The wonderful reputation the original simon had is gone. Miserable guy took my order, he didnt want to be there and it showed. Food was awful. Fried chicken in cantonese sauce was so disappointing. Beef curry and fried rice, yuk. We wont be going back ever.

Good sizes and was very nice. I will order again!

Phoned up to place order the man could not understand my order so I changed what I was ordering to a king prawn chow mean to find it was all noodles and bean shoot and only 4 prawn was very disappointed with my food tonight

Polite staff taking order always happy and its a nice little shop . Have had food from here many times on pickups and also deliveries couple of problems in the past but do enjoy the food ( normally ) however tonight we got a pick up so expected to get just cooked hot food we live literally a 4 minute drive from the shop ... how wrong we were !! Chop suey rolls had clearly been heated up from previous order soggy and cold not just warm actually cold , chow main again cold and you could feel the grease on them clearly not cooking long once ordered , special fried rice was just greasy and again cold and very clumpy !! The only thing that was hot were the separate sauces we ordered of curry and gravy . The lot went in the dog given this place more chances that it's deserved ( everyone has a bad service ) but that was just disgusting and inedible. Never again you have lost good customers with your quickness for it to leave the kitchen and no thought of the customers actually enjoying the food , terrible terrible food .

I have used this Chinese takeaway for a few years, and the food has always been good, however with a £20 minimum order, plus delivery fee and service charge, I just can't justify the cost any more. Collection isn't an option as my little boy is in bed, and paying £24 minimum for a meal for one person is exceptional, especially in the current climate, even if it is only an occasional treat

Chicken chow mein was lovely, house special peking really nice, hot and sour soup unreal, the best I've had. Crispy seaweed was not good. Way too much sugar, far too sweet and not worth £5.30. Other than that, decent take away.

I'm incredibly disappointed, Simon's chop suey was my grandads favourite takeaway (this was prior to ownership changing several years ago). I've not ordered food since then but I remember it always tasting lovely and nicer than the majority of the competition. We ordered in earlier this week (house special fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, chips, curry sauce and prawn crackers). It arrived on time and we ordered via website with no issues. The food was honestly the worst Chinese food I have tasted in a very long time. All you could taste was grease, the chips were bland and stale, the prawn crackers were the only half decent food. I hope it was a one off but I won't be going back after that experience. The food at any buffet is 1000x better.

Phone up for spare ribs 2 chow mien’s and chips.When arrived there was no chips phone back up and told them there where no chips she didn’t believe me and put the phone down on me I had phoned back up call me a liar . Is is disgusting the way they work would not recommend this place .It has gone very badly down hill since Simon left They have blacking his name And the food doesn’t taste nice end up giving it to the dog and the dog refused to eat it .Council should shut the dump down

Average food but will not be returning due to the lack of customer service. This is a joke there. Rude and ignorant staff. Got my order wrong and tried to blame it on me, even though I was happy to take the order (I ordered 4 things mixed) the staff tried to belittle me in front of other customers and continuously kept talking over me when I tried to explain what I actually ordered. Appalling and extremely disappointed.

We placed our usual order, not thinking it would be any different, the salt and chili chicken had no flavor whatsoever it was inedible, I rang to tell them and they told me to put salt on it and would not replace or refund, we will never use them again.

Was short changed by the driver by 10 quid when he delivered to rake lane hospital on sunday night.sent another staff member to collect .wont use again .tried to ring but no one picked up.shame on you

Just had my first take away from here, crispy pancake rolls delicious, however beef in green chilli and garlic was inedible far too spicy and I like spice, after once piece of beef I can't feel my lips or tongue disappointed to say the least

Used this chinese for years now and had the usual duck and blackbean sauce. Disapointed by the quantity of duck and green peppers in tray. Lacking in veg and carton was not full and mostly sauce. Unfortunately meal was not adequate for as a main meal. Sauce was bland chips were OK as was curry sauce. Very disappointed

I’ve ordered from here a few times now - it’s more expensive than others in the area, but the quality is consistently good, I love the chop suey rolls and sweet and sour chicken 😄 We like duck and pancakes - which is always lovely. I have 2 criticisms which why I only gave 4 stars and not 5. 1. The pancake amount - you only get 6 with a quarter portion of duck - other places give 10 - and 6 isn’t enough for all the duck. Would love them to up the amount of pancakes. 2. You have to pay separately for prawn crackers - and they’re over £2, whereas other places give them away free, so this seems a little stingy.

First time customer and I will definitely be going back, food was lovely and piping hot,very generous portions aswell,so much so that I couldn't eat my spring rolls till later😁 the chicken spring rolls were amazing,even treated myself to a banana fritter which I haven't had in years,yet another generous portion. I feel 5 stars isn't enough so I'll add another ☆☆☆☆☆☆

Always always Amazing !! My favorite around was my birthday today and i always love simons foods always fresh and always warm !! The Cantonese sauce is amazing !!! Deffo recommend x x

I Ordered Spring rolls, Salt & Pepper chicken, Extra Chow Mien, Salt and Pepper Chips, Fried Rice and Curry Sauce. Got to say everything about it was lovely. I have so found myself my new local Chinese 👌

Had house special chow mein. It was black. It tasted like everything was floating in a whole bottle of soy sauce. Not good at all.

