I booked a table via the website, 4days prior, I received the confirmation email however when we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time the place was in darkness, they were closed! This cost us taxis and a friend who's birthday it was felt let down. Terrible, I will not be using them again!

When I walked into the restaurant I felt it was dated and not very presentable to the eye. The service was very slow - I will allow for short staffing under current pandemic however there was no need to look so miserable especially when we were very polite. I had the vegetable balti and it was the worst one I had ever eaten , more like a bowl full of onions . I didn't bother complaining as the staff already looked stressed. The walk way to the toilets was also unkept with a hoover in the corridor . The toilets were the best feature as clean and updated . Would never go again!!

I ordered online at circa 18:00 hrs and booked a delivery slot for 19:00 hrs. I received a text message at 18:03 hrs to say that the delivery was estimated for 20 minutes which was too early. At 19:03 the food had not arrived so I called and a member of staff said that he would send the driver out straight away. At circa 19:30 I telephoned again and was assured that the delivery driver was on his way. At circa 19:45 I telephoned again and was told that the delivery driver was in my street looking for my house. My house is in a Cul de Sac and I am at the end of it so have a clear view of the street and no delivery driver was there. It turned out he had gone to a house in the next street! Eventually at circa 19:50 the food eventually arrived! A very poor service.

We used the place on Friday evening because they were not busy, which I was the first clue. Look I had no issue with the service this was good and the owner also said hi, but the food was not the best. I ordered the tandoori mixed grill and my plate looked like there was something missing and this was a £14 meal. This was the same for the other meals. I will not return.

Ordered takeaway in Saturday 7th August, contacted by telephone and stressed food allergies and what not to include. However, most if the dishes were as ordered, one dish contained all the ingredients I specifically asked to be omitted, This is not the first time this has happened, occurred on at least 3 occasions, and the Manager always apologies, but it seems the communication between him and the kitchen staff is not what it should be. Have contacted them to outline my complaint but they have not bothered to reply or even acknowledge my complaint. Not impressed

Delicious food and very enjoyable. Staff were very polite and helpful. Overall a very pleasant restaurant and would definitely come again under the same circumstances. Visited with family. Having been before and food was I would describe as average and if a little bland was not expecting much but restaurant was convenient and available so decided to give it another try. Restaurant empty at 7.15 which wasn’t a good sign but put that down to being a little early for Friday night. However our food was excellent, all the dishes were piping hot, full of flavour and very much improved from my previous visits. All of us ate all the food, normally something was left and everyone was complimentary about the high standard of food and service. Would definitely go again if the food quality remains at the high standard I experienced on this visit.

Pleasant decor, attentive service, and great food. I had three small dishes, all excellent (channa masala, tarka dahl, chilli paneer...although the chilli paneer had some odd melted cheddar in it). I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

Varied menu, attentive staff and very tasty food! We went on a Sunday night and it was surprisingly busy. I had a vegetable balti with peshwari naan and it was delicious. Plenty of meals for the kids as well.

Never been before but my mom likes it here so I went with her...I wouldn't go again tho. It's a nice place..plenty of room in there although it's smaller than it looks. Service was very slow..booked a table...seated but then forgotten about..food took too long. I don't like the smashed up popperdoms..looks good but difficult to know what you have etc..food was nice tho. There are so many Indian restaurants locally to choose from I definitely wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

My friend and I chose to eat here after being told the kitchen had closed for the night in the Merchant (at 7.30pm on a Thursday evening). The food was very tasty but it was disappointing to hear that the draught lager had run out resulting in us purchasing bottled lager which was more expensive. Very nice decor inside and helpful staff. My last visit to this restaurant was around 7 years ago so I can’t recall that much but the decor seems as though it has been updated since my last visit. Very nice, thanks.

We have always had great service and lovely food from here. Tonight we ordered a meal through Just Eat. The app confirmed that although we requested delivery at 8pm it would be delivered at 8.05pm. Knowing it was s busy night we had no problem. At 8.20pm we called to be told the meal had left and the driver would be with us soon. 20 mins later, still no food so chased it up to be told it only left 10 mins ago and would be with us soon. Finally the food arrived at 8:45pm and was just about warm. Very disappointed

We arrived and the restaurant was almost full with what felt like a nice atmosphere. We waited some time for service and after ordering it took a long time to be served. When the main arrived it was tasteless and looked more like a stew than a curry. Normally after a curry you have a pleasant after taste but with this ther was nothing.

