rest was tasty

This is a great chippy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean. The food was really nice. Would visit again.

Visited Park View on Bank Holiday Monday and my children sat down like they have before. They were rudely asked to come from the seats as it was take away only. The general feeling was the staff wanted to be closed for the day so they should not have bothered opening. I have visited before and always found the service superb but was very disappointed on Monday.

I recently visited park view today after a long time but the service was terrible. I was waiting for over 25 minuets for my food with no explanation. I understand it gets busy but being in the food industry you would expect them to be prepared for a rush. I had no apology for the delay at all. In the end I walked out as I found it ridiculous waiting so long for chips and sausage.

Visited this restaurant after our family day out in Pontypridd Park, The food and service we received was excellent, we will definitely be going there again when we visit Pontypridd Park in the school summer holidays.

Brilliant meal had by the whole family, yet again. We never miss a stop off here when visiting family nearby. Service and food is always outstanding. Simply the best place around.

I've visited there on about 10/12 times and every time they're fish has been perfect. The hake is to die for . Everything from start to finish is perfect and the staff can't do enough for you. I highly recommend this place

After many years of picking up a quick takeaway, we decided to try the restaurant, wish we'd done it before. The service was speedy and the fish and chips as good if not better than any I've had before. Other customers food looked pretty good too. Highly recommended.

Park view fish restaurant is one of the hidden gems in Wales I have been going there for the past 30 years The whole menu is with out a doubt a foodies delight as are there currys and homemade gravy It's well worth the 350 mile drive Just thinking about it my mouth is watering

Lovely fish and chips in this traditional cafe where you are guaranteed a friendly welcome. All excellent value and large portions. They don't just do fish and chips - you can choose from a range of other offerings including thick local bacon, faggots, sausage, liver and bacon, pies and traditional roast. Old fashioned puddings as well. The decor is basic but there's a genuine smile and a commitment to old fashioned good service. Cups of tea that you could stand your spoon up in!

Used cafe on thursday looked lovely , over £3 for a sandwich and £4.55 for a chocolate and a coffee which was served in a plastic beaker . Both of our drinks were only warm and i was not going to wait again for another when it was busy. Drinks cold was over priced , in all dissapointed would rather have gone and saved money next time at GreggsFamilys with small children must feel its to expensive to snack there.

This is a very nice cafe/chippy the only problem is the chips which are on a good day a pale lump of fried mash, theyre completely disgusting and its such a shame as the rest of the food is really good and the staff very friendly. Please just sort out your chips because as is i aam havint to buy my fish and sausage there and pop into central hippy around the corner for chips. I am more than willing to spend more and get less for real nice chips.

Had a breakfast here Saturday, knowing that the cafe had a 5 star hygeine rating I thought I'd give it a try.Best breakfast in Pontypridd. Have also had fish and chips here a few times, my wife says it's the best around and I agree. Highly recommended, will visit for a breakfast again on Saturday! Well done Park View!

This is the best chippy in ponty, the staff are really friendly. The place is very clean. The food is always nice. would recommend if looking for a bag of chips in ponty.

What can I say other than its the best chippy in Ponty! Its a bit like that tv show cheers to be honest and hosts some great characters. The food is always good and the sausages are huge. If your after a bag of sglods to eat in the park then look no further my friends.

Absolutely love this place, food is to die for, best traditional fish and shop for miles. Price is a little top heavy but this should be expected when you know everything is cooked fresh. I visit this place approx 2-3 times a month, staff are very friendly and I can't say I've ever had a bad meal.

I have never been to a more authentic italian chip shop, run by a great group of people id consider family rather than employees. The service i recieve time after time far out shines other cafe/restaurants and would strongly recommend to anyone visiting the pontypridd area.. ps the fish & batter along with the fresh chips cant be beaten anywhere else :):)

Amazing food visit atleast once a month. Worth that extra walk from town centre jusr to have tidy descent fish shop rather than the muck they sell in town :-)

I think their prices are a tad higher than other local chip shops and their opening hours more limited. The chips have always been great as are the usual accompaniments. I recommend the chicken off the bone...deeeelicious!

Ive recently visited Pontypridd on a shopping trip and decided to go and eat in park view fish bar & since visiting have recommeded to all my friends and family, I was really impressed with the professionalism and promptness of the staff, and the quality of food just speaks for itself, undoubtedly fresh food with distinctive flavour! Will be back!!

This old Italian family run business is well known in Ponty. Not only do they serve traditional Fish and Chips, but also breakfasts and roasts to eat in or take away. Try their Liver Bacon and Onions.... delicious !!

This is a cracking establishment run by a warm an friendly Italian family! The best portion of fish and chips I have ever seen and a sausage the size of your leg! Cracking place il deffinatly return!
