Excellent stay. Bit disappointed in the Attic Room initially but spoke to the staff and they immediately changed our room. It was relaxing, friendly, staff were attentive and accommodating. Would highly recommend

We had a brilliant stay. Fantastic value for money for stay and breakfast. We are our evening meal in the restaurant too and as always it was great. We visit Pitlochry a few times a year and always eat here but this is the first time we have stayed in the hotel. We will definitely be back and have already recommended x

Incredible hotel, very clean and very well maintained. The rooms facing the main street are beautiful and very cozy. The truth is that it is one of the most charming hotels I have ever been to.

I've eaten in the restaurant a few times but this was my first stay. Staff very friendly, room was cosy, beautifully decorated, clean and had lovely views. The food and cocktails were great! Will certainly recommend to friends and family.

We have just had a delightful stay at Mckays Hotel Pitlochry. We received a very friendly welcome and all staff were friendly and very helpful. We booked the suite which was beautifull very warm and cozy. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from. We had dinner the three nights we stayed which was also good. First class service. The 2 boys and the young lady who worked the bar were very friendly and chatty. Also the lady who was on duty morning and night Mon,Tues,Wed was very helpful in directing us to different places. I can throughly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back. Thankyou all at McKays Hotel.

Staff not so friendly, almost like it was imposition for us to check in and be there. Very odd. We loved the location and the food was good.

We got the winter warmer deal, the price was great. The hotel & room were spotless, the staff were professional, attentive & approachable. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Honestly can't fault McKays in Pitlochry. We booked in for the 2024 Hogmanay break with gala meal & it exceeded all our expectations. The Pitlochry New Year's street party is not to be missed, the atmosphere was amazing. The location of the hotel is perfect, as was the room, food & service. We were that impressed we booked for next year's celebrations before leaving. I think that proves how impressed we were . Highly recommend!!!

Lovely hotel and very welcoming. Room was nice and bed was excellent. Staff were helpful and would always try thier best to make sure you got exactly what you needed. Would I stay again. Yes I have already booked up.

10/10. Food was amazing and can safely say the battered fish was the best I’ve ever had. Nothing left on mine or my partners plate by the end. The staff also went out their way to ensure my partners allergies were catered for. Brilliant all round

Superb stay ... first time I have stayed there , lovely room, spotlessly clean. Great breakfast . Dinner was great and staff were wonderful during these testing times . Food was superb and very well presented . Hope to stay there again soon

I often stay in Pitlochry for various events - chose McKays this time as it's location is ideal (being right in the heart of the town). Friendly staff, warm welcome in bar for drinks and tasty dinner, nice room, entertainment and a lovely breakfast. Definitely return.

Card only !!!!!!! A joke , food is ok no brilliant, staff are lovely , place is nice but after spending 100 quid on food and drinks they then embarrassed me.after it telling me it's card only and they won't accept my cash !! Fkn mortified as didn't cone out with any cards and only had cash with me,,, won't be back !!!

Christmas dinner was wow,came here for dinner with all colleagues and everything was so perfect,food was awesome and service was outstanding ❤️❤️ ❤️. Thank you so much guys for lot of wonderful memories 🫶

I am just rating the bar, it is cozy, good price value in my view. Delicious food... what else is there to say. Good place to go to, especially when just hopping by with a tour.

McKays is actually 2 restaurants - one side a seafood fast casual joint and the other a sit down, more upscale vibe. We opted for the seafood side based on menu and price and were not disappointed. Their fish and chips is not only super fresh but generously sized. Even the non-seafood items were delicious. I ordered the steak pie + mac and cheese and it was comfort food to the max! The steak pie (aka beef stew) was super flavorful and filling. The mac and cheese was better than most and did not disappoint. A heads up on bathroom - the seafood side doesn't offer toilets but you can go next door to the other McKays and they'll let you use theirs. Small technicality but then you get to see both sides of McKays and the 2 different restaurants.

Food delicious, lots of choice, staff very friendly, large selection of drinks. Solo Singer for entertainment, very good but far too loud, unable to speak!

Had a 2 night stay at the end of November - there were 4 of us staying the 2 nights and we loved everything about the hotel, food and service. First night we attended the Abba Tribute night in the hotelwhich was just great -hope to go back next year.

Mckays Hotel is a lovely stay to discover Pitlochry. Lovely warm cosy rooms with all the luxuries ie toiletries, tea, coffee and shortbread. Staff are really helpful and polite. Highly recommend a stay here

Just had dinner here. The service was excellent and the meal was delicious and very filling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Nice friendly hotel with very nice staff, good food and a lively atmosphere. The room, breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea were all excellent. We booked the gin experience weekend with them and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was well organised and we were very well looked after. I would definitely return.

