As a long-term member of this Healthclub I have witnessed the worst ever health, safety and management of the Healthclub, appalling lack of duty of care towards members and lack of communication. The cleanliness is atrocious, children left unattended in the swimming pool, no one looking after the safety of individuals… I’m amazed there hasn’t been a death quite frankly. After endlessly mentioning the lack of health and safety issues, they continue to be unresolved by both the leisure manager and the current manager of the hotel who is completely oblivious and couldn’t care less about the health and safety at the leisure club. I will never return is this Healthclub and will never take my grandchildren there. It’s not Leisure Club it’s a DEATH TRAP.

Stayed 2 nights as part of business need. First night meal ok and pleasant service although menu was limited. Last night was like Fawlty Towers? Warm water flat lager then 4 frozen calamari rings and “Aioli” .. actually garlic mayo #tradedescriptions, for over £6 ? Then I was presented with a pork loin steak that was the toughest I had ever eaten with 4 small cut up new potatoes that were barely cooked . The steak was placed on top of the 12 green beans as a serving suggestion or maybe so I did not count the beans? I gave feedback at the time as I will my company travel arranger of my experience and value for money. On an upside breakfast was both good quality and well presented.. keep that chef 👨‍🍳. As an aside I would also arrange for some staff training on what to do in the event of a fire, yes the chef did have a Fire 🔥 at 22:00hrs as “false alarms” do not cause smoke to fill corridors ? Nobody marshalled guests to the assembly point or knew how to silence the alarm panel after chef had dealt with his oven fire? As an ex catering manager / chef of 30 yrs experience I found myself wondering how food and service could have been allowed to get to the customer in such a standard? Room fine and good location … sorry as I have been on the receiving end of a TA review after a staff let down but I was also glad if the feedback to give to the team, which I did at the time and to reception staff. Organisatie van het diner was een ramp. Elke dag opnieuw. Eten was niet te vreten. Groenten echt niet gaar. Vis kurk droog. Kip idem. Beklag bij manager werd al lachend weggewuifd. Het antwoord van de manager was letterlijk: "Is het eten je niet bevallen? Wat spijtig, toch! Nog een prettig verblijf gewenst. Goedenavond". Schandalig! Niet aanbevelingswaardig.

I was a bit worried about booking here owing to other poor reviews. However, as I was staying in hotel nearby decided to take a chance. The food was lovely and the burger one of the best ever. They had no problem with slight changes to meal that I requested and the waitress was polite and attentive. The pudding was also lovely. The only gripe was the coffee was a bit on the strong side.

Staff overall were great, in particular Louise on the bar section, a credit to the hotel, polite friendly, and knowledgeable of the area, through her advice had a great weekend with places suggested. Throughout most of the couple of hours I was there even though she didnt stop working, from taking food and drink orders to serving. Efficient and professional and made my stay soo much more welcome.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and ate in the restaurant only once. The food was incredibly bad; my schnitzel was tough as a boot, greasy and had no flavor. Not wanting to venture into town our last night, we ate in the bar and ordered from the bar menu. Compared to our first meal, the food was a vast improvement. The chicken curry was tasty, but not very spicy.

