Papa Johns Pizza in Maldon

Not helpful at all when calling the store. Said that the pizza is still in the oven when the app said it had been delivered

Order placed at 7.04 and did not arrive until 8.45. I was waiting to feed my young daughter and would not have placed the order if I had know the wait would be that long. When I called the shop they said that they were busy.

Ordered a thin crust pepperoni pizza. Crust was soggy and pepperoni was undercooked.

Shocking timing for delivery, we are 20 mins away, waiting 40 called the store they said the driver will be 10 mins, still waiting 15 mins later.

Estimated delivery time 22.40. Called 22.45, told 30 minutes and they would give me a side for free. Arrived at 23.30…. By which point I didn’t really want what was delivered. Poor service and I won’t use them again.

Just moved in today and never had Papa John’s will definitely order again it was lovely

Thought I’d try papa johns Estimated 8:05 delivery arrived 8:50. Not worth the wait

Waited for over 90mins for delivery and when received the order was completely incorrect

Very nice staff very accommodating and lovely pizza yummy yummy.

The quality of the food was spot on and has been the other couple of times we’ve ordered!

My first time ordering from this place as I am new to the area and oh my goodness the whole experience has been awful. I placed n order through urber eats at 6pm hoping it would be here soon after that. It gets to 8pm and I call up the shop they tell me that “we’re waiting on a driver” I ask them “is it a urber driver or your drivers he replied “urber, call back in 40 mins if it doesn’t arrive” I agree and I have been on the phone for 15 minutes trying to get hold of someone, while I’m on the phone it says on urber my order has been completed and it has not. I’m still on the phone with no one answering the phones.

Ordered via just eat, over 2 hours later no pizza, we had 2 mobile phones calling them simultaneously and hung up after listening to it ringing for over 35 minutes. Nothing arrived, no updates, restaurant not picking up the phone, they've taken the money so now I have the wrangle to get that back. Zero customer service and shouldn't be able to use the Papa John's name

Unfortunately a bad experience was had Can't rate the food as it never arrived Can only describe the service as none existent as they never answered the phone (order placed at 20:05, phone just rings until they pick up to hang up.. currently 22:15) Will not be ordering from here again 👎

Order did not turn up, asked for an order update via the app when it was 30 mins late, no update given, we had 2 mobile phones simultaneously calling them and nobody picking up, just ringing and ringing for 22 mins before we finally hung up. This was the first and last order from this unprofessional place, refund had better be given

the food turned up late for me and my bed bound mum there was only one bit of meat on the cheesy meaty chips and the pizza was shiny and covered in greese we tried to call but was answered by a delivery person

Food arrived 45 mins late barely warm, some of my order was missing rang shop to be told the driver delivered some of my order to someone else, yes they replaced it, was the first time I’ve ordered from here and certainly won’t be doing it again,

As always… at least one thing wrong/incorrect with the order. Tonight they missed off a whole bottle of drink. The driver called the store and said he’d fix it. He came back and said he’d be back with what was missing in 10 Mins (the store is 20 mins away) so he was clearly going to any shop he could find open nearby. He came back with full fat Pepsi when we ordered Pepsi max … couldn’t even be bothered to argue. Order from squares and circles instead… I just wish they were open Mondays!

2 hours and the food has still not arrived. Second time this has happened now. Unacceptable

Overly service and food than you

I had to end up walking to papa johns to pick it up as was over an hour late. When I picked it up the pizza was not what I expected at all. Was told I’d get a refund within 5 days and haven’t had anything. Will be coming in soon and not for another pizza!

Third and last time trying to get a pizza delivered. Called after ordering pizzas 50mins before as the app was showing as delivered for 10mins and hadn’t come. Was advised they aren’t even started making the pizzas, just quite poor really don’t accept orders if you can’t fulfil them it’s not rocket science.

After an hour and a half (over half an hour after the app told me the food as delivered) I phoned the restaurant to find out my meal hadn't even been prepped yet. Asked to cancel the order and process a refund. Still waiting on that refund..

Very lucky that the pizza we waited over 2 hours for was delicious. I understand it’s a Saturday night and busy but 2 hours is a little bit unreasonable.

It's the first time we have ever ordered papa John's & will be the last. We have waited well over a hour for our food. It's still not been delivered. All we ordered was 2 pizzas & chicken wings. Really not happy with the service.

My order was very late - they forgot a special garlic dip. We ordered extra mozzarella but there was hardly any on at all - dred to think how much you get if you don't order extra!Would say a lot more but not room!Totally discusted, want money back!!

Carefull when ordering through uber eats as they will prepare the food without having a driver available and you cant cancel without paying for the whole order so unless you want to wait for hours ans still not get your food, and wait for 3 days to get your money back steer clear

The tracker told me my food had arrived when it was only just being put in the oven. The toppings were very sparse but other than that we really loved the food

Wouldn’t know about the quality as it never turned up despite phoning and being told it would be with us in 15mins!!!

