Avoid. All deep fried dishes tasted and smelled like old fish. Chips appear to have been cooked more than once too.

Normally love paklok but I left my meal. Not up to it's usual standard. Very disappointed. Expect much better quality for the price.

Pak lok used to be one of my favourite takeaways. Not anymore sadly. The honey chilli chicken was vile/inedible and I had to throw it away (it looked nothing like the picture in the menu. What a waste of money.

If I could give 0 stars I would, £42 for cold tasteless food, the chips were rock solid and I think it was a quarter portion, the curry sauce was half a tub, the noodles were pale and bland and the wontons were the emptiest, most expensive wontons I’ve ever had! There was literally no filling, I had such high hopes for this place but have been hugely let down with a large dint in my pocket.

would 100% recommend ordered a number of times and food quality and temperature is amazing also Never had any issues with any of my orders.

We ordered 6 meals for 6 people and came very quickly and still piping hot! So impressed will defo be coming back love you so much to the owner of this takeaway, made my 21st birthday the best 21st birthday I’ll ever have xx

Great menu selection loads to choose from which is great as my husband & I are very picky. The food was delivered bang on time and was delicious. We would definitely order from here again.

I mean i do like the food here previously but won’t be back found a bit of plastic in my food last week and I rang to complain about this then the lady was like umm no not here.. well I definitely found it in my food they took my number and said they would call back and it is nearly a week no call back terrible customer service they don’t care

First time trying this place. Very warm welcome from the lady front of house. Very reasonably priced and accommodating to changes. Was a bit disappointed with the wontons when I opened them. (Pic1) Thought it was a sign of what's to come but oh how I was wrong. Massive portions after that. Salt and pepper chicken was lovely and a massive portion. Curry sauce is lovely and sweet. Only marking it down coz of the wontons. Otherwise, spot on!!! Highly recommend.

Just had a Chinese from here and nothing we got was fresh chips cold beef chewy spring rolls were that burnt they were black never ever use this place again

Absolutely disgusting munchie box, all burnt and reheated. The curry sauce exploded and melted into the box and also burnt my hand !! We will not be returning here again

Called in and ordered a take away 7/1/23. I am only 5 mins away so got home asap. Spare ribs in King do sauce, really terrible. Egg foo yung like a burnt omlette and greasy. Chips soggy and undercooked. Good ratings are old prior to new owners so do not be fooled into thinking they reflect the quality now. What a pity , this place was once brilliant

News years eve. Decided to go back to Paklok after covid. What a mistake. Ribs tough at £7.50 for 4 and tastewd of burnt oil. Chicken and ginger like gloy gum, chips soggy. Terrible, I will not be back and advise you to do the same

Disgusting to say the least. Chicken balls and chips all re-fried and absolutely charcoaled. Couldn’t get your teeth through the chicken balls at all. Wouldn’t even let the dog eat one. 30 pound order and the food quality was absolutely terrible. We won’t be ordering again in a hurry. The noodles were mushy and awful. Sweet and sour sauce watery and so vinegary. Prawn crackers were the best part of the order and even they were stale.

Worst meal I have had from here and I used to come here a lot. Definitely gone down hill. King prawn curry had horrible watery sauce at the bottom of the tub. Had to drive 25 mile round trip to replace it yet same quality again and told it was soy sauce. Awful taste and when complained I had to drive so far to change it I was offered a can of pop. Won’t be back. Poor quality, poor customer service

We've taken to ordering from here regularly (we like Chinese takeout WAY too much!). Its decent quality all round, and we've tried a good bit of the menu. We get our orders in no time. They always tell us 'up to an hour' but its never taken more than half that. Only gripe is that we got a hair in one of our orders... That was a while back, and it happens, but it's off putting. OK... update. Need a new Chinese place. Just got a quarter duck that came with mouldy, rotten cucumber and spring onions. Had started eating before we realised too...

Disappointing. Main meals full of peppers to make up for the lack of meat and the meat that is there is poor quality.

First time i have been since lockdown started. The counter staff were polite and fun but the food tasted like it had been stored in a damp place. It was disappointing. It all looked good. Without the taste, the good points mean nothing

Just had a take away. The chicken absolutely cremated and inedible. Could only eat the rice, straight in the bin it went or new teeth. Got my food in shop within 3 mins from arrival. Dreadful must have been made hours ago! Such a shame hope this is constructive but i'm very hacked off! Do you have a right to reply? You should and explain!