We stayed here for one night on a weekend break. Our room which was supposedly a superior one was tiny and very dingy and dark. It was however very clean and the bed was comfortable with good quality Egyptian cotton bedding. The bathroom was also very clean with a walk in shower and towels and the usual toiletries provided. There was a T.V , ironing board, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities as you would expect. We appreciated the quiet location of our room [Rm 99] even though we had not requested it. Thank you. We ate in the restaurant and the food was O.K. - nothing special but adequate. Our waitress Rosie was outstanding though and in fact most of the staff here appear to be helpful and hardworking and trying very hard to adhere to the current Covid restrictions. I would love to know though why it is thought to be O.K. to evict residents from the restaurant at 10.00pm on a Saturday night? We were told just as we were served our coffee and liquers that we would have to finish our meal in the bar as the restaurant was closing at 10.00pm. Our table was booked for 8.00pm but I was left wondering what the outcome was for guests whose tables were booked for later times - were they expected to take their desserts in to the bar? So, be warned - you won't be allowed to spend a relaxing evening in the restaurant! We paid £159 for a Secret Escape but this was anything but that - there is absolutely nowhere you can relax in this hotel - no squishy sofas or anything like that and the rooms are too tiny to relax in either. Add to that we were woken by a dog barking in an adjacent room to ours at 6 o'clock on Sunday morning. Breakfast was mediocre and unremarkable and the hot food certainly wasn't hot. The addition of a microwave for the purpose of getting a hot breakfast would be a good idea. Finally, please be aware that if you want to use the leisure facilities you need to book in advance of your arrival. Supposedly you should get an e-mail and a phone call ahead of your arrival to arrange this but we had neither and therefore couldn't avail ourselves of the pool on the rainy Saturday afternoon as we had planned. We were offered a slot at 9.00pm on Saturday night or at midday the following day but that was after checkout and we already had our itinerary for Sunday. So all in all - save your money and go to the Premier Inn as there really isn't anything at all special about this place to warrant the extortionate amount we paid for not a lot!

The room was ok but poorly lite , the shower hardly worked. The pool was nice but limited because of covid19. The wine was £20 for a £6 bottle. We went on voucher £129 , use of pool double room 2 course meal and bottle of wine & breakfast. We had two child sized chicken tikka masala with the worlds smallest nann bread. Cheese & biscuits was nice but limited with a £3.50 supplement each. Breakfast was terrible , cold plates cold cooked food. When we complained they didnt bother coming back to us. ( its the temperature of the food , not the metal part of the bain marie) We will not re - visit. One star out of five. Not value for money or nice hot food..

Room OK very clean but rather dark owing to position . We booked through Secret Escapes for two nights inc breakfast and evening meal, and bottle of wine on one night . The food was very meadiocre burgers, pizza ,Nacho's anything else had a supplement like fish and chips , why ? I had grilled chicken breast which had been grilled to death a handful of green leaves and oven chips . The soup was nice to start. You could only have a starter and main not a main and sweet why? When we came here last year we had a lovely meal . Breakfast was not good either . Although there was a notice to wear face coverings a lot of people ignored this and no staff said anything . Won't be coming back again , think the Premier Inn up the road looks good and a nice easy stroll into Witney to eat .

