Papa Johns in Torbay

Absolutely vile. I've had frozen pizza that tasted better. Waited for over an hour and a half both the pizzas were dry and stone cold. Called the restaurant and the supervisor found it amusing and couldn't care less that she had cooked my food and then let it sit there for well over an hour before it was delivered to me. Will never be returning.

Very disappointing. This was our first Papa John's order and we assumed something similar to a Pizza Hut or a Domino's, but sadly nowhere near. Being ignored for ages didn't get things off to a good start. Our game of Spot The Topping was very brief, since there was hardly any topping to spot. 'Papa' seems to be the poor relation of the takeaway pizza family, the one no-one mentions at family gatherings. Best avoided. We won't be seeing you again, 'Papa'.

Recently got a deal with my husband. 2 lg pizzas, 2 sides, and a large drink. The food was a bit late and tasted ok but was barely room temperature. They forgot our drink and sauces we asked for as well :/ We mentioned the missing drink and were told they would drive one out to us as soon as possible but it never came. I was really looking forward to a pizza night as we rarely order out but was really dissapointed.

The pizzas here are awful. Far too much dough - thick stodgy bases that will leave you bloated - like eating a loaf of bread and very mean on toppings. Possibly the worst pizza I have ever eaten. On a positive note, the online ordering process was slick, I collected and the staff were very friendly and the kitchen is spotlessly clean. But I'd never return, just dreadful pizzas. I hate rating bad reviews but I felt I had to on this.

So happy it’s back open, customer service was speedy and the ladies behind the desk were energetic fun and made sure my order was perfect. Can’t wait to come again

Second and last time they got my order wrong. When you're paying 50p for dips I expect them to be delivered with the order!

Staff were friendly and efficient but there were only 2 for the whole shop. Food was 30 minutes late and to be honest… I’ve had nicer frozen pizzas. Used to love papa’s but I’ll be avoiding from now on. Shame as the staff were hard working and clearly short staffed.

Made online order… paid for it… no delivery… and don’t answer the phone. Will I use you again.. NO absolutely ripped off

Ordered my pizza and side with ease. An hour later it hadn't arrived, so gave them a call and they replied with something along the lines of "our drivers have finished so quickly can't deliver it" Comlete shocker!

Great pizza and great value however I think they are discriminating against people who haven't got a debit card to pay with as they don't accept cash. Not everyone has a bank account and not everyone has a debit card

I ordered here for the first time last Friday, having not realised we had a Papa Johns in torquay! For what is always a busy night for takeaways, we didn't wait too long, the pizzas were lush and the service at the till was great! We'll be back

Ordered twice this week there pizza has lots off topping and plenty off cheese delivery with in 5 minute really enjoyed the only problem I had was to much salt but was the best pizza I had in a long time 😊

Pizza would have been tasteful IF it had arrived hot, Jalepino n cheese were awful and stone cold. Have to say 1st time on a Deliveroo and to say NEVER AGAIN!!

Ordered many times from this branch and never had any issues. Food always hot and drivers are always friendly.

Discriminative and forceful sale, went to buy a small pizza for my 5 year old nephew and other family favourites, their window clearly advertising sale of small pizzas and large pizzas, one staff member happily took my order with no problem, half way ordering for more food another staff member saw me came over and cancelled my small pizza order and insisted I buy the more expensive large one, looking at their faces I could see that there was fowl play going on, as the first staff member looked at second dominant staff member in shock, I had to drop all orders and leave in fear, I stood by the corner of their window and watched another customer go in, ordered a small pizza, was told to pay £3.99 and told his pizza would be ready in 10 minutes . It’s clear I was refused same order due to ethnic background. If your black do not bother going to this pizza place, if your served be sure your food has been tampered with, possibly spat in, judging from the racist comments they made as I left their shop.

Walked in off the street. Stood at the service hatch for 10 minutes. 6 members of staff/delivery drivers stood around, nobody asked us for an order, so we walked out again.

Had not ordered from this store for a while, after having a couple of poor quality pizzas. I am pleased to say that the place is now under new management and the quality and quantity of toppings have massively improved, with great flavour too!! Will definitely be my go-to take away place again now.

Shocking service ordered the pizza online for delivery used the tracking service which said the pizza had been cooked 20minutes after ordering but didn't receive the pizza for another hour!!!! And when it did arrive it was not even hot. Pointless ordering pizza from here better service at Domino's.

