Panang in Glasgow City

Service was superb, waitress was very helpful with the menu and could recommend several dishes. The food came quickly and was very tasty! We ordered cocktails from their menu which were great! Atmosphere was good and the venue was lively and clean.

I had always considered Panang to be a favourite safe and tasty go to restaurant for meals with family and friends or takeaway as a coeliac person but after visiting this weekend, I'm afraid to say it's not somewhere I will frequent anymore. At first when seeing the new menu I was excited but then I noticed they had removed the allergen markers completely. When asked what was safe for me to eat on this new menu, I was handed the dreaded "allergen booklet". It feels like having to do homework before your meal which just sucks if I'm honest. It takes all the pleasure out of it - the tick confirming all the things you can't enjoy. The inclusivity of this restaurant was so unlike a lot of others with the old menu clearly catering well to coeliacs, vegans and veggies alike. So going from half the menu being safe for us coeliacs to now only being able to choose from about 4 or 5 items (one of which is a dessert) is disappointing and a huge step back in a world where allergens are so prevalent now. For anyone who isn't cursed with the inability to ingest gluten, it's an amazing and tasty place to eat. My friends really loved their meal! Otherwise, if you want to decipher an allergen booklet that tells you all the things you can't enjoy, maybe wait for the next menu change. 🤞

The best Thai food I’ve ever had. Lovely small plates menu, spoilt for choice! Friendly staff and a great atmosphere

One of the best asian restaurants in Glasgow! We will be coming back a lot! We ordered few dishes, but the Chicken 65 is a must especially with the special fried rice 👌🏻. The chicken curry was great with the jasmine rice 👌🏻 The spring rolls and satay were okay, and finally, the bang bang prawns and it was the best prawn dish in here. Thanks a lot for the great service 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Panang is such a lovely restaurant with beautiful interiors. Staff were friendly and menu had a good selection to choose from. The Thai food that we ordered was delicious and authentic. Loved the tapas concept of small plates!

All halal which is awesome. Great tasting food with decent portion sizes however it was a bit expensive for lunch for 2 people. However would definitely go back to try the pad thai.

We were recommended Panang so while in Glasgow for weekend with friends we booked a table . Our experience is almost all positive service is great staff friendly & knowledgeable the manager a lovely chap 👍 as we were with friends who also hadn’t been before we all ordered different things so we could share the food is beautiful & tasty we had no complaints about anything we ordered cocktails were beautiful 👍 couple of little niggles is one the state of ladies toilets I’ve no seen such a sticky floor like that since some dodgy nightclub back in the 80’s and second is I prefer to tip staff accordingly but as I found out this weekend it now seems it’s all automatically added on to your bill so does it actually go to the staff ? Or greedy companies? But we will eat there again food was fab 👍

We visited in a Monday evening as a couple, it was busy but a great atmosphere, we ordered a starter each followed by mains and a rice to share, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, catering for my coeliac partner, the food was wonderful, very tasty and good portion size.... we' d return for sure!

It was really very very good. Small plates were brilliant. Bringing water to the table without us asking was a cool and should happen everywhere. Beautiful inside, lovely staff and Katsu Bau Buns were so good. Excellent. Highly recommended from me.

Amazing food but hate restraunts adding tip onto your bill

Went with my daughter on Friday night. We were excited when we saw the interior which has lots of coloured paper lanterns and neon light, pretty cool vibe. Cocktails good too. We ordered food and waited. Since we'd ordered shrimp crackers we expected these to come quickly and other tables got them but not us. The waitress was apologetic and offered free drinks but we just wanted to eat. The food eventually came one hour after we sat down and the shrimp crackers came at that point too. I'd say the food was OK - cauliflower popcorn was soggy not crispy as described, sweetcorn fritters relatively tasteless but the veggie spring roll and bao buns were good. I am sure you can find better in Glasgow and maybe this place trades on its location and look rather than quality of food.

Good cocktails good food and service I’d go again. Next time il order something different my noodle dish was a little too spicy for me.

