best Chinese takeaway in the area. have tried salt and pepper dishes from a few places but always find Jaks is the best.

It was delivered 30 minutes before estimated time but not a problem

The food was so tasty and arrived hot. We really enjoyed this and will definitely be back!

Went to collect and when got back home the food was lovely except for the chicken in batter. The chicken was cooked but the batter was crispy on the outside but soggy and think like paste on the inside. Not nice at all.

Food is always hot and full of flavour and portion sizes, especially if it contain prawns. Some restaurants use the smallest prawns but my meal was well worth it’s money.

The rice appeared to have been sitting out for a while, and the curry didn’t have any flavour. The entire food order tasted bland.

Notification popped up to say food had been delivered but we hadn’t received it , phoned take away to say we hadn’t received the order , was told it had been delivered to the wrong address, can’t fault them though another meal was cooked and delivered within 30 mins of phone call , food was lovely and would order from here again , mistakes happen but it’s how it’s dealt with that matters .

As always, Jak's was unreal! Haven't ordered in ages (trying to be good), but the quality is every bit as good as we're used to - cheers guys!

Got a message at 8:10 to say our food was on its way, was delivered at 8:40 and as you can imagine it was freezing! Chips were like cardboard and generally the worst Chinese we have had in a long time

Chow mein was tasty but the beef was tough and chewy so left the beef but ate the tasty noodles. Chicken was not stir fried in the szeuchan dish and the pieces were very thick but flavour was good

cold.cant remember how late it was but took around a hour and a half for a curry and rice with spring rolls.was cold.chicken was processed cheap meat.went in the bin

Really good!Food was piping hot and all dishes were lovely. We had crispy Cantonese chicken, salt and chilli king prawns and vegetable chow mein. Chicken and prawn dishes were so good and the chow mein was really tasty with loads of good veg in. Even chips were nice. Can’t fault it, my son said it was the best takeaway we’ve had in ages.

Food was cold, took far too long to be delivered when I live minutes away from the shop. Unacceptable wait for the food and charge for delivery. Food was horrible and had no taste.

rang up to say I was missing fried rice and made to feel like I wasn't telling the truth. baring in mind I have used this place for about 10 year and never had a problem or ever rang up to say anything is missing I didn't expect the response I was getting over a box of rice.

This a perfect example of why rarely by Chinese because even the basic is to complex! Ordered simple chips curry and rice! Rice was stodgy at best! Ordered and out within 5 minutes. Don’t expect anything amazing but surely some pride and care. This is definitely a do not use! Sorry. How any of Chinese takeaways in North East get trip advisor reviews or hygiene ratings above 2/3 beyond me! All processed food and overpriced. Real shame people accept poor standards including the customer. Remember 20 years ago when Chinese food was great and you had to wait for it to be prepared and cooked. Laughable today.

Beautiful food piping hot - we had hot spicey soup, chicken fried rice curry sauce and chips black bean house special - loads of food and thoroughly enjoyed it

This Chinese takeaway has been a go-to for me for a long time. The food is consistently delicious, and they're always accommodating to my little changes and requests. It's a solid reliable option for a chinese.

That has to be the worsr chinese we hsve had. The fried rice was more like a rice pudding, awful and stodgey.

Food didn’t come until an hour later and Luke warm when came practically cold can’t re heat chicken usually use jaks Chinese such a shame rang 3 times asking where order was said it was due to (euro football) not An excuse for customer service.

When I saw the flat chicken balls I was expecting the worst but honestly the food was realy nice curry had a nice spice chicken balls were tasty and soup was delicious :)

Dear Jak's, I am writing this review not only to congratulate but to appreciate non other than this fine quality Chinese cuisine. I was stunned by how fast you delivered said meal to my humble abode. A doubtful thought did cross my mind that the food may have been rushed and would lack quality. I was completely wrong. The food that graced my lips was nothing short of Michelin a 5-star quality.

chips as dry as the sun , about a week old , beef totally inedible! salt and chilli chicken way too salty!! total rubbish ! in the bin... foaming

Great place. Not local to the area but arrived really late to our hotel and wanted proper food not fast food. So chose Jaks to get a nice meal and was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious chicken fried rice, the portion was enough for 1 adult and 1 child. Really liked you could order a side of rice with a main too so we didn’t need to get 3 separate meals and could share between us.

Just moved to Howdon recently and doing the traditional "can't be bothered to find pans to cook with as still packed up", decided to have a shot of one of the local Chinese, I'm particularly fond of crispy shredded chicken which is an easy way to narrow my search field, located this one which is only 4 mins away, and jackpot, ticked all the boxes, really nice and just the way I like it, not often I get lucky on first search...defo going again!

Shocking service. I haven't even tried the food yet. The first time my order was cancled after delivery time had passed the second time I pre ordered and they are still estimating 50 mins after delivery time with no number to call.

I'm really sorry Jaks I always enjoy your food , decided to try crispy shredded beef in salt chilli pepper, I've never seen such unappetising food it looked grey, and is it supposed to break your tooth ? it was totally inedible and its all gone in the bin, what on earth is this dish supposed to be? I'm still chewing on the beef it was terrible, this has really put me off 😒 if I decide to order again I'll stick to our usual Singapore dishes, I've given 1* for the curry fried rice and chips 🙄

Jaks is usually excellent but my meal last night was definitely not to the usual standards. It took ages to be delivered and when it finally arrived it was cold, almost as if it had been made and left sitting before the driver delivered it. Also can’t collect from Jaks meaning the food is always £3 more expensive.

Was 60-75 minutes even ordering. At 100 minutes range restaurant and there days they were cooking it now. At 130 minutes it arrived and the food was cold
