Panicos in Stockport

tried this after it changed hands . i got a chicken kebab the meat was raw on the inside . i wont be returning . it was always fantastic before it changed hands.

Ordered the lamb and pork kebab we always had with the old owners which we looked forward to every week. Have heard lots of negative comments about the new management but decided to give them a chance. We were disappointed it was a smaller portion and the meat quality was poor. It was also tepid. At best a 5/10! Such a shame this was a great place. Now I won’t be visiting again.

Decided to give Panicos a try as it was really good before it changed hands. We got a special kebab and threw most of it away. Most of the meat was raw inside, no halumi and the pitta bread was like a Frisbee. Won't be going back again.

This is my first order since the change of management. Not terribly friendly on collection of the order. The chips were undercooked and pale. The Greek salad had 2 cubes of fetta, the olives which used to be whole are now sliced, the cucumber is quartered and the onions were minuscule and the slices of tomato wouldn't have accumulated to one whole tomato. The order was taken wrong over the phone so we were one Kebab short, resulting in my mum having to make cheese on toast for her tea. We rang to let them know we were one short and they responded just telling us we were only charged for one, no resolution was offered. Won't be ordereding again, such a shame, this was my families favourite takeaway

Oh dear. What was probably the best kebab shop within 5 miles in any direction and certainly the best value has been taken over. I didn't actually even get as far as ordering as despite the guy serving saying 'everything is the same'; the menu tells a different story. I reckon +15-25% added on, simply because of new owners. I'll give it 6 months before they either sell up or reduce the quality so much you could go to the Joker down the road. Why oh, why do new owners do this? Take a great business with great food, then think they can simply add on 25% without even proving that they are worth what the original owners charged? Fair enough; if 6 months down the line you have a business, even better than you took over. But to basically say 'our food is worth 25% more than the last guy'; especially when that was one of the best kebabs around?? Ridiculously arrogant... Won't be going back. I visited this place twice a week for the last 3 years because it was always very good food and service. After today's experience though, I'm sorry to say that I don't think I'll be going again. The place seems to have new owners and the service was appallingly slow, and when I eventually got my chips they tasted horrible.

Ordered just a simple chip butty so surely you'd have to look at the bread to check it and put it in the tray so not sure how you would miss this

Had fish and chips on Saturday fish was very dry,chips not up to the standard they used to be.

Really good kebabs worth the travel I come from south Manchester sometimes just for a donner kebab and chips … the original panicos guy from Chorlton if you remember them times and you come here and taste the kebabs it will take you back about 15-20 years 😩 .. like the mix of chilli sauce the hot one and spicy .. tzatziki is 7/10 … good selection of drinks… can take a while to get food ready sometimes… order in advance…. I want a kebab now after writing this 🤣🤣😩

Had fish and chips. Portion was good size and tasted great, price ok as well. Had kebabs cooking while I was there look and smelled awsome be trying them next.

Travelled 15 mins to get my son's a treat for their tea. Ordered chicken burger with chips,Donner kebab and chips and chicken wings with chips. Got home only to find the order was wrong and wings were inedible.One portion of chips were missing.Only gave me Donner meat with chips, chicken burger tasted and looked like it was a pre made one. Chicken wings tasted pre cooked then frozen, we're dry and charred way too much, couldn't eat them as it was like eating a charcoal brick .

Great chipy and probably the best kebabs

It was our first time and definitely coming back. Ordered small chicken pitas and side of chips - if you like char on your meat and fresh chips, this is the place! Also, great service!

1st time there this week! The food was soo tasty and there was enough left for an early evening buffer! You need to start delivery because your food needs to be shared

Ordered by phone, arrived and food was ready. Ordered the mixed kebab, Pork/Chicken and Lamb, really good. Also ordered a Small Chicken kebab and Chips and a Steak pie and Chips and Gravy. All the food was spot on.

In marple on the main road you will get the best barbecue grill kebabs or fish and chips 🍟 😋 massive menu definitely recommend 👌

Fish dried out ,batter rock hard suggest they cook to order,no napkins you had to ask when eating in, very cold no heating

If you are passing through Marple this is a must-do food. The souvlakis are brilliant, loads of freshly cooked chicken, fresh crispy salad and the hot sauce is HOT! The chicken is cooked in front of you on a real flame-grill and they use the dark chicken meat which stays really moist. Well worth a visit.

It’s amazing the chips are amazing kebabs are amazing cheap best place in uk !!! Highly recommend

Took my two teens for the best kebabs in stockport at Panicos last night. I had the pork and chicken and it was delicious, meat was tasty, fresh and melt in the mouth.

I've always recommended Panicos to people, their kebabs are excellent. Decided to have a fish on Friday evening. BIG MISTAKE. The batter was so thick it was raw in the middle and looked like a quilt it was so thick and raw. The fish was really dry and smelled funny. It all went in the bin. Sent them a message but they ignored me. An expensive mistake

We are regulars at Panicos and their special mix is excellent. Ordered a fish this time and it was pro6the worst I have had. The batter was so thick so it wasnt cooked inside and resembled a mattress. The fish was dry, and had a weird taste. I messaged them to explain and they ignored me.