We enjoy eating out early on a Friday evening with our 16-year-old son and have always chosen the Padma as it was his favourite. We visited the Padma late in November at roughly 6pm as they opened, the restaurant had just a couple of people in there. We all had a poppadoms and starters, plus main courses, poppadoms and starters were fine apart from the fact we had very little mint sauce and asked twice yet weren’t bought any extra for at least 10 minutes, as for main courses and accompaniments, this wasn’t great! My husband ordered a chicken balti, my son chicken tikka masala, two types of rice, chips, and two naan breads. The main course dishes came out with one portion of chips and when I asked where the other side were the waiter who served me said did you order anything else? We had almost finished our main courses before the rice and naan breads came out which was bad enough until the waiter blamed the fact that one of the chefs hadn’t turned up and they were short on waiting staff, The final error was the fact I’d ordered a Indian seafood main which was completely raw, the salmon in the middle was cold as was one of the other fish fillets, again when I complained he blamed the lack of staff with no apology at all. I do hope the Padma turn this around as it was one of our favourite places and so disappointing to see disappointing food and service. Just to add, they did not charge for the seafood main course but too little too late.

I've been a regular at the Padma for years now so thought it was about time I left them a review... What can I say, after many visits I just can't fault them! The atmosphere is great, the food is superb and the staff always do their upmost to keep you happy. Visiting the Padma has been a consistently pleasant experience and I will continue to do so, and I'll always recommend them!

Visited the Padma for a family Christmas meal. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The menu has lots of different and interesting dishes. I had the Padma special which I highly recommend. 🥂🎄

Well where do I start, very friendly staff, very clean place and the food omg it’s to die for, I had sag paneer my friend had garlic lamb, then garlic rice n naan to share and it was divine, I cleaned my dish will definitely be going back there very soon and taking my fiancé, if there was 10 stars instead of the 5, I’d have put it. Can’t wait to go there again

When the beast from the east hit we had to change our dinner plans with friends. We live within walking distance of the Padma so decided to visit here instead of our usual choice. The restaurant was empty we were the only ones in there. Service was good and the food was really nice although we did find it a little overpriced but an enjoyable night

We had previously had good food at the Padma so decided to give it another try.

Yesterday evening a party of 9 of our family met for a birthday celebration at The Padma: our “birthday boy” used to frequent the restaurant at its former position near the cinema, so it was some years ago! We are not local to Cannock.

4 of us visited the padma tonight, having booked for 20.00 we were eventually seated in a half empty restaurant, drinks ordered and the wrong drinks were promptly brought to our table, poppadom's eaten and our mains not even ordered. After 45mins and having to request that our order was taken we waited and waited for our food, meanwhile other tables were applauding when their orders arrived, others putting their coats on ready to leave having waited far too long for food. Our food was pretty average when it came, after our table was cleared we were promptly brought hot towels, then the bill was plonked on the table without offer of desert or coffee. I spoke to the manager about the appalling service who proceeded to tell me that everyone else in the restaurant was happy, at this point I heard another customer tell a waiter to piss off as he'd been waiting for his food for an eternity, and another unhappy table left saying they'd never return, the manager was very rude, I WOULD NOT recommend anyone goes here, very very disappointed

It had been about two years since we had been here . We were a party of 6 couples. The orders for food and drink were taken quite promptly and they brought us some poppadoms whilst looking at the menu. Then the wait began and we asked a waiter to check where our starters were, another 15 minute wait and they eventually arrived. There were other diners who had arrived after us who had their food well before us. I think our order had been forgotten. Most of the starters were very nice but my dad said his mushrooms were not value for money. The mains didnt take as long to come , these were hit and miss. My mums main was salmon which she said was lovely, my chicken tikkka biryani was very nice as was my friends chicken tikka but my husband said his rogan josh was very average and the other two mixed grills were very average. The staff themselves were very nice and friendly but they either need to get more staff to get the food out quicker or more staff in the kitchen. I had to call our taxi which had been booked to come later for us and sadly we all said we would not be returning.

The food here is great, reasonably priced and came out piping hot. The staff were friendly but service was a little slow. Note it has a licenced bar and you have to pay for parking (£1 evening charge). Would recommend.

Was told on phone would be hour and 20 mins after letting them know my order. I told the man I would go else where for him to say ok it will be there in 40 mins for it then to turn up 1 hour 30 later .not happy .

