Good choice for drinks including cocktails and mocktails. Many choices for vegetarian and vegan foods. Quality food but portion sizes are not enough.

Excellent evening here. Very good food and excellent selection Of wines and beers. Staff were very attentive all evening which Made this a really good experience. The location is great close to Other bars etc so you don’t have to go far.

Highly recommended, just go. Visited on the recommendation of my wife’s colleague. Went in on a very wet Newcastle afternoon, hadn’t booked but luckily got a table. Staff were engaging and friendly, the only difficulty was making a choice from an excellent menu. We had a starter and main the food was fresh and full of flavour. Wine list was good and matched the food. The interior was nice bare brick, tables had ample room and a busy cheery atmosphere. Next visit we’ll be back for dinner.

A restaurant that refuses you on a Tuesday evening around 7 p.m. because it is supposedly full while a group of 10 was able to come in after me without a reservation either. It's not good to eat alone in this place. Business is business

I have been dining at Pani's with my family for almost 20 years now. It is the place with the most authentic Italian food and atmosphere that you can find in Newcastle.

Fabulous meal, great service. Best meal we have had for long time lovely seafood pasta spicy Sardinian sausage risotto, chicken dishes v tasty. Caters for gluten free and vegan diets without sacrificing taste. Desserts great too !

Second time I've been to Pani's...can't fault it and will be returning.

To be fair, the food was not my type, but I could see the effort in it, so I gave it 3 stars. (If this factor is excluded, I would probably rate 0) However the service was very poor, not a single person asked me how I felt about the food, but other customers have been asked:(

Really impressed with this Italian/Sardinian restaurant. We thought the menu was varied with some pasta dishes you don't typically see so that was a bonus. We had the sea bass and chicken/prawns which were both excellent and very well priced. Would definitely return.

I've been going to Panis since 1996 and I love everything about the place! Amazing food, not just your usual Italian, it's Sardinian and just that bit different but a whole lot better. Super friendly chilled out atmosphere and great service. Brilliant for a Saturday lazy lunch or an evening meal, if you need to be quick eg pre theatre that's never an issue either. Book to avoid a queue but tables are turned round quickly

I set eyes upon her and her beauty shone through like the first sunlight in decades, her glowing eyes sparkled with adoration. My date. Her hair fell naturally with light waves, I watched as the wind tussled it upon the approach of the restaurant. At this point I knew love had succumbed me. Her beauty stood out against the dark night and I hung upon her every word like a needle waiting to drop. She engaged me in tantalising conversation as we saw the Pani's door in sight. We sat down and I observed as her smile penatrated my heart like nothing before. Scran was good. Man watched me piss and made convo. Good night 5/5.

My very favourite place to have a quiet cuppa, meet friends.... it's really excellent! Brilliant staff, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. Love the outside seating area, both covered and open. Thoroughly recommend the Biscuit Factory!

Amazing food and friendly service! Really good value for money with decent portion sizes. We got the scallop and prawn ravioli and the chef special white wine, chicken stock sausage pasta. Both dishes were delicious. Will deffo be back! The best Italians in Newcastle

This is a fabulous place to eat. The food is delicious. The service is fast. The prices are value for money. The decor has been updated since my first visit which has modernised it and given it a rustic look. This has got to be my favourite place to eat. Beats all the chain Italian places easily. Finally tried a dessert as well as normally I can't finish my plate of food as the portions are fantastic. It's also has options for gluten and vegan diets. My 8 year old daughter also loved the food and she's a picky eater so any place new she tries some of my food and sticks to what she knows. (They do great chips) the waitress was happy to provide an additional small plate to accommodate this.

Staff were really accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us, asking about what we were celebrating etc they were lovely! Food was amazing as well and so cheap for the quality, the courgette fries are to die for. Couldn’t fault the place at all :)

Visited with a group of friends, food was average but terrible service. Firstly was rude to one of my friends for ordering a bottle of wine to herself asking if she was ‘sad’. Then as I wasn’t drinking asked me why I wasn’t drinking and when I didn’t give a direct answer asked if I was pregnant which is extremely rude.

