First time we visited here, but we'll definitely be back again. We hadn't booked a table (Friday lunchtime) but despite being quite busy the friendly staff were able to accommodate us - though it's popularity means I think I would book the next time. The menu has a great variety from snacks to full three course meals, and with many of the options already Gluten Free, or able to be adapted to be Gluten Free, and they give good helpings of their delicious food at sensible prices. Looking forward to planning our next visit already

We happened across the bistro when we were walking along the Union Canal. We had a cake and coffee each. Staff were friendly and helpful. Step-free access and a disabled loo with plenty of space, very clean and smelled lovely! As a wheelchair user, this place was ideal for me. Lots of space to move and tables don't feel crammed in.

I've been twice recently once for dinner with family and once for lunch with friends. The food was excellent. I had Mexican quesidilla both times. The staff are really nice. We will definitely go back. This restaurant managed to stay open during the pandemic with their clever outdoor burger bar. It was a great service for the local community. The outside area now has a partial cover for rainy days very useful.

I found the Park Bistro when cycling last year along the Forth and Clyde Canal which is right next to the bistro. Always friendly and prompt service with freshly cooked food. The chips are fantastic as are the bacon or sausage rolls when cycling. Its usually very busy at lunchtimes but there is good parking and bike racks or just lean the bike against the wall surrounding the eating area.

Just a 'coffee and cake' type visit today, as the break in an 18 mile round trip walk !! Saw Aaron, 'the main man', busy as usual. I was swithering between the tiffin and the carrot cake, and went for the carrot as it's an old favourite of mine - nice and moist, with plenty fruity 'bits' in it. Boots used to have a lovely carrot cake which you could have as part of a 'meal deal', but they seem to have stopped doing it recently - maybe an opening here for the Park Bistro ?? - send a couple of big slices of your carrot cake to Boots H.O. and see how many thousand they would like from you each week ??!! And if it works out for you, I'll just have a free slice each time I visit !! Keep up the good work.

Visited Park Bistro today with wife and younger (adult) daughter - our third visit during the pandemic - and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the service - and appreciated what they have done to make people feel safe, without being too conspicuous with it.They have increased their external seating area, and spaced out their internal seating, allowing them to be busy without feeling cramped at all. You can eat in or take away, and they are benefitting from more people out walking along the canal and popping in for a snack or a meal - and their take-away service is proving popular with locals who are working from home. Well done for that, and Good Luck going forward. You can have breakfast, brunch, lunch, cakes, drinks, late lunch/early dinner - but no alcohol. They specialise in delicious quality burgers - beef or chicken, with a good range of add-ons/fillings - today we had a Buffalo chicken, a black and blue (with black pudding, mushroom, and a blue-cheese mayo), and a 'daily special' with goat's cheese and caramelised onions - and some very tasty fries too (truffle, Peri, Buffalo...).Add to that some very attentive staff, first class customer service, (well done AGAIN Aaron !!) close attention to COVID requirements, reasonable prices - and it's well worth a visit (or several !). We'll definitely be back again, and will encourage others to visit too.

Had heard was managing to stay open with all new restrictions in place, so went out with wife and father in law hopeful of a table, and luckily enough we were able to get table. From start felt very welcomed and waiter explained all the new rules clearly and polite with it, and once ordered not disappointed with service and food and price all great. Wife had Mexican chicken burger with fries very tasty, father in law had the Farmhouse Bacon burger, again I tastier, very succulent burger and I went for the Buffalo Chicken burger with Peri Fries, again a lovely tasting choice, highly recommended, again as always pleasant, helpful polite staff, certainly will be back.

Wanted to impress friends from Brighton and was I impressed , thank you Bistro guys .Ok had to comply with the covid rules and waited till a table was ready which we saw being wiped clean and that included the seats. Waiters extremely helpful and hard working , anything to oblige .Everyone enjoyed what they ordered , mostly a burger menu maybe that's why it's called the burger barn and i'm not talking about the big mac sh1t , this is real food and locally sourced and produced in house . Prices very reasonable . The menu includes sandwiches, salads, Fries, vegan most items about eight pounds price range .The Bistro is beautifully located beside the Union canal with a pier for those on a barge and is part of a farm , plenty of parking and good walks down the canal path .Only one spoiler and that was a stupid woman who couldn't read the large NO EXIT sign on the entry door and follow the one way system.

