Palmyra in Reading

Visited with friends few months back and didnt like it all. Meat half cooked, rubbery. Ambience and vibe wasn't great. Won't visit again, but may be will try some other Lebanese restaurants around Reading.

Nice food. But few recommendations below. Mantu 10/10 - the best Mantu I have had at any restaurant Chapli kebab 8/10 - Charsi karahi 4/10 - was lovely but needed tomatoes, maybe they make it different to other Afghan restaurants Spinach - 9/10 probably the best spinach curry I have had. Kabuli Pilou with lamb shank - 7/10 Everything would of been better if only they had the green chutney that most Afghan places serve.

I had a pleasant atmosphere, but the food was just average. I tried several Middle Eastern dishes, and unfortunately, they didn't exceed my expectations. The customer service was disappointing, to say the least. I paid £17 for a meal with rice and asked for a takeaway container for the leftover food, but my request was ignored, and I was given a single container to take myself. Never recommended here. You should care about your customers. Thank you.

Excellent grilled sea bass💫 sheep meat burger was very tasty. So were the dips and salad.

Overall it's okay restaurant, we tried shawarma, chicken wings and full chicken with naan. Everything is good smokey coal roasted but it's dry to eat. There is no juice inside or any gravy given separately to compensate. I have not tried rice or red meat.

The service was terrible and slow. We waited 30 minutes for the food to arrive and they didn't follow the customer order, they gave food before to the customers who came after us. When our food arrived it was cold and the staff was sullen .I wish I could give no stars, but unfortunately I have to give 1 star.

Amazing food, flavour was outstanding and the prices and customer service was top notch! Highly recommend, will be returning for more! We had: -Chicken shawarma wrap -Mixed grill and rice -Chips -Naan and chicken kri -Afghan tea and firni

Nice Afghani food. The portion size is good value for money. We tried Chapali Kabab, Kabuli rice and Lamb Karahi. Give it a try at least once. Recommended.

We were a bit disappointed with our second visit to Afghan Flavours. We waited an hour for our drinks, but they never arrived. Each time we inquired, we were told that our drinks were on their way. After an hour with no drinks in sight, we eventually asked for our bill. When we did, they still asked if we wanted our drinks. Of course, we declined, explaining that it was pointless at that point. They apologised for the inconvenience, but they should have just been honest about the fact that our drinks would never be delivered.

Food was really good and reasonably priced. I took the service down to 4 stars as the lady SLAMMED our drinks onto the table but I wouldn’t let this deter me from coming back. The young guy who served us 90% of the time was really nice and attentive. The chicken karahi with garlic naan was great! And really generous portions.

Food was amazing and well seasoned . The flavours were absolutely exquisite . The salad is free for you to eat while waiting and was just the perfect balance of vegetables. In my personal experience the food wait time was short compares to other restaurants that i have been to and I’ll definitely come back to try more !

Really yummy food, very good experience with my friends everybody loved it they gave us tea and firni on the house. Highly recommended.

Bbq Platter and karahi is best in the reading. Prices are good and affordable. Food served quickly and staff was very friendly. Good atmosphere for family and friends. Highly recommended!!!

I love the atmosphere and service, but the food order is not okay. It has no salt or spice, and it doesn't feel like Afghan pulao rice.

Real authentic halal Afghan food, the Kabuki pilau with the lamb shank is delicious! The mixed grill 4 was also fresh, tasty and a generous portion. We took what we couldn't finish and had it for lunch the next day so it was great value for money. Food was top notch but interior could do with some updating.

Food was absolutely great, tasted authentic and full of flavour. Unfortunately the service was well below standard. despite numerous errors on my order the waitress refused to apologise or even acknowledge the shortcomings using the excuse of being "busy"; whether this was ignorance or arrogance it is enough to prevent me from visiting the establishment again, despite the good food.

It was my first visit to Afgan Flavours, and it was an incredible experience. I ordered the Chapli Kebab and Lamb Charsi Karahi with Garlic Naan, and I was blown away by how delicious everything was. The real star of the meal was the Lamb Charsi Karahi. It was so soft and succulent, with a depth of flavor that made every bite amazing. Apart from the food, the guy at the counter was super helpful and had a friendly smile. I'll surely be back soon to try more dishes from their menu.

So delicious...mutton...so delicious🥹🥹🥹Black pepper and chili flavored lamb (Lamb Charsi Karahi) and Garilc Naan are a perfect match together, and Lamb Kofta is also very delicious! But we two girls couldn’t eat it so we took it away hahaha. Very affordable and very delicious! ! !

First time visiting this restaurant and I was really impressed with the food, the service and even the portion sizes. The kabuli pilaw is a must try and it comes with a complimentary daal dish. I will definitely be coming here again.

My very first time here as I looked forward to having a Lebanese meal, so a bit disappointed to learn they'd only just recently changed the menu after I'd been seated. Anyways, decided to still try some Afghani food. Inspite of telling the waitress who served me to talk me through what's on the menu and to suggest something nice and flavoursome for a first time customer, I ended up having to pick something myself which was disappointing when it arrived as the chana dal didn't go well with the qabuli pulao rice which I'd ordered. And the fact they don't serve bread with or a bread basket whilst waiting for your main meal to arrive was puzzling to say the least. Also, no one checked in on you whilst there, if you'd like anything else or otherwise. As it was an Easter treat for me, I left quite 'very' disappointed! And there were only '4', all of 'FOUR' lamb cubes or pieces in the pilau dish brought to me. Surely there could've been a more generous serving of meat in the dish. The only reason I gave it '3' * is b'cos of the pleasant and friendly manner of the guy who came up later to help with the bread foil pack and who took my bill. If they are more attentive to their customers, especially first-time customers like me, I think they'll do well as the flavour is there tho' I didn't particularly like the lentil side dish brought to me but the pilau tasted nice. If someone had talked me thru the menu and had suggested a better option to sample Afghani food, it being my first time, I think I'd have left wanting to return. Not so this time tho', unfortunately.