We’ve eaten in Panis many times and never fail to have a lovely evening. The food is delicious, and there’s something for everyone. What makes Panis outstanding is the service, which comes with a genuine welcome. The staff, though busy, will take time to explain everything and anything; they clearly care about every customer having a good experience. Book in advance, as they are deservedly busy. We’ll be back!

Staying in Newcastle for the day went to Pani’s for both lunch and tea. The food is superb and the service pleasant. At no time did we feel under pressure. It does get busy at times and people were being turned away at 6pm. Thanks Bernard, Kiko and all the others

Lovely smart restaurant, was very busy but the service was excellent and the food was first class. I had the sea bass in polenta, very enjoyable. I paid in cash, bill was £53.85. Gave the waiter £55 and awaited change then was going to tip. He never returned. I know it was a pittance change but that doesn't matter. As we left I mentioned the no change and he turned to till and said its here. Told him too late! He would have got a tip otherwise

Great food at a reasonable price. Interesting menu with lots of things you won't find in the well known large Italian restaurant chains. Even without considering the specials it was hard to pick what to eat with so many great choices so we'll definitely be going back to try some of the other options.

What a find! Table was later than we would usually book but glad we decided to do it anyway. Service was so friendly and prompt, food was first class and absolutely delicious, and wine was well priced with plenty of choice. Sadly far too full for dessert. Next time - main and dessert! Will definitely be back.

I've lived here most of my life and walked past this place 100s of times and haven't realised or sampled the food they have on offer. Great experience from the staff (Nathan) and recommended dishes.. all of which were fantastic. This may be my new regular Italian spot in town. Best to pre book as this place was busy and always this way apparently.

Went for lunch today with my husband and we were disappointed. We had to wait for a table, despite several empty ones within view. Lots of staff milling about, achieving very little. Eventually shown to a table and drinks order taken fairly swiftly, however waited sometime to order food. Food and wine were delicious, but our coffees never appeared, so we gave up and asked for the bill. Staff seemed very attentive to customers who appeared to be regulars, but we felt as though we were an inconvenience! We shan't be going again, but I'm sure this won't upset them. We are genuinely polite customers and we usually tip well, but not this time.

Family run restaurant which is well worth a try. Great food and Wine at very good prices. Good attentive staff of which nothing is too much trouble. If in Newcastle give this place a try, you wont be disappointed!

Fabulous authentic Sardinian restaurant, been going for years we have and it gets better and better , excellent food and wine and staff who are 1st class , highly recommend

We wanted to try a new Italian, and we where recommended Panis, we first arrived at 12:30 only to find it fully booked, so we went on the booked app and managed to get a table booked for 13:30. When we came back it was still busy but we had our table which was ready, the menu is a Sardinian twist on Italian, the menus is excellent, they dont sell Pizzas! We opted for SAUSAGE ALLA GRIGLIA Chargrilled Sardinian sausage ring served on a spicy risotto with tomato,spinach and lentils. & SPIGOLA Seabass fillets pan-fried, seasoned with polenta and served with a tiger prawns,cherry tomatoes, spring onion, saffron, chilli, garlic, white wine and butter sauce. And to finish a Panna Cotta, the quality and presentation was excellent a very busy restaurant and with a different take on dishes. We will return, and plan the visit by booking in advance. Good value and worth a visit.

An absolutely amazing Italian restaurant. I tend to not like going out to Italian restaurants as they tend not to be great but I was definitely surprised by how good Pani’s was. The quality of the ingredients were great and the flavours were amazing. The staff were all super attentive and the service was very quick despite how busy it was. And to top it all off, the pricing was quite reasonable and they don’t include a service charge on the end of the bill. 10/10 would visit again.

We had lunch here while visiting friends who live locally and come here frequently. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the restaurant was busy, but nothing was too much trouble. Our food arrived freshly cooked and was delicious. A place we will definitely consider returning to when we next visit Newcastle.