I ordered a cheese and tomato pizza however it was burnt. When I phoned up the store the woman who answered the phone was very polite and managed to solve the issue. Lovely customer service x

I visited for a takeaway pizza about 2-3 years ago and thought it was quite nice. Tonight we ordered a pizza via ubereats and, as we live not far away in st marychurch, it came within15 minutes. The bbq meat feast pizza looked like it had been cooked 2 hours before and was so bland. They don’t do wedges or fries but very bland ‘potato tots’ at £5.99 a portion ( yes you read that right) we also had buffalo wings - 6 small cold wings at £7.29. A large bland pizza at £21.99. plus 2 portions of potato tots and one portion of the awful wings, with delivery and service charge came to £44 and that’s with a £15 discount voucher. Awful overpriced rubbish, papa john’s should be ashamed, I wish we had looked at their 2.5 stars before ordering - lesson learnt

We ordered from here the other day since they had an offer which was 50% if you spend £30 or more and that includes pizza, sides and desserts. We had our usual order and we ordered some peri peri chicken poppers since we wanted to try them and they were half price. The pizza and the garlic bread was nice as usual. The chicken was ok but i would never pay full price for it. Overall it was a nice meal.

Had a nightmare trying to order and use the papa rewards system, so called the store and got through to Georgie, she couldn’t do much with the rewards scheme from her side but really went the extra mile to get the order sorted. Deserves a pay rise 100% excellent service.

Not amazing but not bad. Has good deals now and then that makes me pick papa Johns instead of other options.

Terrible service - I ordered my food at 7:55 pm was told it would arrive at 8:45 pm. I called papa johns at 9pm / 9:15 and 9:30 each time I was told it had just come out the oven or just left... It never arrived. I am now waiting my refund.

The first time ordering at the paignton branch. Food was freshly cooked. Nice and hot. Everything correct. Delivery was fast. Food was tasty

Just had a garden party with stuffed crust and an American hot with stuffed crust delivered to the Travelodge in Torquay where we are staying, I've tried Papa John's before and wasn't blown away with it so my expectations weren't very high. Our pizzas arrived ten minutes early, the young lad delivering them was lovely and polite, he rang to say he was out front with the pizzas so I went straight out to get them, when I got them back to our room I was really impressed, they were piping hot, super tasty and there was no grease left in the box! All in all a fantastic experience.

Why take orders when you can't cope with the amount you have I don't understand. Nearly 2 hours for a pizza is shocking. First and last with you guys I think.

Great pizzas, but customer service is a joke. They ignore you when you walk in, even had to ask if I could have my pizzas that were sitting on the shelf. They all look fed up, and don't care about customers. Torquay branch is just badly run.

Decided to try something a little different. I usually order pizza from Pizza Hut. But, as I had a voucher for Papa Johns I decided to try it out. I ordered an XXL BBQ meat feat and ordered it for 6PM. It came 15 minutes early. The pizza looked and tasted amazing. the ingredients tasted fresh and it was not too greasy. Papa Jhons is slightly more expensive than Pizza Hut but it worth paying a little bit extra.

Just spent £95.00 on almost the worst food ever. All food was lukewarm despite being less than a 5min drive away from my home. Order was wrong with items missing and olives etc on pizza when we asked for them to have no olives etc Safe to say I won’t be using this company ever again

I have just ordered a meal deal 2xxl pizzas and 2 sides for £29.99 this is what we usually order and to be fair always very tasty and HOT!! After ordering It said they were experiencing problems with the email system to let you know the food is ready. I wasn’t going to stand there and eat a bite out of 3 different pizzas to check they were all up to satisfactory standard, however I did try a chicken side and it seemed fine so off I went (2mins home) with heating on!! Once we got home and dishes it all out we all started eating and all said at the same time this is cold and not as nice as normal, if this was just a cheap meal I wouldn’t say anything £30 for cold pizzas that will now not get eaten with any enjoyment it’s not on. Maybe a coincidence that my food was cold when they are having problems telling people it’s ready??? I called them to raise my concern to be dealt by a extremely RUDE person saying it’s not my fault and I should of checked all the food before I left, and it’s got cold from the drive home!! Totally incorrect and I will MOST DEFINITELY NOT spend 1 more penny in that place Shame on you and other loyal customer lost

Fantastic customer service from everyone in the store and Papa John's vegan sheese is legitimately one of the most delicious substitutes in the market. An unforseen issue meant there was a delay on the order but the issue was dealt with very professionally and respectfully. Great pizza as always, too. Will absolutely be back for more.

