Do not order unless you like waiting over an hour for a cold pizza. Rubbish.

Pizza arrived to our hotel and hadn’t been sliced, 2 people trying to pull apart a pizza in a hotel room not great, pizza tots weren’t cooked properly. Won’t be ordering again.

We were regular customers but today is the third time they have got our order wrong. We will be using Pizza Hut

Ordered pizzas and desserts at 14:30 for 15:45 to my son's birthday. Noone called or messaged me and pizza is nowhere at 4pm, so I called them. They blamed the delivery guy, the official PapaJohns' computer system and everything, didnt even say sorry. Still didnt tell me time for arrival... Pizza arrived at 16:25.

Customer service is not good. And I am not interested to recommend this shop to anyone. Because in Southend there are many of other pizza shops far better than this.

Order your pizza. Wait quietly. Eat with decent manners Quietly put your rubbish away. Go home find your bed. Drift away to sleep. When you get up, consider becoming teetotal for the rest of your days.

We placed an order at 19:00 and it took 1 hour plus to prepare, during which we tried to phone but no answer. After 2 hours the order said it had arrived, but no one turned up.

Manager is terrible, pizza was never delivered i promised myself to never order from this resturant again

Disappointed with Papa John's Southend branch. Ordered a vegan pizza, but it arrived missing vegan cheese. When I called to inquire, the manager was rude and dismissive, refusing to provide assistance or even his name. Appalling lack of professionalism. Will not be ordering again. So sad he couldn’t be empathetic and human. You’d think he’d have been nicer and then helped raise an issue to head office re a problem on the app! Super sucks :(

My experience at Papa John's Southend branch left much to be desired. I recently ordered a pizza, but to my dismay, it arrived missing the base cheese that was clearly listed on the app, email and receipt. When I called the restaurant to address the issue, I encountered a rude and dismissive manager who refused to provide any assistance or even his name. This lack of professionalism was truly disappointing. As a customer, I value respectful and helpful service, which unfortunately was lacking in this instance. I hope management takes steps to improve their customer service standards in the future.

If I could give a 0 I would! Ordered 2 pizzas and 2 sides at 19:10pm, an hour and 20 minutes later it’s still showing as being prepared!!? Been trying for the last 40 minutes to get through on the phone & I’m currently at 25 minutes waiting for someone to answer!😡 If you are going to order a pizza from here I would suggest placing the order 2 hours before you actually want to eat. This place might have nice pizzas but they do not know how to deliver good customer service or even answer a phone!!

Shocking customer service. Placed an order online and wanted to make a very small amendment. I called the shop within 1 min and was told it was too late as its already int the oven. 1 hour and 10 mins later, still waiting for the pizza.

Food is always nice but the delivery time is stupid. Always takes around an hour to arrive.

Walked in to order food at 22.25, it shuts at 11 they refused to serve me and told me they’re now closed when clearly it says it shuts at 11pm and the doors were open. Terrible customer service and will probably never go back.

The food is delicious and no comments about that, but since when the delivery drivers are not suppose to come in and deliver to door if I live in a fourth floor for example? Just had a delivery and I have two babies which I can’t leave unattended and I had to ask to leave the food downstairs because I couldn’t come to pick it up and the lady driver was obviously too lazy to come up. so have to wait for partner to come back and then he will bring it up the cold food?? To be fair delivery should be free at this point.

Worst customer service ever , I’ve simply asked for taken of one of the topping and add something else which the guy was quite rude keep saying I have to pay extra for it , like I’m avoiding paying £1.70 what a joke ! when you order it online it gives you two topping so I’ve ask him if we can take that of simply and put olives instead he was ready to fight and he’s raising he’s voice quite aggressive! ! He needs to be train specially he doesn’t say thank you or please nothing , food is awarage but service is terrible , avoid this place !