Food wasn't bad but this guy doesn't have a scooby about how to close a box or wrap it up properly , i will suggest this guy take a course on how to close a tray and wrap it up because I don't think people like eating out of plastic bags your sincerely customer.

Onmy gave 1 because can't give minus 1. Stood at counter for minutes totally blanked me and served the next person who didn't want his order for 30 minutes. Did t look that clean probably close escape..... won't bother again.....

Well the kebabs are ok. In fact other half really enjoys them but of the 3 times I've not wanted kebab twice I've ended up disappointed. We ask for steak pie and twice now I've ended up with peppered steak pie. We ask for steak because I can't eat the peppered steak ones. I'll have to drop my tea off our order because I can't guarantee the staff will concentrate on getting the right thing, infact it's looking like the staff think steak and peppered steak are the same which they are not

Great kebabs, so fresh and tasty!

Food very average for the price. But not anywhere near as bad as the service! Ordered over the phone, told an hour wait time. When came to pick up order an hour later, were continually told we were next and waiting a further 20 minutes for food. Absolute shambles.

Best kebabs! The chicken kofta is beautiful.

Had a donner kebab from here and it was spot on. Like the boss said it’ll fill you up more than a pizza. He was right. I’ll go again next time I’m in the area.

We always go to Panicos for their excellent special kebabs but wanted fish and chips. We have always been really disappointed with the fidh and chips in the centre of Marple so tried here. They were excellent the fish were huge and the batter was perfect. We would get a fish between us next time as they were so big. Highly recommend

Can't believe some of the negative reviews for Panicos. It's serves the most delicious authentic kebabs we've tasted outside Greece. My son can't get enough of them. And the staff are great too. Love the owner who shouts out the orders like he's running a taverna on some Greek island (although they're Cypriot I think). My kids like sitting in, if there's a space. Always a great experience.

I have not ordered a kebab from here for a, while. I ordered the special mixed kebab. Which was cooked fresh to order. Loads of tasty lamb doner meat, grilled chicken drumstick, various pieces of cooked marinated lamb, minced lamb kebab pieces and lamb halomi olong with loads of mixed salad, tstasiki and a small portion of chips. All delicious and very tasty. Lovely Cypriot food. They do a, range of other kebabs. Fish and chip shop items. All delicious with excellent service.

As there is no likelihood of us getting to our favourite island in Greece any time in the next 4-5 months, I thought I would try a souvlaki from Panicos. I chose the large lamb with pitta bread and small chips. and was very satisfied. The "small" portion of chips was more than enough (my wife stole about a third of them, and it still left me with plenty), and the substantially sized pitta was stuffed full of lamb perfectly grilled (just part of one small piece was overcooked/burnt, but when I barbeque I never achieve such consistency). I will definitely go back, as I need to try both the chicken and lamb versions.

The owner was not wearing a face mask just his member staff. Also all the customers was not wearing mask and it was not enforced by the owner. Such a same because usually it’s great food and service but during these times of covid-19 staff should always be safe!

Went here for the first time and I’m very disappointed and this was why. I ordered a large Donna kebab and it wasn’t very big for the price. Also the Donna meat was sliced really thin you could almost see through it with not much taste. My friend had the chicken kebab and it looked and tasted very good so maybe if I go again I’ll have one of them. It’s very clean and the staff are very nice but there are better kebabs in and around the surrounding areas as far as I’m concerned but it was just ok. Lots of other things on the menu so it’s up to you. It’s location is coming up from dam bank go to the top of Marple through the lights and it’s just on the right hand side. We usually have a mixed kebab from here which has always been excellent. We have been really disappointed with the fish and chips in Marple so gave Panicos a try. Excellent fish with crisp batter and really good chips. Very happy. Never had bad food from here

Visited this shop a few weeks ago, amazing! They used to own Panicos - Chorlton. Very welcoming! family run business and friendly. Went back this evening, as delicious as ever. Highly recommend. Very well priced. Thank you Panicos for a fantastic service and delicious meal. :)

Had fish and chips twice from here now and they have been spot on both times

Finally got around to trying the fish and chips (As soon as I go in the door I usually go straight fro the chicken Souvlaki). Absolutely brilliant fish, I went for the lightly battered option and it was great. The batter was still crunchy when I got home and the fish are so big! As usual the chips were fantastic, they only cook them in very small batches so they are always very fresh. Overall, the fish and chips are superb, well worth a try.

Had a lamb shaslick and a halloumi kebab tonight. Both were really tasty and were a good portion. Didnt need the large. Humus was also fresh and homemade tasting. Kebab sauces were quite fruity and seemed to be self made. Can recommend wholeheartedly.

