Papa Johns in Colchester

I have never felt like such a Karen but my god this is the rudest store ever. Dunno what happened on the app or if it was me, but placed the order, noticed it had duplicated something so I called the store right away and tried explaining what had happened to ask if it’s possible to change the one pizza. The supervisor (who wouldn’t tell me his name, claiming he “can’t” give me his name due to GDPR which is not how GDPR works) kept asking “sorry what?” When he finally understood he cut me off and put me on hold and came back to say they’d been prepped and were ready for cooking (this is now around 3 minutes after the order) I explained that I did call right away and could we try and fix the issue, he just kept talking over me and saying no I won’t do that. I was going to ask okay, can you just remove some of the toppings but he just hung up on me which was just really rude and made me really uncomfortable. My partner called back to ask if there was a way to fix this and did tell him he wasn’t happy that they’d been rude to me, they just kept saying, “nope it’s already dispatched, it left the store. I won’t change it.” THEN I check the tracker and it’s been marked as delivered and it hadn’t arrived at all and in fact didn’t for another 7 minutes. I don’t care that they couldn’t cancel the order which I would’ve understood but they were so horrible the whole time and I wouldn’t have been so grumpy if they’d just been a little nicer and not kept talking over me and hung up.

The food was cold, soggy and lacking in flavour. I ordered the pizza thin & crispy but the bottom was not cooked and I had to put it in the oven when it arrived to re-heat / make it crispy. Toppings were also fairly sparse with very little cheese especially on the garden pizza. Have had better pizza at the Curzon cinema.

When they say 'pizza ready in 10mins' it will be 10mins. Love it

delivery v fast, pizza very hot (for the 2stars). That's where it ends, Almost no toppings on a meat pizza, and my son is ill today after eating his and he is rarely ill. We rarely order delivery or take away. Hopefully I will remember never to order from them again.

2 times in a row now food has taken over an hour to be delivered and when I calll no help will not be ordering again

Won't order from here again. Should've read the reviews. 1 hour 40 minute wait for cold pizza. App said it was delivered when it wasn't, so had no idea when or if it was coming. Useless company all round. Wish I'd read the other reviews. Papa John's has gone down the John. Won't buy from here again.

after wanting a meat feast from pizza hut we opted for papa johns it will never happen again wanted pan got thin base and to spot any meat on this over cooked pizza i would recommend a search party because you wont find anything edible wont be using again that's for sure

It does good pizza. There are some really good deals on the app. Papa Johns is the best pizza chain here in the UK.

Ordered online for collection, turned up 15 minutes later and it was ready. Excellent pizza, beats the competitors for me.

Just had a papa johns pizza for the first time, as it was recommended to be better than dominos... And let me tell you, It's the WORST fu#king pizza I've ever had in my whole life. It had next to NO SAUCE on the BASE, it was DRY and had like a TINY sprinkle of cheese and hardly any toppings and was like cardboard.... Also, I watched the app and it was cooked within less than 5 minutes, that is a clear indicator that it was not made fresh to order. Very bare edges next to the crust too.... Even a cold Dominos pizza on a bad day is ten times better.

This is rated with the take-away equivalents and not comparable to any restaurant review I've done. Probably more 2.5 stars. As take-away pizza goes it's fairly good (better than Dominos in my opinion). A bit hit and miss on whether you get all your toppings. Had pizza that caused serious indigestion only once. Staff usually pretty friendly.

Well it's a takeaway so atmosphere doesn't really come into it but the pizza is better than Domino's.

Only losing one star because there's no parking, as a disabled person I can park on yellow lines for a short while, but don't like doing it.

Papa John's is the best big chain for takeaway vegan pizza. Their vegan sides are especially good too. I've been ordering from them for years and they've not let me down. I'm sure the rest of the range is good too. I've always had good service, food delivery and their tracking app and rewards scheme are really good.

Pizza has been delivered within 30 minutes. Was very hot, tasty and with loads of ingredients. I really recommend to give it a try.

Was abit worried after reading some of the reviews but it's the nearest take away to our hotel so we thought we'd risk it ,and glad we did as the pizzas were lovely , my only complaint is that they didn't accept cash which is very annoying.

The general consensus seemed to be that quality of the cheese and toppings was higher with Papa John's, but the quality of the sauce and crust was higher with others.

Came down for work from cheshire got 2 pizzas for 20 quid the staff were friendly and the food was great would visit again

Ordered a deal package on JustEat and the Hawaiian pizza gave me horrendous food poisoning meanwhile the other pizza's were fine (we ordered Hawaiian, AtM, Chicken Club and BBQ Meat Feast.) First time this has happened to me with any fast food chain, and with recently moving into the town, this left a majorly poor impression on me. Avoid the Hawaiian.

Papa John's Braintree is probably the best pizza I have had. From the fresh light pizza base followed by the lovely tasting tomato sauce, cheese and outher toppings. Cooked to perfection. I will never have a dominos pizza again. The difference between the two pizza places is like day and night. If you haven't eaten a papa John's do your self a favour and try it, you won't be sorry.

Good pizza. Recommend the deal for one unless your up north then get local kebab shop

Gutted. We always get pizza from Papa John's. Usually have the Greek but unfortunately not available. Ordered the Mexican but with veggie pepperoni.. On a half large pizza I got 4 bits of pepperoni. Extremely disappointing, along with waiting over an hour for it to be delivered. Hopefully just a one off

I'm gluten intolerant and ordered in a pizza with the butternut squash base. The man behind the counter was so helpful, asking whether I'd like it sliced. When I replied with "whatever's easiest for you", he replied with "it's no big deal for me to sanitise a new cutter and use it. Do you want me to cut it?" I haven't even eaten the pizza yet but I was nearly moved to tears by the helpfulness of this establishment in catering to my dietary needs, I'm rating it 5 stars on experience alone.

Ordered from here last night 1st time I've used them the food arrived in excellent condition the quality was unlike any other local pizza I will definitely be ordering from them again

Incredible, quite prompt didnt have pigs un blankets but replaced with another side and added addtional dips, even the driver was lovely.

Staff are pleasant and great pizza. The lunch deal is also incredible value.

Service and delivery good - pizza good but the garlic margarine tasting bread was vile and a very strange yellow, margarine dip again, vile. As because of this - I'm out.

Really nice vegan pizza!! Ordered online and it came precisely on time! Love that the 'special garlic' dip is vegan too! Just need to add some vegan sides and vegan cheese now! Way better than Pizza Hut.

Poor phone service with member of staff. Asked for senior member of staff to help, but just stated "do it online" (thanks, I was already trying hence why I'm calling...) Really frustrating, went to Dominos instead! Pizza was better there anyway!
