Service was horrendous, waitress not interested, no dialogue, overpriced, maianaise served in a refilled dirty Heinze bottle, definitely not filled with Heinze, £39 two meals and two drinks, overpriced, when we paid no conversation at all, definitely won't be going back, use to be very good a few years ago, must be new owners, avoid

Two regular fish and chips £26.00 for a take away. Extremely expensive for the little fish we were given, lots of chips. Would have got better value, with similar quality in the pavilion. £8.00 for there fish and chip meal at lunch time.

Never again! Took family from USA for lunch, we each ordered different meals. Waitress came and served our food only for another waitress come and take it away just as we were about to start as she said it was for the next table. Took the meals back into the kitchen only to bring them straight back saying as we had already put salt and vinegar on we may as well have them but without anything being said took a pot of peas away off the table as we were eating. Due to the confusion it turned out the meals were not what we ordered and when we questioned the waitress with the oversized hat she was extremely rude. All in all this was a total farce and we will not be returning and definitely not be recommending. Shame we have to give one star to post the review as we wouldn’t give any.

The staff were very nice But the fish and chips were awful the chips were very bland and the fish very dry with terrible batter. It was quite expensive too I would try somewhere else I’m sorry to say it was worse fish and chips I’ve had for ages.

Not a good experience. Took 20 minutes to be served and then informed sparkling mineral water not a soft drink! Bad attitude by waitress - will not return. Price for Senior Citizens lunch also not updated on their website.

Best fish and chips we have had in a very long time. Super attentive and friendly staff really looked after us and the Cod and Chips was super fresh and cooked perfectly. We also had the classic mushy peas and curry sauce which completed our dinner.. Thank you we will be back when next in town

I agree with other reviewers the staff( a woman) was abrupt and no smile although she did serve me quickly. She suggested I have a 'special deal' today of smaller fish, kids size, and I asked how small she said ' standard'. Confused but agreed . When it arrived it was a perfectly normal size and appeared on the menu as normal not large serving. Not on the special deal at all. The chips were delicious and the haddock was very good , lovely thick white fish but the batter was thin and tasteless, skin on fish so difficult to cut through the bottom. It didn't taste like traditional fish and chips at all, I would not say it was a great chippy and the price was higher than usual. Wouldn't go back again, don't know what the rave reviews are about.

The food was excellent and well presented. The staff were very attentive nothing to much trouble. The best fish and chips we have had.

The range of fish on offer with specials such as skate or whole bass when we went are surprising. We had the haddock and plaice which were beautifully battered and the mushy peas were lovely. The food was so good that we cancelled another booking for a few nights later and went here twice ! Not disappointed at all.

Had takeaway fish and chips at 57 yrs old have to say the best I have ever had. Service wa fantastic the batter on the fish was so nice.

Called in after being recommended , for lunch before a hospital appointment . We live an hour away so we were ready for lunch ! We were NOT disappointed . Smaller “pensioners” meal was plentiful, fish was fresh and perfectly cooked ( Mum and I both cooked professionally and can be quite critical -apparently ) service was friendly , lovely and warm with background music ... a really pleasant atmosphere ... can’t wait for next appointment so we can come back !

We arrived at 6.50pm for a show starting at 7.30pm. Served very quickly by the amazing staff-they put real effort into getting out the food on time. Beautiful succulent fresh cod, crispy chips and mushy peas-lovely! Relaxed dining atmosphere in a traditional fish and chip shop.

Visited Papas a few years ago & it was good then. This time it was much better. Delicious & worth paying extra for. It really is the best fish & chips.

We turned up here at 12 noon for a bag of takeaway chips and it was packed! Little wonder why, gorgeous food served with real love. I don’t know if you can book but would recommend you do if you want to sit down.

After googling best place for Fish n Chips for our last day of our holiday Papa’s came up as Top Form. So we walked the very short walk from the sea front to have a sit down meal of Fish n Chips as we have 2 little pickles under the age off 3 years old. The place is lovely. The staff are soooo nice and helpful and very chatty in a good way. The place was busy for takeaways aswell as sit down service orders but all managed efficiently. The people who work there obviously love it which makes the place even better and the food was lovely too. Definitely recommend & not surprised it is voted one of the best locally. Great atmosphere, clean, lovely food, even lovelier staff ☺️.