My wife and I have visited the Park Bistro twice in the last couple of weeks and loved it. Both visits were for a pre-walk brunch. The "Burger Barn" menu is great and we have tried the Avo Smash Breakfast Burger, the Sweet & Savoury a smoked bacon with fried egg doubler and link sausage with potato scone. Greedy, greedy me! I could have had one of everything I enjoyed it so much. Don't know how the Bistro will operate during the latest restrictions but we will be back as soon as it's OK. The canal walk was a treat as well (we did get nice weather both times right enough), once visiting some shops in Linlithgow, and the other time going down and walking round the loch at the Palace. An absolute treat and in these peculiar times it is worth pointing out that the system for distancing, service and entry/exit were easy to follow and well communicated by the staff. One a value for money basis we didn't get much change from £20 for 3 rolls (2 doublers with either the Avo Smash or S & Savoury) with green tea and a soft drink, but that seemed about right given the standard of the food - the green tea was a bit ordinary is the only (very tiny) criticism. We will be back!

We called in at Park Bistro today on our way home from an appointment. It was a little out of the way for us but I am glad we stopped. We were both in need of a coffee. We had coffee and chocolate muffins. Coffee was very nice but the chocolate muffins were dry. The restaurant was quiet at that time in the afternoon which was nice. Service was good, efficient and friendly. It is a bit more expensive than the cafes in the town but I suppose that might be because it is a restaurant. I was disappointed with the menu. It appeared to have lots of varieties of burgers and not much else.

My wife and I were going for a walk along the Union Canal today, and decided to call into the Park Bistro for some lunch. Located about 1.5 miles east of Linlithgow, and literally just across the road from the Union Canal, with ample parking (including disabled) and external seating - easy to find and easily accessible.Inside is well laid out, clean and bright, with seating on 2 levels, a well-stocked bar, a small area available (by arrangement) for private dining, an indoor kids' play area, and fresh and clean toilets. At the moment they are still on 'Winter hours', open for breakfast from 10.30 and until 3pm for lunch (last orders 2.30) - but their hours expand to full and 7 day trading when the clocks go forward at the end of March, when a new menu will also be introduced. We arrived a bit on the late side, but were made very welcome and had the full menu (and bar !) to choose from. We opted for open focaccia sandwiches - salmon with dill cream cheese, cucumber and rocket for my wife - and sirloin, chorizo, roast tomato and mixed leaves for me - and they were both delicious ! There are other mouthwatering sandwiches on offer, plus an excellent and interesting range of burgers, and other favourites such as steak pie, beer battered haddock, chilli, scampi...plus weekly-changing specials such as beef stroganoff, pan-fried monkfish and king prawns - and with a good range of starters, desserts, cakes, scones, plus gluten and dairy free and veggie/vegan options also available - something for everyone, and enough for us to already be thinking about what to have on our next visit, and who we might take with us !! We finished things off nicely with a coffee (and chunk of delicious tablet) for my wife and a nice pint of Peroni for me.We were perfectly happy with what we had to eat and drink, as we also were with the level of service provided throughout our visit. Aaron was well-turned-out, attentive, friendly, sociable, and definitely added to our overall visit satisfaction. We enjoyed our visit today, when we were out for a walk, and would recommend it to anyone walking, cycling, or sailing along the canal to or from Linlithgow, or to anyone in the local area who could easily get there by car.

After a long walk along the Canal, this Bistro is ideally situated for us and a very welcome sight as you round the corner and serves lovely food. We both had the excellent steak pie with meat that just melted in your mouth. Table Servers are very good asking if your food is ok etc. It’s always busy when we’ve called in and it’s actually best to book a table to avoid any disappointment. They have a comprehensive menu, with a good range of tasty dishes to suit everyone including those that are gluten intolerant. The toilets are always clean and warm too.If I was to be slightly critical I’d say the manageress who normally takes the orders can be in our opinion a bit sharp and needs to smile/chill out a little.Other than that we will call in again.

