The food and staff were excellent especially the bar lady called Beth, Charlie and the excellent manager Rachel. Would recommend this place and the food and atmosphere. 5 stars for me.

Yesterday we celebrated our baby’s christening at the Horse and Farrier pub with family and friends. The booking process was easy and overall it was very reasonably priced. They sectioned off a part of the pub for our party and provided everything we could have needed without any hassle or stress. The food was commented on by all of our guests as being very tasty and was piping hot! We would like to express a huge thanks to all of the staff working on that shift - chefs Tracy and Marc, the manager Karen and team members Ryan and Keane (sorry to anyone we may have missed). Would highly recommend and would definitely book again for any future gatherings and celebrations!

First of all, I wish that there is an option for half a star,had Sunday roast, it was gorgeous apart from the cabbage, my husband and I left it as it was not done enough, apart from that it was excellent

Big thank you to the lovely Mia and Karen for looking after us two oldies today.The food was perfect, I had the Pork loin with Pepper Sauce and my friend had the Chicken with Mushroom Sauce, Savoy Cabbage( which was cooked perfectly) with mash. Dessert was Elton Mess( menu says Pavlova) and like the two big kids me and my best friend of many years are we asked for lots of meringue and the lovely lady gave it to us.We loved the menu as a lot of pubs serve the same dishes and we were so happy the Savoy Cabbage was on the menu. If you have not tried this gem of a pub you really need to try it out as you will not be disappointed.❤️👌🏻

Recently attended with my wife and daughter for an afternoon meal. We ordered at the bar, within a few minutes, cutlery and sauces were placed on the table. 10 minutes later food was served, all three meals were really nice. Great pub, excellent service from the bar lady.

We are a group of 21 people of a certain age! 5th December we ascended on the horse and farrier for the Christmas fayre meal. The food was lovely and the 2 ladies who served us (sorry can't remember names) were absolutely brilliant! Well done to Chris and all his team for very enjoyable night We wouldn't hesitate to do it again!!

10/10 for the Farrier. Not our first visit - and certainly won't be our last. As casual diners we like to try new places, but we know that The Horse and Farrier never fails. As part of a group of 30 (maybe 29) I along with my fellow bridge players had our annual lunch this week. What a delightful afternoon we had, the prosecco flowed, the chat was animated, and the service was impeccable, the food was very tasty and the time flew by. The staff were very attentive and considerate of our varied needs (some more demanding than others!) Nothing was too much trouble for the servers, full credit to all of them as well as the chef(s) the timings were perfect with just the right amount of time in between courses. Succulent turkey, fresh potatoes, and parsnips and the carrot and swede mash was lovely! (My friend had the seabass and was making sure every last bit was cleared from her plate.) I would have no qualms about returning, whether that be with friends and family, or our larger group that dine out quite regular. Thanks to Rachel Christina and Laura, and the young man on the bar was lovely too!

After 5 years at a different venue we were drawn into the Farrier by a new member of your staff, Rachel. We've known Rachel socially and have been looked after beautifully at our weekly meets, when she told us where she was now working we wasted no time getting booked in for lunch, usually 45/50 of us descend for a 2 or 3 course meal so it was a joy to see the festive fayre menu this year, we booked and secured our date and didn't have a concern that there would be any issues, how right we were! The food was absolutely delicious, clearly all fresh and prepared with care, served with the delightful efficiency we have come to expect from Rachel and any team she may lead. The setting was wonderfully intimate for our group with the personal touches we have grown accustomed to were paramount. We cannot thank you (her) enough, we had a lovely afternoon and will absolutely be back - the main menu looks great and is more than value for money knowing that it's all so fresh. Please pass on our thanks to the team, Rachel Keane and Christina are the ones that made a lasting impression on us, and have cemented our return for future events and social gatherings

Just went in for 1 drink after eating at a nearby restaurant, so didn't it there. Large bar, plenty of seating. Good drink selection. We moved tables as the one we initially sat at was not clean and was sticky.

Been coming here years and the drinks are very well priced. In the winter months the fire is often going and it's a cosy place to sit doing crosswords. They have multiple TVs showing sport too if that's your preference often with plenty of friendly people around. Good choice of pub classics on offer at fair prices which are tasty as well. Top pub.