Family flew into town and wanted to go somewhere nice. Reserved a table for the 24. December by phone. Never got a confirmation, so I sent an email a week prior, never got an answer. Checked the website and see that they are closed on 24th and 25th… thanks for nothing

Up there with one of the best meals of our lives. I’m glad we booked ahead as it was a fully packed-out restaurant and it was buzzing when we arrived at 7pm on a Thursday. We devoured the Bisque (raviolo) and culurgiones fritti starters, washed down with a fresh and fragrant Akenta Cuvée 71. Star of the show was the panciotti con capesante on the specials menu, which comprised ravioli bursting with flavours of the sea, dotted with fresh swordfish. Whether it was all of the seafood shells used to create the gorgeous sauce, or the bottarga dusted all over the dish, this dish sang of the sea and Sardinia and we didn’t want it to end! I will return again and again to re-enter nirvana as I did that night. Pani’s is also very reasonably priced. To the point where we had to check our bill and realised that one course (our favourite) had been undercharged, so advised them to update the till as it was certainly worthy of the full price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pani's Cafe is convenient located at Newcastle City center. It's always full and reservation is advised. Food are tasty & delicious.

Been to pannis lots of times never let us down yet ,Hubby and I celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with 14 of the closest of our family and friends . Once again food perfect, service brilliant as well as the staff been very attentive if you haven’t been you have to give it a go you won’t be disappointed

Absolute madness stopping the numero cinque on the menu! Our favourite thing and you've stopped doing them. Unfortunately wont be coming in again. Been coming over 20 years. Last time I was in and asked about it, I was rudely grunted at and ignored. Terrible way to treat a loyal customer of 20 years. I havent got the heart to leave less than 4 stars though as thats 20 years of eating that beautiful number 5. PLEASE put it back on the menu.

We eat at Pani’s regularly and every time the food has been amazing! Really authentic, lots of unusual things to try on the menu too which are all delicious! The waiters are super helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is really lovely, and all round it is a really special dining experience.

I regularly go to panis whilst in town. Myself and my parents love the place. Staff are always friendly. Food is great, always pipping hot. Can’t fault the place. Great Covid restrictions in place too

I’ve been visiting Pani’s now for over 10 years and it never fails, the food is always amazing and they have the most welcoming staff. The restaurant has adapted excellently to provide social distancing and safe service, whilst still having a great atmosphere.

Comimos aquí la segunda noche de una visita a Newcastle y quedamos muy impresionados. Teníamos Polpette y Curlurgiones (con mayonesa de azafrán) para empezar seguidos de Pasta Arrabbiata y cazuela de salchicha italiana del menú de especialidades. El personal de servicio fue muy servicial con sugerencias y sirvió la comida rápidamente. Todo estaba absolutamente delicioso. Hemos visitado Italia muchas veces y la comida que se sirve en Pani's parecía muy auténtica. Todo regado con una bonita botella de Chianti (¡tsssse!). Mi esposo terminó con 3 bolas de delicioso helado y yo estaba planeando probar su cannoli pero estaba tan lleno que no pude manejarlo. ! Recomendamos encarecidamente este restaurante.

Mi primera visita desde que se introdujeron los controles covid y ¡es fabuloso! Inmaculadamente limpio como siempre, covid seguro con mucho espacio y se siente "normal" mientras es súper seguro. La comida era fabulosa, el personal es increíblemente amable y nos lo pasamos de maravilla. Si buscas comida deliciosa y de alta calidad a un precio razonable y en un entorno encantador, ¡ve a Panis! ¡Hicieron el cumpleaños de una niña encerrado!

Impecable de principio a fin.Nos recibió en la puerta un amable miembro del personal y enseguida nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. El personal y el servicio fueron amables en todo momento. Muy bueno de verdad.En cuanto a la comida. Maravilloso. La sopa de pescado es una obra maestra ya los tres nos encantaron nuestros platos principales. Una lubina, una dolcelatte de pollo y una cazuela de salchichas. Mis fotos probablemente no le hacen justicia. Grandes colores, grandes sabores.Una comida muy agradable.