Do not order food from here as when our order eventually turned up was cold and I placed my order at 18.15 and didn't get delivered till 20.30, manager refused to give refund, so the reviews speak for themselves disgusting food and customer service, avoid at all cost

Incompetent, rude manager with lack of manners or understanding of his duty. Cold food and no offer of compensation. Wouldn’t mind but we use the store regularly and have no issues. Don't bother!

How can they call that a pizza come well under cooked phone up straight away to get a replacement to a rude person saying no accept it nothing he can do. Guy with the beard is very rude even we f down there to show them. Horrible

The pizza took near on 2hrs to arrive and when it did it was I believe reheated and closer to cold than warm on the heat scale.. not happy and think that warrants a refund..

Unfortunately not very good pizza and service from this branch. I will not get back to this place.

What absolute rubbish!!!! The worst papa johns in the history of the UK. I ordered some DAMN icecream!!!! ON THE TTEST DAY OF THE YEAR! might i add. NOT ONLY DID I WAIT 2hrs FOR MY FOOD. THE ICECREAM I BOUGHT DID NOT COME. IT DIDNT COME. HE ToLD ME 5-10 mins I CALLLED THEY CUT THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND TOOK MY £5.99 OVERPRICED BEN + JERRYS

Be careful they will not deliver the food to your door, driver will call you and you have to go to his car to take it. Expecting a big tip.

Abysmal. Pre-ordered food at 5:15 for delivery at 7:15 as it usually takes ages to come. Fine. We ordered in advance. It’s a Monday night… not hugely busy. Anyway now it’s 7:45 and food still hasn’t come. You’d like to think the staff have the ability to make 3 pizzas in over 2 hours… since, you know… it’s their literal job. Anyway, shocked by the poor time management and absolute rudeness of the man I spoke to on the phone. Phoned up to check on our order and he said it was out for delivery so I simply wanted to ask why it took them so long and he hung up on me. Very very rude. Do not come here. Pizza is decent but just go to dominos, seriously. Not worth the terrible experience. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Shocking and poor customer service, so the order arrived incorrectly and the driver refused to take it back, called the branch he tried quoting me T&Cs so simply got a chargeback from the bank .

Just ordered the Vegan Works and was so impressed!! Well done. We nearly used another known brand but they had a rubbish vegan selection. We’ve found our new pizza joint!

I love the pizzas but what has happened to the sides? I got 8 little pieces of bacon/ham on my bacon cheese sticks doesn’t even end up with one per stick as there r 14! Used to be a lot better

From the dips to the pizza everything tasted horrible

I ordered a vegan pizza, some vegan cauliflower wings and cinnamon swirls for mothers day as a treat to my mum. It arrived an hour later stone cold. I could see from the tracking that it had finished cooking 20 minutes before the driver picked it up and 10 minutes after that it turned up at the door. We had to microwave it and it ruined the food, it all went soggy and weird. We could also tell that the pizza bread didn't taste fresh it tasted like it had been frozen and reheated and had that same chewy hard texture that was really not pleasant I called papa johns and was told they would come and collect the food and come back with a replacement order. we had ordered at 9pm and it was already gone 10, we weren't going to wait until 11 to sit and watch a movie with dinner so we ate it as it was. Unimpressed to say the least Then we got to the cinamon swirls which were NOT fresh they were clearly frozen and microwaved and were chewy So basically cold, reheated, chewy food that tasted defrosted and very poor organisation and customer service. I really won't be back!

I ordered at 18:07. It was supposed to arrive in 30 minutes (18:37) it's now 19:44 and i'm so hungry. About 5-6 phone calls later, i'm still waiting. Idk if i'm actually going to get the food. Huge RIP. I'll do anything to never be in this situation again

My pizza never came. I was waiting for 1.5h and i called them they said it was delivered. Don't order from this scammers. Somebody will have nice evening, but not me.

Great vegan food. Speedy service. Shame they are refusing legal tender. Will consider returning for more food, but if they refuse to take cash again, we will order from somewhere else.

