Mambos Express in South Tyneside

Nothing like our usual choice for regular Sunday lunch gatherings. Booked in error, But staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was hot and served well. My chicken was really tasty. Yorkshire puddings were enormous. Lots of vegetables each - so many - rather than waste them the server kindly put them in a container to bring home. Another choice was the chicken fajitas - very tasty - and again good size portion.

Visited here when visiting south shields based on a relative's review - so glad we did as the service was super friendly, super efficient. The food was incredibly tasty and the portions were more than generous. The quality of food and interior were both excellent. Price was beyond fair for the food provided. What more could you want?! Will be back when I next visit Shields!

We visited here today (29thMarch2025) as a group of 5 for my Nana’s Birthday. We had the most wonderful evening. The best part of the experience was the staff, some of the best customer service we’ve ever received, went above and beyond, we were looked after by three female servers and a young Man who was behind the bar, all absolutely lush and I can’t sing their praises enough. I set up some decorations on the table, and one of the young female members of staff with long dark hair went out of her way to help me. Two meals for £10, we honestly weren’t expecting much but we were blown away by the quality and the portion size. Absolutely excellent value for money. The only one negative was that two of us ordered the rigatoni arrabiatta, and neither of us ate much of it, unfortunately the sauce had a funny sort of cinnamon taste to it, and the pasta was super tough, but other than that, all of the food was lush! If I had to choose the best thing about our experience it would definitely be the staff, they’re all lush and they made my Nana’s birthday extra special. Will definitely be coming back, thank you again! X

Went for my Granddaughter 21st Birthday , entrance great. Then shown to the table which made you feel like you were eating in either a school dinner hall , or a canteen , just rows and rows of straight long tables, Some of the Dishes , said including choice of a sauce , what it does not say is you pay extra for the sauce, We were last family in, they were rearranging said long tables, for the dinner service the next day, and I do not mean laying the tables , lifting them up around us, Definitely , would not return ,

Fast, cheap, good quality, what's not to love? Rare to find a place offering all three of these qualities!

Had lovely meal here tonight. Olivia, our waitress, was lovely and very attentive. We were served quite quickly 2 of us having the meal deal. 2 courses for 10 pound. I had the risotto which was fab. Can't fault the place for service, ambience and value for money. Will be recommending to all of my family and friends. Lovely night

Great evening celebrating my daughter's 30th, very nice venue with great decor. Vegan menu options are limited but the kitchen can adapt a lot of dishes and are happy to do so. All of the wait staff were fantastic and made the evening extra special

We order from here on uber eats all the time. We live in Hebburn so it’s a fair distance, honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, the chicken kebab dishes are just to die for also, always comes super hot can’t fault the place, great prices too👍🏼

I want to love it, my 2 grown up kids like it, but I have tried and tried purely because they order from there, today I ordered pizza, dough was stodgy, chicken was out of a packet and cheese incredibly chewy. Previously carbonara sauce tastes like out of a packet that had water added to it. I used to order from Mambos but since it’s changed not the same( is it the same Mambo’s?)

We ordered mambos express for delivery, it cost us £35. Estimated delivery was 14:45 - 15:05 and it eventually arrived at 15:55. Our food was binned due to it being cold and inedible & lost £35 in the process. Really really disappointed.

Me and a friend went for Sunday lunch, and wasn’t disappointed Yorkshire pudding and vegetables all cooked to perfection ,very nice atmosphere and the young girl serving was very pleasant and helpful, on receiving the bill I was a little bit disappointed when they charged 3.00 for extra gravy after already paying 12.00 for the meal. Over all a very tasty meal

Went on Friday as a table of 6 for my son's birthday and enjoyed every mouthful. My son said the steak was one of the best he has ever had and he's a bit of a carnivore and not easily pleased. Staff were lovely, friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble, even clarting around to accommodate the fussy eater with us. Great night with great food and service.

Had an order through uber ruined because the driver took ages, food was freezing, ran up and they sorted it straight away no hassle, had a fresh hot one sent out within the hour, saved my valentines day night, absolutely top service and food was unreal as always!

Food is fresh!!! 1. Attentive service 2. Best doughballs ever, better than pizza express, these ones are a perdect 10 and have a drizell of honey, moist and garlicy. 3. kebab was outragously fresh, bread was fresh made sauce was fab 4. Sticky toff pud, 9/10, never got cream or ice cream 5. Cocktails that have bags of flavour 6. Good prices This place is an oasis of excellence in a desert of mediocrity

I order a Calzone almost every week and my orders are always taken by Amy. The service she provides is impeccable, friendly and enthusiastic. I havent even met her but shes already part of the family. Always look forward to my Friday teatime orders. The nicest food in South Shields in my opinion.

We had a takeaway and got the Mediterranean Mixed Chicken kebabs. The chicken was absolutely gorgeous, so tasty and juicy. Would definitely recommend them.