Used Pak Lok for many many years. Last ordered in April ...meal was terrible. I phoned as soon as we received our food and started eating the meal to complain about the quality and taste. It was actually put in the bin. Certainly was not beef. We were told next time we ordered it would be a complimentary meal, free of charge and a note would be taken of it as we were longstanding customers. Rang up this evening (first Chinese since April) and spoke to the same man who answered the phone when I complained. I explained the situation and was basically made to feel that I was lying, because it was back in April. I have the call history on my phone from April...time of ordering and complaint call. He expected a "recording" of the call and for me to know his name. Arrogant and wouldn't honour the complimentary order. Told him I would go elsewhere which we are doing ... Looking at reviews it has obviously gone well down hill and they don't deserve the business. Zero customer service after using Pak Lok for so long.

We used to use Pak Lok all the time,our local Chinese Takeaway was closed today,whilst the staff are friendly the quality was poor especially the beef.Happy to pay more but won't be back soon😔

Vile. 1st time used. Never again. Gave the pork to the dog. Rather have chopped pork. Tinned waterchesnut. Bamboo shoots.beansprouts mush mush mush. Curry like yellow water Egg foo young like mashed up poor scrambled egg. Tramps. Get better from a Supermarket for half price. Dog food.

Moved in the area 2 years ago and i’ve tried many different chinese places but this is definitely the best one i’ve been to! Service is amazing, they’re always really friendly and the food is just amazing. If you’re wanting to try something different try crispy house special mixed meats in honey chilli with egg fried rice and their amazing Singapore chow mein. Currently trying to decide on what to get tonight 😂.

This is our go-to Chinese. On the odd occaision we've had an issue, we just called up and they sorted us out.

My meal was delicious! I partially judge a Chinese takeaway on their prawn crackers, and I specifically want to dedicate this review to how good Pak Lok's prawn crackers are. They're large, thick enough to hold rice -with- sauce, not too greasy, not too porous, and full of flavour! Also, very friendly service ^-^

Certainly one of the best Chinese takeaway establishments I frequent, I can say the food is always nice and I use them quite regularly, a 5*rating only hygiene is the bomb(well done pak lok)

Tried to write a full review but wouldn’t post. So let’s just say, the chicken balls were mounds of thick stodgy greasy batter and the sweet & sour sauce was thick and tasteless. King prawns were small rubbery, possibly frozen prawns, definitely not fresh, noodles again were tasteless and thick of greas, 1% bean sprouts 99% noodles and the chips, how can anywhere go wrong with chips? Got the salt&chilli chips, all burnt crispy with no potato left inside, probably re fried after going cold. Give this place a miss, thank me later! P.s. wish I’d taken photos of the rest!

Duck in orange sauce is delicious and the duck pancakes too are excellent. Always tasty food and fast delivery or collection from them. Very good customer service, especially from the man we picked our food up from on our last visit. Only had a problem with wrong food or forgotten food a couple of times in all of our orders (probably too many orders!!), and they were great about resolving the problem. Rang about forgotten chips once and were told they could deliver them to us right away or they would comp our next meal - above and beyond what we expected!

Pedí un plato de fideos con una pequeña salsa agridulce para acompañar. Creo que ponen además una bañera de baba. Incomible. La carne en el plato de fideos de Singapur parecía como si hubiera sido masticada. Mi amigo tenía el curry de champiñones y no pasó mucho tiempo antes de que saliera de su cuerpo. Le dijimos que vivíamos frente al n. ° 62 pero no pudimos verlo por la ventana. . . . luego dijo que no tenía 65, así que salimos por la puerta principal y miramos el 65, que es un par de puertas en el mismo lado. . . Como vivimos en un culdesaco, sabíamos que él no estaría allí, pero pensamos que deberíamos comprobarlo. . . el conductor del reparto sonaba como si no creyera lo que decíamos. . . Llamamos a Pak Lok, pero no obtuvimos alegría, así que sonó Just Eat. . . intentaron llamar a la tienda y al dueño en su número personal, pero nadie contestaría. . Hemos recibido comida entregada antes sin ninguna molestia, pero definitivamente no la volveremos a ordenar. . . Una hora y media desperdiciada esperando comida! Muy, muy decepcionado!

Customer service over the phone was terrible. The man I spoke to was so rude!! I appreciate they're very busy but customer service is paramount. Bit of advice....be polite to your customers when they call!!

He usado Pak Lok por más de 15 años. El menú incluye todos los favoritos chinos para llevar, así como uno o dos artículos menos comunes, mi favorito personal es el Chicken KingDo. Siempre está impecable, el personal es amable y las órdenes se sirven con prontitud.

This is my favourite Chinese takeaway. Mind, I always get exactly the same thing so can't bpvouch for the quality of everything else. Get the crispy salt and chilli prawns with chips and a portion of black pepper sauce and you'll thank me for it!

Decidí probar una comida para llevar en Newcastle y me dijeron que esta es una buena. Pedimos algas crujientes, fideos crujientes de ternera y arroz frito con huevo. Llegó en tiempo rápido amigable hombre de entrega (jonatón) y un buen precio.Me senté a comer mi comida y no me decepcionó muy sabrosa sazonada perfectamente, podría sinceramente comer una y otra vez si estaba delante de mí.