Was ok, what you expect from papa johns. But their delivery was terrible. I phoned to ask where it was and no apology just that it’s on its way. Was 45mins later than expected, not happy and no compensation for it being late. Being a Monday, not a traditional busy day?

Food was was almost 2 hours late, told this was because of heavy traffic? Its Sunday night in Maldon, there was no traffic. Terrible customer service on the phone.

Pizza was good, but staff are rude, unhelpful and should not be working with customers!! I would not recommend this store at all and you would be better off having a frozen pizza just so you don't have to deal with there disgusting behaviour and attitude towards there customers.

Took almost 3 hours for delivery! Phoned up after an hour to be told an extra 40 mins due to broken down car but still took a further 2 hours!

Food was perfectly fine (temp) and the driver was nice but food did arrive 20mins after the estimated time frame so I was starting to think my food had been delivered to the wrong house because it said it had been delivered after the estimated time frame passed. However, as the food left the store late im sure the workers compensated so I got a free side - overall good:)

The food was cold and over 1 hour later than the latest time in the order time frame. How can this not constitute a refund??? I had kids and family members starving hungry waiting to then get cold food over 2 hours after we ordered. The restaurant is 5 minute drive from my house. Appalling. Please refund full amount.

First time order this evening and the last. Driver sat outside a neighbour’s house ignoring simple instructions. Admittedly we have a poor mobile reception but that didn’t explain why he couldn’t see our driveway opposite where he sat. Pizza was awful. Opted for a classic crust which was apparently not too thick not too thin but it was a thick, heavy lump of barely cooked dough. Toppings on one pizza (chicken, bacon, tomato & onion) were barely there and there was a strong after taste of grease which I’m not sure where it came from. Apparently the pepperoni wasn’t any better. Can nobody come up with a decent pizza in Maldon 🙄

Over 2 hours food still not arrived, no answer on phone or requests for updates, wish I’d read the reviews before ordering, lesson learned, avoid this take away

never answer the phone, pizza is never ever cut. they are just useless. staff on the phone are rude, im shocked you're still in business, owner needs a serious reality check and a reshuffle of staff.

The pizza arrived very late in the end and was the wrong toppings on the bbq chicken pizza it wasn’t bbq

They stated that the driver didnt turn up, even though when i first spoke with them, they didnt advise this and said the order would be leaving in 5 minutes, then after 30 mins it had just left?

1 hour 45 minutes for delivery that was avmdvertised under an hour. Pizza arrived Luke warm and not cut properly. Disappointing!

It’s a joke waiting over two hours for pizza and it said it was delivered, at 6.40pm we ordered it at 6pm but we haven’t received it yet and it’s now 8.10pm

delivery took over an hour and well outside the given estimates. It meant the pizzas were cold and hence we were left disappointed. £21 for for 2 cold pizzas is poor value plus the toppings were a bit sparse compared to other pizza establishments.

I prebooked my order 2pm on the 14th December 2024 for a delivery at 17.15 of 2 garlic pizza sticks many extra dips and a large works pizza with mushrooms taken off and sweetcorn add. Our food didn't show up until 17.40 which was annoying but it happens. Wasn't until my husband opened his pizza he had been given a regular works so had mushrooms and no sweetcorn he hates mushrooms. So called the store right away at approx 17.42. Was told I could have credit or a replacement pizza. I asked for a new pizza as my dinner was there getting cold and my husband was hungry was told he would do that right away Over an hour later still no pizza my food is now definitely cold! Called the store again just to be told he hadn't even started the pizza and could I wait another 20 minutes. I said absolutely not and to just give me a refund. Which I'm still waiting for? I just want the refund I was promised. It's now the 20th and still no refund customer service is very unhelpful and the store say they will call back then don't. Edit I did contact customer services many times very unhelpful. I have now been refunded but on due to PayPal stepping in!

Order was cold and hardly any pineapple on pizza

Long wait. Pizza was freezing cold. I nearly broke my teeth eating that pizza. I would rather eat the cardboard then pizza itself thats how cold it was after 1 hour wait

Ordered at 4.50 and didn't arrive until 7.20 - original estimate was 5.30. 2.5hrs for one pizza and side is ridiculous. I got a notification to say it was on it's way at 6 but by 6.30 I contacted the restaurant and my delivery time was amended to 6.55. The driver had trouble finding my address (not his fault) which added a bit of time, driver was very polite . When I got my order the food was stone cold. Also my pepsi was missing, phoned and offered refund for it, staff apologetic and polite.

