papa Johns in Derby

Placed an order at 9.19pm still sat here at 23.21 with no food and now the restaurant is closed. Absolutely disgusting.

Food was fine as per usual however delivery driver was rude. Apparently he waited outside for 15 minutes 🙄 calling our phone instead of knocking on door. He said that if it happens again he will cancel our order. We live in the countryside and have little to no signal, probably best to knock on door like a normal person next time.

It’s weird that food home delivery except from McDonalds, especially the Markeaton McDonalds, is successful.

Due to the IT outage my order wouldn’t go through online. I called the place instead - Nottingham Road store, Derby. I explained my problem and was asked for my surname and postcode. I gave both. I was told my postcode didn’t exist (even though I have lived here for over 20 years). I asked her to read it back to me which she did and it sounded correct but she insisted it didn’t exist and then put the phone down. Totally rude service

Food was rather good however ordered a half and half and ended up being 70/30. Store looked dated and could do with a clean with the floor and other piece's of equipment dirty and dusty. Staff members foot wear looked rather interesting for a food establishment.

Ordered online for collection beforehand and when we arrived food wasn’t ready, despite it saying so on the app. Poor customer service. We noticed one of the members of staff was putting toppings on our pizza after it was cooked. Also another customer came into the shop whilst we were waiting to enquire about their order as something went wrong, however the staff did not resolve their issue and laughed at them. I would not recommend coming to this branch, instead the one in Chaddesden is a much more pleasant experience.

It is not clean place. I recommend you to visit before you order . The dough flattened and dry on the racks, waiting to order . No cover no hygiene. It is better to order frozen pizza and heat in the oven .

Service - Appalling! Order deliveries are late and pizza arrives cold Product - Last order did helped me with hunger.. because I have lost all appetite when I opened the box..... Derby Allestree is the branch near me that delivers. In the past (and I am talking years, this branch was good and why I started liking Papa Johns), but as years have passed so seemed the service and quality of product went with it. Now and then when I craved for a Pizza I used to order it with low expectations knowing it won't be great as it used to be, but today... today is the last straw that made me write this and even call the branch. Ordered two pizzas (one on the lift in the picture is half/half but it is bit difficult to say as...), as usual order was taking long time and arrived late. Delivery driver knocked once and started walking away, and when I opened the door he just shoved me the pizzas and walked away. When I opened those boxes to check what is inside... I slowly closed them.. took them down to the kitchen, placed it in a bin bag and threw them out because that was disgusting! Pizza was all mushed and all over the place (like Sebastien Loeb himself have taken pizza for a spin) and the box was just grease.. pure grease all over.

The pizza was chewy, cold and had lots of barbecue sauce instead of pizza sauce. It was inedible.

waited for two hours, only to be told it was delivered an hour ago (which it wasn’t- i live in university halls so i would’ve had to go outside and personally meet the driver for it to have been delivered). order ended up being refunded after my two hour wait for one pizza.

Food arrived cold because a bike courier had decided to take the order. It was undercooked when it arrived anyway, and the staff were useless when I called. They kept pushing the eta back, why is there no punishment for this from just eat?

Went to claim my free pizza I got because they messed up my order and delivered it 40 minutes late. To have to wait 20 minutes whilst they cooked a fresh pizza because they messed up my order again. Who is hiring these clowns ??

Ordering through the website was fine. All else was awful. About an hour after ordering, checked 'track your order' which stated 'delivered'. Clicked on 'not arrived' with the response of 'wait five minutes'. 10 minutes later, called Papa Johns...no answer. 15 mins later cold pizza arrives with an apology of "sorry, very busy". Never again.

Ordered three times from here and each time we’ve had great pizzas. 4 stars

Drivers deliver food to wrong address, I left information where to when placed the order.

One of the worst pizzas I have ever had, it was like they had run out of dough and just smeared one of their cardboard boxes with some tomato puree and forgot the topping, in fact that would probably have been tastier, now they just plague me every weekend for months and months expecting me to buy more cardboard pizza from them via text and email, even though I have unsubscribed to the emails and texted stop, shocking business practice, they need a law suit against them for breaching GDPR and for selling awful cardboard pizzas !

Wrong pizza was delivered I received pepperoni pizza I asked for American hot. No sign of jalapeños anywhere. Disappointed 😥

Pizza dough was not cooked fully through.. also lack of flavour.. not worth £28 for 1 pizza ridiculous prices!

Fresh tasting pizza, better than their competitors and they offer similar offers if not better. Always have a look online what deals they do and once you sign up via their website you always get emailed the best offers. Thanks PJs

Order was extremely late and when I called the restuarant and asked for a update they never picked up the phone after 3 minutes of waiting ,very very poor waiting over 1 hour and 20 minutes for a pizza

On time, food was hot and fresh. Driver was lovely! Will order again! Worth the money.

