Sadly I have to leave a negative review for this cafe. My coffee and scone were both fine but the service I experienced was the worst I have encountered. I had previously experienced rudeness from a waitress there but put it down to a bad day for her but on this return visit the same waitress was again deliberately rude. It seemed an inconvenience to take my order and when waiting to pay she barged past me knocking me sideways without asking to be excused or making any apology. I paid another waitress but on leaving I apologised that I had got in her way but would have been happy to move if she had asked. She simply turned her back on me and walked away. It left me feeling quite distressed that she seemed to have gone out of her way to be rude. This cafe needs to create a better culture for those employed there so it is more welcoming. My recommendation is to go to May’s across the road instead!

Palmerston's sets a high standard which other cafes would do well to attain. We had lunch and had freshly prepared open sandwiches. What made them special was that they were served with a proper salad and not just a token lettuce leaf and half a tomato. The bread was good granary. Why can't other cafes (and restaurants) up their game when it comes to bread? So often you are served up standard supermarket fare which is underwhelming. Everything about the cafe is great; the food, the home baking (home made jam with your scone - bliss!), the staff who are all welcoming and the service which is spot on. We'll be back the next time we are in Dunkeld.

Popped in for a takeaway hot chocolate. Great service, but what really made this was the quality of the drink. Not powdered rubbish! Lovely chocolate chips, melted into milk to make a delicious ‘proper’ hot chocolate. Thank you!

Called in for lunch after completing a walk in the nearby countryside and couldn’t have hoped for more delicious food. Everything was homemade and prepared fresh to order. Staff were very up on their allergen information which is a huge relief when you have a nut allergy - the lady that served us quickly checked on the hummus ingredients and was able to point about other potential allergens such as sesame seeds. Will definitely be back next time we visit Perthshire.

Called in for tea and scones, only to encounter one staff member, taking our order, with a couldn’t care less attitude and, frankly, needs to appreciate that the money of non-residents of Dunkeld is just as good as anyone else’s. The scones were super-fresh and delicious but the bill for a couple of hot drinks and scones came to over £14, which does seem like someone is having a laugh. Even House of Bruar up the road charges a more reasonable sub-£10 for the same food and drink.

Amazing eatery. I would say cafe doesn’t do the place justice as you are greeted by an array of home baking and delicious sandwiches which would put a artisanal Edinburgh/Glasgow bakery to shame. Staff a lovely and a big shout out to ‘’Wee’ Carole who took care of us during our visit. Recommendations were on point and giving us a brief history of the eatery and the lovely town of Dunkeld. Almost everything is freshly made on site at Palmerstons and it shows. I had the Carrot Cake (the cake all cafes and coffee shops should be judged by! 😉) and I have to say it’s the best one I have had in years. Dense and moist with just the right amount of homemade frosting. My fiancée had a scone. One of about 5 varieties on offer. 😮 A truly lovely Sunday experience. Well worth a stop after/or before a days walking. Will be back!!!

No matter how nice the food is-if a member of staff is rude it spoils the experience. I have travelled with my husband from John o'Groats and we have had nothing but excellent scottish hospitality until today. When asking for a table the woman in question (placed as the meet and greet) barked loudly that I should sanitise my hands. As a respectable law abiding customer I was completely ready to sanitise my hands. I feel this member of staff is letting down what is a lovely cafe and, instead of being given what is I am sure a very responsible role of covid police, she would be better employed in the kitchen washing the dishes. The rest of the staff were lovely.