Where do I start 🤔 my husband to be, booked this hotel as part of a secret escapes deal for us. This was a superior room, breakfast and a 2 course meal each. We were so looking forward to a nice stay & a bit of relaxation. As both working for the NHS the last few mths have been very tiring. As we checked in at the hotel we were greeted by a receptionist who did her job efficiently, however found it amusing that we were booking a double room with different surnames, and implying we enjoy our time in the room. This we found embarrassing & insulting. We were told the lifts were out of order and given directions to our room. Thankfully neither of us have mobility issues, as the room was up two flights of stairs and at the furthest point away. Upon entering our room we noticed how dark & claustrophobic it felt. With a sloping low ceiling (which my partner banged his head on) one small window and a dark alcove that had no purpose as to small for anything. We did find the bathroom & bedsheets clean with the usual bathroom toiletries. There was bottled water & tea/coffee, however only 3 sugars and 3 milks. Once settled into our room we decided to go down to the bar for a drink. We were served by a young man called Josh who was friendly & polite. Unfortunately though there was no draft beer of any kind, only 2 bottled beers were available and very over priced and no flavoured gins. Upon leaving the bar we noticed a sign for the restaurant and codes to scan to see the breakfast, evening meals and afternoon tea menus. We scanned these and found that the evening menu was the same as the one online & came with our booking (see attached) so we were looking forward to dinner. Upon arrival for dinner at 7pm we were greeted and taken to a table & handed a menu. We were very confused as this was a completely different menu and more of a pub bar meal menu. We called the waiter over and explained we had the wrong menu, who unfortunately didn't understand what we were trying to say. Getting frustrated we asked to speak to the restaurant manager Daniella. Daniella told us that the original menu was not available and only this temporary one. We asked why we weren't informed upon booking, checking in and why the website & scan code was still showing the original menu. She couldn't give us an explanation and just apoligised. As we were both hungry and had already paid for the meal as part of our package we decided on the steak (which looked like it was the best of a bad bunch). Daniella informed us that there was a £12 supplement for each meal on top. We were outraged as even the original menu steak which was of a better class of a meal only had a £6 supplement. We agreed to the steak but refused point blank to pay the supplement. Once it came we couldn't believe our eyes. A thin piece of frying steak a handful of frozen chips, 3 greasy onion rings a few button mushrooms and a pot of microwaved pepper sauce (with a thick skin). We tried to eat it but was unable to,it seriously was awful and to think they wanted an extra £24 on top! A dessert menu was offered but all they had was icecream. We were brought 2 complimentary liquor coffees as Daniella couldn't apologise enough. Unfortunately though this was more of a latte as was all mixed. There was stains all over the carpet, this was a genuinely an awful dining experience. We had an early night as were both very frustrated and disappointed. We slept quite well considering although had a rude awakening at 8am to a cleaner outside, banging doors & hoovering. We got up and packed up ready for breakfast and then getting out as quickly as possible. We weren't expecting much of breakfast, but to be honest it was quite good and Daniella couldn't do enough for us. On checking out a different receptionist asked if we'd had a good stay, we replied unfortunately not it's been terrible and we won't be back. Her reply was oh...well have a good day. So if you've managed to read this to the end please don't waste your money going here you will be extremely disappointed.

Spent two nights book through Wowcher. There are quite a few negative reviews which I did not read till after we booked so I will comment. We booked a superior room and our room was very good, modern, clean good air con, excellent bathroom with shower. The room was a good size and the desk and table could be a little bigger to take advantage. Room was quiet though there is low traffic noise from the A40 as we were facing that way. The gym is well equipped but small. Two running machines but one of other things and hardly any floor. There was little problem when I was there with five people in. The pool and other facilities are nice but also small but not overstretches. All the staff are very nice. I was happy and enjoyed all of this. The hotel did provide bathrobes in the room but we did not notice till we were leaving and did not see others wearing them, maybe nobody notices. We ate in the restaurant both nights, first night was on Wowcher and second because we thought it was good enough. Note that Wowcher are a bit discrete about the offer that even if you book two nights there is only one meal. We had noticed but the hotel is obviously used to disappointment because after we booked for the second night someone rang us back in the room to make sure we knew we had to pay. The restaurant is my main reservation about the hotel. The breakfast is very good and as you would expect from a 4* hotel. The evening meal is good enough, my wife was positive and me a little negative. We both agreed that had we been staying a third night we would have gone out. There is no a la carte but there is quite a choice on the fixed price, though some with supplements as you would expect. It is actually quite cheap but I think the food reflects that in terms of interest and standard. Not close to the level of a good gastro pub. For location and facilities we might well go there again but would not be excited about the evening meal and reading other reviews I might be concerned that we were lucky with our room this time.

Recently used this venue for a birthday party for about 40 people. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and put on a good spread for afternoon tea. They also allowed us to decorate the area which we were occupying which was good as the hotel is a bit drab. However, the hotel bar is very expensive, and we felt that the Premier Inn down the road offers better overnight accommodation. It's a pity that the owners haven't kept the building and rooms in better condition. However, full marks to the lovely staff who helped us have a nice party.

After taking 20 minutes for the staff to check us in as it seemed like the blind leading blind, the general hotel and room seemed ok. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had came into the restaurant for our evening meal. The menu seemed lovely. Once ordering our starters it seemed to go down hill. The starters were basic and paying supplement for the salmon was very poor. Steak and half a roast chicken as our main. Why ask how you want steak cooked when it is clearly ignored! A half roast chicken in the clue within the dish. NOT a chicken leg and not even a full breast. A panache of veg for £3.50 which included 1 boiled potato, 5 over cooked green beans, half a carrot and an inch piece of broccoli is absolutely disgusting. Sauces were cold...I could of complained but did not fancy a replacement meal or a free meal.