Due to the lack of decent Indian and Chinese food in the local area I opted for Papa John's, even though pizza was not really my thing as a vegan and all. Their Vegan range in excellent and innovative which even some veggie/vegan only places lack. A good choice for us whining, moaning vegans who always like to make a scene and let the world know we are vegan. Papa John's cover the spectrum of vegan pizzas, sides and desserts that will satisfy most ordinary vegans. Their prices are fair and reasonable and always have offers of the day or regular offers that suit most needs, and yes this includes the vegan range unlike a well know burger and fries conglomerate. With the added pressure of lockdown the service has been excellent and well distanced which has also been neglected by some other fast food outlets. So a big thumbs up to that. The speed of delivery on on my orders to date has been impressive and accurate. I have never had a complaint about Papa John's and hope this will remain the case. But if I did I would go to their head office first before smashing a company on a site like this as things can go wrong and often can get sorted by going to the head office rather than ringing the store and demanding this and that and then blasting them.on social media. A great job Papa John's👍👍

Dont waste your time with pizza hut and dominos, papa John's is the one! Never undercooked or overcooked, smothered in toppings, best garlic butter sauce 😊

First time ordering from Papa Johns and can easily say its now my favourite for Vegan Pizza! Was so impressed with the amount of Vegan options, we opted for the Vegan Works (the better of the two) and Vegan Sausage and Pepperoni which were both brilliant. Also had Cauli Wings, Vegan Sheese Potato Tots, Cinnamon Scrolls and Vegan Ben and Jerry's. All the food was amazing, delivery was really fast and there were no issues or missing items what so ever. Would definitely recommend.

Ordered from here, asked for 7 garlic dips got sent 7 tomato dips so I rang then up and they was realy rude and said they was nothing they could do and basically called me a liar and hung up

Poor service, placed an order, staff told me "that the order never came to their system" and just asked me to make "another order and wait 40 minutes" absolutely shocking.

Very long wait despite going to shop. Marmite swirls amazing! Pizza not so good. I normally have vegan spicy and it's fab but this time disappointing. Lack of topping about three inches short of crust and no BBQ base which I ordered. The vegetarian cheese pizza kids had was good.

They can make one of the best pizza but it depends on the person who is making it....

So I’d like to say iv been ordering from Southend branch for years and have never had any issue like this before ! Utterly disappointed In the shop staff their attitude is disgraceful. So we ordered from puppa johns via the app as I have done numerous of times before but this time to my new address in which I might add they have actually delivered to in the past!! To receive a phone call an hour later from the delivery guy to say his at the front door, I go and answer it his not there. I then call him back for him to tell me his in Westcliff at my old address. I then say to him but iv ordered it to shoeburyness my new address and he then reply’s oh I see the other address. Same guy I might add who delivered to me in the past. And he says his gunna bring me the same pizza and food but may be cold. Iv refused this and said I’d call the shop. I call the shop to be answered by a trainee, is all I can imagine he was and asked him I have defiantly put the correct address in shoebury to be told yes I did as I had it also on the confirmation email. Iv asked reasonably for them to resend the order or refund me. He then puts me on hold a number of times to listen to some moron in the back ground who then came on the phone rudely spoke over me telling me it’s our fault we put incorrect details on the order when I have it in black and white in front of us. We was then informed we basically had the following options 1. Receive a cold order or 2. Email proof to them and they will look into and no refund until proven. So at this point my partner is on the phone to him and we’ve been left without our food and they have taken the payment already. Even after the first person I spoke to and the delivery guy have told me I was correct and this was there mistake, not once did I receive an apology just some cock sure idiot and a bunch of girls also shouting and giggling in the background that also work there. So to prove a point and to get our money back which we got, my partner went down to the shop with the confirmation to prove the mistake was on their side which I think we can say was unexpected by the staff. A note for management you may want to put your immature under qualified to even deliver a pizza staff through a customer service course and maybe dealing with complaints policy applied, because the service and attitude we received was shocking you’ll most defiantly lose custom over it I know you’ve lost ours.