Esperé más de una hora para mi estado de ánimo era este y paraparesia en unos segundos. Si estás buscando un buen tiempo este chino sólo dejará decepcionado.

Great when they get your order right, quick service

Took well over an hour for delivery. They missed half the order and when we phoned about this they said it would take another hour to deliver this. We then asked for a refund for this part of the order and they just hung up the phone, ended up getting food from elsewhere...awful customer service, will never order from them again

Delivery was delay by 30 minutes, then said on Just Eat it was delivered. Couldn't get through on the phone. Food finally turned up two and a half hours late, incomplete order and cold.

AVOID!! Was told my order would take 45 mins to deliver, kitchen then added 30 mins to the order. Order was marked delivered but never even came!!! Thankfully I didn't pay up front!

Contrary to the previous review that said it has gone downhill, I believe the opposite. The Pak Lok used to be awful and I'd never consider eating there, but when our local one was shut one day, we tried it. The food is amazing. Massive amounts of meat regardless of meal, the chow mein is the best I've had, and the crispy meals are to die for. Lush food, would recommend. Only bad thing - be prepared to wait when they're busy!

Bought 3 meals and 3 side dishes. The meat in the two fried dishes was overcooked and brittle and was very fatty. The honey chilli dish was totally flavourless and the chow mein dish noodles tasted watery. Three very different dishes and all three tasted like they had been rinsed in water before being put into the cartons. We had to use soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and hoi sin sauce to add flavour. Phoned to complain and was told they would "let the kitchen staff know." Have been before a few times and food was always okay but won't be going back. I could have cooked better myself using a cook book.

Whenever we fancy a takeaway, its always from here! Consistently fantastic and never lets us down. Salt and chilli chips are gorgeous, as is the sharing platter and garlic chicken. Would definitely recommend.

We have tried other takeaways but Pak Lok is by far the best. You always get friendly service with a smile and the food is great. The lemon chicken is one of our favourites!

Tried the ribs as a starter, good portion with plenty of sauce. Had the chilli and garlic beef. Very tasty, plenty of beef. Will try other dishes. Did have to wait a while for the order but it was Xmas eve and it's to be expected. All in all a good meal.

Never had a Chinese in months, the reason is because I find it overpriced, and usually never "Restaurant standard" every time I order one. But the wife said "give it another try" So we order spare ribs in king do sauce to start, the ribs were mostly fat and bone, and very very sweet, The main meal was Chicken chilli and garlic, with boiled rice and chips, the meal was mostly sauce, and once again very very sweet, I ate probably more of the rice than the meal itself, and the chips?? Must have been sitting there for hours on end, And to top it all off, no complementary prawn crackers,As per usual, another rubbish Chinese takeaway and I'm sick of it, Nowt but SHAN.

The crispy king prawns in chilli and salt are absolutely fabulous and I have to get a fix pretty regularly or I have withdrawal symptoms!

A favoured take away for years but under new management, which appear to know nothing about flavour or even how to cook rice properly. Sadly disappointing.

I order a set dinner for two which costs 16.3 pounds including sweet n sour chicken, spring roll, beef n mushroom, fried rice, prawn cracker and bbq spare ribs. The portion is enough for 3.The food is hot n the taste is good. The price is really value for money.

I never eat Chinese food s my wife is not too keen but tonight I had the chance to get what I like! I chose the Cantonese meat dish with fried rice & it was fantastic, the price was reasonable £6+ the service fast but not very friendly but I don't come for false friendliness I come for the cracking food & they did not disappoint.Want Chinese food in newcastle go to this place it's fantastic.

First time trying it after friends had said it was good. Food looked nice, but after a few mouthfuls i found a Plaster in my food! It was disguting! I rang to complain and they tried to say it was a peice of glove that they kitchen staff wear but it was not, they then said that no one in the kitchen had cut their fingers so had no idea how it got there! Needless to say I will not be going back to Pak Lok and will recommend my friends do also. They did offer all of my money back but quite rightly!

I ordered vegetable hot and sour soup when it came it had meat in . I phoned to complain and was told by the guy on the phone well I never cooked it. I asked for the manager but not there my son is a vegetarian and I am disgusted that this can happen . The rest of our meal had not much taste we usually go to south gosforth chinese but it was not open . Will definitely not be returning . Never even got offered another soup or money back. I think I might have to phone environmental health as advertising vegetarian meals but who knows.

I have tried other dishes from Pak Lok, which are fine, but I LOVE the crispy salt and chilli king prawns and have to have a regular fix or I get withdrawal symptoms.