We stayed in the adjacent "Atholl cottage" offered by the hotel. At best I'd rate the stay "okay" but only if you're not there in any cold temperatures. It was a cold week but it's not really much of an excuse when the main restaurant and lodge seemed to be heated fine. We were there with my husband and my grandparents and it was so cold in the cottage they couldn't sleep. The only room with any decent heat is the smaller bedroom and the bathroom. The living space was absolutely frozen. We sat in our winter jackets and hats despite the heating being on. The curtains at the front window cover the radiator, so your options are to let all the heat escape the radiator through the window or have your entire living space on display on one of the main roads of pitlochry. It's also to be noted the road was quite noisy throughout the night and morning, all sound comes through to the bedrooms. The carpets throughout are clearly very old, stained, and had a somewhat "sticky" feeling that you get with old carpet. Bathroom was fine, nothing to write home about. Noted that the shampoo despenser wasn't working. The kitchen had some basic supplies but no tea towels or oven glove and no baking trays of any kind for the oven. For a "self-catering cottage" it should have a few more things. There was also only 3 regular coffee sachets provided, the rest were decaf. The overall main detractor here is the heating situation in winter. It was so incredibly cold. I went to the reception to ask for any sorts of blankets and the woman working was incredulous when I said the cottage was cold (despite it being -°2 outside). She eventually went to get one additional king duvet which was appreciated but for a group of 4 not quite sufficient for all of us. It was not a pleasant start to the interaction and I was irritated at the state of the situation at that point so I decided to cut my losses and take the duvet and just deal with it for one night. If we were staying more than one night we would have moved to another hotel because it was truly unbearable for my grandparents. There is a glass backdoor with virtually no insulation - likely a major cause of the cold temperature. Overall there were a few minor things I could've let go, but I could in no way recommend this cottage to someone in its current state. The only benefit I will attribute is the central location, and the cottage comes with its own parking space (although this isn't informed upon booking). Towels and pillows were fine enough. I really recommend McKays take the comfort of guests more seriously and make some updates to the cottage if they intend to keep letting this out. It has a lot of wasted potential in its current state.

This was our second stay at McKays hotel we stayed in a superior room which was lovely. We also made use of half price cocktail time and we had our evening meal in restaurant food is really good. The staff were lovely and work really hard a special mention to Logan who made sure we always had a drink. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel

Was I a nice hotel , beds comfortable, rooms could be quite a long maze of corridors if elderly or carrying bags. The restaurant was full all night, so I felt like we were rushed . The food was not the best but this could just be because we felt rushed. I personally would not use the restaurant again.

We spent the night at this lovely hotel. Beautiful room with ensuite, very welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent. Will definitely return.

It's a nice pub, but the food prices are really too high for what they offer. It's more expensive than the same standard of pub in London.

Lovely cosy room , lovely big bed , but did request 2 single , great entertainment, didn’t stay for food as we visited the enchanted Forrest, but the restaurant was really busy for steak night , breakfast we didn’t enjoy , sausages were really pale potato scones overdone coffee and tea luke warm .didn’t complain tho as the girl who served us was in a mood . Overall would go back .rest of the staff were lovely

Disappointed that we had to leave a lovely bar /restaurant because of all the dogs in the place. My wife is unfortunately highly allergic to dogs and we counted 14 in at the point that we had to leave. Why can't people come for a drink or a meal without their pets? We went to the old mill instead and had a lovely time.

Booked dinner for 2 at McKays. It’s a combo bar , sports bar and Resturaunt with a fish and chips shop ( with tables and chairs) attached next door. Very busy but got a table by the window in the restaurant. Very nice. Football on the numerous tvs but no sound, so ok if you’re not into it. Good service , good choice on the menu , mostly Scottish fare and good quality. Also big choice of beer and wine if a bit expensive but average for Pitlochry.

Full marks to staff for the cleanliness of rooms, excellent bathroom facilities, plenty of staff on hand for their attentiveness to serve with a courteous manner, we had a Sunday package which was excellent value, Sunday roast, and morning breakfast.

Came in here at 11.25 today. Waiter came to serve us at 11.31 and told us breakfast finished at 11.30. Wouldn't take order. Disgusting!

Noisy room! A pump(?) runs half the night at least until 11:30 p.m. and from 5 a.m.! constantly in between occasionally. Room otherwise ok, bed good, shower temperature constantly fluctuating. No room service.