Came to watch the football for my son's birthday, the table that was booked for us was perfect, right in front of the screen. There was even a personal touch wishing him a happy birthday. The staff couldn't do enough and the food was spot on. A fabulous time was had by all. No matter when we come here the service is also great. Thank you for being a fabulous local

28.10.2024. Went in with mum and sister. I asked for a fish recommendation and was told the fish pie. It didn't disappoint! In fact it was packed full of beautifully cooked fish and giant prawns and was one of the best, if not the best fish pies I've ever had. It was really delicious. The others had fish and chips which were also praised and the prawn cocktail starter which was a good size and delicious too with lovely bread. The two females serving, one as stand in manager i believe, were both lovely, attentive and helpful. Great pub with great service and delicious food. Prices were good and definitely value for money.

Was my local for 15 or so years and still visit regularly. Lot of changes over the last 20 odd years but retains the pub feel still and always a good atmosphere, good beer and usually great staff. Food is decent pub grub on the odd occasion I've eaten there too. Basically if you want a "pub" pub, the Farrier should be on your list.

Booked for Sunday early evening as a foursome. The service was poor & the meals(roasts /haddock) were very disappointing. Not what we expected after reading the reviews. In fact we had much better haddock & chips later in the week at the Old Keswickian! Very overated.

Excellent deals on the food offer and the drinks aren't overly expensive. Comfortable and friendly I often pop on here on my own during the week.

Loved the space for drinks but all food tasted like fish and chips which i am not a fan of but for drinks and chill it's nice

Great to return to an old haunt after so many years. Tastefully altered and decorated, fantastic ales, great staff. Hats off Hydes. This visit was with the inclusion of lunch. The brunch was very satisfying along with the chicken burger.

Excellent food can recommend the Sunday lunch. Great choice of cask beers. Staff are extremely helpful and go out if their way to ensure customers have a great visit. Debbie was amazing, very helpful and accommodating helping us with table seating.

Good selection of beers, friendly staff and good atmosphere

Very friendly amotosphere was great we were made to feel very welcome by Karen I explained we wanted a quieter area as my wife is hard of hearing to have some lunch and drinks so karen shown us a nice quiet area of the pub so we ordered some drinks and starters and mains the food was lovely and was presented well we didn't have to wait too long so compliments to the chef and thankyou Karen for making us feel at home and very welcome nothing was too much trouble for her she even brought our drinks over for us as I was struggling to carry them we will definitely be coming back the service and food was excellent

Called in for lunch before going to see Blossoms at Wythenshaw Park. I had Sunday lunch with Turkey which was really lovely only criticism is no mashed potato 😞. My husband had chicken in a basket which was really nice too. After eating watched the Newcastle game and had a few drinks. Bar staff were really nice and friendly. Had a nice time would definitely go again if we are there for a concert again.

I come in here a couple of times a month - it’s a lovely welcoming pub. Just a couple of points which could make it better Several staff members chew chewing gum excessively whilst serving especially a young girl with black hair - I feel when serving there should be no chewing gum or be told to chew more discreetly. A lady who serves food (I think she’s a new manager) has really long matted hair I feel this is very unhygienic and maybe she should wear a hair net when serving. There’s also a really grumpy older lady behind the bar I try to avoid being served by her luckily she only seems to work day time hours. A positive note to end the pub is well run by Liz and always very clean for a pub there’s also a lovely young lady who always serves with a smile (I forget her name but she’s just finished an Art course at Trafford College)

Great service, food was tasty and filling. Dirty dog could have had more filling to be fair but everything else was lovely. Nice chilled atmosphere in the afternoon.

Nice pub, nice beer garden, staff really polite the food wasnt great, ordered turkey ciabatta &gravy it wasnt great dried up little bits of meat on a cob of bread garlic cheese bread looked microwaved and stale, maybe it was just a bad choice as others food looked great

My wife and I have recently started to frequent the Horse & Farrier however after the reception we received on Wednesday 22nd May we will never return. On arrival we were met by a lady, don’t know her name, however can best be described as middle aged with long hair bleached and fashioned into ringlets….. you will know who you are by this description! You are the rudest person we have ever had the displeasure of meeting, rude and abrasive and possessing zero service mind. Ok we can always have a bad day however don’t bring this into the workplace because you are the face of the business. My advice is try to attain a brighter disposition and enrol on an intensive course on customer relationships and good manners. You have lost a new customer, we are going back to the Red Lion Cheadle where the staff are a delight.