We've been to this lovely, welcoming restaurant several times recently, during the recent meal deals, We will be returning. We noticed the fantastic effort made to ensure social distancing was archived. Also we felt very comfortable with the care shown to clean all areas to re the Covid19 virus. The food is absolutely scrumptious, have tried a few great options ,the vegetarian anti pasto starter and Sea bass main course are my favourite.

Entorno agradable, habitación preciosa, servicio consumado. Excelente espacio entre mesas y cumplimiento de Covid sin sentirse clínico. Platos buenos, rústicos, pero las especialidades sardas son geniales y diferentes a las italianas habituales. Las culurgiones Rossi fueron hermosas. Buena selección de vinos y selecciones interesantes. ¡Se nota que han estado haciendo esto durante mucho tiempo y que les va bien!

Lunch today was absolutely to die for. Polpette starter was juicy delicious and fresh. Lobster and scallop ravioli was orgasmic!!! Full of scallop and lobster meat... no scrimping here. Caprese salad as yummy as ever. Service excellent. So happy with the experience I have decided to cancel my birthday outing next week and come back here instead.

We had lunch here on Monday. We had pre-booked , it was a good job we did as people were being turned away. Despite being busy the food and service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for top quality food reasonably priced. The Ravioli filled with asparagus was delicious.

Went back to Panis on Saturday lunchtime after 5 months and found it to be as good as ever. The food was excellent, staff as friendly as ever and good value and, unlike some other restaurants it is strictly observing Covid safety regulations.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime and we were made to feel very comfortable with all of the appropriate safety measures in place - the food was delicious and I’ll definitely be visiting again to try some more of the expansive menu!

I’ve been going to Pani’s for years and their food is consistently delicious. The staff are always lovely, the service is always great and it’s really good value for money. We went tonight again for our first meal out post-lockdown and it was tremendous. The food was as tasty as ever and as were so impressed by how much care and attention has been put into keeping everyone safe. The staff are following the rules about social distancing etc to the letter. I’m so pleased that Pani’s have managed to re-open. The food has been amazing for 20 years and they really deserve to do well because of this and how safe they made us feel

Everytime we come home to Newcastle we return to Panis as it is truly authentic Sardinian food. I was disappointed not to see my favourite squid ink pasta on the covid reduced menu but with great service from the waiter and chef they personally made it for me lovely to see the same team working there for over 15yrs and they also made us an affogato which again was not on the menu! A must visit for both geordies and tourists alike!

We have been regular customers in the restaurant for 10 years and have always found the food and service to be excellent. In light of Coronavirus it was great to see that Pani's have been able to adapt to these difficult times. We have had the take-out four times during lockdown so far, and the food is consistently their usual excellent quality. It is hot and fresh when you arrive to pick it up at the prearranged time, and packaged carefully and cleverly for transport. They adhere to social distancing on pickup and the staff are clearly wearing appropriate PPE to protect themselves and us. As always, delicious food, fabulous value for money, and a pleasure to be able to support a fantastic local independent business.

First impressions of this place wasn't great since I called up to make the booking but they left me on hold for more than 10 minutes half way through then the phone got cut off.When we arrived at the designated time anyway, we weren't greeted in a welcoming manner and were left to wait for our table. We also found it really difficult to get the attention of the waiters when we wanted to place our orders. We were ignored repeatedly. When we did managed to get the attention of three different members of staff, they all said that couldn't take our orders bizarrely. Again more waiting until the manager eventually came to take our orders.Our starters took a long time to arrive. We had the garlic bread, bruschetta and fish soup which all tasted lovely. We were overall happy with the mains as well but the portion of ravioli was a little mean with just 10 ravioli on the plate. The food at this place was nice but the standard of service does not attract me to return.

This was my third visit to this excellent restaurant, the staff cannot do enough for you, so pleasant even on a very busy evening... The food is very good indeed and reasonably priced, I had the Pollo Dolcelatta which was beautiful, there was seven of us and we were delighted with our choices, for drinks we chose an Italian Sauvignon Blanc , not disappointing... as Arni would say “ we will be back”