Desperate for food after driving from Yorkshire on our way home to Devon we took a trip into Weson-super-Mare late on a Saturday night. By chance we came across Papa's and what a great experience. Very clean kitchen with friendly staff. Severed us with the best fish and chips ever to have been cooked. The meat pies were also good, a first class place. Keep up the good work.

We walked from the old pier to the Aquarium and then for the best Cod and Chips in the West Country.

As it was going to be the last best day before the rain and cold set in we went to Weston-super-Mare specifically for a fish and chip lunch. We googled “best fish and chips” and were given Papa’s as a result, and found it not far from the main shopping mall. It’s not huge, but half the tables were occupied at 1145, so we sat down and ordered 3 meals. The rolls were neigh on impossible to cut as they were so fresh, and our meals came quite quickly and I have never had such an excellent piece of fish in batter, it had no grease or oily slick as many others have and I was able to cut and pick up bits to eat. The fish was large, fresh and tasty, the chips were just like homemade ones, and there was silence on the table....... the staff were polite, friendly and efficient, this is one place I’d go again. On our way out the door was blocked by people trying to get in, but all the tables were full, however they do a takeaway service, which would be the next best thing.

The fish and chips I had here were the best I've ever had! The batter and the chips were crispy and both soft in the middle.

This is the go to chippy! Fresh chips, crispy fish and a wide selection of pies, sausages etc! Always a big queue for a reason, well worth the wait!

When in Weston we regularly visit Papas ... never disappoints ... the best fish and chips around and great service too.

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime. A short wait whilst we waited for a table to become available. Space is limited and tables quite tightly packed. Service was very good and the fish and chips extremely good. Portion sizes are generous. Would definitely return. 4 stars rather than 5 due to my feeling that they could remove a table to create more space but also that prices are a bit toppy.

we love this place and regularly do the hours drive from Cardiff to eat their fish and chips. They are always friendly with quick service excellent fish and reasonable prices.I cannot recommend them enough

I went there to celebrate my move to Weston, friends from my Appartment block came along, we have a really enjoyable meal. the staff were lovely and the food was exceptional.

I'm very surprised at the high rating of this fish and chips restaurant. We ordered the OAP special and was pleased with the quantity of our food. The chips were average but was let down by the quality of the cod. Very thin and not that great taste. At these specialty fish and chip restaurants you expect a certain quality of fish. This, I'm sorry to say failed. If this is the best in Weston you need to get out and try some proper fish and chips. Sorry. Not inedible, just average.

Visited Papas on the Friday evening to be met by a very efficient team which included the owner, the fish and chips were excellent would definitely visit again when in the area

We usually use Winstons for Fish and Chips but decided to try somewhere else for a change, we chose here due to tripadvisor. A nice looking place when we arrived with a take away and a sit down area, most is cooked to order so you do experience a short wit. Great chips and everything else we ordered was good.

Visited Weston with family and decided to try somewhere different for chips. Decided to go to Papa's based on the TripAdvisor reviews. We arrived and impressed by the standard of the restaurant. We decided to have a takeaway and the chips were cooked to perfection and not greasy. We also have 2 battered sausages, fish cakes and chicken nuggets all of which were fabulous. Will be visiting again when next in the area.

We had family visiting from New Zealand, and took a trip out to Weston-Super-Mare. Wanted to experience a typical good seaside fish and chips for lunch so looked on trip advisor and found Papa's which seemed to have very good reviews. Walked from seafront and found it. The cafe was very busy but a family of four were just leaving and so we waited thinking that although we were 6 adults and 2 babies in pushchairs, we would be accommodated! However we were greeted by a very rude and somewhat aggressive Eastern European lady who told us that she'd asked how many and we said 6 but she moaned at us that we should have told her 8!!! I find this incredible as the 2 babies were just in pushchairs!!! Everything seemed too much trouble for her and so we said that we would leave due to her terrible attitude!! Bearing in mind that this was no cheap cafe as fish and chips on the menu was £12.75 per person, so you would expect to have better service. We then went to the local Wetherspoons and had absolutely gorgeous fish and chips and mushy peas for £7 with excellent service bearing in mind they were extremely busy.