Have been going there for a long time. But the last 3 months there have got my order wrong. And have asked for the wrong thing back and not said sorry not going back

Have used this takeaway several times (maybe slightly economical with the truth here!) and it’s always been fabulous! Food is always lovely and fresh. I usually just have a special chow mein without prawns and I love that it’s not just beige and has colour. The lady on the phone has always been chatty and polite as is the delivery driver. I really can’t see where some of the old rubbish reviews have come from. It’s definitely the best local takeaway I’ve had.

I’m always sceptical about trying new places for Chinese food. I decided to try this place last year after experiencing many failed, miserable Chinese takeaway’s ordering from local places and I can happily say that this is without a doubt the best we’ve had. The food always arrives hot and has the family commenting saying how nice it is. It may take a bit longer than usual on busy days which is understandable. We won’t go anywhere else now. 10/10 and definitely worth a try.

This used to be best Chinese & went there for years. Got special chow mein, chicken was obviously from frozen as was square chunks & no vegetables at all!! Also egg fried rice which had no egg & lots of soy sauce plus heard the woman on phone to another customer, she was really rude to customer & actually hung up on them 😮 Suspect Simon doesn’t own this anymore.... shame I won’t be back 🤐

Ordered chicken chow mein from simons as my usual Chinese was closed. Wish I had not of bothered. Noodles were dry and tasteless. Chicken was the same. Had some type of brown additive? Texture was mushy and thick. Would not recommend this Chinese at all totall waste of money. I would of enjoyed a pot noodle more.

I've not been here in years and wasn't sure what to expect but the food was amazing. Very tasty and good portion sizes. It was delivered on time and polite driver.

Maybe not always perfect but certainly the best local Chinese food. We particularly like the salt and pepper squid and the really nice and very large spring rolls. Beijing duck is worth a turn too. Definitely a repeat order place.

very bad customer service as lady speaking on the phone was very rude. The food ordered did not come on the selected time and when I rang and queried it they then told me the food had went in the bin and they weren’t going to deliver

Tryed a few different dishes nd every 1 off them have been outstanding.

What a dam disgrace this place is ! I ordered beef with king prawns in black pepper sauce , the delivery guy came to my door I put it out on the plate to notice I only had king prawns in black pepper sauce ! I phoned them and said about the mistake . The woman I got was an absolute nightmare . I said I wanted a fresh dish sent out and I would pay the difference as she said she didn’t charge me for the beef which I think she did . I paid £13 for prawns in black pepper and fried rice and seaweed . When I asked for a new dish she said I was overreacting and it was extreme to send out a new dish even know it was their mistake ! She was so nasty and vile and I said I would post this she said do what you want and that the customer is not always right . When I asked to speak to Simon he said I don’t want to speak to that !! The food was awful and the service was even worse . After a long day all I wanted was a lovely takeaway and I got a foul mouthed woman . I have ordered from here many times and no problems but I will never come back again . They have lost my custom . If this is how they talk to their customers I’m sorry but what a disgrace . That lass needs a lesson in customer service . I will be sharing this review and I will be taking it to the food watchdog team who take these matters seriously .

Terrible 1st time I've ordered from here and will be the last waited a hour and a half for the wrong stuff 2 be delivered then told would have a long wait if i wanted the correct order because they were so busy

I moved to North Shields a year ago and have now tried most pubs, restaurants and take-aways in the area that look half-decent. I must have tried all the Chinese and Indian take-aways that deliver and the family vote for best ones was this and "Perfect" (which does get good reviews.). The food turned up on time, was hot, tasty, reasonably priced, good size portions and no-one was ill after eating it (always a bonus). 5 out of 5 family members decided it was the best one. Is there another Chop Suey house with the same name? Do they have two chefs, one of which can't cook? What's going on here?

Tried this takeaway tonight and would rather stick my fingers down my throat than let it digest. Ordered it and expected a 45 minute wait as told by the woman on the phone, arrived warm 10 after hanging up the phone. Chow mein and egg fried rice old and reheated. All 3 of us left feeling sick. THE WORSE CHINESE TAKEAWAY I HAVE EVER EATEN.

Waited an hour and a half for my food, when it finally came I opened it up and it was totally wrong, used to order every week now I'll be looking for somewhere else.

Having used this takeaway a couple of years ago thought i would try it again but to my disappointment wouldn't even give it to my dog placed order and said it would be 40 mins no sooner had I put my phone down it was at my door don't even know what the chicken was went in the bin never again

Made a telephone order, advised food would be ready in 15 minutes.. Food was freezing cold, obviously not warmed up enough from the day before. Crispy chilli beef did not look or taste like it.. Vile! The only place fit for this meal was the bin!

I get their kung pow? (spelling) house special all the time. Absolutely delicious. Good value, friendly staff, cracking value. Without a doubt the best Chinese in Chirton and it wouldn't surprise me if it were the best in the whole of the North Shields area.

Good choice of food staff are very friendly and sometimes waiting times override the pleasure of enjoying the meal.

Waited an hour and a half and you know when your craving take out from the hangover and you get food and its not up to standard ! Chips were dark brown. Obv been heated up! Curry was like water! I got house special it was all beef. That was dry as hell. Who puts carrots and green beans in a curry!? Highly disappointed. Won't go back!

Best Chinese in the north east without a doubt :).

My family have been loyal customers to Simon's take away, the owner is super friendly but the food can be very hit and miss. I have found that sometimes it amazing and I would happily give it 5* but other times it's just very bleak, bland and would be 2*. For this reason, I never come here no more and only eat it when my family order in from here.

Cant fault this place. Highly recommend it. If you go at lunch time it is slightly cheaper too! The place does deliveries and the staff are v friendly