I would vote no stars but I have to put one star to make this review. Frankly the worst experience in my life. The lady was very rude and called me impolite despite me saying please and thank you. Then when she couldn’t find the postcode she decided to blame me and accuse me of making a prank call. She deserves to be sacked and then decided to hang up on me!!! Worst experience ever. I’m going to dominoes!

Ordered two pizzas for delivery, daughter assured me that the food was great. She was happy with hers but mine was cold with a greasy mess of congealed cheese and very few pepperoni slices and a minuscule number of tiny chilli slices on it. Base was both soggy and burned. One of the worst takeaway pizzas I have ever encountered. Never again !. Oh and if you question why I didn’t contact them to complain....only a replacement not a cash refund is offered if you read the terms and conditions and I certainly have no wish to ever eat their pizzas ever again.

Very friendly shop always with new products on offer. No pre owned items over £3.00. I donated my books. They are always looking for more stock. Definitely worth a visit. 2 minutes from the town centre. Pay and display parking available.

Let me 1st say that I am usually a big fan of PAPA JOHNS pizzas. I have eaten at this store many times in the past but its a franchise and I guess its changed hands since my good experiences there. I have had a problem with hygiene at this store a few weeks ago and again at the weekend so I will not be going to this branch again. My problem is with the handling of cash...In my opinion this should not be done by anyone who then touches your food and for the second time at this store the guys had his fingers in the till then straight to the pizzas to stretch and stuff. He was not gloved, infact his hands and the left till including the credit card machine were covered in pizza dough suggesting its a very regular occurrence. I have no clue why people in the food industry do not see this and sort it out, the guy that served me( seemed "in charge") also had a large beard that wasnt covered, so they wear baseball caps to cover head but chin they dont care?? To finnish me off the bacon topping was on the turn ( tasted piggy- cant think of another way to describe it), I didnt know till we got it home 7 miles away and couldnt be bothered to take it back so my dog had it. I will try the Rayleigh branch next time and hope for better.

Once in a blue moon we go to Papa Johns. Personally I think its slightly overpriced in comparison to the bigger chains. That said they make up for it in quality of the product and staff.

I order from Papa John's regularly and in particular, this store. The food is always hot and fresh, the delivery is timely. Having tried Dominos (awful delivery) and Pizza Hut (pizzas too oily) I have to give credit where credit is due.

Never tasted anything worse in my life so expensive and even had a long blonde hair in my chocolate brownie tray wouldn't recommend them to anyone Don't eat there people!!!

Ordered 3 times from here through the app and each time i have been very happy with quality of food & delivery time. Very tasty. Especially the cinnamon knots. Never had the garlic knots untill tonight and they are delicious. Would defiantly recommend this over pizza hut as they also do great deals and offers which saves you money. 👌👍👍

A WARNING TO ALL, STAY AWAY!!! You made me so ill i lost my whole night. i will never use this franchise again and im going to send my cousin the health inspector over there asap to see if he can shut you down you animals. Really good pizza never ordered from here so I thoughr I would give them a tey they exceeded my expectations amazing taste and a good pizza

First thing I would like to mention is that we have been a customer at Papa John's for a while and the pizzas themselves are good. However, recently I ordered food online quite late at night (11ish). We waited an hour and a half to receive our pizzas, after this timeframe we rung up the store asking where our pizza was and that we would like to cancel our order ( if the order was not dispatched) as we didn't want to wait any longer and to ask for a refund. The next day I received a phone call from the store, this phone call I was expecting an apology and the details of our refund. This was not the case, the person I spoke to refused our refund and said that they tried numerous times to call our phones and knocked on the door. Both my partner and I both had our phones on and not on silent and did not receive any phone calls.Additionally, from the moment we ordered our food we kept an eye on the front door and the road and there was not anyone that knocked on our door. The representative from the store was rude and did not see our point of view and has refused the refund. I will not be using this store or any other Papa John's store, the customer service was absolutely disgusting and I am very disappointed that a refund is not coming even though they have not fulfilled their side of the order.