Excellent food and drinks! All flavoursome and cooked well. Slight drawback that some of the tables are quite small - we were a group of 4 and squished in the corner and was quite hard to get in/out, but wasn’t a massive dealbreaker! Would return ☺️

We stopped by here on a whim before heading to Kings Theatre and we're absolutely blown away. Everything we tried clearly had someone who was trying to give you a culinary experience. Plus a gorgeous atmosphere that reminded me of Thailand! Would absolutely recommend.

Beautiful Panang Restaurant, Glasgow did not let us down on our umpteenth visit. We spent a very pleasant birthday celebration here, and as always loved the delicious food, the warm welcome and the special feature of multiple colourful ceiling lanterns.

I eat a lot of Thai food and this is one of the most abysmal Thai foods I've ever had. The mango sticky rice was an obscenely small portion. The staff told me the chefs would visit Thailand sometimes but like are they visiting red light districts or restaurants? Can't tell. I guess it's ok if you don't know what Thai food is, I don't trust ratings in UK because I don't think Brits know what food is.

The food was delicious. I would recommend the beef masaman curry and the sweet and sour chicken. The waiters were really nice and attentive. It was one of our nicest meals in Glasgow.

We bought a Thai feast on itison. They asked for the voucher before we'd even sat down, experience didn't improve much after that. We were stuck beside a table of drunk women, who had a table full of glasses. We had frozen cocktails included but they served them in really small glasses so some of it ended up on the floor & the table before it was actually served. The sweet & sticky ribs were dry & overly spicy, the sunshine beef was similar, it had definitely lost its shine. Pretty much everything had chilli seeds sprinkled on it or a side of sweet chilli sauce, surely you have other sauces to give some variety. Surprisingly the sweet chilli chicken was lovely. As was the crab & prawn spring rolls & the pad Thai. Luckily, they put the chilli flakes on the side so we could enjoy that without them. There are much better Thai restaurants in Glasgow so I wouldn't recommend it.

Very exciting to eat Thai tapas. We love sharing food and trying it everywhere. We really liked that. Everything tasted very good and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere is really lovingly designed.

Terrible meal - lowlights being the sticky rice, obliterated rice in an amorphous mass, the pork with a poached egg - the egg was actually the best thing we had and the pad Thai which I'm actually struggling to describe. We went here as we had a voucher which my wife had received for her birthday, so disappointing, 60 quid plus on rubbish food.

Good lunch time menu. For a quick, casual bite. Love Thai food, concept of the small plates was good to try different things. Thought the food was ok, would give it another go and try different things.

UPDATE: I have called and asked both the restaurant and deliveroo for some sort of refund or voucher and both have refused so be warned!! I specifically called ahead to let them know I had a nut allergy to make sure that was OK before placing my order. They said I had to place my order first then call back with my order number. I did this and no one answered for 10 mins. By the time someone answered my food was already on its way (both dishes with nuts in it). They refused to refund me knowing full well that I had informed them of my allergy before placing my order (as it tells you to do on the site) and spent £20 on food I couldn't eat. Terrible customer service and would not recommend them. The least they could have done is offer a replacement or voucher but they didn't. They just said sorry they were really busy and I had to see it from their side. Fair enough but a voucher or replacement offer would have been the right way to handle it.

The staff is friendly, the food is not bad, but the Pad Thai chicken was too sweet, the spring rolls were not fresh. We also were in doubt if the cooking oil gets to be refreshed on time. The beer was expensive. We wondered how the kitchen would look like. The chairs were hard and the music too loud. One wonders if people still talk to each other. All in all, there was no good cost/quality ratio. We would not advise it to friends or family.

I've been to Panang a few times and really enjoyed it, so I expected to be giving the food a 5-star review. Have actually meant to review for a while. But restraunts are only as good as the last visit, and my last visit wasn't as good as usual. The massaman curry had what looked like a large piece of bark in it, as well as a couple of star anise seeds to pick out, I'm assuming the wood type thing was some sort of flavour enhancer for the whole curry pot...I'd hope, but it still makes me feel a bit green thinking about it, in case it wasn't. It also meant my plate actually only had two pieces of meat and no potato, and it made me pick at the dish rather than just enjoy it. I didn't complain, I couldn't be bothered, but I did put these things onto a side plate, and nothing was said or noticed by the waitress when the plates were collected. Which means I'd have to take points off for service too. If I had written this review prior to this last visit, I'd have said great wee lunch spot, good value for money. I'm not so sure I'd be so quick to go back after this last visit.