Found it through trip advisor. Was not disappointed. The fish was the best iv had for a long time. As a family we all enjoyed our tea. Thoroughly recommend.

Called in on the off chance to have lunch, got the last table for 2 good welcome , menus left with us, ordered Scampi and Chips with side salad, and one Lunch time special Fish Chips Bread Roll and soft drink or tea / coffee inc.

We are a large group of mums and children - Papa’s made room for all 13 of us without any fuss at all.

This was recommend to us what a find the most delicious fish and chips to take out or eat in they also do other foods pies or steak but try their Sea Bream or Bass we booked at table and had a great meal but watch out for the puddings if on a calorie controlled diet brilliant

We sat in the restaurant for the best fish and chips and can not wait to come back and maybe have takeaway next time. Papas came highly recommended by friends of ours and they weren't wrong. Great service too.

After a short walk from the beach, this is the best fish & chips I’ve had for ages. Whole family enjoyed it, friendly faces greeted us, great little restaurant, definitely worth a trip.

We arrived here after hearing from a local that these were the best in town and had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated as it was busy.

10 adults and 6 kids had a wonderful family meal at Papa's yesterday. Excellent and warm customer service all round especially considering 6 potentially raucious kids ! The cod and haddock were very good and decent portions. A thoroughly marvellous finish to one of the best days of the year and we are already planning to revisit the excellent Weston beach and Papa's before the summer is out !

The food was well cooked but the prices are very high, especially compared to other outlets in town. It is a popular choice of restaurant with a very traditional and dated seaside town decor. The menu is limited and uninspirational for the prices charged.

This was our first time visiting Papa’s and it won’t be the last! The fish and chips were perfectly cooked and fresh to order. Very friendly staff and great location around the corner from the Playhouse theatre and close to the sea front.

For the last few years we have been coming here once or twice a year when we visit Weston Super Mare on a day trip. Sometimes you have to wait for a table but it is worth the wait. The chips are lovely and the flaky white cod is in a batter that stays crisp to the last bite. The staff are very friendly and the meals are consistently good and very good value

Took my family here on the Somerset Life recommendation of the 11 top fish and chip places in Somerset - I have NO idea how Papa’s beat Bath’s Scallop Shell in the running!

Great food, friendly staff, decent price - definitely the best fish and chips in Weston super mare, just off the high street, take away and sit in, if you’re getting a take away be prepared to queue as everyone knows it’s the best place to go.

We went to Papa's for lunch. We were greeted by a rather surly waitress who wasn't exactly overflowing with charm. Fortunately, another waitress was so she made up for the grumpy one.

Very attractive looking restaurant with both take away and sit in. We opted for a take away. Our order was taken by a nice lad and waited for our order to be cooked, when ready he started to serve us, he was joined by a chap with a curious moustache who was very abrupt with him as trying to belittle him, not clever.

A desent Fish and Chip Restrant well set out quick servive , anf desent portions too, Very ogten have to qu to take away but worth the wait, BLACK MAMBA )

Now I've driven 2 hours to eat fish and chips here... and it's been worth the drive.

I love going to Papa’s for my fish and chips but this visit was a bit disappointing. The chips were cooked too long so they became too crispy instead of soft and there wasn’t enough vinegar on the chips for the yummy taste.

My wife took me to Papa's earlier this year informing me that I would have the best fish and chips I had ever tasted. As usual she was right and we have been back twice since, travelling from Gloucester, The food is as good as that! Being a Yorkshireman I profess to know a bit about fish and chips. I always thought The Magpie at Whitby the top of the tree, in my view it still is but no longer alone, Papa's is every bit as good. For seniors such as us they do a good deal up until 5 o'clock Monday to Saturday. The service is excellent but if you go between 12 and 2 or after 6 you will probably need to queue for a short time. You can certainly find cheaper fish and chips but hey in this life we generally get what we pay for! Highly recommend and I am sure you will find the as we do a great experience every time.