We recently visited for lunch, and it had been sometime since we were last there. The setting is nice, beside the canal, and we like to walk along the canal bank there and back. Our first impression was that they really need to replace their menus. They were grubby and sticky. More akin to a greasy spoon cafe than a decent restaurant. I went to wash my hands after I had ordered my food, as I didn't want to eat after touching it.The next thing we noticed was that, unlike pre out visits some time ago, the specials blackboard wasn't being used. Instead, there was an insert in the grubby menu book with some specials listed. Nothing unusual or outstanding. Everything was pretty standard fare.We were shown to our seats quickly, and the server was polite and efficient. We opted not to have starters as there was nothing on the menu that appealed. Instead, the 4 of us had mains, and 2 had desserts. The steak pie was good, as was the burger. One of our party had the Thai curry, which they said was just OK, and the scampi was reasonable. The sticky toffee pudding went down a treat. The bill, including drinks, was around £80, which was a bit pricey for what we had.We wouldn't rush back. It was OK, but it used to be a cut above standard pub grub.

We went for dinner yesterday evening and I phoned about 2 hours before just to make sure of a table. We hadn’t been to the Bistro for well over a year. Although it’s an all year round place, I think it comes into its own with the good weather. It’s setting is priceless sitting just off the scenic canal banks with lush farmland all around. Inside not a lot had changed. It still had an open and airy ambience and the friendly and welcoming staff were still present. The menu had changed a little to in that the specials used to be on a board but now they are on the first page of an extensive menu which also offers choices for the gluten free and vegetarian guests. We opted for starters and main with wine and a cappuccino each to finish. We both had the lentil soup and my wife said she couldn’t have made better herself. Defo a compliment. The bill was mid range pricing but without doubt great value. Hopefully it won’t be a year plus to our next visit. Parking is no problem and there is even an overflow car park when busy. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

We have passed the sign for the Park Bistro many times but today we decided to give it a try and by and large we are glad we did. It’s a nice place and obviously professional and well run. The menu is not extensive but well thought out and a wee bit different. My partners steak was really nice well cooked and tasty. Now, I claim no expertise other than having eaten a lot of fish in a lot of restaurants and I have noticed something. As my Haddock was served my partners comment was “will that be enough for you”? What I think I had before me was half a fillet of fish, perfectly cooked with crispy batter tartare sauce peas and a small handful of chips. The fish was delicious but unless I am seriously mistaken this was not a whole fillet of haddock, I would love a chef to clarify this for everyone? Is this in fact common practice? The other thing I do not understand is why a small cup of coffee(Americano) should cost £2.65? Again it was nice could have been hotter but came in one of those deceptively small cups. The staff here were very helpful and service was great so happy to recommend you give it a try.

Unfortunately only awarding 2/5 for our dinner here. We had booked with a few days notice and were fortunate to get a table on a busy night. Upon arrival we noticed that there was a very large party in celebrating. We are not unreasonable people and didn't really mind that they were merrily cheering their friends and sang a quick song. Unfortunately they soon started screeching, swearing and shouting lewd comments at each other. We were sat in close proximity to them so it was impossible to hold a conversation and it was a really unpleasant atmosphere. Two other tables seated near us were also looking very uncomfortable about the profanities and quickly escaped. Had we have been checked back during our meal this issue would have been raised with staff members but there was no such contact. Having worked in a similar setting I believe that this situation should've been handled differently. For example, we could have been notified at the time of the booking that there was a large party going to be in attendance, or a staff member could have approached the table about inappropriate language for a family restaurant...

We visited park bistro after a long absence. Service was very quick although we had to chase them for a sauce. Fish and chips were uneventful. The peas were cold and it was served with a most unusual tartare sauce which had no bite to it. The steak pie was a large helping which was tasty but the pastry was soggy. We passed on the coffee at £2.65 which is a ridiculous price for a bistro. It is hardly George .street. We felt the music was unnecessary as there was plenty of noise. Would we rush back not really.

Came with family, who live locally, at the end of our short stay in Scotland. Gorgeous surroundings right by the canal. Meal was lovely, freshly cooked and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It is on my list to visit again when we are up next.