I'm hoping this place has turned a corner as we had really tasty, hot, fresh pizza tonight with plenty of topping. This hasn't always been the case in the past. Staff on tonight were helpful and efficient, our food arrived promptly. Keep up the good work - it's lovely to have Papa John's pizza as good as when you first opened, thank you.

So sorry but my first visit was after you opened at Marychurch, had a poor experience with your pizza, nothing was nice about my order, my second visit just to see if things are better, but I asked for a small all bacon and tomato Pizza, I made a point when ordering loads of BACON, when I got it home I only found two bits of Bacon on the Pizza, not as big as my finger nail, The worst Pizza I have ever had, Second visit and the last, you won't be open much longer, a con,

The premises are too small with too few staff to deal with the high volume of internet & Telephone orders. A 45 minute wait to receive or order, in person is very poor customer service. Use another provider.

Tried ordering a delivery from this place in St.Marychurch Torquay, after 50 minutes phone the shop, they said the guy tried phoning me, didn't bother ringing my doorbell, couldn't get through on my phone, so drove off!!! I was then told my food be delivered again...not freshly cooked, but the food that had been in the delivery guys car for 50 minutes!!! I said I didn't want it, was offered a refund...took 5 weeks!!! To get my money refunded to my card, will NEVER use again, and recommend you don't!!!!!!

Not really a regular thing for me, home delivery pizza! But this was the choice of the rest of the family. As it turned out, it was most enjoyable! The pizzas were delicious & well cooked - much nicer than some others I have had from different suppliers!. Thumbs up from me!

Ordered some food from Papa Johns...St Marychurch, and after waiting for 50 minutes gave them a call back. I was told the driver phoned me...so he decided to NOT ring my doorbell...i then asked what they were going to do about this, all I got in response was that the food would be delivered hot... not sure how they would do this as it had been in the lazy delivery drives car for 50 minutes... I said I didnt want reheated food, nor did I think the service had been very good, the guy on the phone wasnt interested, said he would do a refund to my card. Monday I checked with my card company, nothing. So I rang them back, got the manager this time, said he would call me back in an hour as he was busy [unlucky for those customers!] but didnt so I had to call them back. I said my refund shouldve been done on Saturday, he said he was going to do it, then he kind of started saying he would do it tomorrow...I said no it shouldve been done Saturday, he then said yes ok Il do it now. I asked him if he needed my card details for the refund, he said no....i dont think it is possible for him to do the refund...? I will never use this place ever again!! I will tell everyone I can not to use this place. I will also be contacting Papa Johns and see what they think of their franchise in Torquay, I wonder how they will react to all of this DISGUSTING service by the staff [hardly trained I think..] at the Torquay store!!

They have as official information that they close at 23:00, but I went there at least 20min before closing time and they were closed. When confronted, they told me I should've ordered earlier. I would have gladly done so if I knew the actual closing time. Such unprofessionalism for a world famous franchise...

Used to be good. Sent wrong size pizza. Missing dips, sent wrong chicken wings just plain, lazy. Driver had a cheekt smirk on his face like he found it funny to be late. This is what I thought of your pizza, service and people.

I feel don't offer a special offer on pizza if you are going to do minimal sauce and toppings, I would rather pay full price and get decent pizza. Woman on counter didn't seem happy to be there, maybe polite smile for customers 😀

The pizza arrived cold (it was stuffed crust and the cheese was not melted and the pizza it self was cold). I called the store to explain what happened and if I could get a replacement. They asked if I have eaten the pizza to which I answered that I tried it (to find it its cold). Then the store said that I had to return the tried pizza (which they will throw out anyway) and I had to wait another 1hr for another pizza. Then they continued to accuse me that I am "scamming them". Overall the pizza did not get replaced and the manager was very very rude and I got stuck with a cold and sad pizza. yay.

I did use other well-known pizza brands in the area but then Papa Johns opened up near me to so I give it a try and wow what a difference it made to a pizza so now I use Papa Johns all the time

After a long day at work yesterday decided to actually have a pizza instead of cook8ng. This is not the norm for me. Wow it was fab also it was the fab service that i recieved which also made it a real treat especially from the young female who served us...will def go again

Awesome pizza and reasonably priced

£50 for pizzas which including two buy one get one free so on the pricey side so expected a treat, waited an hour for delivery which was longer than stated pizzas were warmish and not very tasty, chicken poppers were chewy and wedges poor. Overall very disappointed and complete waste of money. Should of gone to the pub for a proper meal! Our mistake. Avoid unless not that fussy.