Best food quality & experience I've had in a long time!

Beautiful restaurant, the decorations and arrangements caught our attention from the other side of the road, staff is very nice and professional, although the food could have been better since is a bit expensive, but is nice. If you're looking for a Beautiful place this is a good choice, butbif you fancy real Thai food you may want to look somewhere else.

The most uninterested and bored of life host ever, sour faced and unresponsive. Food mediocre at the very best, reheated and unauthentic. Just meh at the very best.

Very tasty food, nice decor and great central Glasgow location. Lamb special curry was lovely as was the bbq spare ribs, many dishes were all very good.

real let down in terms of food. ordered the monkfish and prawn curry (had about 4 times before and loved it) but it was tasteless this time. prawns tasted as if they had just been thrown in and cold eww. the jasmine rice was over cooked and tasteless. they add a service charge in at the end god knows why as I had to go up and ask to pay. would love to be refunded for this as it’s left a bad taste in my mouth. used to love here and y it to everyone. not anymore

I really like the tapas twist on the Thai dishes, currys and corn cakes have enough authentic Thai holy basil giving it the genuine taste of Thailand, couldn't fault any of the dishes, if you're really hungry would recommend 3-4 dishes (including a rice) per person, service was nice enough but nothing over the top, would definitely recommend to anyone in the mood for Thai food 🇹🇭👌🏼

I was up in Glasgow at the Easter bank holiday and popped into this restaurant on a whim. I'm not a great fan of Thai food but I was won over by the offerings served by this restaurant. It was tasty and delicious. I like Tapas style meals of several small dishes and this restaurants offers this with a selection of small dishes that can be ordered. One word of caution though, ordering this way is very expensive. I had got a number of these small dishes with my visit and justified the cost as a one-off but the next time I will go here, I would be ordering from the lunch menu which offers a number of small dishes which is a set price. There was a party sitting next to me and it looked like they had ordered from the lunch menu. Overall, they looked good, generous and value for money. As the restaurant itself, there was a definite ambience and atmosphere to it with a large neon sign on one of walls and hanging lanterns all over restaurant area which give it a real laid back, Asian feel. I intend to visit this restaurant again and would recommend it.

Absolutely incredible- best Thai food I have had in 14 years!!

Overall, the visit to the restaurant was wonderful. The staff is nice and very accommodating, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. Unfortunately the vegetarian curry wasn't very tasty and the prices are a bit higher. Nevertheless, I would come here again.

Really cute, beautiful place. Unfortunately poor quality food and service. Noodles were extremely chewy and salty and 2 of 3 chicken wings were pink and not fully cooked. Could have told them if someone had visited the table during the meal, even just to check in or fill up the empty water container. Soup and curry were both delicious.

A lovely Thai restaurant with loads of atmosphere. We hadn't booked, but they did their utmost to accommodate us . The food was delicious 😋

Ordered a fried chicken with sauces and Tom yam shrimp noodle. 1) sauces was on the top of chicken. Need to use utensils for Fried chicken. lol. Tried to eat by hands. It was insanely hard. Chicken legs had so much hair which was very disgusting. 2) no shrimp in a soup. Just 5 to 6 thin noodles were in a soup. Very salty, and couldn’t finish. I go to Thai every year for 3 months. Their foods aren’t really Thai.

Dining for two we had two bowls of coconut rice (the coconut wasn’t really kicking) I had pad cra poa (minced chiken with basil and soya sauce plus a runny poached egg) and kung yun (grilled king prawns on skewers, my friend and I were saying they look like shrimps 😂). My friend had beef on skiwear and red chilly curry with chicken. I would say that was the best meal on the table. They have variety of drinks to choose from. The service was great and the atmosphere, cozy. Every meal comes like tapas and they will make sure you know and they ask about any food restrictions and allergies which I thought was great.