Ordered Sunday dinner online unfortunately it was 2 hours late..despite two phone calls asking where my food was and being told its with the driver! This isn't the first time this has happened either to us seems to be a regular pattern.. very late once again. Wont be using Mambos express anymore...sorry but I like my dinner for dinner time not 415pm. A customer lost

Went into the restaurant to order a carry out, there were only 2 people in the restaurant eating I waited 50 min for my meal I ordered king prawns with tomatos, rice and chips. The rice was bland and only enough for a 4 year old, chips were fine but the prawns..3 of them had turned too mush and were inedible and the others were over cooked Absolutely shocking for the £29 odd I paid..Hang Your Heads in Shame Mambos... I will never set foot in your place again SHocking !!!!!!!

Absolutely lovely food every time

Mambos Express has taken its space. I believe this restaurant is part of the Mambos chain one of which we’d had a while ago and praised it a lot. Today was the venue for a wedding reception which was upstairs (no wheelchair access, the waiters advice was they’d carry the wheelchair up two flights of stairs!) as it happened, this wasn’t needed but the option isn’t an option to carry someone up. Queue at the bar with one serving upstairs was long, 2 lemonades were poured as soda water! Buffet was really nice, pizzas and pasta, chips. They have a roof terrace for use.

We always get our takeawayd from here. They are of very high quality & always wilth a smooth delivery. The BEST in town.

Absolutely lovely kebab (meat was gorgeous)on a flat bread with the extra chunky chips. Delivered on the time requested and still hot.

There was very little I could eat being Vegan The menu was not clearly labelled and it took a long time to work out what I could eat but could not fault the staff or the produce The hummus bread and vegetables were really good - will get again The Greek salad was plain no dressing and so dry and boring but I did leave some hummus to eat with it. Only other options were potato skins and pizza without cheese. Good stars as staff and food I got was lovely

Came for a birthday dinner, was created with warmness, was able to choose where to sit. Although we arrived late food was on time and an all round amazing atmosphere! A special shoutout to Jordan he was so lovely and took care of us all night :)

We regularly order from mambos express, the food quality is fantastic and there is a wide variety on the menu from small bites to 3 course meals with delicious dessert too. The staff are very friendly and helpful overall our favourite take away in South Shields.

Ordered 2 Sunday dinners and a kids dinner the veg wasn't even cooked it was rock hard my 3 year old nearly choked on the carrots. And the cauliflower had mould on it far from a happy customer will not be ordering again. If I could post photos I would.

Beautiful ingredients beautifully cooked. Huge array of choice from starters through to pasta pizza, seafood and loads more. My favourite are the king prawns in the white wine and garlic sauce, absolutely delicious. If I order takeaway it always arrives piping hot and beautifully presented, giving a real restaurant feeling at home.

First time using Mambos Express and we were over the moon! Food was unreal

Ordered for the first time in a while as had a discount code to use which had been emailed. I had to collect from Bun Bun next door. Food was excellent I ordered the Pollo Pancetta which was beautiful and my wife ordered the Milanese Diavola. We ended up giving each other half of the others as they were both so nice. Only downside was that even for collection there was an hour wait, however the food was well worth the wait. I think in busier times they may need to get some extra chefs on. Will definitely be ordering again

We always use mambos express ever since it opened. We love the food and love how easy it is to change something about a dish if your particular. Chicken dishes are our favourite.

We order from here regularly as it’s one if the few places in South Shields where the food is always piping hot when delivered and consistently good. Their pizzas are incredible and toppings always really good quality.

Ordered are food at 7.50. Potatoes wedges, prawn dish and a pizza. Excepted deliver time was ment to be 8.55. Rang 9.30 to say it hasn't left as its still waiting to be cooked . Lady on the phone says it will be about another half an hour. Rang 10.20 for her to says it's "just left" 11 o'clock it turns up missing the dips for the wedges and my pizza must of been on its side when out for delivery as all my Toppings were on one side.

Was hungry at work and decided I’ll try something new, got the muscles in the wine sauce and the linguine - is it was absolutely unreal. Definitely recommend because the food is banging 10000/10

Do not order wine from this restaurant they send a cheaper alternative every single time paid over 20 odd quid for decent bottle and they send something else 3 times this has happened food hour late manageress not bothered or axsed!

High prices but low quality food.

Ordered 3 Sunday dinners at 12.45 arrived at 14.47 was told it would be delivered by 13.45 it arrived freezing cold I don't have time now to reheat not that i should have too as I have to be at sunderland hospital. I always order from here never again 😒

Ordered food at 6.45pm. Two phone calls later and after being assured both times that the food was out for delivery, it finally arrived at 9.05pm. Pasta was luke warm & the salad was soggy, won't be ordering from here again.

Ordered Sunday lunch they said it would be here within 45 mins to 1 hour it’s almost 50 minutes late meaning I will not be to have it now as I have work. The lady on the phone said it was out for delivery 30 mins ago. Joke

Ordered from here many times has always been lovely however my recent order of pizza was absolutely disgusting the tomato sauce was all burnt the cheese was swimming in grease myself and my daughter only had a bite out of a slice each and couldn’t eat it extremely disappointing

i phoned saturday nite at 740pm to ask about ordering a sunday lunch for tomorrow was answered by someone who did not seem to know the time of day hung up phoned again girl answered said dont take sunday lunch orders over the phone must call in to restaraunt !!! imho pathetic they will lose loafs of business. pay by card over the phone so whats the prob they get paid business complete . phoned bar blue no probs dinner on its way between 1 and 2 ----- MAMBOS MO MORE