The food seems good etc but it was very dry which is a shame. This place has potential but its way too bright in there . They could make more money etc if they made it into a proper restaurant because then couples would eat there romantically and so on and more families but seems more like a takeaway when you walk in which is off-putting to me (European / English etc )

I had chicken shawarma with rice and I must appreciate the taste of food, it was really good, and it was a huge portion of food as well.

Cheap and cheerful Lebanese cafe - it’s not fine dining but the food is fresh and the flavours all intense, well seasoned and cooked with care. While some elements of the menu might look pricey on paper, the portion size means that these dishes are easily shared. Bread basket is generously filled. We paid £23 for dinner - a lamb kebab with chips and salad, a side of aubergine and chickpea stew, tabbouleh, bread, and soft drinks and it was far too much food really!

Good stuff. Good enviroment. Good services. Grill was tasty. Good size portion. Location was ok. Parking you have to find.

I came here tonight after my work party, as I didn’t feel safe waiting on the road waiting for my lift, the staff were amazing. They let me come in, and stay for as long as I needed until my lift came. They said my safety was a priority and I can stay till the cleaner comes if needed ! Thank you so much for keeping me safe. You are all so kind and caring people ❤️

First time visiting here for lunch. Enjoyed a fabulous lamb kofta with salad, chips and bread. Hubby enjoyed lamb kofta and chicken skewer. A very large portion of food which was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and succulent and had been well seasoned. I especially liked the garlic yoghurt sauce, although it is more of a thick dip than a sauce. It had beautiful rich thick yoghurt with a very generous infusion of fresh garlic. Delicious. The chilli sauce had a nice heat and piquancy. This is a fabulous Lebanese café and I'll definitely be back.

They only cater for their own people.

Ordered via Uber eats, driver turned up, wrong order, no receipt on bag! Wouldn’t help as given wrong order! Phoned restaurant 3 times, said they’d send correct order out! Hour and half after order restaurant said nothing we can do GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE I think not!

I had the grilled king prawns served with vermicelli rice and calamari was good and we thoroughly enjoyed it as well as the cold mix meze. but The chicken liver was let us down. Was tasteless. Didn’t like it at all.

Best restaurant in town! Their service is exceptional and the lady at reception was really nice and welcoming. Their food was amazing and the dishes were great!

Went for meze at lunchtime and was very impressed. Service was prompt and friendly and food excellent. Kibbeh not overcooked, as it often is, moutabal very rich in aubergine and enough bread that I did not need to use the knife and fork. All for a very reasonable price. I will be going there again!! Soon!

Welcoming staff and hard working in everything they do. Calm and amazing atmosphere for everyone. Great food at a great price would recommend if you want something new and exciting. My only flaw is that cash only thats a bummer.

The shop was untidy when we walked in a few weeks ago. But we gave it ago. Staff were friendly and helpful. It looked like they had a busy day. The food was great. Nice size fresh and tasty. Glad we stayed. Will definitely go back when in town.

If you're looking for super cheap but delicious authentic middle eastern cuisine then look no further. What a gem of a find, just at the edge of town. Lots of delicious veggie options too. Amazing service and very speedy too. Just remember to pay with cash as they don't accept card payment.

The place is good but needs more attention

We were recommended Palmyra and were looking forward to the visit and ordered two lamb wraps. One had hardly any vegetables in it, the other's meat was either underdone or of the lambs grandfather, it was impossible to chew and had some cartilage in it. Servicewise, the ATM doesn't work as a sign informed me, and if I wouldn't have noticed, I would have been billed for a different order, that was completely different and about 10% more expensive. I wouldn't have bothered to write the review but the existing reviews differ from our experience wildly.

A good restaurant that serves bide food. The staff are also very friendly and cater to all your needs in a good manner. Its one of the good Lebanese restaurants in Reading. Good service. Nice staff

Date night with hubby. Authentic Lebanese cuisine, hubby had mixed grill served with rice with vermicelli & salad. I had mixed chicken & lamb shawarma. Food was prepared quickly which is excellent. Both dishes tasted just right! Impressed with generous portion & price. We were served by Abdul Mosawir, he was polite & genuine, he added complementary bread. I definitely recommend!

Never experience such an awful service before, took over an hour for the food to arrive and when it did it was cold,please refund my money and I will not be using this resturant ever again.uber should remove this resturant from their list.

Awesome, delicious Felafel wrap - best I've had in a while and good value. I'll be back again - do yourself a favour and grab some proper food from here instead of nasty fast food. Fully recommended.

I order falafel wrap, they made me wait 45 min for it. While i was waiting two of the workers were stearing at me speaking Arabic with repeating the place where i work. Thats how I realised they were talking about me. Its just really inappropriate. If you are a girl think twice before entering this restaurant.

Don’t accept card payments. Staff very rude (both the person by the gyros and the lady at the cash register). I felt like being scolded. No wonder there was only two customers while other shops were like bee hives.

Well that was damn tasty! Cash only though. No alcohol.

I went in to eat with my partner as someone who has never tried lebanese food, and I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes and quality of food (especially the small wrap). There was some miscommunication for the order of my main and the chef came out himself to solve the issue! Definitely recommend take dessert to go if you're full.