Staff morale must be low as not a single smile amongst them for a first time customer, pizza ordered instore - long wait and not really that tasty, wouldnt be using again. Further to this on the door is a code where you can rate your visit and send it direct to Papa Johns - I took photo of code and on filling in the online page guess what code not recognised - does this mean they are purposely misrepresenting the code to prevent poor reviews reaching those higher up ? Further to this I contacted their head office with details of my experience, the fact that the code was wrong and the lack of staff motivation/morale - guess what response I got.....nothing - seems they dont care either

I have been eating Papa John's pizzas for over 25yrs and always recommend to friends/family and this is the 1st time I have ever had to complain. Whilst holidaying in Torquay we placed a collection order, my partner drove the 10mins to collect when he got back we noticed the hot! Buffalo wings had no hot buffalo sauce on, when we called to complain they refused to bring a replacement so my partner went to drive back He got in the car and the manager called back claiming the don't put buffalo sauce on buffalo wings and in the 8yrs he has worked in various stores he has never seen them with sauce on. He became quite rude and then told my partner he would replace them but still with no sauce The argued for a number of minutes then my partner drove down. We should him the photo on their website of the buffalo wings with the sauce on and he eventually poured some sauce over some wings not before offering to reheat the wings which he had already given us 45minutes earlier I have never been so disgusted in my life

The cheese burger pizza is awful. Tasted abit of curry .. Veggi pizza was lovely. Delevery was quick.

Braved trying again as I love papa Johns pizza.. Sadly.. This place isn't as good as any other papa John's franchise I've visited.. Not going to be too harsh as the pizza was OK.. But just OK.. Not What I'd hoped and expected.. Staff are still no better from the 1st time I tried this place.. Think ill stick to domino's... From now on...

I was pleasantly surprised when I learned the price and the staff there are so pleasant and talk to you and not like you are somebody Royal.

best pizza place,had a large all the meats pizza + piri piri poppers+ cookies i think best taste ever i had , much better then other pizza shops in torquay .friendly staff keep it up guys, defo ordering again..

The staff are really friendly (helpful in my case aswell), warm and welcoming. Definitely worth the money, quality, better pizza (The best I've ever had by far), better ingredients (The tastiest I've ever had by far). The Takeaway restaurant itself is spotlessly clean and inviting (warm). Highly recomened and will definitely go back.

I use papa johns regularly where I live and it's great no problems, however when on holiday in torquay I stupidly ordered from here without reading the reviews first, if I had I would have just ordered from dominoes.

I was served by a very friendly guy called Hassan. While me and my friend waited he chatted away with us and made the wait feel a lot shorter. His customer service was exceptional. When me and my friend ordered a half half pizza with one side all the meat and the other just cheese, he made special precautions to ensure they didn’t mix. This was handy considering I’m a vegetarian. Very happy with it all in total and I will definitely be ordering from here again in the near future.

Firstly they didnt give the delivery man any float money knowing that we were paying cash, so we didn't get the £4 change we should have done, imagine they are making a fortune off people doing this. Secondly, we ordered two bbq pizzas, both came with no bbq sauce on. It took them an hour and a half to come and replace them because once they had our money they clearly wern't bothered about their customer service towards us. Told them to bring me the cash back and all of a sudden the pizzas were ready to leave and would be ten mins. Another half an hour later still hadn't received them. Avoid this place and just use dominoes. Wish we had.

Having never tried Papa Johns previously, we were curious to see what it was like in comparison to its competitors. Firstly it is more expensive than its competitors but ours was worth the extra. We were really pleased - it was far superior to Dominos in taste, quality and arrival temperature. Having read the three previous reviews we were concerned we made a mistake but I can honestly say we all really had a great experience. Whoever was on food pre this evening they need to have the job full time. Many thanks for a great mid week treat.

Pizza was delivered 45 mins late and was cold and undercooked. Was told to ring tomorrow as was to late for a replacement didn't fancy another undercooked mushy pizza the next day and asked if a refund would be available and was flatly refused. Do not shop here awful pizzas and awful customer service

Ordered online, despite asking for asap delivery the website changed it to the following day when the order was placed, I then rung them up to explain the mistake, and was told not to worry, the driver was coming out with my order straight away, I waited over an hour, rang them again and they wouldn't answer, then it got to 12pm and the store was closed. Utter shite.

We decided to try papa johns,as we normally eat from dominos and thought we’d give these guys a go.

Very poor service, won't be getting my weekly takeaway from here again