So glad to visit Palmerston’s after lockdown. This lovely cafe has extended into the shop next door, so it’s more spacious and easier to socially distance. Extension includes an extra toilet, too. All well organised with one way system; hand sanitiser on every table and masks to be worn when you stand/move around. As usual, the scones were beautiful: spiced pear or blueberry yesterday, with their delicious homemade jam. There are cheaper coffees and scones, but it’s worth paying for the quality of product here. We bought jams to take away too - so delicious. The lady that served us was efficient and friendly. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Nice coffee shop atmosphere, good cakes and scones, coffee good too. The table we had was okay, but some are a little close for comfort I would say. They are trying their best and it was really good to see that even this small business was taking part in eat out to help out, a nice thing to be doing for their customers. On COVID, all the staff were wearing masks which is good. Plenty of hand sanitiser about the place and contact details were taken. Unfortunately, there is room for improvement, we had to remind the waitress and ask her to clean our table before we sat down after the previous customer as this had not been done. There is also a woman behind the counter that is shouting customers in and asking about group sizes, perhaps shouting across the cafe isn't the best idea in relation to COVID. So a couple of considerations there to be improved upon, but overall doing well.

Tripadvisor led me to the door of Palmerston's. At 10am the cafe was empty and I may have been the first customer; no problem. The two staff members appeared to be preparing food behind the counter. A far-from-warm instruction (or possibly a Dunkeld welcome) was uttered by one - a middle-aged dyed-blonde woman with a face like a slapped ar*e - "Sit down, we'll come to you!" Yes, and a good morning to you madam. I found a table and sat down. Having waited two or three minutes, with no approach from the staff, I went up to the counter to see the baked goods and was once again admonished, "Sit down, we'll come to you!". Suffice to say, an objective view of the ambience and quality of the cafe was overshadowed by the shocking demeanour of the staff. I'm amazed to read other reviews citing warm and welcoming. Ah well, maybe it was my face...

Un bel endroit plein de spécialités du cru ou d'ailleurs (Camemberts français authentiques!) et de produits fait maison.

Popped into Palmerston’s for a bite of lunch after walking up The Hermitage. I had an open tuna sandwich, and my partner had a Gluten Free option which came with GF oatcakes instead of bread. Both plates had a good sized nicely dressed fresh salad. To finish we had the Gluten Free coconut cherry and chocolate slice, and a chocolate cookie. The food was fantastic, the staff were pleasant and efficient, and the coffee was strong. Would definitely recommend.

We went there to have some lunch as we were in the surroundings. We asked for some sandwiches, but we didn't receive a sandwich. It was all separated, you needed to prepare it yourself and it was cold. The ingredients were totally normal, nothing with quality. The price was super excessive for that. We paid there so much to get just some basic sandwiches and some coffes. The attention was a bit unsympathetic. Wouldn't go back in any case and don't recommend it at all.

So impressed by the excellent service in this café! The waitresses were not just friendly and helpful but with each customer they carefully answered queries, cheerfully accommodated individual preferences and even advised on walking routes and bus times! Tasty freshly baked scones and good coffee! Enjoyable visit!

Stopped for a cup,of tea and a cake. Quickly told to sit anywhere as the cafe was not busy. A bubbly waitress took our order of a pot of tea and a Mango Tango flavoured tea, a cake and a scone. Drinks arrived but the milk for the tea had turned. It was quickly replaced along with a second pot of tea free of charge. (Never going to be able to drink all that tea) The Mango Tango tea was fabulous. We had to go and ask if we could have our cakes as they had forgotten. The cakes were very very nice. So apart from the dodgy milk and memory, it was very nice.

Location is great Environment is great Food is good Overall would come again! I got the BBQ panini. It’s a sweet sauce on pulled pork, with crisps and a side salad. I also got the apple toffee muffin and OH MY GOODNESS. It was so good! Must have molasses or treacle in it but was yummy

Fantastic place with wonderful service. I went there on a cold November day and ordered the most delicious caramel apple crumble to take away and they threw in some custard in a separate container. Lovely staff and a lovely shop.

Just opened last Thursday so small teething problems but I'm sure it will be a great little bar as the staff were very attentive. The upstairs lounge looks great btw. Will visit again when back down.

Two waitresses, one young and cheerful one not so. Similarly my wife's Apple Pie light, moist and tasty, my Almond slice not so. Tea served in coffee cups, toilet facilities a bit primitive, and not cheap.