Not sure what’s happened to this place but the quality is awful. Food was not very nice at all. Gone are the lovely people that used to answer the phone.

Service was ok, collection time was ok. The pizzas were awful! As a a long time fan Of Papa Johns - the cheese was AWOL, the tomato base was bitter and strange and somehow fizzy! Really, really disappointed! No point returning to collect fresh ones, as I live over 20 miles away, and only went there because it’s our nearest one and we’ve never had a bad one ( elsewhere) in the past. Customer service not bothered as it’s a Franchise. Well, you need to look at the comments on here PJ’s! Yuk!

Had a delivery from this store and the pizza arrived overcooked and cold the side was like cardboard and couldn’t eat it no dips on the side at all rang the store up and complained to them about it expecting them to send out fresh and got told it couldn’t be done as it was only 30 mins before they closed which I find unexpecable and the man I spoke to was rude only offered me a free pizza order next time guess what I won’t be ordering with this store ever again and I want my money back and a apology from the them which I doubt I will get

I visited here due to True Pizza being closed for refurbishment. What a total disappointment in comparison. The service was perfectly fine, but the food was an absolute rip off. “Authentic thin crust” base was like cardboard. The topping as minimal as you could get and the extra toppings of sweetcorn and mushrooms was an insult for what you pay! I genuinely believe you get a better pizza from any of the leading supermarkets. I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but I felt ripped off! The BBQ chicken wings were also very substandard.

The food was cold the driver firstly delivered it to the wrong address then despite there being a large sign saying “please shut the gate” he left it wide open and my dog got out. Unacceptable 😡

We've ordered a few times recently. We've had a missing drink, missing dips etc. But these things happen. HOWEVER, we ordered The Vegan Works with a Vegan Stuffed Crust. Pizza appeared as normal until when eating the crust, the flavour and texture was off - IT WAS DAIRY CHEESE. Cannot believe the complete lack of allergen control. Rang the branch, who said there was no manager in and they'd send me a new pizza, despite me saying multiple times I wasn't interested. I asked who had made the pizza, and how the lack of allergen control had happened, which they couldn't explain and had no idea. I asked for a call back from the manager which is expected tomorrow, but the branch call back the same night demanding that I return the pizza to them, which to me seems a little bit off and like a cover up to me?

We ordered pizza 2 pm, arrived 4 pm , I would never ever order again , no one pick up the phone and I had really bad experience

Placed an order. Waited and hour and a half nothing … gave them a call to be told it was going to be at least another hour . No apology. Cancelled order

Normally great service and great pizza's, but a tip for you don't order online when there is a big event on like today when England played German. As we ordered online it processed our order for collection on way to collect get email to say problem with order. We get there to be told order cancelled as got to many orders and we get a refund and that's it nothing in way of apology or even a voucher to use next time. So very poor in my opion.

2 and a half hours don't accept orders you cannot accommodate whether football is on or not been on the for 30 minutes so far

Quite a nasty stale pizza. Delivered late and the base was tough. Tried calling the restaurant but nobody answered because they didn't care. And for that they get a well deserved 1 star review. Well done. Look forward to zero future orders from

it wasn't the Papa John's fault the always give great service that's why I continue to order there food, however it was late down to the Just eat machine not putting my order through to there order machine. Please get this fixed.

On the 15 of March I went to papajohns west Ealing and was greeted by what do want had to explain my order then they guy took my payment and started to make my pizza I said nothing and regret going there I gave my pizza to someone on the road outside who was asking for food this is not n what happend to papajohns never going back I’m going dominos

Scheduled delivery 45 minutes after ordering which was bad enough - but an hour after they scheduled delivery having said it was with the driver the notification changed to ‘delivered’ I’ll stick to dominos in future

12/02/21 update: refund received. 08/02/21 update: I managed to get through to the shop and Vicky assured me he has requested a refund, this should be with Head Office to process. He also offered a complementary Pizza and side, so I've increased the rating to 3 stars and will update when the refund comes through. Original comments below- AVOID AVOID AVOID, we have issues in the past but today take the P!$$. They added delivered to the order after 45mins, I called them but no answer for 30mins, then when the driver was outside Vicky answered the phone. It was a s if they knew it was late. The pizzas boxes were freezing and when we opened the box the pizzas were squashed into one corner, as if the driver had put them on their side. I asked Vicky to tell his driver to take the pizzas and provide us a refund as we couldnt wait another 1.5 hours. He said he would issue a refund in a few minute. Nothing came and they don't bother answering the phone now.

i odered a XXL pizza and you gave me a normal large.and i never even had a apology or even offered my money back or even send the wright odder.so no i want ever odder here again.

Was barely warm after it arrived 20 minutes late. Poor customer service as they had gone to the wrong address.