I had dinner here recently as part of a night out with friends from school. The Park Bistro is some way out of Linlithgow itself and is opposite the Union Canal. It makes for an attractive setting. I had the nachos to start with which I found to be quite greasy. I love nachos however on this occasion the nacho chips themselves seemed to have absorbed a fair amount of grease and so weren't particularly enjoyable. I wouldn't choose them again. I had the veggie burrito as a main course and it was delicious. As with the nachos, it was a decent sized portion. I can't remember what I had for dessert but it was ok. The service was good also. Overall an enjoyable meal and I would go back.

Lunched with friends. GF burger was very good, but service was a bit slow especially for dessert. The air con was only turned on after I requested it when everyone around us was complaining of the heat!

Had a gorgeous lunch here . Really really nice and served by friendly staff. I think inside a bit tired decor and dont think waiting staff need such formal wear for lunch . Having said that I will be back and can only say if you have not been give it a try . All food served was delicious..

We had an evening meal booked here after a 26 mile bike ride to the Falkirk Wheel. As soon as we arrived the staff brought a big jug of iced water - perfect! The meal was tasty and fresh and plentiful and served by very friendly and helpful staff. Most of our group finished with coffee but I decided against it but the lovely waiter brought me a piece of Scottish tablet in case I felt left out!! Fantastic! Would recommend without hesitation. Hope to come back again soon - thank you for making our visit so enjoyable!

Recently visited the Park Bistro, was met at the door by an older lady who right of the bat gave the impression that we were just an inconvenience turning up when we did as the Bistro was really busy due to the nice sunny weather. The lady took our drinks order then it seems she just left it to one of the younger servers to pick up what she started.

Having just moved to the area we have enjoyed two great meals here whilst out walking our dog. There is seating outside with lovely views over fields and the canal, perfect for watching passing barges. Dogs are welcome in this area. Both our meals have been lovely and my dairy free diet was no problem. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. We look forward to many more meals at the Park Bistro!

This place exceeded expectations. My wife were looking for a food venue and a place to walk afterwards. We made a last minute decision to try the Park Bistro on the Union Canal just outside Linlithgow town centre.

We had dinner here on. Friday evening and it exceeded all expectations! I enjoyed my haddock and chips ~ my first fish and chips of this visit. It was a lovely evening so after dinner we were able to stroll along the Canal for a bit. Wonderful food, great service and a perfect atmosphere. Thanks Park Bistro ~ I hope to visit again next time I’m in Scotland. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I come here pretty often, usually the food was quite tasty, but recently I have ordered "the Thai sizzler with beef", which appeared to be nothing else, but a few bits of chewy beef swimming in literally a bowl of overally sugary sweet and sour sauce, just like the one you can get from a jar. Even though the dish is called a sizzler, I did not see any sizzling, just that cheap sauce... If I got a dish like this from a chinese takeway I would still be extemely dissapointed (the difference is, that a chinese takeaway would cost half the price!).

Visited this restaurant last week. It’s in a nice spot by the Union Canal. I ordered the salmon and smoked haddock tart followed by the vegetable tortilla with skinny fries. Both dishes were disappointing lacking any form of flavour. This was unfortunate because my family enjoyed the dishes they had ordered.

Taken out for tea on Mother’s Day and had a very nice meal from the specials menu. The place was busy as expected - they have a good (indoor) play area for younger family members. Always good value and with friendly staff.

The cafe is now 'permanently closed' as part of Sainsbury's disastrous cost cutting measure. It may be that Livingston will be one of the supermarkets to get one of the promised replacements (it's a big Sainsbury's) but as of April/May 2022, there is no café.

Ordered 2 Fish Suppers. Service was quick. Fish was freshly cooked but the batter wasn't crisp. Chips were soggy. 'I'm no expert' but I think an oil change may be needed. At £8.50 each, it was edible & reasonable value.

Perfect for occasion and great staff. We hired the function room for a wake. The food was amazing the staff were there and helpful but not over the top. There were leftovers and they helped us take them home plus they didn't rush us out even though there were only a small number of us. They were just amazingly hospitalable. Lovely people, lovely venue and highly recommend.