After passing several sea front chippers and smelling rancid overcooked oil we decided to seek out the best chip shop in Weston. But who to ask, well, we asked Tilly & Gracie the donkeys but they weren't sure, however, the donkey lady said, go to Papa's so we did.

As the title says the chips were excellent and the service was excellent. Based on the excellent reputation of the place and the class of the building and professional attire of the staff I thought this might be an expensive visit - very wrong! It’s very well priced, very good portion size and the gentleman who served us was impeccable! Nothing was too much trouble and lovely chips to boot too. Well worth a trip

I can’t rate this place highly enough. Friendly staff, the perfect flaky fish with crisp batter, freshly cooked chips. The curry sauce is heavenly. It may be more expensive than some of the nearby chippies, but you get what you pay for. This is superb. We live 30 miles away and regularly drive to Papa’s for our fishy fix!

This is a small fish and chip shop with tables inside. Ridiculously high prices for average quality fish and chips. A simple meal with pots of tea cost £32!!!! Whilst there saw several couples walk in, look at the price list, then walk out. Wetherspoons on the sea front does the same for £17.

We visit this restaurant, based on the good reviews from here , and was a good choice. The food was really good , we had a steak and a large haddock. Good food , good value for money.

Had their haddock and chips & the large catch of the day when staying up in Weymouth. Had a bit of trouble finding it but when we did was well worth it. Could not fault anything as it was lush. Would recommend it to anybody who wants good quality fish and well cooked chips.

Came here for fish and chips at lunch time. We wanted to sit in and eat them. The place was full and there was a que waiting. The owner kept chatting to us and made us feel valued , while waiting for a table he came out with tasters to keep us going till a table came available. The fish and chips were excellent and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Well recommend coming back

Read your reviews and thought that this would be the best place for us. There was no table for us when we arrived but the servers at the take away counter were friendly and offered us battered mushrooms while we were waiting. Very nice touch!

Was recommended to visit here by a friend that had lived locally. Well what can I say...the fish was ok, Huss and cod, although the super sized cod had a lot of batter. Um chips....not to our taste. They were dry tasting. I don’t know if they had been over cooked or if that is how they usually are.

Me and my mum went to Weston super Mare on Sunday with Middleton's Coaches from Tamworth. We were looking for a good fish and chip shop where we could sit in and enjoy a proper meal. There were lots of fish and chips on the front and they all looked nice but we had been told Papa's was the place (no pun intended) to go to. And they were right. Lovely restaurant, a bit hard to find but we got there. Very attentive waiting on staff, nothing too much trouble. Mum had the special which was £10 for older persons and I had fish and chips, we both had bread rolls and butter and a super cup of tea, best I had all day. I have to say the fish and chips were delicious, extremely fresh, the fish was very white and flakey and totally delicious. I would highly recommend. It is a little bit pricey but if you want quality, you have to pay for it. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Papa's in Weston Super Mare never fails to satisfy. Consistant quality and service of the highest order. If you are prepared to pay above normal prices this is the place to eat. My only criticism is the slightly cramped tables but otherwise faultless. You certainly won't leave feeling hungry. Cod chips, roll and butter, and a pot of tea, what more can you ask for? Treat yourself. You won't regret it. The same quality applies for take out. It is your choice.

Four of us had lunch here. The portions are very big, in fact a little bit too big if you've only got a small appetite. The fish and chips are very tasty. I do think quite expensive as well...your unable to reserve a table which quite upset my mother in law.

Whilst enjoying a weekend away in Weston we decided to grab some fish and chips. Like any seaside town you are almost spoilt for choice when it comes to fish and chips however we chose papa’s and so so glad we did.

I had done a bit of research on trip advisor before visiting Weston super mare and everyone was raving about papas! I can totally see why I have never had such good fish and chips all freshly cooked staff where very friendly quite reasonable in price.

I have visited lots of times- other chip shops can’t compare! Would drive further to come here. Had the cod last time which I don’t usually have and it was amaaaazing!