I’ve tried their pizzas and sides several times and unfortunately they’re not that great. Overcooked, dry and not much taste. Also expensive.

Good food but restaurant could have let me know the pizza was going to be 25 minutes late. Whole order took 1h 45m to arrive.

Seems to be hit or miss at my local store, Allestree Derby, half the time it's perfect but the other half the food is poor quality or like this occasion there is ingredients missing from my pizza.

Big joke. Ordered own pizza. They mixed my order. I called them to explain that and ask for correct pizzas. Next they sends me pizza with almost no toppings. Not recommend them.

If my pizza had arrived hot and in a timely manner this would be a five star rating., but the tracking app claimed that the pizza was out for delivery 20 minutes after my order which I thought was quite good. Sadly it took a further 50 minutes for the pizza to arrive. When it finally arrived it was barely warm. Great pizza but having to microwave is not so great.

Pizzas themselves were nice enough to eat, not the warmest of pizzas to be honest. The big downfall was the the delivery.. it took about 25 mins during the delivering stage when we literally just live around the corner. The man did not delivery how he was supposed to. how it says on the website that they place it on the floor on an empty cardboard box and step back. He did not. Instead he knocked on the door and waited for me to open the door which he then got abit too uncomfortably close to my door and me! while passing over the boxes of pizzas to me by hand! And stuck around by the door afterwards. I'm sorry but with the situation we're in at the moment this is absolutely terrible! It's not hard to follow these simple steps. So unfortunately I wont be ordering from this Papa Johns in the near future again as I do not feel like safe to.

Lovely pizza, quick delivery and as it was Tuesday 20% off too. Wolfed it down whilst watching a film.

My nhs discount wasn’t added and after two phones and a wrong e mail address I gave up, but just eat shouldn’t advertise 25 percent off for nhs if not going to do it.

Decent pizza but noticed all the male pizza chefs had beards and not one of them was wearing a beard net! Hygiene is key in the food industry guys come on!

Good tasted great, driver was lovely and delivered food quickly, only problem was I ordered a pepperoni pizza and the pizza delivered was a margarita!

Pizza was cold, base was very dry like make it 5 hours before I order. Toppings was fresh I am happy for white onion ond red pepper good quality. I can say pizza from Derby is not good like Papa Jones pizza from Ilkeston.

I rang up to see where my order was and they said it was outside, it wasn't. They said I put the wrong address in so I checked on my Just Eat account and I did put the right address in.

Shocking isn't the word! we ordered a pizza here on the 29-10-2019 @18:30pm and it didn't turned up until 21:00pm 2& half hours late!. and we didnt even get an apologise!!! I'm taking this further...AVOID!

Wedges undercooked, overall disappointing

Things were missing off my order some of the food wasn’t hot was a little bit late and wedges were abysmal normally wouldn’t leave a bad review but when I paid £63 pound for a meal I could get for £20 anywhere else you expect it to be at least hot and arrive all together don’t think I will order again

Ordered a special off it was good but Dominos have more choice so normally use them , however the pizza was good and would use them again delivery was also fast.

Still the best pizza and the garlic butter dip is divine 😋

Soooo, sad face this time ☹ little disappointed in my order this time round! Ordered the xxl we had the bbq chicken & on the whole pizza there were 3 bits of chicken & although the order arrived early the pizza was stone cold 👎👎 it's a shame as the last 2 orders have been absolutely 👌👍 we all have our off days I guess! 🙂

Ordered pizza whilst visiting Derby staying in a hotel. The pizza was cold, under cooked and sparsely topped. Rang the branch to complain - manager was rude and insulting, practically called me a liar, as they had had no other complaints that night! Our Papa John's in Ellesmere Port is excellent - maybe Papa John's should be more selective of it's franchisees!

Papa Johns do the best vegan sheese pizzas! Not being able to have lactose/dairy limits where we can buy pizza from but the vegan sheese from here is so tasty and melty. Beautiful pizza! And being able to create your own is the best.

Beautifully made pizza. And the crust is springy and slightly sweet tasting . The tomatoes taste fresh and the toppings are placed evenly over the pizza. The only thing that could be better is the cheese, as it lacked salt a little compared to other pizzas. Friendly service.

Absolute rip off hardly any ingredients on the pizza ordered a half and half one-half was all the meats literally it was basically just pepperoni think I've got one piece of ham also ordered chicken wings tasted so bland also received a what they claimed was a special garlic sauce let tell you it tasted like melted butter save your money go somewhere else

Delicious. The pizza were perfect and definetly a great price. The perfect taste for the perfect bite. The staff were friendly toward me and the service was pretty quick. Overall a five star for me.

Tasty pizza and garlic bread delivered direct to my hotel! What’s not to love? Will be ordering again.