Times it poorly with the hot weekend so wasn't the bussiest, but service was excellent especially Mia and Jack who were both extremely welcoming and attentive! Also having shamrocks on the Guinness was a brilliant bonus

I have visited here on numerous occasions, I normally don't review but feel I must after last night 1st may as I wasn't happy. Upon arriving being a disabled driver I found the designated parking spot by a non blue badge holder. Upon entering the building the bar staff a lady in black t-shirt & pony tail asked if she could help.i gave my order all to usual standard I informed her that there was a large new jaguar car parked in disabled bay and not displaying blue badge. This wasn't acted on or seemed to bother her. I suffer with severe mobility problems after a stroke I had to park as far from entrance as I could off as it was only available space left. There were a group of gentlemen outside I presume it belonged to one of them none looked disabled as I looked when I left. The food I had mixed grill was dry, the other bar staff lady was very nice and older lady she is always very helpful and pleasant. I shall return but probably not for awhile I felt let down as a disabled customer as the younger lady must of thought I'm not saying anything to the jaguar owner in case they left this service is disgusting disabled bays are there for a reason for DISABLED people I live in Gatley this is terrible for the pub and needs redressing please

I've drank in this pub for 36 years. So disappointed that your hounded out of the pub. I'll never drink in their again. Absent manager, untrained staff and unclean premises, with toilets that have not been looked after for months.

Called in about 6pm for a quick drink. The place was very busy, mainly with diners. Clearly, this pub is doing something right.

Went there with my daughter she's13 to watch the football it has a great atmosphere the staff are amazing we've actually been twice now and we have to say the food is amazing and it's family a great friendly place the prices are reasonable for the food and drinks.

Nice pub! Shame about the Hydes wifi which sucks to login to and there’s no mobile signal (ed: to clarify we were trying to laise with a friend who was stuck in traffic trying to join us. The signal was so bad that I had to go outside to check/send WhatsApp messages. I would really advise Hydes to make their wifi as easy as possible to use.)

Drink in here often, beer fine. Second time trying the food...awful. Fish n chips, soggy slimy batter, hard chips. The "steak and kidney suet pudding" is a dried up, brown, hard pie. The chef needs to nip over to the chippy for a proper suet pudding. Same hard and dry chips, and a small jug of watery gravy. And little change out of £30 with the beer. Our village is crying out for decent pub food

1st time here only live 2mins away the food is amazing the staff are brilliant not miserable which doesn't happen much in this day and age. Inside is so cosy feels like a traditional English pub not to loud but plenty of people enjoying themselves ill be here once a month now I would say it seems a bit pricey but I don't go out much so it might be the average price for beer and food but 100% recommend and kept asking if I had allergies when I ordered food

We went in today 4 adults 3 children, we were greeted, seated amd chatting to the staff within 2 minutes. High chairs bought over to us at the table. The young waitress was chatting tot he kids. The children's meals were fantastic prices and quality. The Sunday roast were all fresh and tasty. We most certainly will be back.

Came back here after just 3 weeks when I left 5 star review. So disappointed, ordered Sunday roast duo my wife had roast beef dinner. When it came there was a very thin measly slice of beef with some turkey, explained to waitress I was disappointed she took it away then came back saying this was "the spec" for the duo, I replied I do not want it then as had it 3 weeks ago and was over the moon with the meal. The asst manager told her to tell me that if I wanted the beef, I would have to pay for both. Needless to say I took It to the manager and told him I was not having it and wanted beef, which came back on same plate minus the turkey with 1 extra slice of beef added. Needless to say will not be returning this after 20 years of calling here not as a regular but often especially for food. Avoid like the plague.

Nice afternoon, lovely burgers outside, inches cider.

We came here a couple of weeks ago, it was a Friday evening begin of July , we stood at the bar for 15-20mins waiting to get served, we eventually got served , by young lad , who was also serving someone else at the same time (obviously a regular) then left us to then look for the card machine, that another member of staff needed , Eventually 10mins later getting our drinks we sat down with friends , We then went to bar again later in the evening to get large round in , again stood there waiting , 5 staff on not that busy but again waited & waited , we were right in front of main till front of bar , this time the young blonde girl seemed to be ignoring us and serving all the young lads that came to the bar 1st !! Just feel if your not a regular your not that welcome , Several Tables full of glasses while staff stood around .

Our first visit and regret wasting time and money on what can only be described as overpriced and tasteless awful food. When we arrived, the pub was busy and very noisy. That should have been a good sign to leave and never go back. Ordered the cheee and onion pie. Big mistake. The pie was mainly potato and didn't taste of cheese at all. The baked beans were a portion small enough for a child. When we commented about the lack of cheese and taste, the staff including the chef were indiffernt, even suggesting we don't order it again. They would be lucky if we ever set foot in the pub again let alone spend money. Avoid as they are plenty of nice eating establishments in the area.

We were there for a pub quiz night. A lot of fun while enjoying a tasty beer.