On a visit from Yorkshire ( Bradford) so of course we had a curry !! As experts hailing from the curry capital of England we feel qualified to say this was a good meal. A very good meal and we enjoyed it immensely. The only difference being the price; Bradford is cheaper !! Would recommend.

Visited on a Tuesday evening with work colleagues so it was quiet as expected being a week night. Service was excellent we had a Mixed Sharing platter as a starter and the Garlic Tiger Prawns were delicious. I can recommend the Chicken Tikka Nagah if you like spicy food and my friend had Lamb Shank that was also extremely tender and tasty. will visit again soon.

Saturday night, fairly busy, service very poor. Took a long time to order and even longer for the food to appear. Food a bit bland. Much better in the area, doubt we would go back. To top it all got a parking ticket. Rotten evening.

Joined my friends for a get together. Service terrible, couldn't handle a large party of people for a birthday get together! 16 in total. Waited 2 hours for food! Most of the order was wrong or parts missed! Chicken tikka masala, I've had exactly the same from Asda curry counter! Nothing special! Pilau rice cold. I wasn't drinking as driving, however soft drinks over priced!

Ordered a take away from the padma in Cannock. I ordered a chicken Bhuna. Food was cold, the container for the food was only half full and there was only three prices of chicken. I would not mind but it was quite expensive. I have eaten in the restaurant before and was impressed. Can't say the same for their take away service. Very disappointing.

We ate here on Saturday night for the first time after a day out with friends and found it average at best, I had garlic chilli chicken with keema rice the dish had no chilli heat to the taste and the chicken was over cooked and dry sorry guys but it wasn't up to scratch so we wont be returning

Visited last night whilst our with friend for a mid week meal.The staff are always very welcoming and polite, we were seated immediately.Opting for poppadoms as a starter and then a main only, the food was quick and hot. I choose a Tandoori mixed fish platter which was lovely and loads on the plate, I ended up sharing with my Husband. Our friends are both vegetarian and the staff were very helpful by cooking food not on the menu especially for them. Love eating here, one of my favorites.

4 of us went to the Padma last wednesday the 14/6 and all of us had a great meal no complaints at all fantastic meals staff friendly will go again...

Attended this restaurant with about 30 colleagues, we were booked in for half 7, 2 weeks prior to arrival and arrived on time. We proceeded to order drinks and were told if we placed our orders at the bar, the drinks would be brought to us. At 8pm, having waited half an hour for our drinks (a long island ice tea and a pina colada) we went to enquire about the delay, and were told to return to our seats as they would be out shortly. At quarter past 8, we went again and were told cocktails take too long to make and had to order something else as the 2 waiting staff they had working were far too busy to make us drinks, despite the fact approximately 35 other people had been served since we ordered. We queried this and were told "Boys you need to be patient" By half past 8 our drinks arrived, incorrect (2 ice teas, no pina coladas). At this point, nothing to eat, but popadoms had arrived. I understand that we were a large booking, but we had booked well in advance, plenty of time to get extra staff in, and being told to be patient came across as rude and abrasive. I downloaded the TripAdvisor app purely to leave this review. Shocking.

The food is always excellent from The Padma, whether you have a take away or visit the restaurant.They excel with their customer care, especially children. They talk directly to the little ones - not to the parents- and go out of their way to ensure that the children don't wait until last to receive their food! Very important. Well done Padma. Superb.

Friends night out made even better by great food and wonderful attention from Noah and the rest of the staff. Noah was helpful in suggesting dishes, which were really good; well cooked and nicely presented. It is a very friendly place and we thoroughly recommend it for any occasion. Book at weekends though as it gets busy. We have had a number of takeaways from here too and they are consistently good.

Our group of 16 had booked a meal here for a leaving party. From when we sat down to order drinks everything fell apart. We were split into two tables but they had accommodated to one big table in a previous meal. The first drinks seemed to be a task for the waiters to get right. Rose was brought out instead of Red Merlot. We asked to split the bill between two group of friends on the same table to make paying g the bill later easier and the waiter had happily agreed. However when it came to ordering our food, we reiterated that the bill was split between to the Two groups on the same table, the waiter then rolled his eyes. Huffed and moaned, even though the first waiter happily agreed to. He then said because we wanted to do that, the food would come out separately for the two groups. We tried to order water for the table 3 times before it was actually brought out to us. You could tell they were understaffed and running around panicking. Now I don't mind if they're having trouble keeping up, but when you are rude to the customers that's when it's a no go for me. The food was ok however some people said it was delicious. The other table of the group had finished their mains before the second tables food was brought out. That was very disappointing when they knew we were one big party. Nearly everyone had said it was terrible and won't be returning to Padma in the future. Only at the end closer to paying the bill and when a few customers had left did the waiters have smiles on their faces, probably because they still wanted their tip or because they realised how crap they had treated us. I think if it was a quieter night the night would have been much better, but on a Friday night it's expected to be busy. And they weren't prepared at all.

