Papa Johns Pizza in South Tyneside

Had a horrific experience from here recently. Appreciate that’s a strong word, but no other way to describe it. Ordered a vegetarian pizza only, but took it home to find it wasn’t what I ordered. I called thinking they would apologise and send out another. Instead, the manager goes that he has put on extra ham and chicken and starts laughing. You can hear his colleagues also laughing. I was genuinely appalled and said that it was no laughing matter. He continued to laugh and then put the phone down. No idea why they chose me to play this prank. Will be complaining to headquarters. Also, note the names of the ‘positive’ reviews. You may notice a common theme.

I have been waiting for 2 hours for my order I have rang the shop 3 times and he keeps saying no1 has been to pick my order up he keeps saying 5-10 mins and 2 hours later still waiting he’s not very helpful and I can hardlies understand what he is saying this is the first and last time I will ever order anything from papa johns the service has been absolutely atrocious!!

Ordered cheese and tomato pizza. Got notification 10 minutes before it arrived that I had my pizza, I didn't. Barely warm when it arrived, overcooked and dry. When I looked no tomato pizza sauce. Phoned shop and person laughed when I put forward my complaint, I wasn't laughing, very unprofessional. Said he'd cooked pizza himself and apparent it was "perfect" it definitely wasn't. Never ever had one from there this bad! Poor pizza, poor customer service, won't be ordering again!

Sent the wrong dips. Wrong crust on pizza. Toppings were poor quality.

Food never turned up, waited nearly an hour and a half, marked as delivered but never showed up, been on the phone trying to get through to the store and no one picks up, out of pocket, out of pizza and both my kids are wondering where dinner is absolute joke. Edit: been calling for half and hour and no one will answer the stupid phone, usually good but complete joke avoid like the plague unless you don't want your money and pizza.

This is like any other Pizza place, I find the Pizzas tasty, Service is as quick as x2 people can be. I find the 2 chaps to be polight, helpfull, and concentrate on there work, I find the Front of the Shop Clean and no broken stools or tiles, windows are clean, from what can see from back of house all seems in order. Worth a visit, take away only though.

The pizza order was made fresh whilst we waited and we didn’t wait too long. There are seats to sit. The shop was clean. There were cold drinks in the fridge. The staff were friendly and happy to tell you what offers were available and what the best deal was. We will return.

Multiple people in a food prep area with no work gear on, 1 pound extra as apparently I asked for extra cheese on the phone (I didn’t) pizza box also states original large pepperoni? No double? Pizza was below average shocking customer service when I asked about this and didn’t even offer to give change. Would not recommend

I ordered a medium barbaque chicken pizza for £20 for collection just after I ordered I phoned papa John to see if that's all I get for £20 it turned out it was 40 % off so I got it for £15.72 the pizza I ordered was supposed to be a family meal when i inquiried about it and tried to cancel my order it was to late it had been cooked andt I needed to contact just eat my order was for a medium pizza not a 9 inch shocking I could have ordered many for that price

Ordered the sausage & pepperoni large pizza, was luke warm and had little to no taste, the dough was overly chewy indicating that it was rushed and undercooked, despite there being no one else in there…

somehow managed to lose my pizza. Poor communication, no apology, poor service. Really poor customer service, wont be returning.

Ordered online and collected in 15min. Ok pizza i get papajohns all over the country when working and this was ok. Ive been coming alot as pass more and the toppings are becoming very scarce like wartime rationing. Not much cheese these days. Great deals on collection small pizza though +2 toppings 4.99 Med 6.99.

I order from Papa johns South shields regularly and have never had any issues with any of my orders. I like that the pizzas are consistently well flavoured and give at least double or triple the toppings than places like Dominos. Some amazing collection only deals as well, I can't rate papa johns highly enough. Its been my go to pizza place for months now!

Pizza was ok but a little bland ,ordered extra chicken glad I did because there were about 6 pieces on a large pizza. Do not order the dough bites because they use the papa johns special garlic dip ( it is far from special, probably the most disgusting thing to grace my lips )

Everytime I’ve called up they’ve answered quickly taken my order correctly, offered discounts when applicable, made the food quickly and most importantly the food is great.

Was not very warm when it arrived and just wasn’t nowt special for the price was very disappointed and the pizza base was hard to eat as it was cold by the time I had a few slices will not be ordering a from here again which is a shame as I haven’t had one in years and last time I had this was amazing at a caravan park

Pepperoni was a little crispy but other than that the pizza was very nice.

Been buying from papa johns in sunderland for years never had an issue , first and last time from south shield , ignorant staff and well under par pizza ...if you live in shields the drive through to fulwell is well worth it .....will not be returning to sputh shields branch.

When our order arrived, the food was warm (just!) but definitely not hot. I just think that if I’m paying around £18 for a small version of a papa Jon’s pizza, it should be at least hot?! I ordered two pizzas and one portion of the potato tots covered with cheese. Everything was cold and the cheese on the tots had cooled down and reformed into one lump! Such a shame, as I was really looking forward to this order, & the fact I only live 1/4 of a mile away, was just expecting better. Kids were ‘starving’ so just got on with it. Won’t be doing that again!

….. in the same premises it occupied years ago. We received a promotional leaflet with options of 50 or 60% off depending on amount spend. Here lies the crux, no matter how nice a pizza may be, without discounts they are nearly sit down restaurant prices as opposed to takeaway prices. Regardless of prices our stuff crust, half double pepperoni, half Mexican pizza with the lovely and tasty soft pizza dough was great. A let down was the garlic dip that came with it, I couldn’t eat it, it was like butter, horrible. If your looking for a great pizza though, and can afford it (to be fair the cost of living is effecting everywhere) then Papa Johns unique pizza is worth a shot.

The pizzas were great. Great deals on collection and delivery. Hospitality was great good staff and friendly. Can’t wait to come back 10/10

Great service. Ordered online. Was here in 15 mins, nice and hot and even had Gluten free options for the base. Also a quick call after to check all ok. Amazing!

Great Pizzas! Really nice dough. Tastes like better quality cheese than others. The thin crust is perfect. Haven't had any problems with ordering or delivery. This is now my go to for pizza.

Placed an online order for delivery. It Didn’t arrive, rang store to be told 30 mins. Still didn’t arrive, tried ringing, the phone was ringing out - being ignored. Pizza arrived nearly two hours later, barely warm, at this point were tucking into something we quickly cooked thinking we weren’t going to get anything from Papa John, it went straight in the bin. Contacted head office for refund, same ignorance as store, no response. Best advice, avoid, unless you enjoy throwing your hard earned cash away.

Ordered 3 pizza’s and one side at 18.30 went to collect, stood in the shop for 45 mins and then got home and the order was wrong! Currently been waiting on the phone for over an hour and no one’s picking up!!!AWFUL!!

Shocking service. Took ages getting through on the phone. Very poor telephone order skills, staff couldn't hear me or understand me. Very noisy in background, staff talking so loud in the background...phone operator cant hear! Repeats everything wrong several times. Can't pay cash at the door, need to pay over the phone using card. App prices different to leaflet price. Told 45 min delivery... well over an hour. I rang for an update... "its on the way". Obviously not. Will stick to my usual, not trying this again.

Food was alright, had to warm it up in the microwave for it to be decent. Pizza toppings werent distributed properly, so some slices had everything some had only sweetcorn. Took almost 2 hours to arrive. Phone operator didn't understand order until repeated for the second time. Won't be ordering from here again. Sticking to my usual.

Service very słów ordered pizza and waited an hour bare in mind i live less than half a mile ordered for delivery. Don't try calling because they won't pick up. Don't recommend unless for collection