First visit here for a quick lunch. Food was decent - I had the red curry, corn fritters, and jasmine rice - and a reasonable portion for lunch. The curry was flavourful and fragrant - pretty standard for a red curry. Would definitely recommend the corn fritters.

Excellent food, excellent service

We visited after shopping on a Saturday early evening and happy bonus, they had a January promo on. Even earlier on in the evening it had a great atmosphere - would suggest booking ahead. Food was fairly priced with large portions that tasted authentic, certainly more than any other Thai place we've visited. Not long back from Thailand so this was a nice spot to start thinking about our next trip :). We particularly enjoyed the sunshine beef, Chang Mai sausage skewers and som tam salad.

I was on a business trip and was spoilt for choice in terms of food offerings, however most of it seemed to be repetitive, “the same as each other”. But then I stumbled across this place and was intrigued by the menu offering. When I arrived at the restaurant I was really pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere instantly gives off a brilliantly bright yet dim vibe; the mix and use of neon lights and dark areas is executed perfectly. Service was friendly and fairly quick, but needed to get their attention at times. The food was vibrant, each and every dish was packed with flavour, and wasn’t too oily as sometimes this is the case with Asian/Oriental food. Dessert menu could’ve been much better so needs improving in my opinion. I went for the Fried Apple Gyozas with ice cream. The gyozas tasted a little too dry (?) and didn’t hold much flavour in my opinion but the coconut ice cream that accompanied it was incredible. Highly recommended and I will definitely visit again when in Glasgow.

Veggie options are poor. Most lack any kind of flavour. They seem to rely on you drowning everyone in sweet chilli sauce. Won’t be back.

Fricking excellent... I've not even had the bill yet but I really enjoyed my meal so writing the review before I leave.

Compared to the quality and taste of food in 2023, recent visit in 2024 gave me the feeling of average Thai food. Wasn't very impressed. But service and ambience is nice

Brilliant meal eaten after shopping. Stopped by, and they were able to give us a table without booking for an hour. Such great food and friendly efficient service. Definitely be back another day. Mango sticky rice is a delight! 😋

Decorated beautifully, food was great especially the Panang lamb curry. Definitely recommend. (Bit silly having the prices written with Thai Bhat currency sign because if you truly converted it to GBP, you'd be paying hardly anything).

I am from Canada and have traveled to a good number of countries and had some good Thai food but my goodness, this was DELISH. Service was excellent and the decor and atmosphere just draws you in. For reference, we had the pad Thai, sweet Chili chicken, spring rolls and chicken satay. We had to order the pad Thai twice. This is reason enough for me to want to come back to the UK.

Sadly have had to revisit my review. Was looking forward to having the short ribs on my last visit and was served spare ribs instead. Don't know if it was intentional, maybe thinking that I wouldn't know the difference. Serve what is advertised guys. And if there's a change then tell your customers.

I walked in for Thai food. Guy wearing a blue shirt wasn’t pleasant to even day hello. I sat down and I ordered my drink and side dish with the waitress which was quite nice. Before it arrives to my table Ive asked kindly to the maybe manager if was ok to change my table as the lights where I was sitting were to bright and he said “nothing I can do” in a very rude way and walk away so did I. Awful manager and not polite at all.

The food wasn't bad but maybe a little underwhelming. Any beef dish was so much better than any chicken one. The vibes are great and the cocktails are too. I can't recommend the "mama Bangkok" enough it's delicious. Staff were also very nice. The food sadly let everything else down

A great place for food and a brilliant atmosphere. Four of us had a selection of dishes on our first time at Panang. The selection of food was huge and great friendly atmosphere. Quick service and decent price. Will be back!

We were there for team dinner and ordered some 10 small plates. Overall Food Was good, all small plates an we liked it Since we got to enjoy all of the thai Food. But Sunshine beef was wayyyy tooooo Salty. Service was really friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is great as well.