The food was delicious and the decor is good, but dont go in on a Friday night in February at 10.30 pm. We were the only ones in there, the waiters had their coats on ready to go home. We ordered our curries which came in 5 minutes and I have to say they tasted delicious, one of the best curries I have had in a long time. We had our eats and were ushered out of the door at 10.50 pm we had not even finished our drinks. It would have been better for them to say no I am sorry we have finished for tonight that to make us feel we were in the way and stopping them from going home early.

Very disappointed. Food was luke warm. Korma sauce was certainly lacking in creaminess and taste, and Pakora starter was soggy. Back in the day The Padma was by far the best in town but they appear to have lost the quality they used to have.

Booked a week in advance and told them it was for a birthday celebration. Arrived on Saturday night at 7pm and we weren't even greeted when we walked in. The place was busy and there were 3 staff that we could see and 1 of those was dealing with take aways and another on drinks. 1 person serving on a Saturday night. Bizarre. Anyway after being ignored for 25 minutes with no drinks or poppadoms offered we got up and left. Horrendous way to run a restaurant and even worse way to treat a group of customers. Won't ever go back.

We love it here. The food is tasty and there are some great drink choices including draught Cobra.The menu is varied so is more interesting than the 'average' Indian restaurant. Lots of seafood choices if you're into that.Banquet night on Tuesday is a great offer with 2 courses with side dish for £9.95 - great value and a nice way to try new things.

Went for the first time in a couple of years, and was slightly worried about some recent reviews. Needn't have bothered being concerned. I had Delhi Wraps to start which were excellent, my companions had chicken chat and mixed platter to start, the only fault was the platter was slightly poor value at 5.95. I followed with chicken tikka shashlick massala, very tasty. All in all, very tasty food with good service.

After a number of years we recently revisited the restaurant twice in the space of 2 weeks. I was impressed with the service on both occasions with the waiters being very friendly and efficient. In previous years the food could be described as average, however on both recent visits the quality and presentation of all the dishes ordered and served was excellent. Will be going again without a doubt.

We decided to go here New Year's Eve it was a set menu which was ok the food was lovely it's a shame about customer service our waiter was very abrupt and we felt was rude he was very rushed which made us feel that he wanted us to eat and get out of the way I felt it was expensive for what it was as the waiter had spoilt the experience this is not the first time I have had this kind of experience there but gave it the benefit of the doubt but I won't be going back it's a shame as the restaurant is clean they just need to improve there customer service

We had a table booked, however they had no record of it. The restaurant was totally empty however they 'squeezed us in'. We had to wait while they rearranged us a table and the manager was extremely helpful, very chatty and a lovely man. He was talking to the children and made a fuss of our family member who's birthday it was. The restaurant is very spacious and tasteful decorated. Beautiful toilets which is not common in most of the Indian restaurants in the area. The reason I've given this average is because the food was not good, out of 7 meals non of us enjoyed the food. There is so much competition in the area and unfortunately this is not great, which is a shame.

Service was great but food wasn't. The puree was folded and a little like cardboard,the keema naan didn't taste of much and the lamb was a bit tough. Coconut rice was nice though.

I love this restaurant but I find the take away meals very disappointing. After ordering a meal this evening after a long day out we thought we were set for a cosy night in with a good meal. Firstly the meal was a bit late but at least we got a phone call apologising. In arrival we were again given apologise as apparently they no longer do mushroom fried rice so a vegetable rice was put in its place which really was not pleasant. Finally a menu was put in with the meal for future use and what was on it??? Yep mushroom fried rice!!!

This was our annual stop over before the NEC Bike Show. 5th year in a row.Food Excellent, Staff courteous and helpful the manager was super friendly and proud of his heritage and how long the the business has been going showing off a menu from 1971. Prices and the menu had changed considerably!Atmosphere a bit lacking but what would you expect on a rainy Monday night.Would not hesitate to recommend to others.