We have stayed here on many occasions over the last 10 years or so and previously had been well looked after but this stay wasn’t so great.I had booked via Booking.com for a 2 night stay & asked for twin beds with a walk in shower as my wife is disabled. On previous trips I used to ring up a few days prior to ensure everything was in order but this time I didn’t and it wasn’t!On arrival I was told I could have a room with twin beds and a bath or a room with a double bed but with a walk in shower and no they couldn’t separate the bed. Annoyed I had to accept the twin bed room which was nicely prepared with the usual furnishings but a small tv.We booked a table in the restaurant for dinner & given a 20% voucher of the dinner where we joined by my wife’s siblings. The restaurant was very quiet. The next day we had a very emotional visit to a Care Home & returned later to the hotel hungry & in need of a glass of wine.We thought about the bar but it was heaving and no where to sit - wonder where everyone had come from? So to the restaurant instead. Seat at one table in the middle of other occupied tables but we wanted some quiet time to reflect on our visit so asked to be moved. The waiter wasn’t happy & I was about to walk out when he moved us 3 tables away - not a lot of difference & then a party of 10-12 came in and sat opposite of us and from the off they were noisy. So again asked to be moved & there were so many tables unreserved available but the waiter wasn’t prepared to move us until I said we are leaving - he then moved us a little further away. The meal we had Half Chicken was very tasty but didn’t bother with the dessert ( we had a rhubarb crumble & ice cream in a very small dish that was vastly overpriced at £6.75 the previous night). My wife ordered a Irish coffee and that took ages to be delivered. The final morning at breakfast was the last straw. Imagine the scene - busy restaurant with lots of tables or crammed in together & the waiter ignores the first table that my wife in her wheelchair could get to & led me with her following to a row of 2 seat tables with access for a wheelchair. Completely stupid and I saw that the head waitress mentioned it to the the young waiter. Hopefully he’ll learn from that.As far as the food goes, the salmon sandwiches we had in the bar were excellent & the evening meals bar the desserts were very enjoyable. For breakfast I stuck to cereals & rolls but my wife said the bacon was salty, the mushrooms like bullets and the scrambled eggs were not very enjoyable.I contacted Booking.com about the reservation & they said they sent the request to the hotel but it was down to availability. I just wish one of them had told me that they couldn’t meet my requirements - our visited had been planned the previous week but in future I will go back to contacting hotels prior to my stays. This is a true & frank review not that I like to give negative feedback but if it’s valid then should be highlighted.

I organised a Sunday lunch for a party who were put on two separate tables and they were disappointed. The food was not particularly warm and the service was awful. Waiting staff were not at all attentive. When it came to the coffee, we had to find someone to take a coffee order. One table were offered the choice of Americano or Nescafe and the other table were offered Latte as well. Some people never did get their coffee. The staff appeared to want to get away and we felt we were being hurried along. Had they given good service in the first place we would have finished sooner. There were very few other people eating in quite a big restaurant at peak Sunday lunchtie. Is that not a bad sign. We will not hurry to go back again. It has certainly gone down hill in the last 12 months.

Food is served in either the bar or restaurant and is open to non-residents. The bar was very busy as it is the main hotel bar with a good varied menu. As we were visiting with people that preferred a quieter setting we went to the restaurant. There were many free tables but we were told that we should have booked. They did allow us in after we pointed out that the restaurant was nearly empty. The menu like bar menu was also varied and although some items were as served in the bar there were some additional finer dining items. The portions were small but if you were ordering 3 courses it would definitely be adequate. If you are a man and popping in for just a main course then perhaps order some extra sides. The restaurant was average with no outstanding features but having said that it is convenient for anyone looking to meet just off the A40.
