Papa's Peri Peri in St Albans

We eat here from our office at work 3 times a week minimum, but have had enough of their service, ordered £30 food asked for an extra sauce and they had the cheek to ask for 3op on a card transaction

My absolute favourite takeaway. I used to order from here every week. Definitely recommend the Peri Peri Chicken Wrap. I've moved house now, 5 hours away, but can't find any Peri peri place as good as this one. I still come back to St Albans sometimes and always go back to this takeaway. Their special sauce is amazing, in fact my partner bought me 20 pots of it, because I love it so much.

Always my go to takeaway. The peri peri chicken wrap will always be my favourite takeaway and ill always recommend people to go here for food. Open until late everyday, great delivery time and great even in store. Abit Inconvenient to find parking but its worth the walk 100%. The peri peri wrap, peri peri burger, peri peri donner. And the 2 burger and chips deals are my favourite on the menu, having returned multiple times. Note: Food isnt too spicy, very good for someone that doesnt like really hot food, although the extra hot is good for someone who does.

Any one using your card in thai shop be carefull as I was ordering on uber eats and with in seconds this man called claiming to be from uber eats with broken English he proceeded to ask question uber would not ask and when questioned he cut of and canceled my order I will report to uber

Just disgusting... greasy horrible chicken

Was looking forward to fresh chicken and when the delivery came we were surprised with raw chicken the box disintegrated on unpacking from the chickens raw juices soaking the box can’t believe they sold us this

Food was mediocre at best and chicken burgers had hard burnt bits from the grill that scratched our throats on the way down, service was great though and not much is to be said about the atmosphere. Naturally, finding parking is very difficult in this area, your best bet it to hope for a space across the road near the little cafe

Good food and friendly enough staff but for how many people they have in the kitchen it takes forever for your food to be made.

Low review due to the doner kebab, it was so poor. Chips were okay, but the doner tasted pretty awful and different to any other place I’ve had a doner before. Sauce for the chips was good and staff were nice. Felt pricey, but probably just because the kebab was really poor.

Fantastic quality chicken very succulent with adequate moisture. The second the first piece of chicken reached my lips I was immediately entranced by a sudden burst of vivd flavour dancing on my tongue like a grand peformance. My pallate was persitstenyly refined after every bite and i was left tremendously moved after i finished my meal fast good service would definitely reccomend

Love this place. Me and my partner come here all the time and its delicious. Crispy fries. Succulent chicken. Perfect spice. Delicious food and very good price. Bit ropey inside but amazing for takeaway. We come here over Nando’s ! £21 for a whole chicken, two chips, rice, 4 wings and drinks. Amazing value.

Staff are very rude; they will not offer you a deal at the end of the night. They overprice their food compared to competitors and are not willing to strike a deal at the point of sale even if they have ran out of the particular item you are loooking for. I would not recommend the chicken shop, they are expensive because it’s St Albans and service is rude.

Didn't have any chicken (at 5pm) so was offered 6 wings and chips instead of the chicken and chips I wanted, not the end of the world. Got home to find 5 chicken wings, and a handful of cold greasy chips that were obviously cooked hours ago and then given a quick fry again when I ordered it. £6.50 for what i got is an absolute p1ss take. Shop was pretty minging too. Definitely won't be going back.

This place used to be sooo nice, but they've changed the chips to nasty, also quarter pounders on there own £4.50 is well over priced (to be honest not that great either). You may aswel throw your money in the road, be healthier

Before I write my review, a steak is cut of meat against the fibre, can be chicken or beef, generally its considered beef and a fried nugget (compounded chicken parts) is not a cut of chicken despite what a supplier might call it. But this is my experience today; although usually getting my order wrong, I persevered and again went back and ordered food for the princely sum of £7.50, paneer wrap hot, chips and a drink plus one piece of chicken. The paneer wrap tasted of lemon and herb (must have run out of hot) with some hot something added but not masking the original taste. Chips, do you think we don't know when they are re-heated left over from the last order? They are saturated in oil and have no flavour left. The chicken was chicken but no chilli sauce available (why)? Reading the other reviews I suspect a reply as disrespectful to your customer as the food you are so willing to sell to them. Sub standard, unacceptable yuck, for which I will not be returning for. The disdain from behind the counter is palatable and reflects in the appalling service, (unless you have confused me for someone who has offended you in the past)? I don't know what has happened to this place or what savings there are from not always using fresh chips, not having the options on the menu available so making do and the mystery of the chilli sauce, is it that expensive to make? I was going to call back in and complain but quite frankly there is no pleasure in a visit so hopefully this will serve as my complaint, look forward to your reply.

Ordered peri peri chicken it was good and spicy rice were not so spicy but i enjoyed my food. They should increase their portion size as i paid around 10 pounds and it wasnt sufficient for two persons

Ordered steak burger as mentioned on their site under impressing that its beef as thst is norm, collected and went home, turned out to fried big chicken nugget inside, called them and asked about it, the guy was so arrogant, refused to take back or refund nor offer any alternative and goes had I asked, he would have told me. Putting something on menu and providing something else is cheating not business. He goes that they sell chicken steak burger, now there is some basic definition of steak either of beef or chicken, attached is the pic of a big nugget fried in oil, as likely as to be a steak as if I am from Mars!

Used to be value for money, ordered as treat for granddaughter evey Friday, 2 piece chicken meal deal. The price for this has shot up from £4.50 for chicken meal to £6.00!!. Won't be ordering anytime soon. Quality of food is OK but not worth what they're now charging.