Tried Papa John’s when it first opened and had a disappointed experience. Tried again tonight. Ordered online, an hour and 40 minutes later, after holding on the phone for half an hour without answering. We are done. Never again. Serious service issues an absolutely 0% customer service.

Had to collect the order myself after waiting 2 1/2 hours. Requested a refund and be told my card would be credited within 5 working days! The food is stone cold and they had so many orders and paper everywhere!

DO NOT USE. Awful. Food never turned up. When contacted after waiting an extra hour, said they were really busy and could put the order over for the next day.. doesn’t help when you’re waiting for your dinner. Absolutely useless.

I phoned store for an update to be told ‘the delivery driver left 5mins ago so the delivery will still be on time’ even though it was already 20mins late. Delivery driver then went to the completely wrong road, despite having our address. When the food eventually turned up (35mins after the end time for the delivery window), it was cold and cookies were burnt. Very average and disappointing.

The best pizza and the kindest staff! The best customer service! My dad accidentally ordered my pizza with vegetarian cheese instead of vegan cheese (I'm vegan). Thankfully I checked the label before eating it but I went to explain and ask to remake the same pizza with vegan cheese 🙈. I thought it was probably an error on our part but my dad couldn't pull up the email to check as signal wasn't great for the Internet. The lovely man in the shop very kindly offered to remake our pizza with vegan cheese for a reduced price and added 2 extra sauces for me 😊. Meanwhile, whilst the new pizza with vegan cheese was cooking, he put my starter and the vegetarian pizza (now for my dad) onto the heated surface to keep the food hot for me. The service and kindness is above and beyond! Thank you very much Seiaul 😊 from the Maldon branch (I apologise if I spelt your name wrong, I wrote it in my phone but it didn't save and my short-term memory isn't great).

Amazing mate allways better than domino’s and Pizza Hut

Was sceptical about going here after reading reviews but thought I'd try today as its walking distance for me, from time of placing order to getting my pizza was less than 10 mins, great! Pizza was cooked perfectly, generous toppings, not greasy and tasted fantastic! Not sure why they have some bad reviews as my experience was all good. Will use again!

Seems to be problem adding cheese to the pizza so I made sure to pay extra for extra cheese

the food just did not taste very nice, can't complain about the temperature but the overall taste wasn't very nice.

Ordered for 7:15pm for when a hungry child would be back from rugby training no food arrived contacted via app and message back saying at 7:45pm it was only just being prepared and would be delivered around 8:15pm.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a takeaway. Baring in mind this is a Sunday night order not a Friday night or any other peak time. I placed the order at around 8 pm earlier today and I was told it would be here anywhere from 8:35pm to 8:55pm. I called at 9:05pm asking about the whereabouts of my food as it was marked on delivered on just eat. The person on the phone took no responsibility and said that it would take another hour because they were busy. So the food would’ve arrived at 10pm with no consideration for my dinner that myself and my family were waiting for. I asked the person to cancel the order as there was no point now and who knows, that hour would’ve turned into a much longer time I’m sure. Please avoid this place and save yourself the hassle.

The papadia was full of grease and really hard shame it was not great at all compared to ones I've had before.

Order time pushed back within minutes of ordering. Arrived cold with missing items. Only up side was the delivery driver was very polite!

Over an hour late, when first rung told it was on the way, and they were busy, even though they accepted the order for delivery between 7:10-7:30! Rung again and told on its way and I would get a free bottle as compensation…. A free 500ml bottle of Pepsi, after waiting over an hour for the food to be delivered. If they were busy in the first place, don’t accept the food for an earlier time.

Absolutely loved it always so tasty and great value for money. Very much enjoyed the halloumi fries very tasty.

It said on here that my order had been delivered when it hadn’t. When I called papa johns they said they hadn’t even started it and this was already past the delivery time given.

Currently writing this review 2 hours after ordering my food it’s still not here apparently it left 40 minutes ago and is still not here yet definitely do not recommend you ever order a delivery from them awful awful awful

Ordered pizza online through uber eats, after waiting 1.5 hours and calling multiple times, we came to know no driver is available and they cancelled the order. Poor service and no order updates.

Ordered food and waited for 80 mts, tried contacting the store multiple times, later on they picked and mentioned they are cancelling the order as no driver for delivery.

Waited ages for my food made me late for work , it said my food was on its way then I called the store and they said it was just about to be made , last time I ordered food from papa johns it also took an extremely long time for my food to arrive. I waited 40 minutes the last time I ordered from the one maldon and that was when I was in cold Norton and now I’ve ordered form house in maldon it’s taken just the exact same about of time for me to get my food this is unacceptable I am late for work

The food was only ok at best. It was late when I called to question why the app said it had been delivered but we hadn’t received it and they said it would be another 15/20 minutes. We don’t live that far away, so it couldn’t have even left yet.