Terrible disgusting fish at this place. Supposed to be haddock fish. Absolutely not haddock. Grey flesh definitely not haddock. AVOID

Basic customer service and hygeine is sorely missing here. These pretenders are heavily reliant on their product to draw people and clearly they have an issue with basic manners, politeness, and especially with hygeine. The tables, salt shaker/ condiment bottles on the tables, the floor, windows and door handles are all sorely needing basic cleaning. The salt shaker on ALL tables, but especially on ours, was thick with built up dirt. If this is what its like on the tables we ate from - what is it like in the kitchen!? The fish did not seem to be fresh (frozen fillets) and it would be amazing to find out that it was actually haddock - sadly it appeared to be something else! I have visited once, I will not visit again. If you have another option for something to eat then I would recommend giving that a punt. If you dont have an option - I would recommend having chips only and not 'sitting in'. I raised my concerns regarding the cleanliness of the salt shaker (yeah, whats the point in listing it all out for them?) and they could not be less interested. The 'boss' behind the counter could not be less interested. Sadly, this is many peoples experience of Scottish fish and chips.

What a lovely surprise! Everything was spot on, from the food to the staff. I had the chicken satay and it was absolutely delicious! For dessert, the lemon tart was to die for. They had a quiz which made the evening even more pleasant. Massive shout out to the staff! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, what a great vibe. We had our dog with us and the staff was super nice to him as well. 100% the place to go to in Pitlochry!

We’ve stayed a good few times. It’s brilliant because it’s dog friendly AND the rooms are so nice and clean!! We’ve found when going away with the dog, you sometimes comprise on the comfort and cleanliness but not here! We were in 105 with our 6 month old baby and dog and it was perfect for storage space and size! As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted so nicely from multiple staff members. Shout out to Anna from Aberdeen who was so sweet to our rescue dog- you’ve got a friend for life lol! Breakfast was really nice- we both went for veggie option. Good to see oat milk on the buffet!! The drinks were lovely- I tried a couple mojitos on the second night! We will be back soon.

We went to eat here with our travel guide, the restaurant is very large so it takes a while to serve you. We ate salmon and mushrooms which was good, my partner ordered lamb which was a little tough, the place is very large and the staff seem tired of so many people coming in August. Pitlochry village is very pretty and has good shops.

Charming hotel in a small Scottish village. Cozy interior. Clean and fresh. Loud during the day, but dead quiet at night. Somewhat hard bed. The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Likewise the breakfast.

Went to McKays for drinks and a meal, very expensive for very average food. Was also charged a £20 service charge on out £180 bill for 4 people. Beware of the service charge if you vist..

Well located and nice "communal" places but the rooms need to be redone, faded wallpaper and average cleaning... the water in the toilets was brown when we arrived... The curtains let the daylight pass through and you can hear everything from the street. Decent breakfast, very cold and unfriendly receptionist

The worst fish and chips we have ever eaten. Hard breading that crumbles immediately. Everything is dripping with oil. Longer waiting time for take away. It's a shame about the beautiful fish. But the tartar sauce was good. That’s what you get one star for. 😝

Stopped in for something to eat but were told they were too busy. Receptionist wasn't overly friendly and neither were the restaurant staff. We went down the street to a more friendly establishment

Did not stay here ,only had dinner. Pretty average food as was the Bellhaven beer. All overpriced.

We had 2 rooms, one in each building on either side of the street. The private parking lot was full, we had to pay for parking in town. Our room was so cramped that we could no longer move around if the bathroom door was open. And no elevator so after an interior labyrinth and 2 staircases, I hope that our room is not offered to people who have difficulty getting around. The other bedroom was spacious but the carpet and furniture needed to be refreshed. The bedding was correct. Breakfast was very good, regarding dinner, mixed results. Some dishes are fried although this is not specified. All were plentiful. The hotel is therefore well located, very central but not very convenient.

All comfort, full continental or typical breakfast in a beautiful room, very good restaurant too.

Staff & food excellent could not do townhouse again all though what you needed was there ,the stairs were a sire point.

NO HOT WATER, NO WIFI … One of the worst places to stay in Scotland! We booked two rooms for June 2024 months in advance. When we arrived, we were surprised to be told that we had to stay at a house across the street from McKay’s. The house was musty and had a dreadful smell. The room was cold. The carpet was threadbare. We had no hot water in our room and no WiFi in either of the two rooms. It was an absolutely miserable experience. Because I believe in bringing concerns to management, I talked to the lady in reception about how awful our stay was. She said that she would reduced one of our bills by £30. A paltry sum considering what we had paid for the rooms but it was a gesture of goodwill that was appreciated. However, the discount was never given. I contacted them again by phone and by email but they refused to answer. Furthermore, I had reserved the rooms with one credit card and had later updated the reservation to change to a different card. Instead of charging the most recent credit card, they charged both cards! There are plenty of nice places to stay in Pitlochry - McKay’s is not one!