Food is ok'ish. Nothing outstanding - run of the mill fast food stuff. Staff are not. Very cold, and clearly have no clue about customer service or about the business itself. I called one day to place an order and was told they don't accept telephone orders after 10pm. I called another day (at 8pm) and was told they don't accept telephone orders at all! When challenged - guy very reluctantly and rudely took the order. Who doesn't accept telephone orders? Very confusing.

Worst takeaway order I have ever made. I ordered whole chicken and fries and coleslaw. Promptly delivered so no problem there. The chicken was not peri peri chicken. it was chicken with peri peri sauce on it. It was bland and unappetising. The chips were like fried cardboard and the coleslaw tasted like fish. It was all thrown in the bin.

Ordered food from these guys and 3 chickens were missing I called them up and they showed no respect and was being very rude to me. They took no action to resolve the problem and took my money for less then what I was supposed to get. DO NOT EVER BUY FROM HERE THEY ARE FRAUDS AND THEY DONT GIVE YOU THE FULL AMOUNT OF CHICKEN THAT YOU PURCHASED and quality of service is very very bad

Ordered a takeaway with these guys and I saw 2 pieces of chicken missing. Called back and the guy was having an argument with me claiming he put it in and that they never make mistakes before he cut the phone on me. No sorry, took my money and I didn't get what I ordered. People of St.Albans please don't order from this place!!!!

Chips had a nice flavour, as did the chicken 'strips' but the strips were so small for £5 including chips and drink, unlikely to order again as the quality overall was not great, one of the 5 strips was twice the size of the other 4, smaller than my fingers

Ordered off just eat Driver rude expected my 17 year old son to walk down the road to meet him to collect his food in the dark then got even ruder when it was explained that was unacceptable . Have heard similar regarding their poor manners but chose to give them the benefit of the doubt , however will not be ordering from them in the future.

Very unaccommodating staff, had BBQ chicken strips which clearly been cooked in the microwave and coated with tasteless watery sauce and few chips for a meal, disappointing .

DO NOT TRUST JUST EAT REVIEWS. Never trust food reviews by middle class british white people. Britain clearly has no clue about food. This place was horrible, over priced and just bad. The grilled chicken was soggy, the fried chicken looked and tasted like pigeon, chips were grim.

Ordered for collection said will be ready in 10 minutes I arrived 15 minutes after placing the order and they didn’t even start preparing the food, could clearly see they where doing other orders and the rude person on the till said ‘take a seat I will make now’ Overall 40 minutes to get a meal which should of taken 10 mins. Food is substandard won’t be going back.

Order over an hour ago, TRIED to pay with a £20 note and met with embarrassment because the delivery driver and I quote "it feels fake" after showing him the signs of a real note. Anyways I wont be ordering from here again, ridiculous really.

I ordered for delivery through just eat. Was delivered quick which is good. Chips were awful, soggy and not fresh. Chicken was mediocre. There's just too many chicken places better in st.albans, maybe it's better if you pick it up in store but I don't know. Wouldn't order for delivery again. Tip if you are going to deliver sauces. Make sure they are sealed, I do not want a chili sauce and mayo covered hand before I even start to eat. I might try the peri peri chicken. But it would have to be truly amazing In order for an extra star or two. Especially with Murganos just down the road... To sum it up in one word "Disappointing"

Your everyday peri peri salted chicken and chips. Decent affordable menu.

Reasonably priced food. Burgers are cooked fresh and taste excellent. Especially the piri piri extra hot. The chips are some of the best chips for a fast food place I have possibly ever come across.

It's 22.23 I have been waiting 3hrs for a partial refund as the guy by mistake dropped a large quantity of coleslaw on my carpet...point I've rang three times now...second time he had forgot to write down my number and said it to me...2hrs later nothing...still nothing 22.24 where are you..i live less that 8 mins away!! Never again!!! Go retrain in customer service

This place is unreal. If you need food go, go now. Put down thy telephonics, go now. I was in dire need of food, post beer festival. I spoke gibberish, and I was fed chicken, the strips, ala KFC. But better. No money changed hands, they saw my need was great. I saw fed a strip, and another, and by my might, ANOTHER, still without the passing of money! I don't know what metric of a meal was established, but I consumed yet more chicken and I paid a fair (less than expected) price. Then I had MORE CHICKEN. And a can of orange tango. With great blessings, I found six free hot wings (which are not the standard small wings, these were mutated monstrosities almost the size of a drum stick, gently spiced and of maximal satisfaction) in with the strips. Excelentissomo. a place of safety and indulgence for the drunk man. Cannot recommend enough.

Terrible service, my chicken wrap had foil glittered all over and they refused to acknowledge a problem, refused to replace/refund, hung up and stopped answering my calls.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Food was horrible and cold and undercooked. So rude on the phone and delivered to the wrong place then blamed it on us and made it out to be our fault. Would never order again.

Had meal here last night. Food was very nice. Good service. Friends enjoyed the food. 5 stars.

I called and placed an order for 5 work colleagues an myself and was told the delivery time would be an hour. This wasn't ideal but we were all eating in so we could carry on with our work in the mean time. I called after an hour, an hour and 15, and hour and 25 mins and was told repeatedly that the deliver driver was on his way and that they were quite busy. I unfortunately had to go out of the office before the delivery came so went without lunch. I have spoken to my work colleagues this morning and they all complained about the quality of not only the chicken but all of the sides. We will NEVER order from this company again and wish we could have our money refunded as the quality and service this place provides is substandard.