I had not been to this Cypriot chippy for a while. I waited for around 5 minutes to be a served. My order was taken by a polite member of the counter staff. They only take cash and no card payments. They have all 4he usual English chippy favourites and a number of Cypriot kebab dishes. We all had haddock in a crispy batter with tasty haddock and a large portion. A good portion of golden brown chips. I had a lovely curry sauce, good mushy peas. All 3 of us enjoyed our fish and chips. Well recommended.

Food is really tasty especially the kebabs, but the service is shocking! Either the person taking the orders is making mistakes or the person cooking is! We've ordered 4 weeks in a row, week 1 all was well, week 2 made the same order with the addition of hot sauce on 2 of the kebabs and no tomato on any kebabs all kebabs came with the sauce on and tomato which spoilt our meal! Week 3 we ordered similar food again but this time we received an extra kebab which we were charged for (we wanted 4 got 5) this time it seemed like the food had been under the heat lamps for a long time, we were told 1 hour wait which was fine and we collected 1 hour later. The salad on the kebabs had turned brown and quite sloppy, spoilt food again! Week 4 we thought we would try again and again the order was wrong 2 of the kebabs should have had donner meat which we paid for and no donner meat!! Last thing the prices on the Facebook page aren't right last updated 2017

It's a bold claim, but these are the best chips in Marple. Whack a bit of Salt and Vinegar on those bad boys, and all is right with the world.

Our office goes nearly every Friday, highly recommended for lunch. Sometimes a bit of a wait so worth calling orders ahead. We all absolutely love this place. Thanks Panicos!

Another great meal today. The large chicken kebabs are a challenge for any appetite, even mine. The quality is outstanding, loads of really tasty and properly grilled chicken, crisp and crunchy salad and very tasty sauces. The staff are so friendly and work at an impressive pace, getting orders out very efficiently so you are soon out of the door with the very best kebabs in the area.Well worth a try.

I'm usually sceptical about take aways that offer a broad menu, however, we've found the chips to be perfect, the Greek food to be authentic and the kebabs to be "very nice". We will return.

Past this place lots always packed which is a good indicator. Overwhelmed by what to choose so had the lamb and the chicken kebab in a pitta bread with all the salad and just salt and lemon juice. My chicken kebab was superb the salad was fresh as it can be and the chicken pieces were soft with just the right amount of charcoal burning just superb. I’m told by my better half that simply the lamb kebab was the best she has ever had. All cooked fresh to order can’t wait to try the donner meat kebab which looked good

Had an awful donner kebab from here tonight. I think it was the scraggy bits of the very end of a kebab. Rather than long pieces of carved meat my kebab was packed full of tiny pieces of hard dry meat that was not nice. I feel ripped off and can’t believe they would serve this or charge full price for it. Just blatantly profiteering. Chips were ok. Won’t be going back here again.

Under new ownership new menu had a lovely meal

It was right brilliant and reminded me of Cyprus.

The staff here work really hard to keep up with high demand. Standards are impeccable every time. The manager ‘cares’ about the food and service which is rare these days. Tasty, fresh and authentic food. I’m impressed.

The best greek salad and kebab in stockport

Not great .just average . Think for Marple it's probably the best but the standard isn't very high in marple. Food is ok I guess . Just very slow takes nearly 10 minutes for a kebab when you're at the front of the queue. Also large donna kebab is £5.20 and I've never had a small Donner with such little meat. .. not sure where the large becomes large ..

Chips are usually great from here. Tonight though, they were clearly reheated from lunch time. They tasted awful! The owner is miserable and rude to his staff which doesn’t entice you back in a hurry.

We love the choices here, all freshly cooked and served by friendly staff - it’s great for vegetarians too. Although it’s mainly a takeaway there are tables for those wishing to eat on the premises too. Highly recommended!

Best kebabs take away ever! Fresh salad worth eating made to order, love it. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, I love haloumi kebab salad and all sauces! Perfect on a Saturday evening.

This is our Friday night go to. Sometimes the wait is quite long as there are a lot of phone orders. The owner is always very friendly to us. Strange that Julie V hasn't done a good review of anywhere. Some people are never happy

Chaotic is the only word that adequately descrives this establishment. The greek proprietor spends his time cooking kebabs on the grill while barking out orders to the 2 beleagured female members of staff who appear to have little or no time for the customers.

Excellent pitta with haloumi and salad. Great service, good selection of greek food and fish and chips. Clean and well run.

I was visiting Marple and saw "Souvlaki" on the window of this fish and chip shop. I hoped it meant they did authentic kebabs and they did. They offer chicken and pork as well as doner kebabs. I opted to have mine without pitta, so it was a healthy, tasty, great value option. I will be back. Ευχαριστώ πολύ

The chicken souvlaki is fantastic! Great chicken, I think they use the dark meat so it stays moist. The salads is always fresh and crisp and the hot sauce is the best!