We decided to eat at the restaurant on a cold, wet, rainy evening in July and what a shame we did...We'd have been better off sirting in the rain with a bag of chips. Very overpriced food (£18 for a small bowl of chips with melted cheese). My wife ordered the haggis, neaps and tatties which, when it eventually arrived was way too salty and cold when it arrived. I ordered the haddock and while it was a fair size the batter was soggy and the chips were hard. Total cost including a couple of drinks, £130...very poor.

What a disappointment drink order was wrong,food order was wrong ,the food was bland and had the cheek to add a tip on for themselves. Will not be back

Stayed at McKays over 2 nights to attend their tribute evening for Dirty Dancing and Grease, thoroughly enjoyed our evening (hubby went under duress but had a ball). The hotel is spotless and the rooms are a good size, could do with a few pictures on the wall of Scottish scenery in the rooms but couldn't fault any part of them. Had breakfast and dinner. From a Scottish lass I love black pudding on my breakfast but that's a personal choice. The menus were varied and the food was great. The staff were extremely helpful even remembering what type of vodka I drank(maybe I had a few ;-) ). All in all a great stay and i would stay again.

We stayed for bed and breakfast. Room was ok. Fish and Chips were average. Wooden cutlery less sustainable than metal cutlery (in my view). Breakfast was dire. “Smashed Avocado” was in fact guacamole paste from a jar spread thinly on a piece of cold limp toast with 4 blobs of chilli paste. Awful.

Two fish and chips one steak in ale pie. I prefer any pastry to puff pastry! BUT, the steak and ale pot pie with a puff pastry lid was unbelievably great. On taking the lid off seeing the huge amount of steak and gravy, inverting the lid so the flakes could soak in gravy in order not to shatter was a good start. The amount of steak was massive. Each large steak piece was so tender to be falling apart, the flavour was as good as it gets. My fellow diners enjoyed their fish and chips. There was a good selection of beer, A great lunch.

Not hot on ambience (TVs, canteen style seating arrangement), but surprisingly good food! The fajitas are presented very imaginatively and taste great. The chilli burger was excellent. Service is very efficient but still friendly. Prices for food are good, but the wine is very pricey. So not a place for an intimate night out, but pretty good for a cheerful noisy meal.

We went to the restaurant to eat and, having free tables, they told us that at that time they did not have free tables, they will know why they did it... We ended up at The Old Mill and so deliciously.

We (dog & I) frequented this restaurant while we were waiting on a job start. The staff were friendly, helpful & the most beautiful waiters I’ve seen in a while!! Such a treat!! Restaurant: Overpriced with bland food and extremely poor service! The fish n chips are super good, but everything else we ordered was bland without flavor. The service is ridiculous! Barely ever had anyone stop by the table and when we did it was a different person that we had to get their attention. The only decent thing is the atmosphere “Hotel” Average hotel with basics. We stayed across the street in the family room. The kids were very comfortable in the bunk beds, but the other bed is a double which I haven’t slept in since school. Bathroom was extremely narrow!

Very nice hotel. Delicious dinner and breakfast. They have a small continental breakfast and you can also choose a breakfast dish that is freshly prepared for you.

Stayed one night with a tour group on a whisky and beer tour. Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms. The restaurant on the main floor had delicious food and accommodated our large party. We pre-ordered food, but seeing those who ordered the steak pie had me wishing I was more adventurous than fish and chips, although that was lovely as well. The hotel location was situated in a prime location in the small tourist town with walkable shops. Will be staying again in the future.

Pitlochry was a regular destination for me, but at just short of a very greedy £7 for a pint in all pubs, those visits will be no more.

We booked a family room which was in fact not in the actual hotel but opposite the road inside an apartment, room was ok but breakfast was supposed to be served at 7am but the hotel main entrance was locked and we had to wait outside ….. for half an hour …. Even our friends inside the hotel cannot exit through the main entrance/ exit … they have to get out through the emergency door … dangerous at time of fire …

We stayed in a separate part of the building, which was unfortunately very old and run down. No WiFi and a super cramped bathroom with dim lighting. Breakfast was quite good. It's a shame for the price paid.

Stopped in the bar 3 days in a row for beer and food one day. The young woman behind the bar with the short dark hair and blue polo shirt could not have been more helpful, ensuring my wife’s meal as vegan and she was chatty and friendly, a real asset to the restaurant. The food was good as well.

Didn't stay. Had a meal. Service superb. Food... My partner had a lovely mac and cheese. Sadly the oil smell from chips and schnitzel, overpowered the food. I'd still recommend based on the food we saw served to others.
